2 color PDF shows 4 color in Acrobat

We have been using 2/c file for Indesign CS2 document (Magenta & Black). However we were able to findout, select the Output Preview menu in Acrobat and turned off Magenta and Black it shows the rest of the color. InDesign shows by using Seperation Preview menu.
Now we have almost 30 chapters for this title. I'd like to know is their any option to check these PDFs after generated from InDesign at Batch mode or Watch folder mode. I tried using the Preflight option in Acrobat "Document generates more than two plates" but it indicates the document has 4/c.
It shows the "Indexed color" and "Black" when we checking the "Images" and "Color spaces" under the Overview in Preflight menu after executed the profile. For 2/c title we can ignore the Indexed color (2 color combination). But it doesn't show how much percentage has been used for CMYK. I have attached the pdf file for your reference.
Pitstop doesn't show the document has more than two plates.

It's a bit hard to work out what is happening here, but it sounds like you might be getting confused by the fact that the Output Preview in Acrobat always shows CMYK, whether it's greyscale, RGB or only one of the process colours.  If you want to try automating it ask on the Acrobat forum, but Pitstop is probably your best bet here.
If you have an Indesign document with only black and Magenta swatches and you don't place anything or use the registration swatch you will never output PDFs that will print anything but these two swatches.

  • Map Spot Color to Another Spot Color in Acrobat 9?

In Acrobat 8 I could easily map one spot color to a different spot color using the "Convert Colors" action drop down menu.  With a few clicks, all page items that were colored with Spot 1 could be converted to Spot 2 using this process.  I use it all the time on an hourly basis to create the press sheet layouts for our PDF workflow.
However, in Acrobat 9 the "Convert Colors" does not give me the "Map to ......" option any longer.
Simply going to the Ink Manager to make an alias does not change the colors of the elements either.  I have noticed that if I first go to "Convert Colors" and then click "Ink Manager" and then alias the spot x to spot y, it will correctly change those items.  But this is requires a lot more effort and keystrokes to do something that was very simple and easy in Acrobat 8.  [By the way, if I went to Ink Manager directly (not through "Convert Colors") it would NOT change colors.]
I know that I could do this in Pitstop but that would take more keystrokes and the way I do it in Acrobat 8 is much quicker and more efficient.
Am I missing something with Acrobat 9?  Can someone tell me how to achieve this in an easier way using Acrobat 9?   How about in Acrobat 10 - is it any easier?
    Thanks for your advice.

  • Desaturated colors in Acrobat XI vs OK Colors in Acrobat 9

When I create a PDF in Indesign CC and view it in Acrobat 9 the colors look exactly like in the Indesign document. When I open the PDF in Acrobat XI (11.0.04)  they look desaturated and dull. How is it going to look if I send it to the printer, like in 9 (then I won't worry and simply use that version) or like in XI (then please tell me how I can get my colors right in the PDF). I am using an Eizo Wide Gamut screen (CG241W) on a Mac with the latest version of OS Mavericks.

I've just discovered the same issue on my computer (MacMini 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, MacOs 10.9.5, Eizo display via HDMI, and freshly updated Acrobat XI from Creative Cloud). Colors in Acrobat look different than in InDesign and Photoshop, though I checked carefully the right profile in "Output preview".
I usually use Acrobat for preflighting prepress files, and the accurate color wasn't crucial so far, but recently it turned out that calibration software from Eizo uses Acrobat's "Output preview" for validating of the calibrating. The other option would be using Photoshop (it worked fine with Photoshop CS2 on my former PowerPC machine) but for an obscure reason it crashes every time Eizo's ColorNavigator tries to switch to Photoshop CC. The validation process goes smoothly with Acrobat, but since it displays wrong colors the validation result is distorted.
All in all there are two issues: inaccurate colors displayed in Acrobat and some incompatibility between Photoshop CC and ColorNavigator (of course, I intend to write to Eizo too). Fixing at least one of them would make me more than happy.

  • May a user change the paste board (background) color in acrobat 9

I have a customer supplied file with a screen the exact same color as the background or pasteboard color in acrobat 9. So I cannot see the edge, I cannot see if there is bleed etc... This color is much darker than the gray background in acrobat 7 which I have bee using.
I find this background much to dark for my use and I would like to change it to a lighter gray as the paste board in 7.
    Where is this preference?

I don't believe there is any way of changing the pasteboard (background) color in any version of Acrobat.
However, there are a couple of Page Display settings which may help:
Check "Always show document page size" to show the size of the document (trim size).
Check "Art, trim & bleed boxes" to show these features. You can open the the Crop Page dialog to show the size of any of these boxes.

  • Problems with color change (Acrobat 8 to Acrobat 9)

Hi.  We are have an issue with the colors changing from the way they look on the screen to the way it plots out on our plotter.  The PDF had no problems in Acrobat 8.  The same file was then plotted in 9 and now the colors change from the way they appear on screen to the way they appear on paper.  The PDF file originated from ESRI ArcGIS 9.3.1.  We open up the file in Acrobat and send it to our plotter, a HP DesignJet 1050C PS 3.  Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

    Hi LuigiAntonio,
Some more information would be required as to the exact error message if any and screenshots of the issue would be helpful.
What kind of problems are you referring to?

  • I have Adobe Reader X on Windows Vista. Why doesn't the Printer for Adobe PDF show up in my Hardware/printers? Or can I add it to the Hardware/Printers?

I have Adobe Reader X in Windows Vista. Why doesn't the Adobe PDF show up as a printer in my Hardware/Printers? Or can I add it to the Hardware/Printers? And how?

Adobe Reader - FREE - reads PDF files, prints them, fills forms.
Adobe Acrobat - $$ - as Reader, and makes PDFs and edits them, sorta, and does a bunch more.
So if you had Acrobat try and find the license to avoid having to pay again...

  • How do I get the PDF Convert feature of Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.4.4, which makes a PDF of a web page interactive, to work in Firefox 4.0.1?

I just installed (on my Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) operating system/Intel i5 CPU M560 2.67 GHz) and am now using as my default browser Firefox 4.0.1 because Internet Explorer 9 was giving me so much trouble--lack of display of web content, lack of PDF reproduction when web content displayed, screwball formatting display, etc., all of which has been remedied by the mere installation of Firefox 4.0.1.
How do I get the PDF Convert feature of Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.4.4, which converts a web page to an interactive PDF, to set up and work on Firefox 4.0.1?

You can not do that using Adobe Acrobat 9. Adobe never made a create PDF add-on for Firefox for use with Adobe Acrobat 9. They created a Firefox add-on for use with Acrobat X, but currently that one does not work with Firefox 4 though Adobe are working on an update.

  • PDF shows in safari 5.1, text is blurred out.

    Hi all,
I've been having the problem of safari not showing pdf's, this is partially solved now. But since I've followed the steps on another thread here,
I can see the pictures in a pdf, but not the text. The text seems to be blurred out as shown in the picture below :
Another awkward issue is that when I open the same pdf in Google Chrome, de pdf shows normally, but when I try to open the pdf from chrome in preview, the same blurred text appears.
    Any solutions?

Did the person that made the PDF use Word for Windows to make the PDF?* It's now possible to make PDFs directly from Word with File > Save As but one of the default options, "Bitmap text when fonts may not be embedded", makes the text (by now a graphic) unreadable in Preview or the built-in Safari view. I don't know if this is Microsoft's fault for making the bitmaps in a strange way, or Apple's fault for having a bug in Preview.
    * You could always find out by opening the PDF in Preview and doing Tools > Show Inspector

  • Are there settings in Acrobat to enable a PDF file to open in Acrobat or Acrobat Reader by Default rather than open in a Browser

Are there settings in Acrobat to enable a PDF file to open in Acrobat or Acrobat Reader by Default rather than open in a Browser

There is a check box in the preference (under edit). I have not had great success with this setting, but that is what it is supposed to do. Don't expect it to happen in Chrome that has it's own PDF viewer (or the preview function on a MAC). You might also check the settings for your particular browser.

I can no longer open any PDF after my trial of Acrobat XI Pro finished...Help

I would try using this tool to first remove all traces of Acrobat from your computer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

Please explain what you mean by "Buy for a 2011 card" and what you did before you saw that message.
By the way, you've been misled by poor field labeling on this forum into typing a large part of your message into the field intended for the subject.  In the future just type a short summary of your post into that field and type the whole message into the field below that.

how do a edit a scanned pdf?  In photoshop or acrobat 9 standard  If in photoshop, how do I copy, move and save a letter or word?

You can open a pdf in the PSE editor. When you open the pdf, a dialog will ask you  which page to chose (if it's a multipage pdf) and which parameters to use for the conversion to bitmap.
Since you are on a flattened bitmap (psd, tiff, png, jpeg...) all text will be converted and you won't be able to edit text (which is vector format).

  • How to reassociate PDF files in IE from Acrobat to Reader

    Hi all,
How can I change program associated to open PDF in Internet Explorer. I have installed both Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat and at the moment Acrobat is the one which opens PDFs in IE. I wish to change it to Reader. I have associated PDF files within Reader in windows but IE still seems to remember old setting and open PDFs in Browser window using Acrobat.
I have Uninstalled Acrobat and then IE opens PDFs in Reader but when I intall Acrobat back IE automatically reverts back to Acrobat. Changed association of PDFs in control panel folder options but still same issue.
    HELP

For several years I have used this tweak from Reinhard Francke.
And I have submitted it in this forum several times.
This registry key decides, which program opens pdf in IE:
The value shall be the full path to the exe. E.g:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe
    (Default) = "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe"
    Remarks:
The example is regarding using the reader (AcroRd32.exe)
Its not an "official" recommandation to install both Acrobat and Adobe Reader
By me, I have only used it up to versions 7.
    Good luck.
