2 identical systemkeychains and keychain error in console.log

I hope someone can help me out here. Posted this already under a solved item, by mistake.
I do see 2 identical systemkeychains in Keychain . But in/library/keychains there's only one file. The systemkeychains content is 1: the password for my wireless modem, 2: a Dashboard Certificate.
The same situation in the 2 other (user) accounts on my Mac.
Also I noticed for some time now (every time I log in) this message in the systemlog:(:SecKeychainFindGenericPasswordError= -25308 (secErrStr= User interaction is not allowed.) (Current is : name of my wireless modem. Lately this message shows up now also in the console log.
Thanks in advance...

while using Spotlight searching; keychains Ifound something else: Spotlight marks under the folder /Users/my admin.usersname/library 2 items, but at opening the folder it shows only 1 item: login.keychain.
Under Keychains/library it shows 1 item and if opening the folder I find one system.keychain file ??

  • Bonjour printing error in console.log and cups error_log

    Hi everyone,
I have a client who has been successfully printing to an HP LaserJet 4000 over his home LAN for some time now. However, this evening he was no longer able to print, with the print queue stopping immediately when he would try.
iMac (Intel) Core Duo, Mac OS X 10.4.8, connected through a D-Link DI-524 wired/wireless router. There is a D-Link DP300U print server connected to one of the LAN ports on the router, to facilitate printing to a printer that has not been connected to the LAN recently.
After using Printer Setup Utility to reset everything, repair permissions, etc., the system still would not print. No updates have been installed since the last week of January 2007, and printing has been fine since then.
The only clue I was originally able to come across was found in console.log:
    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
No log handling enabled - turning on stderr logging
    snmpInk: Unknown host (SMB-Maui\0321.local.)
    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Then, I looked under /var/log, under the cups disclosure triangle, at error_log:
    E [14/Feb/2007:20:50:44 -0800] [Job 2] Unable to locate printer 'SMB-Maui\0321.local.' - Unknown host
    E [14/Feb/2007:20:50:44 -0800] PID 282 stopped with status 1!
    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
There is only the one Mac on the LAN, which is not named "SMB-Maui"-anything. I was able to get printing to function via AppleTalk once it was enabled, but the client has been printing successfully via Bonjour for some time and so there seemed no reason why this should simply "happen". No new software has been installed, as he's really quite good about leaving the system alone to do its thing.
Disk Utility repaired multiple print-related permissions errors before I began using Printer Setup Repair.
I'm looking for troubleshooting steps to take beyond this point. While the client is satisfied that he can now print via AppleTalk, I am not and would very much like to resolve the lower-level problem. Please advise?
    Thanks much for your time,
    MBJ

    Hi Phil,
Thanks much! I think you might be on the right track, as I got some unexpected results from Bonjour Browser.
First of all, there's no Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) entry at all—in fact, several others I have present on my own, local system are not to be found on the remote iMac. What the iMac does show is the following:
    local - 3
    Apple Remote Desktop (net-assistant.udp.) - 1
    iMac
    (IP address):3283
    [(IPv6 MAC address)]:3283
    Remote Frame Buffer (rfb.tcp.) - 1
    iMac
    (IP address):5900
    [(IPv6 MAC address)]:5900
    Workgroup Manager (workstation.tcp.) - 1
    iMac [MAC address]
    [(IPv6 MAC address)]:9
    (IP address):9
I have reapplied the 10.4.8 Combo Update, with no effect to the problem itself, nor to what is showing in Bonjour Browser.
One other possible clue: A visitor on the home LAN did attempt to print from Virtual PC 7 on a portable they had brought with them. They were unable to do so from Windows XP, but could print properly from Mac OS X. There is no known, causal relation to the problem at hand here - I mention it to be thorough, no more or less.
I'll standby for your further thoughts!
    Thanks much for the assist,
    MBJ
    Hi Mike,
Bonjour is a service discovery system. It doesn't
    print. For
that you use ipp or lpr, etc. The reason why
    Appletalk works
is that it has its own discovery system. It's older
    and
apparently more reliable. Bonjour uses muticast ip
    but
unless muticast requests are forwarded can't get
    outside
    a local subnet.
Once on your net was a machine - probably a samba
    server -
named "maul". Must have been, it's in a mib
    somewhere. Oh
wait - maybe it's cached in the dlink from its old
    days on
    the dark side!
Judging from the direction of the slash it was a
    Windows
    machine (I don't think that's an octal 321). CUPS
    thinks
that's where the printer is. Normally cups discovers
    the
printers via bonjour, and bonjour must be coming
    back
    with the wrong info!
But bonjour isn't that smart, something must be
    tricking it.
There's a wonderful free utility called "Bonjour
    Browser"
which will show you which services are being
    announced.
    Give it a try:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/2162
    2
Let me know what it shows under ipp.

    Hey there,
I was trying to hook up my ftp with fcs and in my admin window where I am entering the device info the password always disappears after saving the changes. Then when i try to enter the device via the device window it gives me an error: Password not retrieved from keychain: get from keychain error: The specified item could not be found in the keychain.(-25300)
Can anyone help me out with that?
    cheers

Network devices must be added via the System Preferences pane. The Java admin panel will always error out like that when you attept to create a device that requires authentication credentials.

    03/04/2012 16:25:24.016 Mail: Using V2 Layout

I have the exact same problem (snow leopard)
I think I found a solution to this problem after wasting a lot of time.
    Console log filled with:
    8/8/12 10:26:20 PM
    Mail[6622]
Exchange Sync: Unable to sync item id:AAMkAGJhYWU1OTMzLWY2NzItNGMzNC04MjMzLTM2NDc2NTA0ZTdlMgBGAAAAAADRKjgAIbQgSabQ 2dynxAUWBwAxWf8rzk5ORIlU+OsZl3USAAAAUJLUAAAxWf8rzk5ORIlU+OsZl3USAAAAbYb+AAA= (item with incomplete headers)
Looks like some item with above id is unable to sync. The problem is how do I find the offennding item from the given id
Here's what I did to solve it:
    1. open terminal and type following commands
    2. cd ~/Library/Mail
    3. grep -R * -e "id" (where id is the very big id in the console log AAMkAG.....)
Remember to use "-R" switch -- it does a recurrsive search of your mailbox finding the file with that string
    For me the grep showed:
    EWS-<myid>@mail.***.net/Sent Items.ewsmbox/Messages/7647.emlx:          <string>AAMkAGJhYWU1OTMzLWY2NzItNGMzNC04MjMzLTM2NDc2NTA0ZTdlMgBGAAAAAADRKj gAIbQgSabQ2dynxAUWBwAxWf8rzk5ORIlU+OsZl3USAAAAUJLUAAAxWf8rzk5ORIlU+OsZl3USAAAAbY cAAAA=</string>
    Binary file Envelope Index matches
So thats the offending file. Then see the item:
    4. vim EWS-<myid>@mail.***.net/Sent Items.ewsmbox/Messages/7647.emlx
Now you know the offending item.
Go to OWA or outlook and delete that mail.
But still Binary file Envelope Index file is there in ~/Library/Mail
So deleted Mail folder (after quitting mail)
Then reopened mail and its starts building my mailboxes again
Note that this only does away with "Unable to Exchange sync" messages. But I still get some other assertion failures from mail
I haven't see that message in my console so far.

Unsurprisingly, Apple confirmed that this was a HP error and that they would contact HP.
I tried to pass-on the info to HP, but I received the response, "Console.log is not an HP application. You will have to contact the vendor of Console.log and inform them of the error."

  • Hard crashes AND app crashes (with Console logs)

This topic is several months, if not a couple of years, in the making.
I bought two white MBs in July of 07 from the refurbished section of the Apple Store. My wife's needed a trip to the Apple Care depot not long ago, and I'm starting to think mine might, too.
Apps routinely crash on startup. They can usually be relaunched successfully the second time (though sometimes, three or four times is the charm). At the suggestion of a Mac Genius, I began keeping Console running and capturing error logs whenever this happened. I reproduce several of them below.
In addition, I am starting to experience an increasing number of total failures - the multi-lingual screen of death - and while this has happened while working in a variety of apps, one constant is that I'm almost always streaming audio or video. In fact, launching a flash movie has often (though not always) been the immediate event prior to the black curtain falling.
Before I proceed with a repair, I'd like to know if the always helpful Discussions regulars could give me some input. Does this look like a Logic Board or SIMM failure (I did add extra memory purchased from OWC) that could be diagnosed and fixed with the standard $275 Apple mail-in repair job? Thanks.

  • Errors in console log

Should I worry about these errors found in the console log?

The "volumes" was a camera card I had inserted and I was able to view the information on it fine...

The only problem I've been having is the battery not charging, but haven't determined if it's the adapter or battery or computer...or all the above (lol, if possible). The computer also used to go to "sleep" a few times randomly while in use...but it hasn't done it again yet...so far...? But I have no idea if any of these errors have to do with that.

  • Errors in Console Log file

We are seeing hundreds of these errors in our console log file:
    mediaserver automount[4510]: Can't mount servername.domain.ooo.oo:/username on /private/Network/Servers/servername.domain.ooo.oo/username: Invalid argument (22)
Historically, users have had their home areas mount normally in the dock (as specified in our MCX settings for the group they are in), but of late we have been seeing only some of them getting mounted; and more than this the server is suffering random kernel panics throughout the week.
    Any idea?
    Paul

    Hi Paul
That would be the one. Stuff also gets logged in /var/log/system.log.
After a kernel panic you could go into single user command line and just see what got logged perhaps?
    tail -30 /var/log/system.log
Shows the last 30 entries. I think this is better than doing the whole log because it would take ages to scroll through it all. You could expand this to the last 50-60 entries. You never know it might log something? For example you may see a shutdown cause error followed by a number -93 or -122. You could review the energy saver settings just to make sure nothing is enabled that should be. Possibly the UPS may want looking at?
    Hope this helps, Tony

  • Screen Sharing suddenly fails with "Communication Error" in console log. File sharing works fine. Thoughts?

I have been using Lion provided Screen Sharing for months without incident.  Suddenly (I do not believe there was an intervening o/s update), it will not connect.  I get a "Connection Error" dialog after a minute or two.  The console log shows the same thing w/o any useful info.  I can share files with the target mac fine and run time machine without error.  Any ideas on what's up?
    Thanks

Check the host property configured in KM URL generator service.
    Navigate to
System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Services -> (switch to advanced mode) ->URL generator Service -> Host
You should use the fully qualified host name and port.

  • Repeating Error in Console Log

    Hello All,
I Have a 733 G4 with 1 gig of ram, 60 gb harddrive, running Os 10.3.9 that for some reason is running very slow.
I checked the Console Log and found the following two errors repeated somewhere between 50 and 100 times with different time stamps:
    Jan 30 15:57:50 Cindy-McNeills-Computer /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Frameworks/ATS.framewo rk/Support/ATSServer: ATSServer got a fatal exception!! Please check /var/tmp/ATSServer_184.

Does this mean anything to anybody?
    Thanks in advance,
    David

    David --
You might want to do some font investigation on that computer.
    See this thread in OSXHints
    http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-36580.html
You can run FontFinagler (from here)

    Hope this helps.

  • MDNSResponder error in console log.

    Hi,
In looking at the console log using appSwitcher I saw the following error many times in a row.
What does it mean?  Is this something to be wary of regarding battery life?
    mDNSResponder[47]
    mDNSPlatformSendUDP: Invalid interface
    index 00000006
Thanks and I look forward to your reply.
    ...Bruce

I'm going to add a me to this morning, and it took a significant toll on my battery life. The battery dropped 39% over a few hours before I noticed the out of control process. I have reset my phone (top and home until I saw the Apple logo) and that seems to have stopped the process.

  • Org.clamav.freshclam and permissions error on freshclam.log

This is an adjunct to a branched discussion in this thread regarding org.clamav.freshclam continually generating error reports in the system log.
After enabling, but not starting, Mail service on my server (XServe Dual-G5, 10.5.8 Server) my system log began filling with the error as per the referenced thread. The first entry when the error cropped up was:
    Nov 5 15:23:20 xserve1 com.apple.launchd[1] (org.clamav.freshclam): Unknown key for integer: Iterations
Nov 5 15:23:20 xserve1 org.clamav.freshclam[40472]: ERROR: Incorrect argument format for option --checks (-c)
    Nov 5 15:23:20 xserve1 org.clamav.freshclam[40472]: ERROR: Can't parse command line options
    Nov 5 15:23:20 xserve1 com.apple.launchd[1] (org.clamav.freshclam[40472]): Exited with exit code: 1
    Nov 5 15:23:20 xserve1 com.apple.launchd[1] (org.clamav.freshclam): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
Per the instructions in the referenced thread, I ran
    launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.clamav.freshclam.plist
I then used pico to edit the org.clamav.freshclamplist file, removing the space between the '-c' and value in the line:
    <string>-c 4</string>
I also edited the /etc/freshclam.conf file to change the value:
    #DatabaseMirror db.XY.clamav.net
    to
    DatabaseMirror db.us.clamav.net
    I then ran
    freshclam -v
    followed by
    launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.clamav.freshclam.plist
Checking the log again, not only had the original error continued whilst I was editing, but also on the relaunch of freshclam a new error cropped up:
    Nov 7 08:35:39 xserve1 com.apple.launchd[127] (org.clamav.freshclam): Unknown key for integer: Iterations
    Nov 7 08:35:39 xserve1 com.apple.launchd[127] (org.clamav.freshclam): Ignored this key: UserName

    Nov 7 08:35:48 xserve1 com.apple.launchd[1] (org.clamav.freshclam): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
    Nov 7 08:35:49 xserve1 org.clamav.freshclam[476]: ERROR: Problem with internal logger (UpdateLogFile = /var/log/freshclam.log).
    Nov 7 08:35:49 xserve1 org.clamav.freshclam[476]: ERROR: Can't open /var/log/freshclam.log in append mode (check permissions!).
    Nov 7 08:35:49 xserve1 com.apple.launchd[127] (org.clamav.freshclam[476]): Exited with exit code: 62
    Nov 7 08:35:49 xserve1 com.apple.launchd[127] (org.clamav.freshclam): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
(Note: after the first 'Exited with exit code: 1' entry, it only repeated the last four lines as above as it respawned.)
Checking the ownership / permissions on the freshclam.log file showed that the owner/goup was _clamav:admin and the permisions were -rw-r----- which is proper and in line with the other clamav files in the directory. Thinking that perhaps the logfile was corrupted, I deleted it and made a new one, setting the owner, group and permissions as per the original. The log errors continued.
    Finally, in desparation, I ran
    chmod 660 /var/log/freshclam.log
setting the permissions to -rw-rw---- and the errors ceased!
Now, this is not proper file permissions nor does it explain why freshclam suddenly could not append the logfile, but freshclam is now happily churning away without generating continuous log error entries. For the moment, I am not going to argue with successful results!
    -Doug

    Hi Fred,
interesting.. but I'm of the mind "If it ain't broke.." and it has been running without problem since applying the fix. I may end up having to migrate Mail services to a different server soon though, so I'll keep it in mind if the error crops up again. Thanks for the tip!

  • Software Update fails and shows errors in console (No Leopard 10.5.3)

I have a MacMini with Leopard installed with boxed DVD last november (upgrade from Tiger).
Every update (apps and system went fine since them).
I haven't got the java update 6 since my processor is a Core Duo and not a Core 2 Duo.
Since it's availability from Apple Servers, the Leopard 10.5.3 is not appearing.
Neither the direct downoad of Combo of Delta update are not OK to install on my system.
When i select any system volume (internal and an external usb "up-to-date") i have a warning message:
"You cannot install Mac OS X Update Combined on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
    Anyone can help?

I'm also receiving SU console error messages - irrespective of whether SU is run from the menu, automatically on its weekly schedule, or logged into the computer using a different user.
    Any ideas?

  • Cannot publish to Facebook and Keychain Error

I want to publish photos from iPhoto 09 to Facebook but I've got some sort of endless loop error. See the screens at the link or read my description.
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/stanomatic/4113756464/in/set-72157622701757225/
I press the Facebook icon in the lower right and I get the drop down dialog which asks "Do you want to set up iPhoto to publish to Facebook?" I click the Setup button. Then I get the iPhoto Uploader button and I put in my Email and Password. Then I get this "iPhoto wants to use the "loginrenamed2" keychain." Please enter password. So I enter the same password. I didn't make this keychain. I never use keychain and don't understand how it works or anything else about it. Then it takes me back to the original screen, "Do you want to set up iPhoto to publish to Facebook?" So the loop starts all over again.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Keychain is what stores your passwords. Try use Keychain Access to repair them. It's in your Applications / Utilities folder.
