2 Alerts for every TXT?

I am getting one alert followed by a second alert about 5 seconds later for every txt message I receive.  The actual message only shows up on the second alert.  I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 6.0.1 on Verizon Wireless.  I called Verizon and they did not have anything in their knowledge base about this issue. I went to settings and set Repeat Alert to "never" but that did not work.
Anyone else having the issue?
Any resolution?
This was not happening with my 4S.
Thanks, Jim

Shortly after I posted this message I recieved a message that iOS 6.0.2 was available.  After I updated my OS, I no longer had the issue.

  • Alert for every AR Invoice raised

    Pls how can i set an Alert for every AR Invoice raised with the details of the new invoice.

    Hi Adegoke,
    It is very easy to create this alert.  However, it may not be practical since the logic to exclude the invoice from alert will be too difficult.

  • Is there a way to set an alert for every event in a single calendar?

    Hi all,
    Is there a way to globally set an event in just one of the calendars showing in iCal?
    For example, I have a "Birthday" Calendar with a bunch of birthday events.  I want to set the alert for all of them to, say, noon, without having to edit each and every one.
    Thanks!
       Greg

    To generally add an alarm to all events in a specific calendar you would need to program an Automator Workflow that passes all events of the calendar to an Applescript that adds the alarm.
    For your birthdays problem is a predefined solution iCal: If you enter the Birthdays on the cards in your Address Book, and enable the "Show Birthdays Calendar Flag", then you will receive automatic email notifications of upcoming birthdays.

  • How can I turn off an alert for each txt when message app is open?

    I think this is a simple problem but I can't find a solution! I want to receive an alert (either vibration or sound, depending on the position of the silence switch) when I get a new txt. This is how I am set up now. However, once I open the messages app and am engaged in a discussion, I no longer want to receive an alert for each message. So basically: If message app is open, no alert... otherwise, alert! Is this possible?

    Latest update on 'Network Lost' Message. I have tried all the suggestions, ie, Setting my carrier to Automatic and resetting my Network settings but nothing works. I had a long conversation with someone at Apple this morning and he said there was no way to stop this from happening. Gutted! My husband and I went through the settings on both our iPhones earlier and discovered that he has a different software version to mine, He hasn't updated his and he never gets the message. Now I am wondering if it's possible to go back to an earlier version and if so how? Can anyone tell me please?

  • Two Alerts for every email message. Gmail?

    for only the past few months, my 3GS iphone began alerting me twice for every e-mail message received. I think it may be tied to using gmail, specifically.
    It appears that when gmail gets a message, the phone will make it's new alert sound and a new number badge will appear over the mail icon.
    When I open up the app, there will be no new messages in the inbox. Upon opening the inbox, the mail app will then initiate checking for mail on the server, and will download the files. When they are downloaded to the inbox, then the iphone will alert me a second time.
    Of course this sometimes happens without initiating a check with the mail app by opening it -- when it's fetch schedule completes and finds something new and downloads it to the inbox on its own, it will also ring a second alert.
    Does anyone know how to stop this from happening. I don't remember making any changes to the account info when this mysteriously began.

    I had the same issue as well. It is just the way gmail works with the mail app on the iPhone. What I did was set up Google Sync through exchange and now have my gmail pushed along with contacts and calendar. Then I turned off the original gmail account I set up on the iPhone. Now when I get a new mail, there is only one alert and when you go into the mailbox the email has already been downloaded and is waiting to be read.

  • I can't find the new text message alerts for every person - help!

    Hi.
    As I frequently check the Apple website, I visited the iOS 4.2 download site. It said that you get custom text tones and 17 new sounds.
    So I updated to get the new things. But then I checked Settings to see the new alerts and what they sounded like. But I only found the same old Tri-tone, glass, horn, etc. There were no new ones.
    So I checked Phone, but there was no custom text message alert option.
    Am I the only one experiencing this problem? I have an 8 month old iPhone 3GS and it works great.
    I am also suspecting that it could be an iPhone 4-only deal.Which would be ridiculous because I would be really upset to see that Apple only cares about the people who cash in their hard-earned bucks on every new Apple gizmo they set eyes on.
    Please help! Thanks in advance

    I understand that it has been answered and has been said that it is for the iPhone 4 only; however, on their website it does not specify that, this is exactly what it states:
    "Messaging with text tones
    Know who’s texting without looking at your screen. Choose from 17 new alerts and assign custom tones for people in your contact list.
    iPhone only."
    If I am not mistaken, "iPhone only" includes every iPhone generation to which 4.2 can be installed in, not just the iPhone 4. If it is in case for the 4 only, then they should have specified and not made a misleading advertisement about it since every iPhone user has been waiting for new tones of any sort since the first iPhone ever came out. Making it available for only iPhone 4 users is a very fowl move from Apple since it's such a basic thing to the phone itself. They should address the issue correctly and make it available for the 3G and 3GS.
    Apple just asked for angry customers with this one and they definitely know it's not fair.

  • How do I get an audible alert for email from specific senders without getting the alert for every incoming email?

    I Need to have emails from my family members to have an audible alert when I am traveling. It seems that every email coming in is doing this. I know there is a Do Not Disturb function but it does not seem to apply to emails.

    You can't set a different notification sound for each family member but If you designate the people that you want notifications from as VIP, I think it might be possible to get notifications from family members only.
    Launch mail and tap the blue  "I" in the VIP section. Tap "Add VIP" in order to add the family members to the VIP list that you want to include. Then tap "VIP Alert" to automatically go to the notifications area of the settings app. Set you preferences in there for the family members. Then go to Settings>Notitication Center and turn off the audible notifications for all other mail.
    The setting states that whatever you set for VIP alerts will override the other mail alerts, so I am taking that to mean that what I am suggesting is possible to do.

  • [CS3] Is there a way to stop the modal alert on EVERY SINGLE ERROR during a bulk update?

    I've inherited quite a mess I'll admit -- I've got ~ 8000 pages each with different dreamweaver templates with the entire site being in a varying state of disrepair.  I need to perform a global change -- I'm thinking the way to go about this is to update the templates (thre are ~40 of them, not nested) and let the process run through. However, I've encountered difficulties.
    After about ~2300 files loaded into the site cache, dreamweaver crashes -- there is no error, it's an unhandled exception.... it consistently crashes at this point.  I'm not sure if this is a specific page causing the problem, or if it's that I'm trying to load 8K files into the site cache....  So anyway, with it crashing consistently trying to build the site cache, I basically press "stop" whenever it tries, and that seems to abort the building and the 'update pages' screen comes up and tries to update the files.
    My next problem is that there are countless errors in each of these pages and templates -- ranging from the 'template not found' when an old or outdated file is referencing a template that has been deleted -- to various mismatched head or body tags.  Of course, and this is probably the most annoying thing I've ever encountered,  this bulk process that should run over 1000s of files without interaction seems to feel the need to give me a modal alert for every single error.  The process stops until I press 'OK'
    I'm talking update 5-10 files, error... hit 'return', another 5-10 files are processed, another alert, hit 'return' -- rinse and repeat.  Oh, and I made the mistake one time of hitting 'return' one too many times -- oh yes, this will STOP the current update because default focus is on the 'Stop' button, for whatever reason. and if I want to get the rest of the files, I need to run it again -- from the start.
    Is there a way to silence these errors?   They're already showing up in the log, I wouldn't mind going through it once the entire site has been udpated to clean thing up ... but I'm updating quite literally thousands of pages here, I would wager that 1/3 of them have some form of an error on it... do I really need to press "OK" two thousand times to do a bulk update with this program?
    Any tips from the pros?

    This one might help.

  • Not getting alerts for events in calendar.

    I add an event in Google calendar and I see it appear on my iphone calendar. However, no alert appears for the event. I have an iphone 4 with the latest iOS 5.0
    This is what I have tried so far...
    1) In Settings/Mail-Contacts-Calendar, I have Default Alert Time set to "At time of event."
    2) Time Zone Support is on and is set to the same time zone as my Google Calendar.
    3) The Notification Center is turned on for the calendar, set to alert style "Alerts."
    4) When I make an event, and it shows up on my calendar, I look at the details and see that it is listed as having no alerts. I don't want to have to manually add an iphone alert for every event.  Isn't that what adding a Default Alert time is supposed to do?
    Please, any suggestions will help.
    Thanks

    Actually, not quite ditto. I am not using gCal. I have a CalDAV server, with two calendars served, my wife's and mine. Each of us is a delegate of the other. On iCal on her computer, she has "ignore alerts" set for all my calendars, and this works. However, she gets the alerts on her iphone. I cannot find an option to "ignore alerts" for the iPhone calendar app. What am I missing here?

  • How do I remove an alert for a calendar item that has long since been deleted? and yet goes off mysteriously, un-deletably, and un-editably every single ****** week !!

    How do I remove an alert for a calendar item that has long since been deleted? and yet goes off mysteriously, un-deletably, and un-editably every single ****** week !!

    I have the same problem with my iPhone.  I set up a recurring calendar event for every Thursday.  That event is no longer happening during the summer, so I went in and chose one from the current month and selected Delete.  Then it gve me two choices, one of which was to Delete All Future Events of this one, and that's what I chose.  I figured, this way, I'll still be able to see the ones from the past, but won't have to see (or hear the alert) for the future ones.
    The following week, my phone alerted me to the appointment, and even showed it on the initial screen, even though it wasn't in the calendar.  I went in to the calendar and NOTHING was scheduled for that day.  So why is this happening?
    So I set up a new recurring event, for in the past, then went in and deleted all furture occurances, and it did the same thing... still alerted to an event that was no longer in the calendar.
    I hope somebody else has found a fix, or at least a reason for why this is happening.

  • I am having a issue with getting data useage alerts for my iphone 4s

    I am having a issue with getting data useage alerts for my iphone 4s from AT&T.  I do not download anything huge at all.
    I looked into it and figured out that the phone dials out nightly at 12:29am every night.   I went into my settings and went to general..about..diagnostics and useage..then diagnostics and useage data to see this.  I then clicked don't send...but I am still getting useage alerts.  Can anyone help me please...
    Thanks

    Honestly, from reading the thread linked, they all come off as a bunch of whiney people that cannot be bothered to help themselves.
    Little to nothing in that thread indicates an issue beyond inept consumers.  Yes, I read several pages on the incessant gripes.  Very few made any actual attempts to troubleshoot issues before whining about the "Apple issue" and those that did actual troubleshooting got their issues resolved.
    So no, Apple has nothing to fix beyond a few specific devices that are experiencing hardware issues.
    If you have actually put forth effort and done the basic troubleshooting, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.  Whining will get nothing accomplished.

    Hi, sorry, I haven't played with MPCUI yet but it we're excited about the capabilities it appears to provide. We'd like to "combine" a lot of our reports and one-offs into OEM so things are better-organized.
    That said... I dug around a bit and thought this might help. Could you add timePeriod & interval to your own c:Table id element (is that the correct term)?
    In the case of the table component, you can specify the metric directly also:
    <c:Table id="processesTable" width="100%" height="100%"
    metricName="CPUProcessesPerf"
    metricColumns="['ProcUser', 'ProcCPU', 'ProcCmd']"
    timePeriod="REALTIME"
    interval="30"
    >
    <c:columns>
    <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn width="50" dataField="key" />
    <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn width="100" dataField="ProcUser" />
    <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn width="80" dataField="ProcCPU" />
    <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn width="400" dataField="ProcCmd" />
    </c:columns>
    </c:Table>

  • Multiple Alerts for one Monitor

    Hi All,
    I have a MP to monitor a scheduled task and get the last run status of the task and fire an alert if it is sort of not running.

    Regards, Mahadev Sundeep Maruvada

    Hi,
    Why not to use a event based monitor to detect the Task Schedule running status? I am not familar with VB script, the suggestion I can give is you need to check if the script cannot properly detect the running result of the task Schedule.

    Hi
    I am working with an ajax program.
    In that i have defined a callback funtion
    but that function is not being called for every readystatechange of the request object for the first request .
    but it is working fine from the second request.
    function find(start,number){
    var nameField=document.getElementById("text1").value;
    var starting=start;
    var total=number;
    if(form1.criteria[0].checked) {
    http.open("GET", url + escape(nameField)+"&param2="+escape("exact")+"&param4="+escape(starting)+"&param5="+escape(number));
    else if(form1.criteria[2].checked) {
    http.open("GET", url + escape(nameField)+"&param2="+escape("prefix")+"&param4="+escape(starting)+"&param5="+escape(number));
    http.onreadystatechange = callback2;
    http.send(null);
    function callback2(){
    if (http.readyState == 4) {//request state
    if(http.status==200){
    var message=http.responseXML;
    alert(http.responseText);
    Parse2(message);
    }else{
    alert("response is not completed");
    }else{
    alert("request state is :-"+http.readyState);
    }
