2.2 PODCAST BUG : Wont play when standby

I have downloaded 2.2 and then grabbed a podcast from the store. I downloaded the enhanced Chris Moyles one.
However I then hit the off button to turn the screen off and it stops playing!!!! You have to leave the screen on for it to play
Anyone else get this?
Seems stupid to me. Battery life will be much lower.

I just found this thread and replied elsewhere. I reported this as a bug in iTunes, but didn't realize it was for only podcasts that I've downloaded over the air, but it seems to only happen with some podcasts (see below) Here's what I wrote:
With the most recent iPhone update (2.2), it's great having the ability to download podcasts. However, playback of enhanced audio podcasts has been causing problems. For some enhanced podcasts, they play back as they used to, providing access to chapter markers in the top right corner, and allowing the screen to be turned off while still playing the audio. Other enhanced podcasts now seem to show up as videos, with a small tv screen icon showing up next to the episode name, the chapter markers accessible via a button at the bottom of the screen, and I am unable to play back the audio show with the screen off (much as most of the rest of the videos work). I haven't yet been able to find a difference between these enhanced audio files, all seem to be file format .m4a, some encoded with Garage Band, some encoded with Podcast Maker.
Some examples:

The Lost Podcast with Jay and Jack AAC Ep. 3.37 (shows up as video)

This change started with iPhone software update 2.2, and has unfortunately rendered many of my podcasts useless unless I keep the screen active.
Additionally, another related change that was made with iPhone software update 2.0, was that, much like on the iPods, video podcasts could be viewed as a video, or listened to as only audio. On iPhone software version 1.1.4 and earlier, you had the choice to listen to a video podcast (which allowed you to turn the screen off) when accessing the podcast in the podcast section of the player, or as a video with the screen when accessing all videos in the player. Since 2.0, all video podcasts accessed from the podcast section play as videos. I understand the reasoning for this, as it may seem more straight forward to some users, but it has decreased the functionality of the player app. It'd be great if functionality were restored via a system preferences option to enable listening-only to video podcasts.

I have just upgraded to the new version of itunes on windows7 and now albums added post udgrade wont play when added to ipod.

I have just upgraded to the new version of itunes on windows 7. I have just added 8 albums (Mp3 format) to my itunes library, synced with my Ipod classic and my wifes ipod nano, the albums have transferred to the devices but wont play when selected. Yet they will play in itunes.
When I select the album on the ipod, it opens up as normal but when you press play nothing happens other than a wining sound from the hard drive of the ipod.
My itunes library is a mix of itune purchases and mp3 purchases and this is the first time I have experienced this issue
Hopefully there is a simple explanation to this

It is working now. I no longer get the message about the item not being available in the US and I can access the store.

Do you even know what you're talking about? Instead of going from post to post giving wrong information and overusing your exclamation point key, do NOT answer if you have no idea about what you're talking about.
Bluetooth 4.0 is backward compatible with all other iterations of bluetooth and has absolutely nothing to do with the problem the OP is having.
You might also want to purchase a dictionary and read up on the difference between "firmware" and "malware". If you continue spew incorrect information, I will report you to the moderators to have your account removed.

Podcast videos wont play in latest itunes

I have the latest iTunes version for windows vista. I have been downloading podcast videos and it says done but then when I go to view it is no longer available as if I didnt ever download it and so it wont play. How do I download and view the podcast videos. The audios work just fine.

my u2 ipod wont play certain sonds, its not on shuffle and i click certain songsand i can see it going past the one i want on its own and it starts playing a totally different one, Ex: i selected Back Then and it played Bang Out

IOS6 causes Podcast App to Play when I get a phone call!

Try this: play a podcast using the Podcast app with a headset. Unplug the headset - the app pauses automatically. Ok so far. Call your phone. Dismiss the call. The Podcast starts to play!! Or answer the call and talk - Ok. Then hang up the call - the podcast starts to play! Very annoying in meetings.
If you manually click the pause button, the Podcast app doesn't misbehave.
I have a iPhone4 and iOS6. Restarted my phone and it still misbehaves.
Has anyone else seen this?

Unplugging the headphones does not quit the app.
Either go to the Podcast app and tell it to stop playing theocrats or quit the app.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.

Ipod classic wont play when docked

i have a recently refurbed/replaced ipod classic thats was replaced by Apple when the battery went capput
i have since bought a dock which is compatible with classics
this dock will play my wifes ipod nano and her iphone 3GS
but will not play my ipod classic 160
it is on firmware 2.0.4 and itunes says is upto date
I have tried resetting ipod
I have turned dock on and off
I have restored my ipod and reinstalled all my files
i have contacted the dock manufacturer and state it is not their fault
how do i get this to work ?
I have since tried it on another dock on my DAB radio and wasnt recognised on that either

Wow, ive been having the same problem for a month now. It the car the music started flickering or whatever, then all of a sudden audio completely stopped from the ipod. Doesnt work with any type of speakers through the headphone jack and it doesnt play when docked on a ihome. It will still hold music, it looks like it playing because the time continues and the blue bar moves, but no audio.

ive followed the instructions on how to hook my pc to my tv to stream video and sound and the vidio is vissible but the audio wont play. vollume is up and the imput out put is corectly in place. why cant i hear audio?

I am happy to help you with your audio problem, but it would be helpful to have the product number and OS version. Please read the following documents if you need help in finding that.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
What sort of connection are you using between your computer and tv? For some connection types, audio is not included and requires an additional audio cable.

In the following link, please pay particular attention to the section on Troubleshooting TV setup as a second monitor.
Using Two or More Monitors with One Computer (Windows 8)
Other things that could help would be to insure that you have updated all the video and audio related drivers for your notebook. The drivers can normally be found from the product page for your notebook, or from the original chipset manufacturer. I would link that page to this, but I need the exact product/model number to get the right page for you.
Another thing that could help with drivers is the: HP Support Assistant as it can automate the driver updates for you.

Downloading podcast videos - wont play on ipod

I had a video that was from podcast which I could play on the itune version 6 but why didn't it play or download onto my ipod when I tried to download it to my ipod.

I can only watch it on itunes and there is no way that I can sync the video podcast only if I am downloaded the episods and it is a show that people are talking in.
I am also trying to put a radio station on my ipod. But I only have it on my itunes. Is there a way to put it on the ipod. I have tried drag and drop it to my icon ipod but that did not work. I think you have to buy the radio station. Also, does anyone have a link in podcast for an english radio station for powerfm. HT204406 i bought 2 songs on my iphone 5 and they wont play when selected it goes to different songs. How do i get them to play again?

I cant get the 2 songs to play after i backed up and set up Icloud. The songs show up on the artist and song selections but not in the purchased playlists. When i select the songs either throws me to another song/artist or it takes me right back to the artist art work.

Songs wont play when purchased from store

im new to itunes, i have recently got an ipod shuffle and decided to buy a few songs to put on it.
i bought the comic releif song from itunes, it downloaded and went into my purchased folder. when i try to play it nothing happens, i thought this might have just been an error with that song butwhen i tried a diffrernt one the same thing happens.
this is really frustrating as it has charged me for 2 songs that dont play!!

Video added to document wont play when exported to PDF.

I created a document in Pages and used a video in the document. The video was imported from the media tab. I was able to adjust the videos settings using the inspector but when i export the document as a PDF i dont et any vieo controls on the video and as a result have no way to play it.

Video files are very large and embedding them would really blow out the size of a pdf.
Use Acrobat Pro to relink the video to the pdf, but you will need to supply the video as an external file associated with the pdf.

This is my problem I have 1 particular song set for all of my messages on for all sound settings, but when I receive a message from someone that is in my phonebook the song will not play. Do I have to go to each contact and set the particular song I want to hear. Is there away I can have the song I want to play automatically.

Bose companion 2 speakers wont play when i hook up to headphone jack. why?

bose companion 2 speakers produce no sound when i hook up everything apparently correctly. ideas?

I have the same speakers hooked up to my iMac (21.5" late 2009), to the headphone jack on the backside. Works fine for me. A few things to check:
- System Preferences -> Hardware -> Sound -> Output: make sure the headphone port is selected
- Make sure cable is plugged in to the correct port. My iMac has two ports: input (microphone, next to the USB ports) and output on the far left side.
- Do you get any sound if you plug in a pair of headphones to the same port?
- Do the speakers work if connected to another audio source (iPod, iPhone, etc.)?
Sorry if the above are quite obvious things which you've already checked. But just in case you forgot something...
