2 GB Ram From Walmart

I'm looking into installing more ram into my macbook and found this ram at walmart for a heck of a lot cheaper! The only questions I have is, is this ram any good and will it actually work in a macbook?

Thank you
G

Ya gotta love WalMart... they give you all the important specs...
+*Model No.:112995*+
+*Shipping Weight (in pounds):0.1*+
+*Product in Inches (L x W x H):7.1 x 2.7 x 2.4*+
+*Assembled in Country of Origin:USA and/or Imported*+
+*Origin of Components:USA and/or Imported*+
+*Wal-Mart No.:000000000*+
I can't find an exact match with the model number above... but there's a good chance that it's not correct anyway looking at the wealth of useful info they provide. But NewEgg.com does carry what appears to be the same RAM for about the same price. Personally... I'd go with NewEgg.

Hi, and a Warm Welcome to the Power Mac G5 Forum!
Well - the G5 RAM specs are here
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86414
Some of the Apple Original G5 RAM was Samsung, apparently.
You will not go far wrong purchasing RAM from OWC with their "Lifetime Advance Replacement Warranty"...
Personally I have never had a problem with Crucial
    http://crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=1D1DFB01A5CA7304
who have a similar guarantee. And the parent company of Crucial - Micron - were also suppliers of Apple Original G5 RAM, apparently. Good Luck.

  • Is it possible to use the ram from a macbook in a iMac?

I am installing new ram on my Early 2011 Macbook Pro (2.3 Ghz., 13 inch, os x 10.9.4). Can I install the old ram from my Macbook Pro into a Mid-2011 iMac(2.7 Ghz., 27 inch, os x 10.9.4)? These links show the ram specs, and they look identical to me. iMac: How to remove or install memory  MacBook Pro: How to remove or install memory

You can try visiting/searching the Expanding your Power Mac G5 forum. You'll find A LOT of help about RAM issues.
Any RAM brand must work but you maust be sure it follows the MAc specs. Some brand sites have good product locator by computer manufacturer/model (i.e. Kingston and Crucial). In fact there is no Apple branded RAM, they use a lot of different ones.
Inside FCP settings you'll find how to manage the memory that the program use, but that settings depends on the total quantity of memory you have installed, and you didn't post that information.

I would opt for one 8 GB stick so you would have 10 GB. total. This says really no practical advantage in dual channel memory

will i have any problem like compatibility??
    thank you.

A Mid 2010 MacBook Pro supports 16 GB of memory without any problem. Macs are "special" about memory because some brands work without any problem and others don't work. That's why I recommend you to buy the memory from OWC or Crucial in order to make sure that you get compatible memory > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3

  • I have a late 2012 iMac and a late 2009 mac mini.  I want to know if I can take the 8 GB of ram from the iMac and install it in my mac mini.

I have a late 2012 iMac and a late 2009 mac mini.  I want to know if I can take the 8 GB of ram from the iMac and install it in my mac mini.
According to Cruicial my mac mini could use:
    Module Size: 8GB Kit (4GBx2)
    Package: 204-pin SODIMM
    Feature: DDR3 PC3-8500
    Specs: DDR3 PC3-8500 • CL=7 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1066 • 1.35V • 512Meg x 64
Also According to Cruical my iMac uses:
    Module Size: 8GB Kit (4GBx2)
    Package: 204-pin SODIMM
    Feature: DDR3 PC3-12800
    Specs: DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.35V
I want to increase the ram in both computers.
So,  can I put the iMac ram in my mac mini and then I'd only have to buy ram for my iMac?  Naturally the ulitmate test will be when I actually install it,  but having an expectation of success or failure will allow me to plan on what to spend money on.
    Thanks,
    Bear

Thanks for the responses.  I probably wont even try as my priority is Ram for the mac mini.  2 is not enough.  8 for my imac is okay for now.
Somewhere I thought I'd heard that faster Ram would simply clock at the lower speed.  It seems that I am incorrect.
    Thanks,
    Bear

  • Can you get an iphone 5 at target that uses AT&T or Verizon network and use the Straight Talk plan from Walmart?

Can you get an iphone 5 at target that uses AT&T or Verizon network and use the Straight Talk plan from Walmart? I don't have AT&T or Verizon network and I don't want to get them but I was just wondering if you can get the iphone 5 that is at target and use it for the straight talk plan. I will be getting the straight talk plan but I would like to do some research on the iphone 5 first for straight talk. At walmart the phone is $544.99 and I think it will be a lot cheaper to buy it at target.
    Thank You!

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive.  It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas?  I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

  • Can I swap ram from a Powermac G4 400 PCI into a Powermac G4 Quicksilver?

    Hi,
I have a Powermac G4 400mhz PCI, but I'm looking at getting a Powermac G4 Quicksilver 933. I wondered if I can swap some ram from my Powermac G4 PCI into a Quicksilver.
I have gone to the Crucial website and it says the Powermac G4 PCI and the Powermac G4 Quicksilver both take SDRAM, PC133.
But in my Haynes Mac manual it says the Powermac G4 requires SDRAM, PC100.
Who is correct? I would rather swap of course to save money.
    Thanks.

    Hi, thanks for the replys.
I have gone into about this Mac, more info and this is the info I get about the memory:
    DIMM3/J22:
    Size: 256 MB
    Type: Unknown
    Speed: Unknown
    Status: OK
I have recently upgraded to 10.4.8.
I'm sure under 10.4.5 a lot of the info for my ram was not 'unknown'.
Are there any utilities out there that will give me more ram info?
On the Crucial website they have one but it is for PC's only. I'm sure one of the 256 ram sticks are PC133 SDRAM as I bought a ram stick from Crucial about a year ago.
    Thanks again.

  • Transfering Ram from G3 beige tower into 8600/300

    Hi all,
My G3 mini tower has 640 mgs ram and my older brother gave me the 8600/300 PowerMac which has 256mgs ram. Can I swap rams from the G3 into my 8600? They show the same specs 168 pin dimms. thanks for your help. Web dude

    Web dude,
Close but no cigars. There are two alignment notches in the ram sticks. They look the same but actually, there is a 1mm difference in the spacing of one notch. Do not try to force the one into the other machine.
As you look at the ram sticks for the 8600, you will notice that in the middle (on most brands - I am sure someone will come up with a brand that does not follow the norm : ') ) is a buffer chip that does not match the other silicon chips.
So, the G3 sticks will have an even number of chips and the earlier sticks will have an odd number and the odd one will be the buffer chip.

  • Ram from G5 to intel

Will extra ram from my iMac g5 work in the new intel imac i am planning to get?
    thanks.

As mentioned, no they are not interchangeable.
While the iSight iMac do use DDR2 RAM, it is a full 240-pin chip and not the 200-pin SODIMM that is used now in the Intel-based iMacs.

  • Third Party RAM from DMS

    Hello,
I have been reading all the threads about third party RAM and was checking to see if anyone has had any luck with the 8GB kit from Data Memory Systems. I have had good luck with RAM from them in the past, but the Mac Pro stuff sounds like a whole new barrel of monkeys.
This is what I have been looking at:
    8GB Kit (4 x 2GB) DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) CL5 1.8v 240 Pin ECC FBDIMM (FullyBuffered) Apple Approved
DDR2 667MHz fully-buffered ECC Memory w/ Apple Approved Heat Sink
This kit consists of four 2GB FBDIMMs.
NOTE: For Apple users. These FBDIMMs use an Apple Approved Heat Sink manufactuered by Netlist. They have been tested and Approved by Apple.
It sounds good to me, but I thought I would see if anyone has had recent experience with it before I shell out the 1800 bucks.
    Thanks!
    MacPro 2.66 4 GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Every day or two I am seeing ECC correctable errors (2) from one of the OWC 1GB DIMMs.
With today's prices and how this is 'new territory' for most of these vendors, FBDIMMs being a small market, that while OWC's look very similar and nicely constructed - they may not be. But OWC is so close that a 3PM order gets here the next day... I decided to give their RAM a try and my business instead of Crucial this time.
I'm sure the specs read nice. But before putting US$2,000 or something on the line...
Not sure what the status of "correctable" errors and how concerned I should be. So I have been running Memtest to try and "hit" just that DIMM - hard.
