2.3 doesn't fix iTunes issue
it seems the 2.3 update did not do much to fix the one problem many seem to be having with iTunes not recognizing Apple TV in devices.
on the Apple TV, I am able to view YouTube videos, look at movie trailers online, rent and buy movies and TV shows, and even see my MobileMe photo galleries, BUT iTunes still does not see the Apple TV in devices which pretty much renders the ability to sync music and video completely useless. It sure doesn't make sense why some users have this problem and some do not, but from what Ii've read on these posts, its a major issue that Apple seems to be ignoring. I've tried all the suggestions for a fix with nothing creating a solution.
Apple, you need to address this. Why has this been ignored for weeks? and for some, its been months?
I am exactly the same situation and have almost given up after three or more months.
It seems that Mac has been doing so many tv commercials with PC that perhaps he inherited a virus from PC and is now as error prone, bug infested and disinterested as PC ever was. Maybe its time for Mac to put on his courderoy jacket and pocket protector!
Hope those of us in this bind keep posting and hopefully someone will land on a solution.

Agree with fruhulda and Peter.
The hooks are in OS X to provide an Initial caps service via System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Services > Text. When tied to a unique key combination, it fails to show up in Pages v5.0.1 Services menu. I suspect that this is because Apple did not include the AppleScript Text Suite dictionary and this inhibits any specific text item functionality at this time. Not too brilliant IMHO. -

I followed the instructions in this link but it has not fixed my problem. After I have done the screenshots and go into the device manager, my iphone is still not recognized in any of the devices. Any suggestions?

HELP! I NEED TO FIX ITUNES ISSUE.

My wife's Windows 2000 box has a really bad virus on it and I am going to have to F-disk the C: drive and re-install the OS. I have two questions.
1. Best method of backing up the Itunes files. I need to make sure nothing happens to her songs or she will be very upset.
2.I was thinging about this and wondering if this is a possible fix ?
What if I F-fdisk hard drive and re-install OS " WIN XP" and download ITunes and then hook up my wifes Ipod. will that transfer all the songs to the new Itunes download ?
Please advise I have to wake up in 8 hours to start this task! I have to have my wifes computer up and running by 12:00 noon.

Sort of. Getting songs from the iPod back to iTunes is possible but is trickier than your words imply. The procedure is posted on this forum several times a week so search and you will find it.

My iPhone 5s on ios 8.1.2 is stuck at Apple logo or recovery mode.. To fix this issue, i need to update it to ios 8.2 through itunes.. I want to ask that my data i.e. Photos and other personal data would be removed after updating it or not..?
if yes then how can i save my data or get out of recovery mode.. Is there any safe mode or something like that on which i could access my data..
P.S. I have not taken any backup of my iPhone on itunes..
Please help me sort out this issue..Recovery mode doesn't mean that all your data is already lost. You only lose your data if you restore it.
When you plug the phone is into iTunes hold down the home button. iTunes may then give you the option JUST to update the software first. This should not get rid of any data.
However, if iTunes is only giving you the option to RESTORE and update, then you will lose your data I'm afraid.

I'm having a huge issue with itunes locating my missing files..and it's too many for me to locate 1 by 1..It says I'm missing over 3,000 songs and They are all in my music folder..What can I do to fix this issue? I've looked at all the tutorials on youtube and none of it works. I'm running OS 10.6.8 on my 3.06 GHz iMac Intel Core 2 Duo. I recently upgraded to iTunes 10.5.2. I'm not sure when the trouble started but I attempted a restore when the iPod would not play correctly. It would start to play a file and get stuck on 0 seconds. If I put the iPod on shufle, it will stall on 0 seconds for 15 seconds or so and then move on to the next track and stall again and so on. Seemingly randomly, it will play a few tracks but eventually start skipping again. This will continue until the battery is depleted which is fairly quick since the drive is constantly spinning.
My 160GB iPod Classic after restore attempts now is up to date with 2.0.4. and of course, nothing works as it should and I would say the skipping issue is worse than ever.
When I connect with any of three USB connectors, the iPod mounts to the desktop as a grey/silver disk drive picon exactly like the Macintosh HD picon. Then Finder will stall for a few minutes- spinning pinwheel. Somehow, the dock is never affected and I am able to open other applications like Safari or tab through open windows- just no action on the desktop. Eventually, iTunes automatically opens and Finder becomes responsive again. At this point the grey drive picon on the desktop becomes a white drive mount picon, but the iPod does not mount in iTunes, yet. At some point, the iPod attempts to sync, iTunes crashes with the spinning pinwheel and eventually times out and I am prompted to restore the iPod again. Once restored, the iPod properly mounts under devices in iTunes and, as I have done this several times, even occasionally changes to the regular iPod picon on the desktop.
I have restored several times going as far a completely deleting iTunes from my iMac, downloading the latest directly from Apple.com, and attempting to restore again, but to no avail.
I have even used the disk utility to verify and/or repair my Macintosh HD and iPod.
It seems lots of folks are going through this ordeal. Has anyone had any success in fixing the issue, even if only temporarily?one more detail, after a restore, when I attempt to reload music to the ipod, if I try and move, say, 20 files, the transfer seems to work as it should but then stalls on the last file. Eventually, the status will change to "Updates Files on (my ipod)" a and suggests the iPod is syncing even though I have the auto sync feature turned off.
This process eventually works itself out, and seems to take longer relative to the number of files I attempt to transfer. Once done, howver, if I try and eject and dismount the iPod, iTunes stalls with the spinning pinwheel and I am warned that the iPod is syncing again with the spinning candy cane status bar. Eventually thisd works itself out and the iPod dismounts from iTunes and the desktop and eventually the iPod is free to disconnect.
Then if I try and play the music I just transfered, the iPod says there is no music loaded.

I recently did an update for my iTunes and now when I try to open it, I get an error that says that my data execution prevention is not allowing it to open. How do I fix this issue?
Try updating your QuickTime to the most recent version. Does that clear up the DEP errors in iTunes?

Apple tv is giving me a meesage that says... There is a billing problem with a previous purchase. Go to the iTunes Store on your computer and click Purchase History to resolve problem. I have gone to my purchase history but can't seem to fix this issue.
You can contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department at no charge using the form on their Support page (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting and you'll find an "Email Us" button) and explain your problem to them.

I consulted your website for details on how to back up my ITunes Library on my PC-found the article very helpful-I reached step 7 - clicked ok and the following message came up: "Copying files failed. You can select a group of tracks and consolidate from the right-click context menu. You coud try consolidating in batches, say all songs by artists beginning with A, then B, etc, then the other media types, until you can isolate a problem track and then try moving that by hand and fixing the broken link.
I also have two scripts that could help you, Unconsolidated and ConsolidateByMoving. The first can make a playlist of all unconsolidated tracks, the second can consolidate a selection of tracks by moving them instead of copying.

I'd start off your troubleshooting process by deleting and redownloading the songs:
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.
Click on the Purchased link in the iTunes Store to view your previously purchased music.
Download your previously purchased song from this list.

I've read previous discussions that are marked as fixing this issue, tried them, and they didn't work. Including deleting the cache.
Everyday I've synced my iPhone since the iOS 5 update, I've had this alert: '54 items could not be synced. See iTunes...'
When I go to iTunes, no clue, no buttons, etc..
I do know now what items those are, by sheer coincidence.
I clicked the triangle near my iPhone device in iTunes and saw 4 greyed out items under Television. They were 4 tv shows I had purchased and then deleted from my iPhone. I never synced them with my desktop. Yet the device is trying to sync something that supposedly has been deleted.
So then I clicked in Rentals, and there are 50 items greyed out. All Rentals I watched through my iPhone since I've purchased it. They get deleted after 48hrs you've started watching. Desktop is trying to sync those as well. Even though they also have been deleted from my iPhone.
So now I know what those 54 items that cannot not be synced came from, but not how to fix it.I updated to iOS 5.0.1 days ago and didn't receive that notification until just now...
This time I synced new photos I took yesterday, and it gave me the:
"iTunes Sync: 54 items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information"
Perhaps it kicks off when new items get synced.
I've decided to rent a movie yesterday. Once it gets deleted, I'm curious to see if it jumps to 55 items.
