2.3 slot compatible with 2.1 ca

I have multiple pci 2.3 compliant slots, but are these compatible with the 2. requirement on the x-fi xtreme music card?
I would assume it would work. When I try to put the card into one of the slots, the card won't go in all the way. Pushing harder doesn't work, and trying to screw it in all the way still doesn't make it go in.
There are two notches on the card and notch on the slot. At first I thought this was the problem, but I've seen pictures with cards with various notches being shoved into slots with less (as long as the notches on the slot match up with some of the notches on the card).
So my question: Do I just HAMMER IT IN or what?

The only real significant difference in PCI 2.3 as opposed to 2.2 is that 2.3 no longer allows 5V keyed cards. Now it still supports 5V connectors, but only the cards that are uni'versally keyed will fit in the slots. It should still accept all 3.3V cards. They're trying to get away from the 5V cards I would suspect. Anyway, I don't know much about the X-Fi, but if it is only keyed like a 5V card, then I doubt it will fit. Otherwise it should fit.Message Edited by Josh75 on 07-03-2006 04:40 PM

  • X220 msata slot compatible with SATA III

I do have a msata II 60gb in my x220, but would like to upgrade it with a bigger model from http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?IMODULE=CT120M500SSD3
that one is msata III but claims to be SATA 2 compatible.
Will this combination work with my x220? In another blog post I read that it has major drawbacks (much slower)  to use a msata3 drive in a msata2 slot. Is that true?

    @ritzdank...
I can't comment on Sandforce-based SSDs, but the Crucial m4 mSATA uses a Marvell controller.
This article: http://www.anandtech.com/show/6884/ states that the m500 is also Marvell-based.
Please post back with your impressions once you're up and running on the SSD.

  • Trying to figure out what carriers my iPhone 5 is compatible with

    Hi everyone.
I recently bought a new iPhone 5 (not 5c, not 5s, just 5). No SIM card. It was activated, as in I could access the home screen. I can no longer do this, as I was advised to restore it in order to unlock it, which did not work.
I went to both MetroPCS and T Mobile and attempted to load their respective SIM cards. In both cases the phone gave the error message "SIM card is not valid" which as I understand means the phone is locked to some other carrier.
Before I tried to restore the phone, I looked in the settings. I do not recall which row this information was under, but the text was "T Mobile 15.0". Clicking this led me to some 6 or 7 digit number, and clicking again led to an email, something something @ sprintpcs . com. I was under the impression that the phone was locked to T Mobile due to what I just mentioned, but clearly that was not the case since T Mobile SIM did not work.
I called Apple and the first person I was directed to told me he could not provide me with any information about the status of the lock. I asked to be connected to a supervisor, and he told me that the phone is locked to Sprint.
I am going to a Sprint store tomorrow to see what they can tell me, but I am confused about something.
Sprint Nextel US runs CDMA iPhones, which as far as I know, do not use a SIM card. However, my iPhone has a SIM card slot. The back of the box tells me that the phone is compatible with CDMA bands 800/1900/2100MHz *and* GSM/Edge 850/900/1800/1900 *and* LTE 1/3/5/13/25.
If I understand correctly, this means that if the phone were hypothetically unlocked, then it could be activated with any carrier, CDMA using such as Sprint, or with a SIM card from T Mobile, MetroPCS, AT&T, or some other. That is the the first question; if the phone was unlocked, could it be used with any carrier, GSM or CDMA, SIM card or no, with no problem? I have read in some places that a US CDMA phone only works with GSM *outside* of the US.
Second question. If Sprint will not unlock the phone, can I get a contract with Virgin Mobile, as a wholly-owned Sprint subsidiary?
Third question. The phone is still under what seems to be "hardware warranty". IMEI checkers confirm that it is under some kind of warranty until June 24, 2014. Does this warranty only cover hardware problems, so for example, if the lightning port was broken/blocked and I could not charge the phone? Or does it also mean I can return or replace the phone?
All the info I have on the phone is listed below.
    iPhone 5 White 16GB
    US
    MD657LL/A
    Possibly locked to Sprint Nextel
Possibly compatible with CDMA *and* GSM
iOS 7 or above (not sure)
Was activated at one point, is no longer activated
TMobile, MetroPCS SIM cards *do not work*
    A1429

I have the same problem i have iPhone 5s and is lock on Sprint and i update on 7.1.1 and not restore and when the update was complet then i go to settings and write on carrier T-mobile Mk and then i put sim card from tmobile the phone is still locked and then i restore the phone and now i`m stuck on activation screen i need to put sprint card...
I`m from macedonia and i buy the phone from usa ... Sprint is only in usa i dont have sprint in Macedonia...

  • Is Apple's Color Compatible With My Computer?

I have a G5 . . . however, it's an older Dual 2G G5 with PCI-33 slots . . . These slots will not allow me to work w/HD material because they're not compatible w/any HD cards, etc . . . I have FCS, but am thinking about upping to FCS2 - particularly to use Color. Would I be able to use Color on this computer then?
    Also:
I have a Sony DVMC-DA2 analogue to digital media converter that I use to view FCP footage (DV) externally on a monitor. I believe I recall hearing or reading somewhere that Color may not be compatible with this device and I would not be able to view my footage externally using Color and my media converter.
Is any (or all) of this correct?
One last thing: If I CAN'T use this particular G5 set up as it is with Color, would the purchase of a Matrox MXO that takes the video and audio information directly from the computers DVI slots for the purposes of transmitting "accurate color" to a 23" Apple Cinema Display, somehow, circumvent whatever PCI33G5-to-FCS2's-Color incompatibility issues there might be?
Thank you all in advance for helping out and answering these, possibly confusing, questions. I'm just trying to figure out the best setup that I can get to configure my computer to color correct my present project (a DV feature) as well as future film and HD projects.
    Thanks again,
    Javier Calderon

Just did a search and found info that . . . well . . . although helpful, wasn't too promising for my particular "iron".
    Zebulun wrote:
"Well, you can waste a lot of time and money trying to get your old iron up to speed but the sad fact is, even though it may work with Color, it will most likely end in a less than satisfactory experience all around. You need to determine if your G5 has PCI, PCI-x or PCIe slots and then purchase the appropriate cards.
However, Final Cut Studio 2 is optimized for the Intel processors. You will see users here and there using the newest models G5 with great success but quite honestly, you need a Mac Pro."
Although not specifically stated, the verdic doesn't look good at all for my "paltry" PCI33s . . .

  • Is this 9800PRO compatible with my MotherBoard?

I need your advice to help figure out my problem so i wouldn't simply waste the money on this graphic card.
    This is my current rig....
    MSI Intel 865P NEO
    Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 2.60GHz
    DDR400 1GB
    Western digital 160GB and 80GB

A 300 watt power supply or greater is recommended.
    Processor: Intel® Pentium® 4, AMD® Athlon® or higher with AGP 8X (0.8v), 4X (1.5V) or Universal AGP 3.0 bus configuration (8X/4X)
    Memory: 128MB or above.
    Operating Systems: Windows® XP/2000/Me
What I worry is the line that I have highlight. What is the meaning of the AGP 8X (0.8v)? How do I know my rig is with this 0.8v? I need to figure out this first before I get my hand on this graphic card because I afraid the graphic card will burn because of my Motherboard.
And one more thing, if this graphic card compatible with my current rig, does my rig can utilize this graphic card 100%?
    P/S: I don’t play overclock.
    Thanks for reading.

  • Is MSI Z87-G45 compatible with Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 and TridentX ?

    Hello,
I have a MSI Z87-G45 and 2 DDR3 TridentX (from 40 mm tall without heatspreader to 53mm with it) in dual channel mode.
I'd like to mount a Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 with rear air extraction, front heatsink fan, and my DDR3 in dual channel mode (slot 2 and 4). Is it compatible or will I encounter clearance issue with DDR3 ?
    Thanks

I bought the Dark Rock 3 from Be Quiet and I confirm that it is perfectly compatible with both TridentX and MSI Z87-G45 but we have to sacrifice the DDR's first slot (2, 3 and 4 still available).

  • Document "Is my PXI card hybrid slot compatible?"

Hi, I would like to ask for some clarification and make a suggestion for Document 4S3F9Q9G, "Is my PXI Card Hybrid Slot Compatible (PXIe-Ready)". In this document, there is a series of statements about the compatibility of various card types with various slot types.
    Link: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/50C189CF7BF8884B86257515007184F4
I know that the document only intends to say whether any type of card is compatible with a PXI Hybrid Slot, it almost answers the question of what all cards are compatible with what all slots, which is the more general question I am trying to answer as I try to juggle devices and chassises.
Knowing basically nothing about the PXI standards, I attempted to produce a compatibility matrix from these statements alone, and I'd like to see if I arrived at the correct conclusions. I'm not sure if I used the conventional nomenclature, but it should be clear from the statements why I used those terms. See the attached PDF.
There are the pictures at the bottom where you can play a game of hocus focus to figure out which cards fit in which slots, but I think it would be much clearer with a matrix.
So my suggestions for the document are:
add/edit the statements provide information about "blank" cells
add a completed compatibility matrix for quick reference.
Indicate on the matrix, or reference, the standard symbols indicating slot types, used below the slots of a PXI chassis
    Thanks,

Great to hear that it looks correct.  I assume that you mean that I have not introduced any erroneous information.
But the reason that I submitted this message here, rather than directly on the page, is because I believe that my matrix is incomplete, and so I was hoping for some expert feedback on that and a quick commentary about why.
    For example:
    - Will the PXI system timing slot accept standard connector PXI cards, 32-bit compactpci cards, or hybrid compatible cards?
    - Is it possible to plug a PXI standard connector module into a PXI hybrid slot?
Just for completeness, the text and matrix don't answer these questions, but I don't actually care about them.
    - Is it possible to plug a PXI system timing module into a PXI hybrid slot?
    - Will a standard PXI slot accept system timing cards, 32-bit compact pci cards, or hybrid compatible cards?

Ap store says "we could not complete your purchase.  OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer".  I'm running 10.6.8 duel core intel with 15gb of  memory.  Any ideas on why  I can't download?
    Thanks.

If the OP has this much RAM in their iMac, certain this Mac can run Mountain Lion.
The reason it might not be installing is that 15 GBs of RAM.
Your iMac should have (4) equal sized, 4 GB sticks of RAM for a total of 16 GBs.l
If your iMac is only reporting that there is only 15 GBs of RAM, you have a RAM stick that is either not seated in its slot properly or is defective/going bad.
This maybe the reason that it won't download it.
Also could be you are running out of free space on your HD.
You need, at least 15-20 % or greater free space left on your HD.

If your system fits to these specifications then it should work, just make sure to completely uninstall the Li've! before installing this (and put the Audigy 2 ZS into a different PCI slot).

  • Are 2013 Mac Pro DIMMS compatible with 12-Core Silver Tower?

I have a Mid 2011 12-Core Silver Tower, and want to upgrade the memory, however, I also expect to upgrade the entire computer in the next year or two, so I'm wondering if I can buy DIMMS compatible with the 2013 model and use them in the Silver Tower?
Currently, the Silver Tower has 8 slots, 4 of which are occupied with 2GB DDR3 ECC 1066MHz modules. Correlary question is: can I keep these DIMMS in the 4 matching slots, and put the faster 2013 DIMMS in the other four matching slots, or do I have to replace EVERYTHING?
    Thanks in advance!

The Mac Pro silver tower has unique cooling requirements not present in other computers, including the Mac Pro  6,1 black cylinder. Memories for the silver towers should have Apple-approved extra-large heatsinks.
I think you should just buy the DIMMs specifically for the model you have, and leave it at that. The 8GB modules will still mix freely with smaller sizes, and are about the same price as two 4GB modules, so they are the best choice.

  • Caviar Green compatible with MacBook Pro 13.3"

Is the WD Caviar Green 1 TB compatible with the MacBook Pro 13.3"?

Hopefully you mean in an external enclosure. It certainly _will not_ fit inside the MBP (it's a drive for desktop computers). Even externally, not really. It requires a SATA connection, and there's not one on the 13" MBP, nor is there an expansion slot to add one. You could (in theory) get a SATA to USB adapter, but that would defeat the purpose of an eSATA drive...
WD did recently announce 750 GB and 1 TB laptop drives:
    http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=685
The 1 TB model isn't shipping quite yet. Also, those drives are too tall to fit in a 13" MBP (they will fit in a 17" MBP). The maximum sized internal drive for a 13" MBP is currently 500 GB.
