just arrived at my summer home, itunes says there is an ipad software update...if i try to sync with this computer all my apps and music will be lost...do i have to wait until i go back to florida in december to install the update??

Try right-click at the icon of your device, when connected it, and then click "backup" (or what it is called on english). Then you have a backup of your device, and then you can use this after the update.

i just purchased a file that had videos in it. i put them in the itunes library on my pc where i first downloaded them. i was able to transfer them to my other pc, a laptop, through my home network. i am now trying to get them on my mac pro desktop and my ipad2. my mac pro can see the other computers on my home network but i cannot get it to connect to them. i know the operating systems are different but was hoping i could transfer pictures and files from pc to mac this way. haven't been able to get it to work yet. the videos i am trying to get my mac to see came in a folder with both mac and pc versions. i thought if i got the videos i purchased into itunes that i would then be able to get them to my mac pro and my ipad2. i am new to mac/apple and have always been pc-centric so trying to marry it all has been difficult. i speak pc pretty well but am just learning apple. am i trying to do things that are not possible? i sure could use a knowledgable friendly soul to walk me through my issues of having pc and mac on the same network. i have been able to get all computers and ipad to print on my network. thanks.

It seems bizarre to suggest either of these fixes because they both require the use of the home button. However, I haven seen reports that both of these "fixes" have worked for other users in the past. They may not work for you, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If still no luck, take your iPad to an Apple Store and let a genius take a look at it. You have the iPad 2 and it still has to be under the one year warranty.

Why is home sharing computers not showing up in iTunes (lion)?

I'm wondering if someone can tell me why home sharing computers aren't showing up in my iTunes even though both computers are on and authorized to use my itunes account.

Limit on Number of Home Share Computers?

I think there was a limit on the number of home share computers you could have long ago. I did home sharing with my mom on her computer a few years ago via my home LAN. We took her computer to her assisted living facility so she could enjoy music. She has since passed on and the computer has been cleaned. How do I get that one home share count back or is that not an issue anymore?

In Latest version of SAP MDM which is 7.1 we have the liberty to use multiple Main tables so answer to your question is yes we can use 20-30 main tables, now the question is that what type of data model you are prepairing this question is just to understand your entire structure and may be suggest some thing at higher level on which you can think and then take corrective action as per your thoughts.
Generally even if you are integrating Customer/Products in single repository and then designing the main table you wont have to prepare such huge number of main tables you can have these two main tables and then rest of then as sub tables and refer it to each other also you need to know what imapct it will have on system performance becuase they would be referring to each other and also if you are creating some thousands of records in each repository then it is more advisable to use limited number of main tables and use MDM to it's fullest capability by designing such model that we have best utlisation of server performance.

Is there a way to see which computers are part of this home sharing network so I can delete some?

there is no option to view which computers you have authorized but if you log into your iTunes store account, you will be able to see how many computers are authorized.
in order "reset" your 5-computer-limit you need to deauthorize all machines, then reauthorize those you currently use/have access to. click here for more information.

Try forgetting the wifi network. Touch the little blue arrow next to your wifi network and choose forget.
Reset your router. After you've reset etc, try connecting to it again with your iPhone.

IMac not finding home networked computers anymore

My iMac, and my powerbook, have always, up to recently, been able to see the PC's in my home network but now cannot. Interestingly enough, since those computers are under the recent list in the Apple menu, if I click on them in the recents list, I can connect to them. But what happens if for some reason the recents list becomes cleared or corrupt?
Basically, why can't browse servers to find those computers anymore? No changes that I am aware of have been made to my home network.

This has to be a bug in the current OS version... it certainly wouldn't have been my choice if I were a product manager at Apple. This is a problem that I think many recent "switchers" have encountered and I would like to know how to resolve it so it makes sense. Here's my nightmare:
I'm 99.9% sure that at one time, that my transition PC (LoL) showed up in the sidebar, and it showed up by name... not IP address. Same goes for my ThinkPad notebook, the LinkSys print server, and my wife's PC. So, what I think happened is that perhaps I clicked on the triangle in the sidebar and "collapsed" or eliminated the "Shared" section. There does not seem to be a way to restore the "Shared" nomenclature in that sidebar... or if there is, it's evading me.
I can "connect" to the missing PCs by using the workaround suggested by Warren, but I still think that one should be able to see these "gone missing" PCs under a shared heading in the sidebar. I can walk over to the PC in question, and simply use Windows Explorer, click on Network, and BAM! I can see my iMac, the ThinkPad, the PrintServer, my wife's PC and so on. Click on any of them and shared directories are presented for transferring files around the house in an instant. So it irks me that my wonderful iMac has given me an obstacle course instead of an easy to navigate network solution.

Try this calibration procedure:
Open a stock iOS app (e.g., Clock). Once the app is open, press your iPad’s power button until the ‘slide to power off’ screen appears. From that screen, press and hold your Home button until iOS force quits the stock app you have open. You’re done!

My iPhone and iPad struggle with my home wifi, computers are always fine??

Hi all, so I just moved into a new townhouse in December. I am running a wifi network on 2.4ghz using an airport extreme and two airport express stations for airtunes. My computers never have any issue connecting to the wifi network, however, my phone and ipad have constant connectivity problems in terms of consistent network connectivity. The wifi signal will be fine, but the actual internet connectivity will be intermittent. I'm curious what the problem could be?
I know my home wifi is the only network running on the channel I am using in my area as I've used the mountain lion wifi utility to scan the available networks and what channels they are on.

is the setup between your different airport stations new ? or exactly the same as in your older home installation ? May you have to reset/rebuild your network. As an example: if you use WDS Services and change the airport positions physically my results connection problems. On other hand, may using DHCP or static adresses ? On DHCP try to renew adresses on your iOS device.

TS1398 I can no longer connect to my home wireless on my ipad2, have done all the suggested fixes, still cannot connect. Daughter cannot connect her iPod, but husbands laptop is connected to wireless.

All of a sudden my ipad will not connect to our home wireless. I have reset the wireless settings, turned my ipad off and back on, turned off wireless and back on, basically have done all of the fixes suggested and still I cannot connect. My daughter cannot connect her iPod either, but my husbands laptop can and is connected to our wireless. The wireless is working and until two days ago I had no problems connecting.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

ITunes Match - Home/Work Computers

I have iTunes match set up on my iTunes account on my home computer. My wife has iTunes on her work computer under her own speperate account (she set it up before we met). Can she log into iTunes under my account and get access to my iTunes Match music?

Just to expand on Michael's answer a bit...
The short answer is that she can log into and use your Match account provided she doesn't have a Match account of her own *and* she doesn't ever download any of her own previous purchases on the computer (including auto-download).
In order to use Match, you have to "associate" the computer with your AppleID, in addition to "authorizing" the computer to play the content. While you can authorize multiple AppleIDs on a single computer, you can only associate a single AppleID per computer (not per user account!!) *and this can only change every 90 days*.
You also need to associate the computer to redownload previous purchases, including auto-download of purchases on another device.
So if your wife logs into your Match account, she will be blocked from redownloading anything she has purchased for 90 days. If, after that, she redownloads anything, she will be locked out from logging into your Match account, and so on.

I am trying at the moment with fingers crossed.
One has Leopard the other Tiger. I hope it works.
Oh I turned on airplane mode and disconnected from the internet just to be sure sync doesn't get stuck.
Asked me to resolve 6 conflicts.. that's a good sign. It is taking a long time though. I hope it won't take so long every time I go from one computer to another. Otherwise it is easier to pass the files via iChat.
The file for address book is addressbook data in library/applicationsupport/address book
for iCal I make an export VCal file and then on the other computer delete the calendar and import the new one.
On the computer with Music I set it to manage manually.
OK I think I will have to do it like that because this took forever then it said it would have to modify 836 entries on my calendar for what was almost the same file.
The photo sync is annoying but I just turn off iPhoto when it asks to find my library (or you can make another program be the default program when you attach a camera and that program will come on then you can just quit it). I find the auto photo sync annoying as it takes so long and I would rather do that manually.
