2 different ipods in itunes?

this might be a stupid question but can you have 2 different ipods (touch 2nd gen) & (5TH gen) hooked up? I don't mean at the same time (or can you) BUT when the other one is done, hook the other one up. Will it conflict with the other ones softwere (you know what I mean?)

80 GB 6th Gen Classic
Itunes recognizes which iPod you have connected and displays it.

  • Connecting two different ipods to itunes?

How can i connect a second ipod to itunes that already has one ipod connected to it?. The new ipod was authorised to house pc that has now broken and want to connect it to existing itunes on my laptop without having to delete everything on it and start again. Is this possible?

    Yes, you can do this.
I'd only have one iPod hooked into the PC at one time, though.

  • Album art work different : iPod vs iTunes

The problem I having is when the album artwork which is displayed next to the song name on the iPod, it does not match the artwork I put in iTunes. In fact, if I delete and add the artwork again, the iPod has the same problem. Not only that but when the artwork is added to the song, it will cause the same problem for all the newly added songs. Once in a while, the artwork does match the artwork in iTunes but is seems to be rare for new songs. To complicate the problem, when I push the center bottom to display the artwork on the full screen, sometimes the correct artwork shows up. Very weird. Also, when the artwork is different than iTunes, it is always the same piece of artwork. It is not randomly picking artwork in my collection to display but just one stray piece.
As best as I can tell, this is only happening to the newly added artwork/songs. This problem only started when I upgraded to iTunes 5.0. The rests of the songs in my collection are okay. I am hesitant to remove/reinstall all my artwork because I am not sure if I did this it may cause the problem to escalate to all my albums. Anyone have the same problem? Any suggestions?

I had the same problem all you have to do is connect your ipod then click the options for your ipod then un tick the show album art then update your ipod, disconnect it then re connect it and click the options again then tick the album artwork box unpdate again and viola everything works smooth from then on mine has been perfect since i did it last week

    Hi Imminnie,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  If iTunes doesn't recognize your iPod touch, this article may help:

  • How am i able to use the same itunes account on a different ipod?

How am I able to use the same iTunes account on a different iPod?

By just using the same iTunes account.  If you set up the iPod on your computer just make sure that iTunes is signed your account.  Of settingup via wifi, just enter your existing account.  Do not create a new one.

  • How many different iPods can I sync with my single iMac user/iTunes account?

    Good Day to All,
Can anyone tell me how many different iPods & iPhones can I successfully consistently sync/integrate using my one "user account" in iTunes on my iMac? This ist situation:
I have always (and only) synced etc. my iPhone with my one iTunes UID which is under my ONE "User Account" on my  iMac. Recently, my elderly folks gave me 2 iPods they have never used. One is a little silver 4GB shuffle (the little guy with a built on "belt clip" & it verbally tells you what song and artist is playing. The other is also an iPod shuffle ( only 1GB), also has the metal "pinch to open; belt clip"; also no display, however it came with a little USB Dock and THIS ONE has all of the user controls on the face of it in a circular patter of course..
To have COMPLETE successful "interaction/integration/syncing" etc (with no issues/complications etc) with my iTunes currently and previously only used with my iPhone, do I have to create two new additional "User Login/accounts" on my iMac (one for each iPod) to have all three if my devices work perfectly fine, or can I just use my same iMac login (UID) & iTunes that I use with my iPhone and have no worries?
(ie: I created my girlfriend her own iMac login UID which she has always used for backing up/syncing etc her iPhone with HER iTunes library etc)
In short, does iTunes have the ability to have multiple iPods & my iPhone under my one existing iTunes account AND using the same single iMac login/UID I've always used with my iPhone?
Obviously, I know I could create an iMac login for my mom's, another for my dad's & create them both their individual iTunes accounts, but they really don't want to have to worry about dealing with all that. I'm teetering between just treating them as my iPods and mixing/adding their limited CD's into my library (again, if iTunes allows multiple iPods etc as explained above..
OR; my other thought would be (again, if one iTunes account can integrate the two iPods as seperate devices and to just create ONE iMac UID login and ONE iTunes account under my dad's name, and use that one account for both of their music, both of their iPods, importing their CD's into the same iTunes library, then when syncing etc. just doing selective transfers/sync's of the specific music for each iPod... Even then, will iTunes be able to differentiate the two as far as backups/restored etc? I think  answering my own question as I type due to the cloud... For completely individual cloud interaction/integration, I would def need to create each of them their own iTunes accounts, otherwise they will have all of each other's songs on their devices.. (ie: And my dad def doesn't want to worry about skipping over my mom's Journey or Aerosmith tunes to get to his Willie Nelson and vice versa for example.
(Sorry sooooo drawn out; thinking outloud) I guess it seems obvious that since all their digital music has to be on my iMac, I really should create them each their own iMac UID login as well as their own individual iTunes Acounts to insure cloud services work easily for restores/backups etc...
Thanks for stumbling thru my thought processes here (if I didn't lose ya long ago); I'm exhausted and throwing thoughts at the classroom board to see what sticks.... The best easiest way that is.. (The two aren't always the same obviously!)
Thank you all for your precious time and consideration and most if all; YOUR PATIENCE!! Any confirmation if the options and suggestions are greatly appreciated. You know, gotta take care of the folks & what is the simplest for them as just end users is the most important or they'll NEVER bother with them in the end...
    Respectfully appreciative,
    DB

You can use as many iPods with one iTunes library as you want.

  • Can I have 2 different IPods on the same itunes account and computer?

    I have a nano gen. 4 and a new nano 7.
Can I have them both on my itunes account and computer?
    thanks

Yes. You can easily have multiple iPods on the same iTunes account on the same computer. Each iPod will show up with its name when plugged in, and each iPod can have its own set of preferences (i.e., what music, videos, photos, audiobooks, etc. to sync).
What you can't do easily is use the same iPod on multiple computers with different instances of iTunes. One instance of iTunes has to be "in charge" of an iPod.

  • Can i load two different itunes on the same computer for two different ipods?

Can I load two different itunes on my computer for two different ipods?  Or how can I get it so that when I click on itunes, only my songs come up and not my wifes?  And the same for her.

Yes.  The simplest way is to have separate Windows accounts for each user.  When either user runs iTunes, he/she will have a separate library with distinct content, playlists, etc., and can sync individual iDevices as needed.

  • I purchased songs from 2 different computers using itunes with the same apple id. I had 1 iPod I used for these but I just recently got an iPhone and I was wondering why it wasn't letting me put my purchased songs on my iPhone?

You can transfer iTunes content from an iTunes library on a single computer only.
Since these songs were purchased with the same iTunes account, you can download the song that is not in your iTunes library on the computer you will be syncing your iPhone with. Or you can download the song or songs direct on your iPhone.

  • I have a library on my Ipod Classic and a different one on iTunes.  How can I sync both without losing any files?

I think I may have deleted the original library a while back.  Since then, I have been collecting new files.  Now that I sat down to sync, I am unable to load new files at all.  Is there maybe a way to upload library on ipod into itunes library and then reload all back onto ipod?
I don't want to lose any of it! Help!

You'll want to extract all the content that is currently on the iPod and copy it back over into your new iTunes library.  Once you have successfully done that, you can go ahead and restore your iPod to factory settings and then sync away as restoring the iPod will allow it to sync with the new iTunes library.

  • Computer has different name than Itunes for Ipod Touch

I have an Ipod Touch 4th Generation 32gb. I have had no problems with it or with Itunes. My Mom came last Saturday to visit and she needed to charge her Ipod Touch so I hooked it to my computer where I always have a cord and charged it for about 45 minutes or so. I have no problem with my Ipod or with Itunes BUT when I go look at the device now on my computer, when it is connected to USB cord, it show "Marys Ipod" now instead of "Steves Ipod". In Itunes, it is still "Steves Ipod" and I can sync and all but I really want to get rid of "Marys Ipod" off my computer even though when I open it up, it is my ipod, just mislabed. I know because it has my pictures and her's is only 8gb. My Ipad2, is fine when I hook it up to the USB cord, It says "Steves Ipad" but when I hook my USB cord to my ipod touch, it still reads "Marys Ipod". Is this something I should be concerned about or is it not worth the hassle of trying to restore, etc? I have tried to change the name, but Windows won't allow. I do have Windows 7. I have also got the new update on Itunes and the new software(5.0) version.
I am stumped. I have googled this and have searched for over 3 hours today on how to fix this. Ready to bang my head against the wall. I have did a reboot on Ipod, I have restarted the computer. I have not reinstalled anything including Itunes.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? I would sure appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

I just found the answer to this after hours of searching online. Make sure your iPod is hooked up to your computer & turned on.
Click on "Start" and in the search box type "regedit". This will display a program called "Registry Editor". Open it.
Click on the "Edit" tab and select "Find...". Type "Mary" in the search box and click "Find Next". It will bring up a list of everything that has "Mary" in it. (You may have to click on "Find next" under the "Edit" tab in order to find the associated items that have something to do with both "iPod" and "Mary".) What you need to pay attention to is not the NAME, but the DATA column. For me, the wrong iPod name was listed in 2 places in the data column. The actual names of those 2 items were "FriendlyName" and "Label".
Once you find the associated items that have to do with both the iPod and "Mary", right click on one of them. Select "Modify...". A box will open giving a "Value Name" box and a "Value Data" box. The "Value Data" box should say "Mary's iPod". All you have to do is change it to "Steve's iPod" and click "OK". Repeat the "Modify..." and renaming of the "Value Data" steps for every item that says something about "Mary's iPod".
Close the Registry Editor. Open "my computer" and see that it changed the name of your iPod back to "Steve's iPod".
Best Answer So far.....it really works...Thanks a million

I have an itunes account.  However, I need to copy music onto a different iPod than my own.  How do I do that?  Do I need to create a separate iTunes account for that iPod?

An account means an iTunes Store account which is an online service.  Do you mean that, or do you mean a library on a computer?
iOS devices can only be synced to one iTunes library at a time.  You can sync that iPod to your account but it will wipe everything currently on it.
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod - http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201253 - detailed example: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18860187#18860187
If you use manual syncing, you can sync items from more than one iTunes library to your iPod. (You can sync iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad with only one iTunes library.) When manually managing content, you can add content from multiple libraries to your iPod or iPad. Even when manually managing music, some content may be available from only one library at time. This includes all content on iPhone and video content on iPod and iPad. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12113  and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202
I could post another 2 pages of stuff trying to cover every possible scenario.  It would help if you let us know exactly what you want to do.  Are you trying to sync just a few songs (like giving them to a friend which is something iTunes is deliberately set up not to do)?
