2 accounts on the same computer

hi guys. sorry for probably submitting a basic question but im struggling to work how to do something.
ive just bought a new intel imac and want to set up my wife as a second user. i also want her to have access to the itunes library and iphoto. so that when she syncs her phones she can had photos etc to her iphone 5. is this possible and if so is there an idiots walk thorugh please. .. also is there a way of setting up more than one mail on one account. was thinking if my wife has her own mail folder then theres no real reason to do fast switching if that makes sense. but wanna keep my emails and my wifes seperate!!!.. thanks in advance for your help!!

ok so i set up my wife with a login account on my imac
set up her accounts in mail...
moved the iphoto folder to shared.. clicked on it while in my wifes login.. i photo opened and all the photos were there.
moved the itunes folder into shared but what do i click on theres no application icon in the shared folder. Whenever i clcik on itunes in my wifes profile it asks me to select a itunes volume.. but i cant get to user/shared itunes.. cant find user!!!! am i missing something!! must have done something wrong surely.. all i want is my wofe to have her own account on my imac so she can check her emails, contcats etc but still be able to still have access to the main itunes and iphoto libraries so she can sync music etc!!!!! am i at least on the right road.... sorry ive really got myself all confused by this .. anyone got a walkthrough of how to do it.. cos its driving me mad,, saying that if i make a mess and somehow lose data on her phone when she connects then it wont matter becuase she will kill me!!!!LOL

What do I do to REMOVE an old AIM account and replace it with a new account in IChat?
Can two peeps use iChat with different accounts in the same computer?
(Actually, two people share a laptop, but one of us cannot use her AIM account cuz mine is in iChat already... And, when traveling, I have the computer - and I would like to use iChat on the computer...)

In iChat 4 you can have more than one AIM Valid name logged in at once.
AIM valid = AIM, @mac.com or a MobileMe name.
What you are then stuck with is that iChat is linked to one Buddy Picture and The one Mac User Account's Address Book which may or may not have Full Names, emails details, or a Nickname in iChat 4 linked to the Screen Names.
Whilst it does let you both log in whilst using one Mac User Account there are drawbacks about who uses the keyboard and reading meesages from the other persons Buddies.

  • Multiple iTunes Accounts on the Same Computer

iTunes states that you can have multiple iTunes accounts on the same computer. But when I attempt to put in a new user account (for my wife so she can have her own music library) my own iTunes account pops up when I go to load iTunes while in her user account. And if I create any account that is NOT an 'Admistrator' account iTunes refuses to install itself as the "user does not have the privileges - consult your Administrator". So I am lost as to what I need to do to create separate iTunes accounts where each person has their own iTunes library and thus their own music. Perplexed...

Can you have two itunes accounts on the same computer and if so how do you access them without syncing each others music?

Yes. Use separate iTunes libraries(launch iTunes with the Shift(Windows) or Option(Mac OS X) key held down as needed), or different user accounts on the computer.

  • How can I transfer a local mailbox to another user account on the same computer?

I have two user accounts on the same computer. I actually never really wanted two accounts, but a second one was generated when I chose to use the Migration Assistant to transfer my account from a previous computer to my current one, and I never did anything to delete the second one. Anyway, I have been using Mac Mail to view my work email messages from a Microsoft Exchange server. Awhile back, I was running out of space on my mail server, and decided to download a bunch of my email messages to local mailboxes in order to free up space.
Recently (for reasons that are not terribly relevant) I have decided to switch between the two user accounts on the computer. I have transfered all of my documents, apps, etc. to the new account. However, I haven't been able to find a way to transfer all the email that is in those local mailboxes, so that they are viewable/usable in the new account. Could somebody suggest the best way for me to do this? I am no longer going to use the old account, so the two do not have to be synced. I just want the mailboxes to be available for the new user account (with the same organizational structure).
I am currently running Mavericks (just upgraded last week).
    Thanks,
    JEG

    A quick update....
I copied the folder in ~Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes that contains all of my local mailboxes over to the same location in the new account. When I go into mail, the entire file structure is there, however it does not let me view (or search) any of the messages. The messages can be accessed through the Finder, though.
I tried to "Rebuild" the local mailboxes, but it didn't seem to do anything. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Using iPhoto library by two accounts on the same computer

I have tried to use iPhoto across two accounts on the same computer using the fast switching.
I have found that i could access the iPhoto library by opening the app with the option key down and pointing the user to the library in the primary account.
the library shows up in the second account, but no longer in the primary account.
since it would be better and more useful for me to have the library show up in the primary account, now I cannot switch back.
the app finds the library OK from the secondary user, but not for the primary.
i just get a message that the photos are loadig, left it for three hours, and nothing loaded. the library appears to be intact.
I can point the primary user app to the backup disk and see all of the photos there, but don't know what to do to bring things back to normal here.

  • How do I have multiple accounts on the same computer

how do I have multiple accounts on the same computer? The idea of ", hold down the option (on a Mac)/ shift (on a PC) key each time you start iTunes" does not seem to work for me. Thanks.

Create multiple Windows User Profile with each managing his own iTunes account and library.
To create a user account on Windows 7:
To open User Accounts, click the Start button , click Control Panel, under 'User Accounts and Family Safety', select Add or Remove User Accounts.
    Click Create a new account.
Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type(make sure to give Administrator), and then click Create Account.

  • Hello there - I am sharing an iPhoto library across two accounts on the same computer - it works fine EXCEPT for Quicktime movies - they play on one account and claim I don't have the rights on the other - all permissions are on and ok?

Hello there - I am sharing an iPhoto library across two accounts on the same computer - it works fine EXCEPT for Quicktime movies - they play on one account and claim I don't have the rights on the other - all permissions are on and ok?

It should be in the Users/ Shared folder.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Note the option to check and repair Library Permissions

  • How can I have another Itunes account on the same computer for my wife?

How can I have another Itunes account on the same computer for my wife?

In case you didn't fully understand what dallon meant, it means another user account on your computer. You set that up in Windows and then instal iTunes onto that account.
That way, you each have your own desktop and your own itunes. You can link to the songs in the other person's library as well, but you cannot run both iTunes at the same time. (That simply means you need to close it on the first account before opening it on the second account.)
