2 CSS Questions on my layout

Hi everyone, I have two CSS questions regarding my layout.
First off, it is located at:
http://robles.clunet.edu/~ssmi/tsr9/tsr9template.html
The CSS is embeded in the file (it will linked from a
different file once I am done with this design, but beside the
point)
My first question is about how I can keep the right top image
from being bumped down to the next line when the window is resized.
I want it to squeeze into some, but then at a point have the scroll
bars kick in.
My other question is how I could make the title image "The
Scott Report" centered between the two left and right images up
top.
Could anyone help out?
Thanks a lot!

  • CSS - Table width breaking layout

    I have a CSS issue with page layout.  I have created a layout where I have a main wrapper that encompasses the page.  Inside the wrapper are three sections:  header, content, and footer.  These all adjust 100% to the width of the browser.  I will have tables of varying sizes within the content area.  My issue is that when the browser goes to a size smaller than the width of the table, the content area will scroll to the right, but the rest of the areas will not stay at the same width as the content area.  The result is that the header and footer will remain at 100% in the viewable area, but you have to scroll to the right to see the rest of the information.  This breaks the layout.  What I would like to see is that the header and the footer will always match the width of the content area and so if a table happens to push to the right, the header and footer will always match it.  Here is a link to an example:  http://www.artomicblast.com/csstest/interior.html.
    You'll see that if you have the browser filling up the whole screen, everything looks fine.  As you start adjusting the size down, the center section will reach a point where you get a scrollbar and it breaks out of the width of the screen so that you'll see the header and footer to the left, and it sticking out to the right.
    Is there a way to make it to where the outside wrapper will keep everything contained no matter the size of the table in the content area?
    Thanks!

  • Have a CSS question

    I have a picture i am trying to put inside a div that has a class already which makes pictures have a frame around them when i insert them into it, which is fine for the main image but i am trying to add an extra image in there and i dont want that frame to be there.
    I will attach a picture and a link to the site i am talking about.
    If anyone can help me with this CSS question or how i can go about getting rid of the frame around the step 1, step 2 and step 3.

    Thanks!

    Take the frame class out the div and apply it to select images like this:

  • Question about reports layout

    Hi ,
    I have a quick question about report Layout.
    I have created a report in 6i. Now if I want to change my
    select statement and add new table to select from , it just
    restructures my report layout again and set that to Default One.
    Is there any way where I can set my Own layout as Default for
    that particular Report ?
    I would really appreciate any feedback.
    Thanks
    Vidya

    Try to give it alias names to the columns . Then when you
    change the table your are selecting from . The layout should
    not change.

  • CheckboxDatagrid (extended) CSS question

    Hello
    In our application we make use of the CheckBoxDataGrid, which rocks.
    We are playing with the CSS and noticed that we arent able to change the "chromeColor" property, in CSS. Only in the MXML.
    I would like to set the style in the CheckBoxDataGrid super class, but I do not see a way to specify "headerStyleName".
    How and where would that occur in an extended class? Would it need to happen in the constructor?
    Also, how would you re-assign the CSS, in ActionScript, in this extended DataGrid class? Any ideas?
    Any help is appreciated, thanks folks!

    <!--[if lt IE 8]>
    <style type="text/css">

    <![endif]-->Specify the <tt>too-wide</tt> static region ID on the IR region for use as a CSS selector.
    However, presenting information in a way that requires users to scroll the viewport horizontally is clunky. This will be particularly true in combination with an IR. Think about the user experience: is there an alternative way of displaying this information?

  • I'm designing my first website using Fluid Grid Layouts. CSS question

    I'm designing my first website using CS6 and Fluid Grid Layouts so I need a lot of help. I realize CS6 creates something called a boilerplate css file. However, in addition to that file, do I have to create an individual external style sheet for my desktop, ipad, and smart phone pages (3 separate style sheets) or should I have only one external style sheet for everything?
    Or this is there another recommended way to use Fluid Grid Layouts?

    FluidGrid Layouts creates a boilerplate.css file, a respond.js file & a Fluid.css file for you -- you name it whatever you like.  I like to call mine Fluid.css so I remember what it is.
    Fluid.css contains mobile first -- upon which all others are based.  Inside, CSS Media queries, you'll find code for tablet and later on desktop.  So one stylesheet generated by DW covers all 3.
    TIPS:
    FluidGrids are very temperamental.  Do not tamper with boilerplate.css or Fluid.css files.  Instead create a separate external style sheet for your typography & other custom content styles.
    Build mobile first, then tablet and finally desktop.
    Keep your designs simple and uncluttered.
    Don't worry about content until you get the layout perfected.
    Have fun with it .  You'll probably have to start over a few times before you get what you want.

  • Photoshop CS3 to Dreamweaver CS3 CSS question

    Hi all,
    I am sorry if this is allready dicussed a couple of times.I did a search and just could not find it. When I export a site from Photoshop CS3 to DIV (generate CSS by ID) it is aligned to the left and all DIV's have a specific position on the page. How can I get my site to center in Dreamweaver CS3 without having to adjust al separate DIV's?
    For Example: When I export from Photoshop all slices are exported as folowed.
    #Table_01 {
    position:absolute;
    left:auto;
    top:0px;
    width:832px;
    height:562px;
    right: auto;
    #test-13 {
    position:absolute;
    left:275px;
    top:26px;
    width:9px;
    height:189px;
    #test-14 {
    position:absolute;
    left:284px;
    top:26px;
    width:128px;
    height:98px;
    I know how to make a DIV center (with Margin auto left and right) but I do not know how to center all DIV's at once.
    I hope you are willing to help me with this. In case you have more questions let me know.

    The answer is to not let Photoshop write either your HTML or your CSS for you.  What you show is a disaster waiting to happen, really, and is characteristic of the kind of mess produced by any wizard that writes HTML based on a graphic layout.  Use your graphics editors to produce your graphics.  Build your page in DW.  It's a much better way to go.
    I know how to make a DIV center (with Margin auto left and right) but I do not know how to center all DIV's at once.
    I hope you are willing to help me with this. In case you have more questions let me know.
    Leaving your page with all absolutely positioned elements is really asking for trouble, but here's how to make them all center at once -
    Change this -
    </head>
    to this -
    <style type="text/css">
    #wrapper { width:760px; margin:0 auto;position:relative; }
    /* 760px will display on an 800px screen maximized browser window without */
    /* horizontal scrollbars. Change as needed */
    </style>
    </head>
    change this -
    <body ...>
    (the ellipsis represents any other attributes that might be mentioned in the body tag, and SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED EXPLICITLY!)
    to this -
    <body ...>
    <div id="wrapper">
    and this -
    </body>
    to this -
      <!-- /wrapper -->
    </div>
    </body>
    and see if that helps.

  • Beginner CSS questions

    I previously designed an html website in Dreamweaver MX 2004
    that I need to switch over to CSS. I've been studying pages and
    pages of tutorials, and have some questions that haven't really
    been addressed, or else I've been missing the point!
    So far, I've successfully created a simple, external .css
    file that had paragraph and heading rules, linked it to an
    existing, table-based, html test-page, published it, and it worked
    fine.
    Now I want to get away from using tables to using divs, and
    there's a sample layout in DW that I selected: Two column, elastic,
    with header and footer. Now I'm confused.
    In the sample page, along with css rules and instructions,
    there are paragraphs of content:
    <h1> Main Content </h1>
    <p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing
    elit. Praesent aliquam, justo convallis luctus rutrum, erat nulla
    fermentum diam, at nonummy quam ante ac quam. Maecenas urna purus,
    fermentum id, molestie in, commodo porttitor, felis. Nam blandit
    quam ut lacus. </p>
    Question #1: Does this mean this isn't supposed to be an
    external style sheet? Because I'm pretty sure one doesn't put any
    content on an external style sheet. Can I turn this into an
    external style sheet, and what do I need to do in order to
    accomplish this?
    Question # 2:
    As mentioned above, my first foray into an external style
    sheet worked fine with one of my table-based html pages. What I
    fail to grok is when you set up an external style sheet with divs
    how exactly do you put your content on your page in design view? Do
    I need to convert tables to divs, which would be on each individual
    page? Then am I giving up having the divs controlled by an external
    style sheet? I don't mind making all new html pages to be
    controlled by the divs on a css, but then I'm back to the first
    question - how do you place content on an html page, when the divs
    are supposed to be controlled by the external ss. This seems to be
    a never-ending loop in my mind!
    Many thanks in advance for trying to straighten this out!

  • Questions on tabular layout

    Hi,
    I've got some doubt while developing forms application.
    In tabular layout:
    1) Can we set somewhere that enable user will always see an empty line as the last record in the block?
    For example, we set 5 records in the block, when we hit the last row in the block (row 5), it will automatically
    display an empty row below it. So when user move the mouse cursor into the empty line, it will be taken as trying to create
    a new record.
    2) could we change the item's property only pertaining to the current record, without affecting the other record?
    For example, I have this data block on customer, which has id , name and address. From 5 records I showed, I would like to
    disable column name and address when I navigate to record 2, but when I move record 3 it will be enabled again.
    Your input is really appreciated. Thanks very much.
    Wan

    Thanks for the response Patrick. I guess I should have been more specific. What I do not understand is how to reference the values in the report if the select is for example: #1 select empno, ename, job, sal from scott.emp
    If you are doing a manual tabular form, you use the PL/SQL variable HTMLDB_APPLICATION.G_F01 to HTMLDB_APPLICATION.G_F50 but in that case you would create the select differently, for example
    #2 select htmldb_item.hidden(1, empno) empno,
    htmldb_item.text(2, ename) ename,
    htmldb_item.select_list_from_query(3,job,'select distinct job, job from emp') job,
    htmldb_item.text(4,sal) sal from emp
    HTML DB has allot of flexiblilty but not clear on how everything works yet.
    If you have a one record form then you just reference the name of the item in PL/SQL as for example: :P2_EMP_NAME if P2_EMP_NAME is the item name in the form.
    I guess if you create a report with type SQL Query (updateable report) then it must be a tabular form where the select has to be like in #2??? I tried to create like #1 and create a Multi Row Update process but that did not work. I get the message, Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001: no data found in tabular form.
    So I guess the question is: Is the only way to create a form in table format either by the Tabular Form wizard or using the HTMLDB_ITEM package?

  • A CSS question I think

    If you would take a look at this page http://www.gcfa.org/add_data.asp you will see that between the header and the navigation bar a white line is there. I don't won't it there, how can I get rid of it?
    It must be in my CSS I guess, I checked the images and neither one of them the Header nor the Navigation menu have a white border. Here's my code. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • CSS Flexbox - a new layout method for web pages

    Hi,
    As you may all know, css flexbox is a new layout method for laying out your web page, and with Firefox releasing version 22 within the next few days, (should have been yesterday) it is now no longer hidden behind browser settings. Add to this the fact that all desktop browser except IE10 and Safari 5 & 6, no longer require the use of a vendor prefix, and that http://html5please.com/ simply say ’USE’, flexbox is now finally a viable layout alternative, especially for responsive layouts.
    Flexbox has been available on all Android and iOS devices, (and any device using the webkit engine, e.g. new blackberry’s and Kindle Fire devices) since they were first release.
    To help find problems, and provide help in using flexbox, we would be grateful if you would experiment and provide feedback in the use of flexbox for layouts.
    To help you get started a video tutorial, (with files to download) and examples of layouts, (more to be added next week) and tips & tricks to help with some of the more common problems have been provided at http://flexboxlayouts.com/. This site will also be updated to provide you with a list of problems and hopefully the solutions to those problems, so that you will have a ’one stop’ reference site for using flexbox.
    If you have any tips in using flexbox, or a flexbox layout that you would like added to the site, then you can use the ’Submit’ email address on the http://flexboxlayouts.com/ site.
    For more info on the css flexbox specifications see -
    http://www.w3.org/TR/2012/CR-css3-flexbox-20120918/
    or if you just want to know what property is supported by which browser/device -
    http://flexboxlayouts.com/pdfs/flexbox%20browser%20Properties%20.pdf
    Note to regular contributors & moderators:
    As I only have time to visit and help in the forum for a few hours per week, should you find any flexbox problems unanswered then please let me know via email.
    PZ

    Hi Al
    Yes I know, and this is why I am asking people to experiment with flexbox.
    The fix for IE10 is to give the right hand sidebar, (or the content) a larger flex-grow property, the bug is caused by the flex shorthand property not recognizing % values, and using the flex-basis as a set width instead of a preferred size.
    I have logged the bug, (and many others) with the various browser bug bases.
    This and other bugs, do have 'fixes', so I hope users will experiment with flexbox and provide feedback.
    Flexbox is no different than any other css feature, "we can only find the problems in actual use".
    Strangely enough, I have found the most consistent to use is the old 2009 implementation on mobile devices, (no doubt iOS7 will change all that ).

  • HTML/CSS match to InDesign layout

    Hello,
    I have been given the task of taking an InDesign layout from CS6, and building it in HTML/CSS. The challenging part is that it is required to be 1:1 pixel perfect. When I open it in Google Chrome–which is going to be the standard browser it’s opened in–the font raggs differently.
    When I overlay a PNG of the HTML site, and a PNG from the InDesign file it is no where close to pixel-perfect. The text wrapping differently is the main issue at hand. I have tried every CSS hack possible to adjust letter-spacing and word-spacing, I've also explored Google Fonts to attempt to get a better match.
    Does anyone have any experience with a similar ask? In CS6 you can’t specify type pixels, I’m not sure it would matter if you could, because it seems that InDesign is using it’s own conversion for what it considers a pixel.
    Please help!!!

    Agreed, it's way too optimistic. InDesign is a typographic design application, under development since 1999. Already in its very first version, its type engine came "fully grown and armed, with a shout", supporting enough advanced features to squash all but the very stubbornest competition (I'm looking at you, TeX).
    HTML/CSS, on the other hand, has had problems displaying "plain text" since its very beginnings. Only the very latest version of CSS finally addresses some typographic features (probably unnecessary to add, but anyway: with mixed results for different browsers).
    " ..it seems that InDesign is using [its] own conversion for what it considers a pixel", you bet it does. After all, there was a web crowd that outright demanded "pixels" to be a measurement unit in InDesign. Adobe did a have a stab at adding pixels, and if one would ask me, they did it the wrong way. But that's no fault in InDesign. ID has its roots firmly in the "real world", that is, you can design a document with a precision right up to the wavelength of visible light; and ID will happily produce output for it. Your "pixel", on the other -- Darker -- Side, "is" not a real thing. It has no width or height. If you think it does, it goes only for your screen. You may say, "but if necesasry I can hold a magnifier to my screen and count the itty bitty lights!" What if you do so, and discover that your screen does not consist of square pixels, but round ones, or hexagonal, or elongated rectangles? And any measurement would only be value for just your screen. What about mine, your bosses', or your client's?
    Following John's advice, here is a list of features you would need to switch off (as most are enabled by default) before you can even think of mimicking ID's sophisticated text engine in HTML:
    ligatures
    alternate characters
    real small capitals
    tabular or oldstyle figures
    .. wait -- better switch off *all* OTF features
    Paragraph composer. Use the dumb One Line At A Time And We'll See How Far We Get Composer.
    Language based hyphenation.
    Minimum/Optimal/Maximum Word Spacing (CSS must be using this internally, else it could not show justified text; however, I don't think you can set its parameters)
    Letter Spacing and Glyph Scaling (although to be fair, these seem to be already off by default).
    ~16 decimals of precision for every object, line width, text size, spacing, et cetera
    any real-world based measurement unit.
    I probably forgot a few too.
    --- add.
    Advanced character/class kerning
    Optical kerning (not enabled by default)
    -- add2.
    Balance Ragged Lines (off by default; but you can't use it)
    Optical Margin Alignment (as above)
    Align to Baseline grid
    last line indent
    Align to spine
    justify last line (can only be achieved with span/div tricks)
    tabs
    about all internal hyphenation settings (CSS allows 'none', 'manual', and 'auto')
    live text color outline (I may be mistaken, but I bet if it were possible literally everybody would be using it by now -- just like the dreaded "blink" tag did, before it was deemed illegal by federal law)
    skewed text. I know, nobody with a grain of sense uses it in ID.[*] Still, you can't do it in CSS so I'm gonna list it anyway.
    [*] Except myself, by the way. But I don't use it willy-nilly, only after exhausting all the good and the bad options; then yes, I go for the Ugly look.

  • Theme / CSS question

    Hello!
    I have a very basic theme / csss question:
    Working with Oracle XE and Apex I want to create my own theme. Therefore I tried to use
    http://wiki.shellprompt.net/bin/view/Apex/ThemeTips
    But thereit says:
    1. Copy the theme_4 images directory to theme_100
    But where do I find the theme_4 images directory???
    All I found was:
    Shared Components -> Themes
    But how can I open the css file (2nd step)??
    Excuse me for beeing this stupid...
    Thank you
    Johann

    Searching the XE Threads I found out, that
    http://myserver.com:8080/i/themes/theme_4/
    shows me the themes 4 directory using webdav.
    But how writing there?
    Bye
    Johann

  • Some CSS Questions and Firebug Behaviour.

    Here's my page: http://martcol.co.uk/brightontherapyservice/
    It's a developing site so, I'm still working on it and I know it might be a bit scruffy in places - sorry.
    I'll start with the Firbug thing first.
    If I check Outline > Outline Block Level Elements why do some of the outlines seem to start left and off the screen and why do some of the outlines not form completely?
    If you are able to outline these elements in FireFox this is what I mean:
    A is a border that shoots off to the left and B is an example of a border that does not form completely.  I am asking this because obviously, I don't understand it and more, because I wonder if it indicates something bad.  Which leads me to my next question.
    On some of the individual image panels the box-shadow gets shaved off top and right.  I can make it come back by fiddling with margins but it is such a fiddle I don't know which is the best way to sort it out.
    Thanks
    Martin
    PS: My next question will be about lining up the bottom text panel.  I thought I'd wait to see how you all get on with these questions but since you're here, how can I line that up with the image panels?
    Thanks again.
    BTW - it's WordPress

    A1: if you don't need nating, simply do not use a group.
    A2: route the traffic without checking if it hits a content rule.
    Your acl 1 will permit all traffic and nat traffic from 10.10.10.0/24 when hitting a specific content rule.
    Your acl 2 is the same but if you have more content rules the traffic 10.10.10.0/24 will simply be routed and will not hit any of them.
    We usually use the bypass for cache devices that would need to access a server directly.
    A3: ACL are not mandatory. By default the CSS permits all traffic. If you enable acl so, you then need to explicitly permit the traffic you want to have across the CSS.

  • Quick css question

    Hi guys im relatively new to css ive just learn few of the
    basic to contruct
    a layout in divs.
    i have one issue i dont know how to overcome its just
    positioning a div
    using floats and the clear styles.
    http://www.strongtowerint.org/ginericpage.html
    check the link..I'm trying to have all divs at the top in its
    right full
    area instead the middle content div lingers under neath it
    all and i know no
    way to fix that. i tried floating right and left clearing
    right and left for
    each div and what you see is the best i came up with all
    combos.
    i also tried reizing the width of the content div to no user.
    thanqx for your reply

    Are you using an external .css file for the dynamic text in
    your Flash
    movie, or is the formatting written in actionscript?
    Is some of the formatting working in Safari or is none of the
    formatting
    showing up?
