2 I Phones and one computer

I have had an iphone since July and my husband just bought one in November.
Right now we are sharing the same itunes account so we can share music. What is the best way to keep our contacts separate? All of my contacts and calendar went on his iphone after one sync.
Is there a way to do this while we share the same account or do we need separate itunes accounts?

Obviously it's not something that Apple would suggest doing, but if you want to share 1 iTunes account, I would suggest creating a new admin account on your system, or using another computer. You can authorize an Apple ID on up to 5 computers. To do this open iTunes select Store (from the top menu) and Authorize computer.
If you are worried about getting all the content into another user. There are 2 ways;
1. If all of the content is purchased from the iTunes store, you would want to connect up the iPhone to iTunes (in another user) cancel the sync if it starts automatically, or before connecting up the iPhone launch iTunes and go to (Windows Edit/Preferences .. Mac iTunes/Preferences) go to the Device tab and select 'Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods' .. however this does not always work. Authorize computer in the new user. Once the iPhone is connected and this user account is authorized with your shared Apple ID, go to File/Transfer purchases from iPhone. This will bring over any purchased content.
2. If not all the content is purchased, put all the content onto a flash drive, log into the test user, open iTunes, authorize the computer in this new user account and then bring over all the content. Once this is done, make sure that you can play the purchased content in the new user.
Or you can put only the non-purchased content onto the flash drive, and then do step 1 and 2 to get all your data over.
Hope this is helpful, enjoy! ✰

  • We synched two phones to one computer and updated both.

She went through and deleted my contacts on her phone personally. They then were deleted off my phone. How can I get them back? I had tons of information that is now "gone"

You may be able to restore a previous backup: iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software.
Bear in mind that when using two phones on one computer that you cannot have separate information such as contacts or calendars. You can sync a different set of applications and music, but they come from the same main library.
The only way you can each have completely different data for two phones is to have two Apple IDs and separate user accounts on the computer.
iDevices are not multi-user devices like the ocmputer.

  • Multiple Iphones with separate apps and one computer

I've researched this and can not find any help on either the apple site, internet and not really in here clearly.
We have multiple iphones each with their own apps and information and one computer. My husband doesn't want my apps installed on his iphone and I don't want his either.
How can we sync and update our phones using one computer and back them up without overwritting each phone with the others apps. Especially if a restore needs to be done, itunes holds one phones set of apps.

Because the iPhone does not support disk mode as with most iPods, which is probably for security reasons which isn't a concern with an iPod.
I'm concerned what will happen when I get a new PC.
No reason to be concerned. You need to transfer your iTunes library from your old PC to your new PC - the iTunes named folder located in your Music folder and with iTunes quit on the new PC, place the iTunes folder in the Music folder. You also need to authorize your new PC with your iTunes account with iTunes.
When getting a new computer, you transfer your iTunes library and content along with all other important data that you will need or want to access on your new computer such as photos, documents, etc.

  • Can you have two I phones on one computer?

I am wanting to sync both my son and my phone on one computer but keep the information on them such as songs seperate. Is this possible? Thanks.

Yes, iTunes will recognize each device as an individual phone and remember the settings for each one.

  • I have 3 i-4 phones and one app account. I paid for one game, how do I download it to the other two phone without paying again.

I have 3 i-4 phone and one app account. I have paid for one game, how do I download this game to my other 2 i-4 phone whitout paying again?

There is no device limit for the number of iPods, iPads, and iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on the same computer. Each device can have its own sync preferences with iTunes along with iTunes creating and maintaining a backup for each device, which is updated by iTunes automatically as the first step during the iTunes sync process.
Since all iTunes content on each iPhone - all music, movies, tv shows, audio and print books, and 3rd party apps should be in your iTunes library on your computer, connect the other two iPhones to iTunes and under the Apps tab for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, select the game to be installed on the iPhone followed by a sync. Repeat for the other iPhone.

i broke my iphone and got a new one. My iCloud backup has a backup from the old phone and one from the new phone. The new phone didnt download everything from the original icloud backup. Is there a way to download the stuff i didnt get back? please help

You'll have to do another restore from the old phone backup.  But before doing that, tell us what was not restored.  For example is it just photos that didn't get restored?  If so, that seems to be a common problem for many users, judging by the posts left in the forum.  There doesn't seem to be a solution to that problem (other then to tell users to ALWAYS sync photos to a computer and never trust an iCloud backup/restore to save photos.

  • Two Different Generation IPod Nanos and one Computer

Okay so my boyfriend and I have two different geneeration IPod Nanos and one computer.. does it affect either device's performance ? and is it possible to have itunes setup so that he can have he's music sync to he's Ipod and vice ver sa without having any hassle? .. does this make any sence?

In your case it is most likely a drive letter confusion issue. Take a look at the following article and see if the steps help fix your issue:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • TS1347 Syncing contacts with multiple phones on one computer

how can I sync multiple phones on one computer without deleting or sharing contacts from each phone?

You'd need a contact application that supported creating contact groups, then you could select what groups/group to sync to each phone.

  • I just updated and synced my phone and now all of my music and apps are missing from my phone and my computer! *** do I do?, I just updated and synced my phone and now all of my music and apps are missing from my phone and my computer! *** do I do?

now all of my music and apps are missing from my phone and my computer! *** do I do?, I just updated and synced my phone and now all of my music and apps are missing from my phone and my computer! *** do I do?

    i had the same fright
The update takes a LONG time... but with the new system, you can keep using your phone during the update, so it doesnt FEEL like it is updating...
you have probably interrupted the update, just like I did
plug your phone in... "continue the update" or hit the sync button to psh it in... and leave it there
unless you have enabled sync over wifi (which still only works when you are plugged in)
just be patient... and there shouldbe a flashing "synching" symbol at the top of your phone screen

  • We have 2 iPhones and two iPads, we what to sync one phone and one iPad to an iTunes account and the other iPad and iPhone to a different iTunes account, but it keeps trying to sync the first accounts music, apps etc. We are using the one (only) computer.

My wife and I have an iPhone 3GS and and new iPad 2 each and we also have separate iTunes accounts.
We have only one computer and whilst I have no problem syncing the computer and my iPhone and iPad, I now need  to sync my wife's phone and iPad but for some reason even when we sign into her iTunes account iTunes wants to sync my content to her devices.
Please could someone confirm how we can avoid this and ensure our content is kept separate and distinct
    Thanks in anticipation

  • HT5621 We have 2 I phones and One Pad. We try to update applications and his phone never accepts the password for his Apple ID. We backup to same computer. He does what Apple recommends to change his password but it never works . Help

We have 2 I phones and 1 I-pad we try to update on the same Windows 7 computer. The Apple ID continually prevents one I phone user to update applications. How do we share one
    Computer?

Did he have find my iPhone enabled under that iCloud account?  If so, add the account back to his phone.  Then in the iCloud account settings, disable find my iPhone first (you will be prompted for your password), then remove the account.
Now you can create or add a new iCloud account to it using his own AppleID.
Alternatively, you could log in to your www.icloud.com account in a web browser.  Using the find my iPhone app there, remove his iPhone from your list of associated devices (he will have to power his iPhone off for you to do that).
After his iPhone is set up for his own iCloud account, on your iPhone, go to
settings->iCoud->Storage & Backup->Manage Storage and delete his iPhone's backup file to make more room on your own iCloud storage account.

  • Two phones with different contacts and one computer?

how do i go about syncing two phones, with different contacts, to one computer?

If you are using Microsoft Outlook and syncing different contacts is your concern, you can set up a new Contacts folder for your iPhone (like "Jeff's Contacts") and set iTunes to sync that folder only to your iPhone. Create a second new Contacts folder for the other iPhone's contacts and do the same thing. Works great for my iPhone and my wife's iPhone, both synced to our home computer.
