2 Different contact lists

I searched but couldn't find an answer. Can you have 2 different contact list's on the iphone4?
Say one for personal and one for business contacts. Not concerned about group sms or emails
just would like to keep them apart. Thanks for any advice.

The contacts will always show in one list, but they are still separate. If you remove one account you will also loose the contacts for that account and when you create a new one the phone will ask you to which account the contact should sync.
In the main contact view on the top of the screen you will see which account the contact syncs to. It is possible to link contact details for the same contact on different accounts, but the relevant data will still be separate and be no longer available if you remove the account

Sorry. This doesn't make a lot of sense. Each iPhone user should have their own cloud accounts with which to sync contacts.
The iPhone is not a multi-user device.

Can two different contact lists be created on the iPhone 4S?

Yes, if you don't mind having separate e-mail accounts.  For example, you can have a set of contacts associated with iCloud and another set with Yahoo.  I suppose you could also have a set of contacts synced with your computer (e.g. Outlook) and another set associated with an e-mail account.
In any case, once you have multiple sets of contacts defined then you can choose to show all contacts, or just those associated with a particular account.
Just be aware that there is always a default account for new contacts (defined in Settings).  When you create a new contact they will always be associated with the default account.  If you want to enter a new contact but associate it with a different account than what your default account is, then you need to first change the default.
(Unlike having multiple calendars where you can change the account that an event is associated with at the time you create the event, there doesn't seem to be a similar ability to define the account for a new contact while you're creating it, only the global default contact account in Settings).

  • Can you save two different contact lists on icloud

My daughter and I use the same Itunes account and we both have Iphones.  I was just wondering if there is a way to save my contact list on Icloud along with her without it merging

When two devices connect to icloud using the same icloud account, they are in sync "with the mother ship" - icloud.  If you want two people to have different data on icloud and thus their devices, then each must use a unique Apple ID (different icloud accounts).
BTW, itunes account are different than icloud accounts.  You must be using the same Apple ID on each of your devices to connect to icloud.  (settings>incloud)

  • Is it possible to have two different Contacts Lists in a Mac?

I have to manage two separate Lists of Contacts.  Is this possible in a Mac?  Can I have two different Contacts electronic files?

This is not possible. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Note that you can always create two different groups within the Contacts app, and sort your contacts into one or the other (or both, if any are common to both). Alternately, if the goal is to keep contacts for two different people separate, the appropriate method is to create two different user accounts on the machine, and have each person use their own account.

  • How to maintain 2 different contact lists on 920

I want to move my contacts from another nokia device to my 920,  These are my regular personal contacts that I use all the time for making phone calls.  I also want to sync my work Outlook contacts to the 920 but I do now want them both merged in the "People" app.  How can I keep these two lists seperate?

  • How do i separate 2 different contact lists from 2 iphones that is synced to the same account and macbook?

I just bought an iphone 4s while my wife has already been using an iphone 4s for months. I wish to sync my iphone to the same macbook(account) as my wife's iphone as we use the same apps and listen to the same music.  But we would like to have separate contacts as i do not want my wife's contacts in my iphone and neither does she want mine in hers. How can i separate them?  And if i add new contacts to my iphone, how can i maintain separating them whenever i sync in the future?

i have 2 separate IDs and also 2 separate itunes library hoping the contacts won't sync and mix together but both libraries only syncs from/to the same address book in my MBP. i cant separate the separate the contacts in the address book unless i manually move our hundreds of of contacts into different groups then sync from only my group....  but thats just too much...  any easier way?

  • 2 phones, different contact lists

    Hi,
I wonder if someone can help?
I have an iphone 4, we have just upgraded my wife to my old iphone 4. I have a mega list of contacts, my wife has a sensible list of contacts - we do not want to share them but we want to share itunes, how do we do this please?
    Thanks
    Fults

    Hello Fults,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. You can tell iTunes to not sync contacts. The following article will, just uncheck the box to sync. Alternatively you can also have independent iCloud accounts to handle the contact syncing.

  • Syncing two different 3g iphones contact list

    Hello,
Hopefully someone is still awake. I want to use outlook to save two different contact list. For example, I have a his and her iphone with two different contact list. How do I save two different contact list using outlook?

This is basically my question as well. My email contacts and my phone contacts are not all necessarily the same so I was thinking of creating a separate contact list in Outlook for my iphone. Is there a way to upload only 1 contact list from Outlook to my iphone? Will it affect my Outlook contacts when syncing?

  • Two iPhones using same iCloud account with separate contact lists?

Our family has two iPhones and we each use different contact lists.  If we use the same Apple Id is there a way to separate the contact lists in iCloud or do we need separate account (i.e Apple Id's)?

I have my iphone and ipad on Apple icloud services and it finds both units. I think you have to have different account names set up in order to use it. Do you have itunes? if so you can add the device from there. For instructions go to http://www.apple.com check under support, then forums to see if that has been posted.
    Good Luck

  • N my house we have 2 iphone 4, and everytime we get the same contact list freom each other, how can we unsync the contacts so each user keeps thir own contact list?

n my house we have 2 iphone 4, and everytime we get the same contact list freom each other, how can we unsync the contacts so each user keeps thir own contact list?

Hi user 1724, before icloud, we had the same issue....
so yes,  the solution was to  each log  into the mac separately.
i kept the main itunes library and apple id, and my son made his own itunes library (which linked to the main itunes/apple id)   - so we were able to maintain separate contacts lists.
but then w/ the cloud i guess we assumed the cloud would know we each have different contact lists on diff. phones, but it seems the cloud just lumped it all together -

  • 5800XM can 2 phones with differing contacts and ca...

    Hi all
I have a 5800XM and I love it. My wife also wants to get one and I need to know if it is possible to sync. 2 5800XM's with one PC where each phone has differing contact lists and calendars? I've looked right through the book and it appears to suggest it is possible but until my wife gets hers I won't know. Also, if it don't work then we could foul up our back-ups and lose info.
On another point, is it possible to change the awful red on grey font that displays for names and numbers etc in texts? That is the only fault I've found with my 5800XM. I find it extremely difficult to read under any lighting conditions.
Thanks in advance and regards to all.

Just create a separate user account on your PC for your wife and you will be able to sync and backup both phones on one PC.
The font colours are determined by your current theme.  If you don't like the default theme install an alternative.

  • Using Verizon Messages app on iPad mini: Accessing Verizon contact list

I am a dumbphone Verizon user. I have an extensive contact list in my phone. I use the Verizon Backup Assistant to make sure I don't lose it. I frequently use the browser version of Verizon Messages as some of the smartphones send me text messages containing graphics I cannot see on the dumbphone. This has been working great for me. My dumbphone Contacts pull up nicely. I assume this is pulling from the Backup Assistant database (Verizon Cloud?).
Enter the tablet. I now have an iPad mini. I've installed the Verizon Messages app. The Integrated Messaging is working as expected and I can access messages from all three devices (dumbphone, tablet, PC). However, with the iPad app I am unable to see my Contacts. Is there some form of syncing that I need to initiate between Verizon Messages on the iPad and Verizon Backup Assistant? Does anyone have tips in this area?
I do not sync any contacts to the iPad Contacts. I have so many different contact lists (Gmail, three personal email accounts,  two work email accounts, dumbphone contacts, ...) that I just wouldn't know where to begin. Plus I like having them segregated because there are SO many different people in these lists. I just want to access my dumbphone contacts with the iPad Verizon Messages app.
    Input appreciated. Thank you.

        StFuz,
Lets get those text tones customized to just how you want them! It's going to be easy to get them just how you want them. Please open your Phone app, then select a contact from your All Contacts list. Tap Edit at the top right corner, then scroll down to customize the Text Tone. I apologize, but this is available in the native Message app for the iPhone only. Verizon Messages does not support this feature in iPhones at this time.
