2 Clients with Production Role in Production server , possible ?
My company has implemented 2 Systems SAP Landscape with one development and one production server. So far , we have one client in Production server been configured with Production role and one more is configured with customizing role.
If possible to configure the client with customizing role in production server to production role ? I tried but the syatem always tell me that a client with production role is already exist.
Kindly advise .
Thanks.
Leon
Hi, Rohit :
Once again . Thanks for your input .But , I really can't try what you are suggesting here as my production system is running 24 hours per day and I can't really take the risk by just trying open and close the existing client with production role . Based on your 1st reply , you said that Production system is possible to have 2 clients with production role . If it is so , there should be settings that I could configure to achieve this rather than trying to reconfigure the existing client with production role.
Thanks.
Leon

Using PPC iBook as Client with OS X Snow Leopard Server
Hey, I am interested in purchasing a mac mini server edition as a home server for all of my family, and in addition to several intel macbook pros, we have a couple of Power PC macs.
Is it possible to use the power pc macs (all running 10.5 leopard) as clients for the server? I want to be able to make them sync home folders with a user on the server. When you set up your Mini server, in Server Admin you go to the Open Directory service and then you can use the wizard to create an Open Directory Master (ODM). Once you have that setup you can then bind your clients using Directory Access in the Utilities folder (up to 10.5) 10.6 is located in /System/Library/CoreServices/ or through the Accounts pane in System Prefs under Login Options. You can then use that utility to "bind" to the ODM using the IP address of the ODM or the DNS name. If you are setting up a fake home network, you should setup DNS first on the Mini so you have a FQDN to resolve to for your clients. Then you can create users and groups in Workgroup Manager and assign the accounts to be Mobile users and have their settings sync'd to the servers home directory folders for your users. You will need to create a share on the server and then enable as a Share Point is Server Admin and then set it to Enable Automount. Then under the home directory tab in WGM you can set the user home dirs to be in the share you created.
So steps:
Update Server for all updates
Set up DNS
Create ODM
Create Share, set as automount
Create users in WGM, point to share for home dir
-Add users to group
-Set up Preferences for group and enable Mobile for sync services.
Bind clients to ODM
Login using mobile or network accounts, sync files and folders based on your prefs.
Hope this helps,

How to connect Lync 2013 client with OCS 2007 R2 Edge server
Hi,
We have OCS 2007 R2 Edge server for external & OCS 2007 R2 FE Server for internal access in our environment.
We able to access internally Lync2013 clients with OCS 2007R2 server, however from external we cannot access Lync2013 client with OCS2007 R2 server.
Is there any patch or registry key trick to access OCS from lync2013 client externally? We cannot immediately migrate to Lync2013 server from OCS.
Any help
MDHi,
I suggest you still use OCS 2007 R2 client to login OCS 2007 R2 Server untill finishing migration to Lync Server 2013, as using Lync client with OCS 2007 R2 Server will offer a pretty limited experience.
Here is a great blog about Lync 2010 Client unsupported with OCS, it is for Lync 2010 client but similar for Lync 2013 client:

Windows Update Error 80080005 Windows 7 Client with WSUS 3.0 SP2 server
Hello everyone, I've looked around at other threads related to my issue, and I can't seem to find a correct answer.
I have a computer lab that I've recently installed a Windows 7 Enterprise image onto 35 Dell Optiplex computers (most are 380's, a few older 360's).
I created the image using MDT2010 and used one of the 380's as a reference.
All has been well for about a month or two but recently 6 computers are giving me Windows Update errors with the error code of 80080005.
I have a WSUS 3.0 SP2 server running, and all of my other computers seem to be getting their updates just fine. WSUS has the problematic computers in it's database, but it shows that they haven't checked in for "x" days.
I have Avast 4.8 Professional installed, I have OpenDNS configured to block bad websites, ____, etc. and I also use an Untangle server to prevent access to bad websites. I've ran a Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware scan on the affected computers, as well
as Windows Defender scan, and Windows Live OneCare scans, and all have found no malicious software.
I have also tried resetting the Windows update service as described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 as well as a script that supposedly does the same thing, but also resets all previous
update events, but I can't find the script source right now (I had ran it last week, and it didn't work).
I'm currently running a SFC /Scannow on one of the computers, and now it has finished. It gives the error: Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service. I'll have to google that next.
The last windows update that ran on the computer that I'm working on now was installed on 11-18-2010 and was a Windows Defender Update (KB915597 Def: 1.93.1985.0)
Previous to that was 11/9/2010 2 updates: KB977165 and KB981852.
I guess I'll have to look at all of the other machines to see if they have the same updates installed.
Anyway, has anyone else had this problem? I've seen vista home editions, and RC's but no real Windows 7 Pro+ RTM versions in business environments where updates were controlled by WSUS.
Thanks for any help that you can provide!
By the way, I only work at this location once a week (tuesdays, well thursdays too, but I'm next door to this building, but I have remote access), so bare with me on trying to fix things.Ok, for the sake of completeness, I have completed the instructions given by Miya Yao.
After stopping the Windows Update Service (from an Admin Command prompt window), renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder to SDold, then starting the update service again, I still receive the same error when checking for updates.
The windows update log shows this (starting from about 4am) and I just reset the service at about 9:10, which you can see in the log.

Local settings for clients with print drivers installed on server?
Greetings,
We have a Windows Server 2012 R2 that has a print driver installed and shared (Xerox 560 ~ Fiery driver).
Clients map to this driver. I.E. they add printer from network and select it from the list.
However, because its mapped, they can't edit the driver or save their settings locally (for example: the accounting code is set in the properties of the driver and not in the preferences).
If they do, as admin, then those changes percolate back up to the sever driver and then to all clients.
My question is how do I get the clients to manage their own local settings, these settings being found in the properties of the print driver and not in the preferences?
I need to be able to set things that are set on the properties (and not preferences) of the driver locally on their computer, but I don't want to have to install the driver manually on every client.
Is their a way to have a local version of the properties page?
Is this possible?
Thank you for letting me know.
Antoinemay need to set the server as print server...

Many thanks in advance. In general you can install an Oracle client version that is different from Oracle database server. However you should take care of client/server support status on My Oracle Support site: see Client / Server / Interoperability Support Matrix For Different Oracle Versions [ID 207303.1].

Multiple clients with role production
Dear SAP experts,
Is it possible to assign the client role "production" (in scc4) to multiple clients in 1 instance. If the answer is yes then how can it be done because if I try to do it via ssc4 i get an error that there already is a production client..
I have searched the forum, SAPNET and googled but I could not find a definitive answer.
Thanks for your patience and answers.
Regards
Dirk VisserHi all,
I discovered that it can be done. Just set the role to production and ignore the warning. -
Is it possible to create sub-client with in SAP production (PRD) client
Hello Experts,
Is is possible to create sub client with in SAP production client?
The question came to mind is that if I am the father company of two child/sub companies and both these function under my company and the users of all the companies will have different SAP log in . But, I can I create a Main PRD client say 'PRD L1 and under this client I create PRD L2 and PRD L3.
Is that possible and seems logical?
Thanks & Regards
SaurabhThis is not a question for this forum, because you are trying to discuss security where you should be trying (or rather your FI/CO department should be) to discuss business scenarios.
I never dreamed (after 20 years doing SAP), that I'd quote the original SAP documentation on clients vs. company codes again, ever - but here it goes:
Company Code
Definition
Smallest organizational unit of external accounting for which a complete, self-contained set of accounts can be created. This includes the entry of all transactions that must be posted and the creation of all items for legal individual financial statements, such as the balance sheet and the profit and loss statement.
The definition of the company code organizational unit is obligatory .
Anything bigger goes to a different client.
Try to come up with a business architecture first and adapt security after, accordingly. -
Setting Quality Assurance System Client role to Production
Good evening all.
I have had my customer ask if it would be possible to set the client role for our QA system to "Production". The reason for this is that a number of transactions that they perform within production require that the QA system be opened when they wish to try them first in QA.
Examples of the transactions are: KSC1, KSC2, KSU1, KSU2, OB52, OB08.
I know that changing the setting is possible, but what are the issues with doing this to the QA system? Is this something that shouldn't be done except when necessary, and if so why?
Thanks for your help!
Joe JohnsonThanks for the answer, but I understand the process. I am looking to see what the implications for setting a QA environment to a production role would be, and what are the negatives of doing so.
The processes mentioned don't require that the production environment be opened, and the users would like to see the same for QA....
Thanks! -

Anybody ever get any events like this before? I'm not finding much or nothing on Google or on other forums, so I thought I would run it past and see if anyone has experienced anything of a similar
nature. And yes, the farm account obviously has creator/secadmin permissions, at this point of our deployment....
I look forward to any and all feedback. Thanks and good afternoon!I figured out the answer to this myself. For those few who might run into something akin to my error...
During the off-hours of where I work, I re-applied the farm account credentials to all dB server VM SQL services that had the account for a log-on (i.e., MSSQLSERVER, SQLSERVERAGENT, etc.) as well as all SharePoint services on our WFE/App Server VM (a two
server farm is what we host), in that order. Then I rebooted the dB server first, followed by the SharePoint server. Upon coming back, everything was working fine again. I was able to provision a site, no probelm, and it seemed to even be a little snappier
when doing so.
One note: doing this procedure gave me a "One or more services have started or stopped unexpectedly" error in the Health Analyzer, for the SPTimerV4 service. When you get this, simply enter into the item and click on "Reanalyze Now;" this will quickly clear
the error out of the Analyzer, and all should be right with the world! :) -
How to display particularDefault client while transorting in to Production
Hi Gurus
While importing the tp into production through TA stms_import >selecting the Request>Click on Truck button--> in the new popup screen( synchronous/Asynchronous, client number etc) every time it is prompting for client with blank!
Actually here i want to put client number 100 as a defult value for every time.
Is this possible to set default as 100.
I tried with personal setting available in TA STMS , still i could not able solve..
Thanks in advance
BALAJIAs far as i remember you can do that by adding the "client specific settings" under "Standard transport layer" tab in "change system attributes".
For that you have to logon to the domain controler and edit the target system configuration in STMS
As you said is working in one of your other systems, then you can use that to compare the TMS settings.

Over the years I have had many ISP and email addresses - but now we have finally gone almost fully virtual...
I have a live login and MS ID 4 my SkyDrive account but I only use my MS touch with 8.1, SkyDrive and office 365 for mobility.
And I still like to backup to my own server!!!
What would be good is if I can put all the software licenses and product keys of the software and keep a record of my mac addresses for hardware and even static IP's in a file or a secure location within the MS online store.
That's where MS wants me to get my computing needs from in future and I will always be able to retrieve it in future but what about the $$$$$ I have spent on software, hardware and applications prior to now???
I know u guys love 2 collect data 4 marketing analysis,
4 example I have an old PC that is still running a server from last century - if you knew about it a simple script would allow you to offer upgrades or at least relevant MS products - UNLIKE the rubbish adds I just turn off or tune out
now...
Why cant I add products previous online email purchases into the 1 MS live ID account where I can keep it together? If you make that available I don't have to have separate steam accounts, EA game accounts, ASUS and adobe accounts etc
etc.
What has brought me 2 this is I was looking for my office pro 2007 disks to rebuild a HOME USE ONLY windows 7 laptop (NO touch screen so 8.1 is no benefit at all)
I HAVE 4 Genuine PRODUCT KEYs for Office 2007 BUT EVERY TIME I WENT TO DOWNLOAD the software - regardless of the key I used - I got the error message: We are sorry, but we are unable to complete your request.•The Office 2007 Product Key
provided is already associated with another user on this site. Please log in with the user information originally used with this Office 2007 Product Key.
That's crap - This is a clean brand spanker install of Win7 and there was nothing b4 I put the oem drivers from Toshiba back on.
I looked at dozens of support pages and forum blogs and tried for hours to get a copy to download - including incognito and other logins but because my default PC name is also my MS Windows live ID the same error was repeated.
I keep away from the non MS sites for these things and with good reason - there were heaps of similar users with the same issue or very close to it that had downloaded from a supposed MS copy from eValue or digital river etc and the next
thing was total corruption of the OS.
EVENTUALLY I found a LIVE MS chat on a support site in the US and she gave me a link to a slightly older version which will need updating and some reg edit changes but so far, so good.
The point is - what a crock !
I should be able to just keep all my software, drivers, updates, service packs, and versions that I have upgraded in the MS store.
If Microsoft aren't going to support XP or Office 2003 and eventually 2007, vista & Windows7 not far behind??? then that's still no excuse for them to put these restrictions and limits when I OWN my copy of the software!!
Unlike office 365 and SkyDrive space which is described in the T&C (that we all read before ticking that radial button to agree of course) as ONLY under a leased licence.
IF Microsoft can support AND develop software that supports SQL2000 Servers, why is it so hard to archive and keep the same info for everyone???Over the years I have had many ISP and email addresses - but now we have finally gone almost fully virtual...

Hi I have a HP MSL2024 library with two tape drives. When I submit two jobs in the OSB home page I see that backups run concurrently: library MSL2024 in use by obrobotd on rubxyz, process 21569 drive (1) dte1 in use by obrobotd on rubxyz, process 215
