2 BIW connections to 1 R/3 system

Hello,
We have one R/3 system to which we want to connect 2 BIW systems. The BIW systems will be picking data from the same client in the R/3 system. when i try to configure the rfc connections, it fails since the client can have only one logical name. the connection gets diverted to the wrong path.
has anyone done this before? it this possible?
Amol

What effect will this have on the delta Queues??
as well as for FI, CO, HR and LO.
as each module has a different delta mechanism??
regs,
rogier
think i already found the answer.. Connect 2 BW to the same client in R3?

  • Connecting to R/3 source system from BI in ECC6.0

    Hi all,
    We have installed ECC6.0 system recently with two clients say 500 for R/3 and 600 for BI7.0.
    we would like to know how to establish connection between these two clients?from BI7.0 >RSA1>Source Systems-->we do not have any source system assigned here(i.e. SAP folder has nothing under it).
    Does anyone has documents on this?please share with me.
    Regards,
    Murali.

    Hi Murali,
    Following are the stpes to be performed
    1)Before any developments create a user ALEREMOTE through transaction code SU01. This user name is to be created in both the BI system and the R/3 system
    Enter the requisite details for the same like address, Logon date, defaults, parameters, roles, profiles, groups, personalization and license data. Remember to assign the SAP_ALL and R_RS_ALL in the profiles
    You can create the system-generated password by clicking the wizard button.You can also choose the password of your choice. It’s important to note that keep the password same for the user ALEREMOTE common for both the BI and the R/3 system.
    2) In the same way create another user BWREMO
    3) Define the logical system in BI
    Click on SAP reference IMG in SPRO Transaction
    For BI 7.0 the procedure is different. It is as follows. Click on SAP Netweaver Business intelligence Links to other source system General connection settings, then click on define logical systems.
    For the earlier version BW 3.5 and earlier follow the following steps. Then drop down the BW customizing implementation guide. After that Business Information Warehouse Link to other systems  General connection settings then click on Define logical systems
    Click on new entries and enter the logical system name and description
    Press the New entries button
    Enter the client, city, logical system name, currency, and client role. Select the radio button automatic recording of changes and the rest will remain the same. After that click on save and then back and then save again.
    4) Define logical system in SAP R/3 in similar way
    5)Go to R/3 connection in BW 3.5 or go to ABAP connection in BI 7.0. Then click create.
    6)Now create two RFC destinations for BI, one for direct remote login and the other through the Dialog screen.
    7Creating RFC destination for BIW.
    a.     Create a RFC destination NB1CLNT500 with the name for logical systems. The other destination would This destination would be used for BW  BW interaction. The same would be for theNB1CLNT500_DIALOG.Now click on connection test and there should not be any error. Now check by clicking the Remote Login button and this will take you to the R/3 system.
    8.     Creating RFC destination for Dialog
    a.     Create a RFC destination with the name of and NB1CLNT500_DIALOG in BIW with the name for logical systems. This destination would be used for BW  SAP interaction.
    9.     The process is finished now.
    10.     Now your connectivity is successfully established with the R/3 system.
    Please assign points if this helps
    Thank you,
    Regards,
    Senoy

  • Connection from SAP to our systems involving 2 saprouters

    connection from SAP to our systems involving 2 saprouters
    we have 1 saprouter inside a dmz and another for connecting to our systems.
    we are guessing that this is possible
    SAP (sapserv2) -
    SNC----> saprouter1 (DMZ, SNC connection) -
    > saprouter2 (P * * 3200) ---> SAP1, SAP2...
    But how could we do that?
    How can we let SAP know that they need to connect to 2 saprouters instead of 1?
    The "Mantain System Data" in sap service marketplace only lets us introduce 1 saprouter.
    And how should be the saproutettab of the 2 saprouters?
    saprouter1:
    KT "p:CN=sapserv2, OU=SAProuter, O=SAP, C=DE" 000.00.00.00 *
    P * saprouter2 3299
    saprouter2:
    P * * 3200
    P * * 3600
    is that possible?
    Many thanks !!

    Hi
    As far as my experience goes with this you have to maintain both router information in oss1 tcode
    Also mention second router on the second router tab on the SMP data
    I hope it should work with that as it will automatically create router table

  • How to check connection from SAP to reservation system?

    Dear Experts,
    May I know how to check whether the connection between SAP and the reservation system has been set up and ready to use?
    Thanks.

    Hi
    You need to check the identification code issued to the enterprise by AMADEUS must be entered in the R/3 Customizing for Travel Planning under Master Data u2192 Control Parameters for Travel Planning u2192 Define sales offices and Define API access parameters.
    External reservation system In the Travel Planning subcomponent Travel Management accesses an external reservation system connected to R/3 to carry out the queries on available travel services and to book the selected services. The reservation system currently available is the AMADEUS Global Travel Distribution system.
    For more information, see Technical Prerequisites for Travel Planning--
    Technical Prerequisites for Travel Planning
    Before you can use Travel Planning fully, a number of internal R/3 and external prerequisites or settings must be fulfilled.
    Connection to an External Reservation System
    The online booking function in Travel Planning is based on the cooperation with external reservation systems that are used to communicate with the service providers. The R/3 user has access to the following functions via the connection to an external reservation system:
    u2022 Availability query of travel services
    u2022 Transfer of additional information about selected travel services
    u2022 Price information
    u2022 Processing of reservation by the respective provider
    u2022 Synchronization of the data in SAP Travel Planning if external booking changes have been made
    In the current release the external reservation system in use is AMADEUS Global Travel Distribution. AMADEUS is a subsidiary of Lufthansa, Air France, Continental Airlines and Iberia. The reservation system it provides is in worldwide use and 160,000 terminals in 37,000 travel agencies and ticket sales centers in over 130 countries are connected to it.
    In order to carry out online booking via AMADEUS the following must have been carried out:
    u2022 Your enterprise must have signed an agreement with AMADEUS for the use of the interface and be registered at AMADEUS with a user ID
    u2022 A network connection to the AMADEUS computer center must have been opened
    u2022 The identification code issued to the enterprise by AMADEUS must be entered in the R/3 Customizing for Travel Planning under Master Data u2192 Control Parameters for Travel Planning u2192 Define sales offices and Define API access parameters.

  • RFC connections do not work after system restart

    Hi PI experts!
    We're facing a problem with our PI 7.0 system. After each restart of the system, all RFC sender communication channels do not work. When testing the connection in the sending SAP system, the connection test fails. Currently we workaround the issue by manually restarting the RFC adapter after system restart.
    Does anybody has any idea how th fix that problem? <<text removed>>
    Cheers,
    Matthias
    Edited by: Matt on Apr 29, 2009 3:26 PM - don't offer points

    Mathias,
    Your problem is due to the fact that SAP is not up and running when XI restarts.
    there is a parameter in RFC adapter that you can modify in order to fix that
    Please, see the following link and let me know: /people/community.user/blog/2006/09/21/xi-rfcadapter-reconnect-issue

    I've tried to set up External Content Types to an Azure SQL database but when I access my page I get an error.
    I basically followed http://www.pointbeyond.com/2012/12/31/surfacing-data-from-sql-azure-in-sharepoint-2013-online-office-365
    Can you help me work out what i've not done, I don't know where to configure Azure firewall as this message suggests. The error is below:
    Cannot connect to the LobSystem (External System). Reason: 'Cannot open server 'uf7prto4sj' requested by the login. Client with IP address '157.55.225.241' is not allowed to access the server. To enable access, use the Windows Azure Management

    Hi,
    It depends, if it's a static IP address for your machine, it should be OK for this one IP address; if it is a dynamic IP address in a range, you can input the IP address range which contains this mentioned IP address
    157.55.225.241, or update the changed address to date.

  • Custom iView Connecting to SAP R/3 system using JCA !!

    I did not get any response on the Portal forum so posting it again in the WebAs forum ...
    Environment : SAP Portal : EP 6.p SP2
    I am using JCA to connect to the SAP backend systems.
    The following code connects to the backend ...
    IConnectionFactory connectionFactory = (IConnectionFactory) ctx.lookup("EISConnections/SAPFactory");
    IConnectionSpec spec = connectionFactory.getConnectionSpec();
    ((Map) spec).put("client", "CLIENT_NUMBER");
    ((Map) spec).put("UserName", "YOUR_LOGIN_ID");
    ((Map) spec).put("Password", "YOUR_PASSSWORD");
    ((Map) spec).put("logonmethod", "UIDPW"); // or SAPLOGONTICKET
    ((Map) spec).put("Language", "YOUR_LOGIN_LANGUAGE");
    ((Map) spec).put("ashost", "YOUR_APPLICTION_SERVER_NAME");
    ((Map) spec).put("sysnr", "YOUR_SYSTEM_NUMBER");
    IConnection client = connectionFactory.getConnectionEx(spec);
    I want to use the message server for load balancing. Is there a way to specify the message server and logon group ??
    These is the code to get the BAPI information ...
    // Create interaction
    IInteraction interaction = client.createInteractionEx();
    IInteractionSpec interactionSpec = interaction.getInteractionSpec();
    interactionSpec.setPropertyValue("Name", "REMOTE_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME");
    // Create IFunction instance
    IFunctionsMetaData functionsMetaData = client.getFunctionsMetaData();
    IFunction function
    = functionsMetaData.getFunction("REMOTE_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME");
    // CCI api only has one datatype: Record
    RecordFactory recordFactory = interaction.getRecordFactory();
    MappedRecord importParams
    = recordFactory.createMappedRecord("CONTAINER_OF_IMPORT_PARAMS"
    and the following code populates the input table parameters ...
    IStructureFactory structureFactory
    = interaction.retrieveStructureFactory();
    IRecordSet table
    = (IRecordSet) structureFactory.getStructure(
    function.getParameter("TABLE_NAME").getStructure());
    table.insertRow();
    table.setString("COLUMN_NAME_1", "VALUE_1");
    table.setString("COLUMN_NAME_2", "VALUE_2");
    table.insertRow();
    table.setString("COLUMN_NAME_1", "VALUE_1");
    table.setString("COLUMN_NAME_2", "VALUE_2");
    importParams.put("TABLE_NAME", table);
    The above code causes performance issues in the SAP system because the code is calling the following other BAPI through the JCA java api ...
    1) RFC_GET_FUNCTION_INTERFACE
    2) DDIF_FIELDINFO_GET
    Looks like, the JCA library is not caching the metadata information for the BAPI instead for each call, it is calling other BAPI's to get the BAPI metadata information. Also, if I reuse the same IFunction class instance for all connections (Using Singleton Class), it seems to make less "RFC_GET_FUNCTION_INTERFACE" bapi calls.
    The problem is with the input table structure which I need to populate for the BAPI. Every time the structure is populated, the internal BAPI's are getting called and it takes more time to populate the structure as number of users increases.
    I am looking answers to the following questions ...
    1) Specify message and logon group in JCA
    2) Provide a way to cache the metadata for the BAPI's
    More details about JCA can be found here ...

    I appreciate your help !!

  • Connecting to remote R/3 system

    Hello everyone!
    I need information about connecting to remote R/3 systems. What I am looking for is something like what SAP does to trouble shoot client R/3 systems.
    I have heard that SAP connects remotely to the SAP R/3 system using the SAP Connector to help rectify problems in the remote system. Is something possible for me to use for a client's remote R/3 system? We are also an SAP Software Partner (PBNW) so in case any SAP guy is looking at this, can you please tell me what we can do?
    The rough requirement is to have a remote connection to the client's SAP R/3 system in order to be able to extract particular configuration data and such among other things. We have our own software for the extraction but we need special connectors to connect to remote systems. Is the SAP Connector a valid solution in this case?
    Thanks for looking into it!
    Sameer

    If you want a thorough analysis of your system you can set up a Remote Service connection. To avoid any unauthorized access to your system, you first need to a open a connection for Remote Service. Only then can SAP log on to your system.
    For more detailed information on setting up a Remote Service connection, see the guide The SAPNet - R/3 Frontend User Guide. You can download this guide from the following address: http://sapnet.sap.com/oss-guide .
    Ready-to-Run R/3 contains a service and equipment package for setting up a remote service functionality between your R/3 Systems and the SAP service organization. The package contains hardware and software for routing and the organizational services required for setting up a remote service connection.
    If you have problems using your R/3 System, or you require help, you can use SAP remote services. The TCP/IP connection between your systems and SAP is controlled by the router in the remote access package. One of the main functions of the router in setting up a remote service connection is the translation of private addresses (as defined in RFC 1918) to official external IP addresses, which are delivered with your remote access package.

  • Logon issues when connecting to the R/3 system via System Template

    Hi All,
    I have created a System object for connecting to the R/3 system.
    the R/3 system is on ITS server.
    i have set the connector properties, ITS server details, User Management properties.
    Connector Porperties: Application Host: -
    , logical system name -
    , SAP client---,SID---, System number -
    server port-----,System type : sap_R3
    ITS server details : ITS host name, ITS path :/scripts/wgate, Protocal :http
    Usermanagement properties :    Logon method : SAPLogontickets, user mappingtype : Admin/user.
    Alias :Given the alias for the system created.
    i have also checked with the connection tests. The ITS Connection is green. but the connection test for the connector is red.
    Also the Portal user is not the same as the SAP backend user. So for this i have also made the user mapping, Under System Administration ---> Usermapping . ( we are using EP6.0)
    When i finally created a SAP trasaction iview based on the Alias. and tried to preview it. it is  showing me the error   "
    Name or password is incorrect, please reenter" .
    but in the preivew if i give the user id and password which i have mapped under the user mappings  it is entering the SAP trasaction.
    kindly suggest what can be the issue?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kavitha

    Hi All,
    Thanks for all your replies. And sorry from my side for the late reply.
    I have followed all the suggestions made by every one of you.
    Also Arun, i have checked with the blogs that you have sent. All the settings done by me are exactly the same as defined in the blogs.
    but still the same error persists.  also When i tried to Login with the same user id as that of portal . It is working fine.
    Also while going through the blogs i have found that.. While doing the Connection tests. One of the test,  Connection test for the connectors is failed. i am unable to know the reason for failure.
    is this because of this reason, is the iview is asking for the re entering of user id and password ?
    kindly help.
    Also in most of the blogs i have found that for searching the  Message server. When we are not sure of name of the message server the  go to Transaction SMICM..... Where should this Tcode be entered. is it in the r/3?
    Thanks & regards,
    M.Kavitha harika.

    Could it be because you tried to do this in an AS Java + AS ABAP installation? The note 757692 says quite distinctly, "This note covers the procedure for the j2ee engine only!" The statement does not make it clear if this note refers to only a standalone AS Java.
    My saying so is not very helpful, but the note also goes on to say, "Should you wish to change the host name of a server in a test !!! !!! system, you should do so only with the assistance of an SAP!!! !!! consultant.!!!

  • Macbook aluminum, connecting audio to surround sound system. HELP!!

    Hi,
    I'm tryna connect sound running from my macbook to my home cinema kit. the sound system has a fiber optic input. so im trying to connect the sound via digital means. can you tell me what cables i need. I saw the fiber optic cables and i no the headphone jack can support fiber cable, but can some one tell me what piece i need to connect to my cable so i can stick it in the headphone jack of the mac.
    Hope this make's sense.

    The headphone jack on the MacBook is a combined analog and digital optical port. Since it's the 3.5mm size, if you want to connect it to your sound system via a digital optical audio cable, you'll also need what's known as a mini-SPDIF to SPDIF adapter or cable. It looks like there's a cable with an adapter available at the UK online Apple store. If you already have a cable, you may be able to find one of the adapters at a local electronics store. They're usually available at a Radio Shack in the U.S., for example.
