2 holds on my debit card

I purchased a gaming computer to be shipped to the store. On the 6th BB put a hold on my card for 786.56. Then on the 12th BB placed another hold on my card for the same amount. Thats 1573.12 tied up. Can we clear one of these out? I have bills to pay and I can't because of this. Please resolve!

Hello ColleenFarley,
It would be quite frustrating to have multiple authorizations for such a large amount on your account! Generally speaking, if we renew an authorization, it is because the previous one has expired. Using the information registered with the forum, I was able to locate your order.
It appears that my suspicion of the previous authorization expiring and a new one being completed is correct. With that said, your financial institution may take a few business days to process such transactions. If you should not see the previous authorization dropped in the next few days, please let me know.

  • Want to buy a app from the app store with debit card but it's not working

How do I buy apps with my debit card

Sign in to the iTunes Store. You can do that from the iTunes menu bar.
    Click Store > Sign In
Then back to the menu bar click Store > View My Account
In the Account Information window click the Edit button to the right of Payment Type
Enter your debit card number, the expiration date, and the security code from the back of the card.
Enter your billing address. Your billing address must be the same as the billing address on your debit card account.
    Then click Done.
Now you can purchase iTunes media.
Sometimes on new accounts Apple will place an "authorization hold" on your debit card for approximately $1. If you see this charge on your debit card statement, it's ok, Apple will credit that amount back in 24 to 48 hrs. All that is doing is verifying your account status.
And when you make purchases, take into account any applicable taxes and fees > iTUNES STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Best Buy "HOLDS" 2X the authorized amount on a Debit Card?

My bank just alerted me to having 2 charges for a single purchase from Best Buy - it was a portable ac.  My online account already shows both charges deducted.
I call customer service and the first rep tells me - only one charge was authorized - nothing we can do, deal with your bank.
I call bank and they say Best Buy must go thru their Merchant Services to even see the double charges then call the bank to restore the funds.  They said get a supervisor.
I call Best Buy again, and 2nd rep says money is being held and Best Buy will only receive the amount when I get the shipment delivered.  No explanation about why they are holding DOUBLE the amont of the purchase.  They said the extra charge will be dropped automatically after 2 days - like they can tie up my funds at will too bad.
So is this normal procedure when you use a debit card to make an online purchase?  I've never had a merchant do this sort of thing. Just because technically its being "HELD" and will be "dropped" this is ok? My bank tells me its up to Best Buy to authorize the cancellation on the extra charge.  I was planning to use the extra funds this month on some sale items including a new tablet but now am scared to buy anything online from Best Buy.

    Greetings,
Having twice the amount of an order unavailable from your account would be quite frustrating, especially if you have limited funds available. Our normal process when an order is placed is that an authorization is placed on the account to verify that the funds are available, and the funds should not actually be collected until the order ships. If items ship separately, the funds should be collected only for the items that have shipped.
Depending on your financial institution, the authorization may make the funds unavailable all together, or it may only appear as a pending charge as we have not collected any funds yet. Depending on how your financial institution processes transactions, you may see the authorization and charge on your account at the same time until your financial institution drops the authorization. Typically, the authorization is dropped on our end when the funds are finally collected. Information on authorizations and collections can be found on our Conditions of Use page on BestBuy.com.
I was able to review the order once I located it using the email address you registered with the forum. It appears that the only transactions would have been the authorization and the collection of funds. That being said, I would recommend reaching out to your financial institution in regards to the authorization that is likely still holding the funds on their end. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. If you should have any questions, please let me know.

The item cost about $74.00 but Bestbuy is hold that twice making $148.00 unusable. Is that even legal? I mean that is going to get people into overdraft with their bank. Guys like me have no idea they did this.

I had a few friends that went into overdraft buying from bestbuy but now I think I know why.

    Hi Cain,
Pre-ordering should be a fairly simple and pleasant process. It is regrettable to hear that you somehow are seeing two authorizations on your account.
To clarify our authorization and collection method, we will initially authorize the account for the full amount of the order, to ensure the funds are available. From that point on, we will reverse the authorization and actually collect funds as the items ship. If the financial institution in question has a delay with reversing authorizations and collecting funds, it is possible to see both transactions at once.
Similar processes will occur if you have multiple items and they ship at separate times. The difference would be the authorized amount for the item shipping would be reversed, and collected. Then, the remaining funds would be reauthorized for the new amount. With your pre-order, it is likely the authorization will expire, and release the funds to you. Upon release of the item, your card should be reauthorized for the appropriate amount and the funds collected as usual.
Using the email address you registered with the forum, I was able to locate your order and look at the transactions from this order. Presently, it would appear that we’ve only authorized the original amount once, but then reversed a portion of that authorization as it appears you’ve regrettably canceled part of your order.
If you are seeing more than one authorization, please know that authorizations do expire after a few business days. If you are still seeing both authorizations in a week or so, please let me know. In the meantime, I would recommend reaching out to your financial institution for more information.
For more information, feel welcome to check out our Conditions of Use page on BestBuy.com.

  • HT1918 About the authorization hold on credit card, what if mine is a debit card?

About the authorization hold on credit card, but mine is a debit card and the bank informed me that they have already charged my bank account.
What should I do? Will I receive the money back?

Authorization holds should work the same with a debit card. If the hold doesn't get released in a few days and the money refunded by your bank, you'll need to contact your bank and get them to sort it out.
    Regards.

  • HT5137 I made a purchase with my debit card on The Simpson Tapped out game, And now my game won't open. It just kicks me out every time I click on it. How do I fix this problem with out deleting my app?

I made a purchase with my debit card on The Simpson Tapped out game, And now my game won't open. It just kicks me out every time I click on it. How do I fix this problem with out deleting my app?

Personally, I would never use a debit card online, for security reasons.  If your card gets hacked its your money that is stolen.  At least with a credit card it is the card providers money that is stolen.
Anyway,  I would delete the app and re-install.  If you paid for the app in the first place you will be able to re-install free of charge.  Also, the app should allow the in-app purchase to happen again as it should recognise that you have already purchased it previously.
Finally, it might be that the 3G doesnt have as much ram as more recent models of iphone and you may have applications running in the background that are preventing the app to function with the in-app purchase unless you shut down any apps eating all you memory that are running in the background.  Shut-down these apps (and the simpson tap out app) by exiting to your home screen and double-tapping the home button to show what apps are running in the background.  press and hold any of the open apps until it starts shaking.  close all the apps down.  exit then re-launch the app.
    good luck.

  • Can you use a debit card to purchase and download apps or does it have to be a credit card

can i use a debit mastercard to download apps or does it have to be a credit card? I used my debit card to buy and download afew apps but now i cant even download free apps without being asked for my billing info and when i enter the info it says it is incorrect when it isnt.

I think it has to do with the way that you order thru ATT. When you order, they put a hold on your account for the purchase amount. In 3-5 days( for PNC) when PNC doesn't see the purchase go thru, they release the funds. ATT will take the money when your phone ships. If you go to the Apple store, they don't take a deposit. They put your name on the priority list and you only give your card when you pick your phone up.

  • Why can I no longer make payments to itunes with my debit card?

I have for many years used my ebit card as the method of payment on my account, but last month it failed and now wont accept the details at all.
Any help welcome as I dont have a credit card.

    Hello Horsewood74,
Thanks for the question. Have you recently moved or changed addresses on your Debit card? Sometimes if the iTunes Store does not have the up-to-date information like zip code, your payment may be declined:
When there is a mismatch between the iTunes Store's records and your credit card company's records, you will receive an error message stating that your credit card's security code isn't valid or that your zip code does not match your bank's records.
In most cases, this issue is caused by a formatting error in the billing address that you have provided. You can correct the issue by verifying that the information you have provided is correct, or by changing the format of your address to match the format that your credit card company has on file.

As with many other merchants, the iTunes Store and Mac App Store places an authorization hold on your payment card account for the approximate amount of any purchase you make. If you update your billing information, the iTunes Store or Mac App Store will place an authorization hold on your payment card account, usually in the amount of 1 USD or the local currency equivalent, to verify your account information.

  • HT204088 you have taken 1.58 from my debit card and i do not know why. There is no history for it. Please tell me what it is for

You have taken 1.58 from my debit card and i do not know what for. There is no history for it. Please tell me what it is for. Thank you

We are fellow users here on these forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple, we won't know.
Have you added or changed your credit card details on your iTunes account ? If you have then each time that you do so a small temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.

  • Account opening using debit card

    Hi.
i am from india i have icici debit card no credit card i want to publish my game on apple store. so how can i do this can it possible to get apple developer purchase of 99$ using debit card (ICICI bank VISA debit card )

can I use my Debit Card for purchasing Apps from iTunes App Store for India.
Supported payment methods should be listed when you go to create an acccount.
When is iTunes Store(Music) for India launching!!!
This has been asked and answered here dozens of times. Music and video content in the iTunes Store will come to other countries when Apple can work out all the multitude of licensing, copyright and royalty issues with all the various entities that hold the distribution rights in your country. When that will happen, no one outside of Apple can say and Apple won't until they're ready to officially announce. Anything anyone here could say would be just rumor and speculation, and neither are allowed in the Discussions.
Sorry, but we'll all just have to wait and see what happens.

  • I have a debit card but would like to download apps from the store. how do I do that? I can't possibly get a credit card just for this. please help.

    Hi,
I have an iTouch. I'd like to download some free apps. but I have a debit card but would like to download apps from the store. how do I do that? I can't possibly get a credit card just for this. please help.

I really do not think it is the iPad or your network connection. Other users have reported this very same issue. Try this and see if it works for you - it may not work - but it's easy to try - harmless - and it has worked in the past for others.
Try signing out of your account and restart your iPad.
Go to Settings>Store>Apple ID and tap the ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. Go back to Settings>Store> Apple ID and sign in again.

  • My iTunes has a 25.00 credit on it but whenever I try buying music it tries charging my debit card instead of using the $25

My iTunes has a 25.00 credit on it but whenever I try buying music it tries charging my debit card instead of using the $25

What happens when you try to buy a song, what messages/prompts do you see on the screen (gifting will require card details) ? If this is the first time that you've tried to buy something on the account, then unless the instructions on this page are followed when creating an account : Create an iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store account without a credit card or other payment method - Apple Suppor…
then card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store.
Have you tried entering card details to see if it is charged for the purchase (you may see a temporary store holding charge go on the card which your card issuer should remove within a few days or so) ? You should be able to remove card details after entering them.

  • How can i set up an apple id for a child in family share with a debit card?

I am  a new iphone user and I would like to setup a family share account on the cloud for my daughters. It says I should be able to use a debit card, but it keeps telling me that I need a credit card to prove I am an adult? My card is a debit/credit card.

You can't. The use of a credit card to verify your identity and give consent for a child to access online services that may collect data is a legal requirement. You can change the payment method after setting it up if you like.
If that presents a problem for you, complain to your congressman. Apple didn't implement the requirement because the wanted to, but because the law requires them to.
