2 devices 2 accounts

Me and my wife both have iPods and iPhones... I have an iPad and immediately I dropped like 100.00 on apps. I want to buy her one too but not if I have to drop more money on apps... is there a way to share apps in a household... it seems silly that I should have to buy an app twice for my wife????

If you share the account, then you can redownload the app on her computer.
Apps have drm protection and are tied to the account that purchased them.

  • Apple Pay: The last 4 digits of my device account number is not showing up on my phone.

My credit card company needs the last 4 digits of my device account number, and only ***** (stars) show up under my divice account number.  I have 8.1 installed, and have tried restarting my phone.  Any suggestions on how to get my divice account number to show?

It sounds like your bank requires additional authentication before you can use Apple Pay. It does not look like there was a token activated for your wallet. When you are in your Passbook app- does it say under the card that your card is activated and ready for Apple Pay? If it does not, contact your Bank to get DAN (token) activated.
DAN will show once token is provisioned and activated, no need for transaction to occur first.
    Hope this helps.
My credit card is obviously activated, as I was just able to use Apple Pay with it at a store (where they didn't ask for any DAN code). When I view the card in Passbook, it says nothing about whether it's been activated, one way or the other, but obviously the card is working for Apple Pay.
But I just did find the DAN, way, way down at the very bottom of the Info page, below the whole list of recent transactions.
Nowhere in any documentation I've seen does it indicate that this would be at the very bottom and one has to scroll so far down. Does seem like an unfriendly place to put it,

  • Perhaps novice Q: multiple devices/accounts, versus single Mac

My family members have multiple ipads, iphones etc, and separate itunes accounts.  we are in process of consolidating PCs/Macs etc, such that we may only have one main household Mac.  Can one Mac support syncing/updates etc across mulipe devices & accounts, whilst keeping accounts & libraries independant?
i have tried and failed miserably.  i suspect i am missing something obvious any advice?

Well it seems like the first thing you should do is consolidate your iTunes libraries so that you don't have 4 copies of everything, one for each user logged in to your Mac Mini. How you do that is consolidate all 4 iTunes folders to one folder located in the /Users/Shared/ folder and update each of your iTunes to point to that folder accordingly. That way you have one iTunes library, only one copy of your media, but accessible from multiple users.
One caveat is that if somebody is logged on and has iTunes open, you can't fast switch to another user and open iTunes. Apple made it so that only one user and one instance of iTunes can open a iTunes library at a time.
For your iTunes match situation, it does sound like you would be much better off sharing a single Apple ID with one iTunes Match. For consolidating, make sure you have everything everybody has shared via Home Sharing to the main account you'd like to move over to, and then simply go to each device Settings, Store, and the sign out of the original Apple ID and logon using the shared main Apple ID. I just looked at it and the automatic downloading is already live in iOS! You can specify if you want to do music, apps, and books separately in case you may want to automatically download music but not apps or books.

  • Why is digital music is freely copyable, yet movies and eBooks are still tied to a device/account?

If I download a song from iTunes, I can copy it to any device that plays music, even non-Apple ones. Yet if I buy a movie, TV show, or eBook, I can only view it on the device/account I used to make the purchase.
    Why is that?

I will not be able to answer question directly with yes or no, but since it is an excellent question I will try to elaborate. For now we are going to leave icloud drive alone and find out what apple id is associated with backup.
    1. Icloud backup is definitely starts to be attached to icloud id. So if you do need to restore your information from icloud that is the first thing you asked for. But after initial settings restore you are actually asked for all other id's that attached to licensed content that was inside of your phone's backup. So if you downloaded free or purchased some stuff in itunes/app store - your apple id is attached to those and asked for during download. Here is why some people who use torrents to get music will be asked to provide apple id's they do not know and will call Apple or come here to say that their account was hacked.
    2. Itunes backup. Unlike icloud itunes designed in the way where it splits backup in two. Backup of settings - done by "backup now" button. Backup of licensed content - done by transferring purchases (that is done by clicking "file-devices- transfer purchases"). Settings backup is not attached to anything, but restore will place both ID's on the phone. Applications/music backup while not requiring any kind of info for restore, requires appleid to be authorized for the computer in question.
That is probably the best I can do, but would like to add that for any particular situation or with time info above can and will change, as Apple changes mac to me to cloud to drive and to the future.

  • The "right" way to handle multiple devices, accounts and the cloud?

Perhaps a bit premature, but I figure it's never too early to start planning.
Here's our current setup - I currently have four iDevices in the faily (three iPhones and one iPod Touch.  All are syncing to the same Mac Mini, albeit with different logins (and different iTunes store ids).  All four of these are kept in sync via Home Sharing so we have access to the music/apps/etc acquired by the others.
Enter the iCloud - how does this fit in?  What's the *right* way to do this?
    I can see two options:
    1)     Continue to utilize four iTunes store ids, sync them via Home Sharing and add four iClouds
         Advantages
              totally independent devices, users, etc.
         Disadvantages
must pay for four "iTunes Match" services to access non-iTunes music on each of the four devices
will iTunes-purchased music automaticaly sync to iCloud if it is shared via Home Sharing (or only by the original purchaser)?
    2)     Use one iTunes Store id for all iDevices
         Advantages
single point of acquisition and distribution for all devices
         Disadvantages
need to find a way to merge IDs (is this even possible?)
Are there other advantages/disadvantages to these options?  Are there other options?  What's the easiest to set up and support?  Any other thoughts?
Thanks in advance for your input.

  • HT4623 how in the world do I have my children 1 ipod & 1 with iphone be on my itunes (My iphone) so 3 devices account without our devices getting each others texts etc. etc.???

How can i use 2 iphones & 1 ipod on my itunes account without all the devices getting all the texts bewteen all three devices? It also looks like I've lost about 82 songs that have been purchased as they aren't showing in purchased?? Not happy Thanks

When you say "use the same purchasing apple ID for both to share books/music apps"- will this allow him to see what apps I download on his ipod (don't want)? will this allow me to continue to see what apps/games he gets on his ipod, on my phone (do want)? and do I set those changes on both devices?
    To do this:
iPhone: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Automatic Downloads:
         Music: ON
         Apps: ON
         Books: ON
iPod: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Automatic Downloads:
now you decide what he gets automatically.
He doesn't use game center, imessage, facetime or anything else (mainly just games, music and picture taking)- so does he really need his own apple id and email address? also- if he wants to start getting text messages, would i still have access to all of them if he has his own apple id? would i have access to them if he stays on my apple id?
Then he doesn't need an Apple ID.
    Switch in
    Settings > Messages >
         iMessage: OFF
Send & Receive > Apple ID: > sign out
Settings > FaceTime > FaceTime: OFF

  • Simplify My Family Devices/Accounts

I need help!  I've tried researching this through blogs etc.  But it's putting it altogether is the problem!  I have the following devices in the family:
1st Adult Member: iPhone 4s, iPad (with retania display) and own Apple ID for iTunes/iCloud (iTunes loaded onto laptop 1)
2nd Adult Member: iPhone 4s, iPad (with retania display) and own Apple ID for iTunes/iCloud (iTunes loaded onto laptop 2)
3rd Child Member: iPad 2 (synced with adult 1 Apple ID and iTunes/iCloud)
4th Child Member: iPad 2 (synced with adult 2 Apple ID and iTunes/iCloud)
I believe the best way as both children are under 10yrs is too try and put all the devices under one iTunes account/iCloud.  First question is it possible to transfer purchases from one itunes account to another?  This will save me money as probably stupidly the same apps/TV programmes/Movies have been bought for both children but from seperate accounts.
Obviously if this is possible then we can decide what apps/music/contact/calender/photos to synce to each device i.e. The adults don't want childs programmes on iPad or iPhone, but who would I control this?  Am i asking too much here?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Firstly, it isn't possible to transfer purchases from one iTunes account to another. If you wish your children to continue to share an iTunes account, you will need to decide who's iTunes account they share. It should be noted however that you do not need to have all the purchases that are made through an iTunes account on your device.
You can choose what is sent to your device through the sync settings in iTunes when the device is connected to the computer. If you find that purchases made on another device are automatically downloaded to another, then go to settings > iTunes and App Store, and uncheck the options for automatic downloads.
You might wish to consider letting your children have their own Apple ID for iCloud, this will ensure that their calendars, contacts etc will not get mixed up with yours. Whilst they are technically too young to have their own account, there is nothing stopping you having a second account, being responsible for it and letting your children use it.

  • Integrates with optional new device account?

    Hey everyone,
I've come accross this phrase while I was comparing several Blackberry phones (namely 9000, 9700, 8520)
It is one of the properties listed under "E-mail Integrations".
Tbh, I have no clue what it means and Google search doesn't come up with anything.
Anyone to clarify it for me?
    Thanks!

When you create a BIS account, you can create a specific [email protected] email address that can be accessed only from your BlackBerry device. Maybe this is what they are referring to.

  • Device / Account Security

    Hi all,
I have some security questions that I hope to get some more information about.
These questions are sparked because I have reason to believe that my IMEI, SN, SIM#, and who knows what else can be accessed by malicious software, may have been compromised.
    So, here are my questions:
What could someone potentially do if they were able to phish that information from your device?
I have read that some people have found ways to hijack devices and accounts using that information and racking up huge, illegal bills that the account owner gets stuck with.
Aren't the SIM# and IMEI used in conjunction to identify a device with an account?  If I just get a new SIM card, would that make my security concerns go away, since then my IMEI would be tied to a new, non-compromised SIM#?
Thanks for any feedback, tips, or resolutions to this issue!

  • My iHome iD95 won't let me create a tunein account. The response is "device accounts not enabled". I check settings but don't see where this might be. Has anyone had this problem?

My question is in the subject line.

    hi Bern
    Firstly welcome to Crowd Support
The Australian Communications Industry Forum (ACIF) Credit Management code states that Telstra must perform s credit assessment when a customer is applying to us for credit.
For our Credit Assessments to be passed there are many factors of information considered to determine if the Credit Assessment is satisfied.
There are many reasons why a Credit application may be declined, and one of the most common is due to the new Customer not having any previous history with Telstra.
While this may be frustrating for you, in the circumstance of a Mobile Phone contract being involved, we really do need to be sure that we have the correct billing information, up to date contact details and also viability to pay bills on time.
There is a process where this decline decision can be disputed, and I would be more than happy to lodge this dispute for you if you could provide me with some information.
I will send you a PM so that we can work together offline to lodge this dispute.

  • Problems associating device to Apple ID/user account on my mac

    Hiya,
I'm trying to help a friend out by backing up her devices (iPad and iPhone) to my computer so I can update the OS on both.
I had previously sync'd her iPad to my iTunes to back it up, but I then figured afterward it'd be better to create a new user account for her on my computer and sync everything that way, just to ensure that everything is in its right place. The problem that I've come up with is that the iTunes on her user account on my computer doesn't show her device. When I tried to deactivate the device on my user account on the computer, it talked about wiping the iPad which I absolutely do not want to do until I'm assured that it's all backed up first to her user account on my computer. She's had a friend previously who tried to back up her devices and lost everything, so I'm being extra careful to not fall down that path.
I looked at other posts on the Apple support website — stuff about deactivating devices/accounts and all that — but they didn't mention anything about separate accounts on the same computer. I looked at my iTunes Store > Account > Manage Devices and it doesn't list her device, so I'm not sure why it's not letting me disassociate her iPad from my iTunes with the wiping condition. I figured it'd be something to do with sharing a device on multiple Apple IDs, but as far as I'm aware, I've only authorised my computer (or perhaps my Apple ID) permission to sync her device's contents to iTunes. I had hoped that a new user account would get around this as I'm now using her user account with her Apple ID, however no dice. The other annoyance is that she has no music, TV, movies, or books purchased on her Apple ID, only a few apps.
So now I've some how gotten to the point in which I have "transferred" her iPad to iTunes on her user account/Apple ID on my computer and it's got some 90-day timer thing — I have no idea what the **** that's there for since it hasn't been linked to my Apple ID (that I know of), just only authorised on my account/computer.
It's quite confusing and rather daunting. I feel I'm faced with a precarious situation: wipe her iPad and hope that the back-up on my account's iTunes will work correctly; or wait 90 days (why?) to then be able to properly sync her iPad to my computer, by that time I will have left France and can't help her then.
If anyone could please shed some light on my dark position, I would be rather grateful!

It might be too late in terms of time and what has happened with the 90 day lockout problem, but you should be able to create another user account for her on your computer so she can have her own iTunes library. This provide some insight as to how you can do that.
How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer
The 90 day lockout occurs when you associate an iOS device with another Apple ID when you download a past purchase using the second ID. This is Apple's way of preventing users's from downloading each other's paid content for free. There is absolutely no way to overcome the 90 day lockout. You just have to wait it out before the device can be associated with another Apple ID.
This is a great user tip that explains how to transfer the contents of an iOS device into a new iTunes library to create a new syncing library for a user. It might prove to be helpful to you.

  • Can a device be authorized with multiple accounts ?

    Hi There,
Can anyone answer this question  ?
My Sony PRS-300 reader is authorized with adobe account X
A PC is authorized with adobe account Y
Now I want to get an Adobe protected eBook on PC (account Y) on my device (account X)
Adobe digital Editions notifies me that the reader authorized with account X, should be authorized with account Y.
Can I authorize my reader like this and still read all other eBooks which allready were on the reader (and activated with account X) ?
    Thanks in advance,
    A new e-Reader.

Hi, I have a simular issue.
I have two AdobeID's one for my work and one for myself. I'm using my AdobeID for work related documentations and my private for ebook to be read on an ebook reader. Is it possible to authorize my ADE with two AdobeID's or do I need to buy two PC's to be able to use two accounts?

You can't delete an iCloud account.  You can, however, sign out of that account and just stop using it.  Then sign in to your second account on all devices account.
