2 install programs on disk

my cd has two installations marked to install
adobe photoshop CS6 (64bit) 563 mb     and
adobe photoshop CS6           486mb
Do I install both?
I am running a computer that can run in 64 bit
thank you

you probably want the 64bit ps cs6 installed.  it's faster.
if you have any peripherals or plugins that only work with 32bit apps, you'll also want the 32 bit ps installed.  otherwise, you don't need the 32 bit ps.

dvd/cd drive works but won't allow me to install new programs from disk, doesn't recognize the disk, what can I do?

Well I was able to obtain a work around download of Flash and it installed fine but Firefox tells me it needs updating so I go out, thinking I'm "IN" finally to update it and I get that issue of not being able to get the update for it.  It's a regular laptop, not a touch screen or one of those new fangled ones for todays world.  In fact it's a refurb so it's probably origin date was a year or so ago before all this MS stuff took off fully.  So not understanding why I'm feeling like I'm being BLOCKED from getting the updated Flash I need and desire.  If I click on the little "X" and tell it to ignore the warning the vid will play just fine but don't want to have to do that every time.  Must be a better way.
Again, I'm sorry for posting in the wrong forum, getting this posted in the Flash forum was my desire but the way Adobe has this set up I just couldn't figure it out.  I belong to ALLOT of forums and most are pretty straight forward but this one is confusing!

  • Installing Programs Without The Disk Drive Icon Loading On Desktop

    Hey,
I am super anal and don't like any icons on my desktop and I am wondering how, when installing programs, you can install them without the disk drive icon being left on the desktop?
    Thanks.

Oh, right, sorry, one thing I didn't mention. I DO like to have CDs and DVDs and such show up on the desktop when I (seldomly) have them in my computer.
So, is there any other way? If I uncheck the CDs and DVDs line then this solves the disk drive icon but also gets rid of my CD icons.

  • Install programs form the recovery disk to the upgraded windows

    hi
I have HP G60-230us and I've upgraded form windows vista to windows 7. I used to use the programs which came with the computer. but when i upgraded to windows 7 all the programs were deleted. I need these programs.
Can I install these programs from the recovery-disks to the new windows?

No, the recovery disks will only put your computer back to the condition it came from the factory which is Vista.  Did you actually do an upgrade or clean install.  If you truly did an upgrade you should have a folder on your C drive titled SWSetup.  This folder has all the originally installed programs.  If you did a clean install and lost all the programs and the SWSetup folder then you may have lost these programs.......unless they are available at the HP website.  Go to hp.com and click Support and Drivers and enter your part number or model and you will find most of the programs and drivers are available for download.

  • Want to purchase new mac mini but I do not know how I would install programs from dvd without internal optical drive

I am planning to purchase new mac mini that just came out today but I do not know how I will be able to install programs or save stuff to disk when there is now internal optical drive.  I know I could purchase an external drive but is that necesary. Thanks.

If you have access to another Mac with an DVD drive you should be able to share it using Apple's drive sharing feature in the OS or at the very least if you have a firewire cable boot into firewire disk mode...

  • I have just installed a new hard drive in my imac intel 20" (2006) and now the hard drive does not show up in the 'select destinations' folder of the install program.

I have just installed a new hard drive in my imac intel 20" (2006) and upgraded the memory and now the hard drive does not show up in the 'select destinations' folder of the install program. I can see the hard drive in the disk utilities window however it wont let me do anything.
It is a seagate 1TB SATA II drive however it is displaying it as a 7.3 TB.
If anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to hear them.
I have tried to erase and partition and get the same error message each time, 'Input/Output error'.
I have tried starting the thing with the install disk which is Mac OS X (Tiger?) which came with the computer. No good.
    Anyone?

Thats correct. I can see it in the list however when I attempt to erase it or partition it it's like it's not being found or recognised and it throws up the input/output error message. I am pretty sure that the sensor it attached correctly and it is a SATA drive. I can see all the infor regarding the drive when disk utility is open and it all looks good but I cant access it or do anything with it. It's taunting me!
The install disk is in the drive and the install program runs right up to the point where you have to select the location for the install and there is just nothing in the box where you have to select the hard drive icon.
I have my suspiscions about the drive but any help would be appreciated.

  • How does installing programs work when user folder moved to separate drive?

    Hi everyone
I have my user folder on a separate drive from my boot drive.
I have set up a new installation of OS X on a third drive and pointed the main account's user folder on that third drive to the user folder drive.
This means that the dock that shows up when I boot off that third drive contains aliases linking to programs on the ordinary boot drive.
If I install programs on the third drive and make aliases in the dock, will that cause a conflict when I boot off the ordinary boot drive?
And if I remove from the dock aliases linking to the ordinary boot drive, will they then disappear when booted off the ordinary boot drive?
    Thanks for any insight.
    /p

    I tried that.
    1) I created a standard user account called "Test."
    2) While logged in as Test I edited the sidebar. Then I logged out and back in again to confirm that the settings were retained. They were.
    3) While logged in as Test I copied the user folder from SystemDisk/Users/Test to DataDisk/Users/Test.
    4) I logged out of Test and logged in as Admin.
    5) I changed the home directory for the Test account to /Volumes/DataDisk/Users/Test.
    6) I deleted the directory at SystemDisk/Users/Test.
    7) I logged out of Admin and logged in as Test.
    8) I edited the sidebar. Then I logged out and back in again to see if the settings were retained. They were not.
    9) I repeated steps 3-7, this time moving the home directory back to its original location at SystemDisk/Users/Test.
    10) Again I edited the sidebar, logged out and logged back in again. This time the settings were retained, just as they had been before I moved the directory in the first place.
Since the functionality returns when I move the home directory back to the system disk, I've concluded that it is not due to any corruption of library files or such. It seems to be a problem with the location of home directory.
V.K., in your configuration, is the account with the moved home directory an Admin account or a Standard account? I have not tested this with an admin account and I suppose that might make a difference.

  • W530, trying to install on new disk

    The saga continues.
    Bought a W530 with Win 7 pro, and a 1TB M550 SSD.
Surprisingly, the W530 came with 4 recovery disks (my W520 didnt)
I put in the new SSD, and proceded to install from the disks.  It took a good 2 hours.  I was dreaming that it would just install the os an divers, not the uninstallable crap ware it shiped with, nor the usless recovery partition space waster.
When it had finished I got a shock - it installed windows 8 - the (in my oppinion) most unsable (desktop) OS MS has produced so far.  I would have settled for Win 7 with Lenovo bloatware.
    Back to the drawing board.
So Now I am going to have to reinstll the orignial disk, and run the app in the control panel which creates recovery disks, and try installing with them. I pray this yields Windows 7.  Anyone know this?
If this fails, anyone know what the recovery partition is for, and if there is any way to use it to install on a new disk?
My last option then is to install Windows on its own downloaded form here: then spend hours finding and installing the drivers.
I guess another option would be to purchase some SW to clone the internal HD, but this has 3 partitions, recovery, main and hibernate.  The new HD is larger, so i dont know how to
get rid of the usless recovery partition
make the main the whole size of the new HD
    keep the hibernate partition.
Has anyone done anything like this (i.e buy a lenovo with win 7 and move to a bigger disk), and say how they did it?
    Solved!

eos wrote: 7 and move to a bigger disk), and say how they did it?
Most convenient approach is to buy an external USB 3.0 drive, which you'll eventually use as a backup medium.  But for the current objective of transferring your pre-installed Lenovo Win7 system from the delivered hard drive spinner to your new 1TB SSD drive, it can be used as the intermediate copy for a "system image" out-and-back approach.
You don't need a recovery partition, because that will only get you back to "factory" if/when you should ever use it.  You don't want that anyway really, because if disaster strikes a year from now you want an image of your then-current installed and customized system to recover from, not today's Lenovo factory delivered version.  Another reason to want that external USB 3.0 drive... to run regular scheduled periodic backups ("system image" and "data", in a well-defined recipe to provide the type of potential disaster recovery you require with minimal inconvenience and waste of time).
What you call the "hibernate partition" is actually the Boot Manager partition, marked as "active" and thus where the BIOS goes to start the boot process.  The second larger partition is where Win7 itself lives, and where the Boot Manager will launch.  If you had multiple bootable OS's, each would have its own system partition, and you'd have a Boot Manager menu to select your booted OS from.
So when you copy from spinner to SSD, in my opinion you want to end up with just those two partitions, dropping the recovery partition.
Use "free" Macrium Reflect to do the "system image" copy from spinner (just the two partitions) out to external USB 3.0.  Create a standalone bootable CD for Macrium Reflect (using the program's wizard).  Swap the spinner for the SSD.  Boot from the standalone bootable Macrium Reflect CD you created, and restore the just taken "system image" to the SSD.  You should now be able to boot from the SSD, and it should look just like it did on the spinner... which means NOT YET OPTIMIZED FOR SSD.
You'll also have some extra space on the SSD (which I assume is larger than the probably 500GB spinner that came with your W530).  You can use "free" Partition Wizard to partition your new 1TB SSD any way you want.  Depending on how you organize things, a Win7 system partition would normally not need more than 80-100GB tops.  You can create an additional one or more "data" partition(s) in the additional unused space on the SSD.
I know nothing about an M550 SSD, but my Samsung 840 Pro came with Samsung Magician software which gets installed and which then "makes changes to Win7 for optimizing SSD performance".  It also makes use of "over provisioning" on the SSD, which depends on about 10% of the drive being NOT ALLOCATED TO PARTITONS, but which remains unallocated and gets used by the Samsung software for performance optimization.  Samsung Magician also provides what it calls "rapid mode" if you have sufficient RAM in the machine (e.g. 8GB or more), which makes use of RAM for additional SSD performance optimization.
Also, the Win7 "defrag service" should be disabled and if there's a scheduled weekly defrag it should be deleted, to guarantee that it never runs once you have an SSD.
This "system image:" out-and-back method essentially gets you to an SSD version of Lenovo's pre-installed Win7.  You can then uninstall whatever bloatware you want to uninstall, complete Windows Updates, perform Lenovo System Updates for newer drivers, etc., but at least you don't have reinstall Win7 from scratch which is a time saver.

  • Installing Programs

Hi, as you will soon find out, I'm a new Mac user. I have a question about installing programs/applications;What do I do with the left over/newely created icons on my desktop? The .dmg's,the hard disk looking icons...I'm sorry but like I said, I'm a newbie. Perhaps there's a tutorial page somewhere online that I haven't found yet. Let me know.
    Thanks.

"What do I do with the left over/newely created icons on my desktop?"
    Hi Yendor...
You can simply send those items to the trash. The white hard drive icons are what's contained within the .dmg's, so you'll have to drag those to the trash before the .dmg files.

  • Installed Programs - which programs to uninstall?

    Hi,
I am not tech savvy.  I am here on advice from below link (Windows Community Forum) to post my Question here at MSDN forum.  So, I am also not sure about the category and Forum I have chosen :-).  Pl. guide me to the right Forum, if this is
    wrong.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/installed-programs-confirm-uninstalable-programs/53aa2dec-9d2b-4cab-92d8-00657ce21cc8
    I'll repeat my query here:
I find a lot of (about 16) Microsoft programs installed in my HP Windows 7 laptop.  I need advice whether I need to keep all of them or if I could 'Uninstall' any of them.  If they do not in any way affect my PC performance, or internet usage,
I don't mind keeping them. Here are the list of programs:
    A. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (4 Nos.)
    B. Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable (6 Nos.)
    C. Microsoft Visual Studio tools for Applications 2.0 (2 Nos.)
    D. Microsoft_VC90_CRX_x86
    E. Visual Studio 2008 x64 Redistributables
    F. Visual Studio 2012 x64 Redistributables
    G. Visual Studio 2012 x86 Redistributables
Pl. advice if any of the above may be beneficially Uninstalled.  Thanks in advance.

As far as I know the redistributable packages are required to run applications created by Visual Studio.
I don't know how many companies in the world use Microsoft Visual Studio to create the applications they sell or some even provide free of charge but I would guess it's alot. I suspect Microsoft probably uses Visual Studio for that though.
Perhaps all of those were not originally installed on your computer. And I'm not app installing guru but I do use Visual Studio to program with in the Visual Basic language. If I decide to create an installer so I can give somebody a program to install on
their computer there are certain prerequisites the installer can detect to see if they exist on the computer the application will be installed on. One would be a version of .Net Framework compatable for whichever version of .Net Framework my application was
created under. I suppose others would be the particular redistributable that my program would need to run on the PC it is to be installed on.
If prerequisites are not found and the computer has an internet connection the installer can download and install, with the permission of whoever is installing my app on their computer, any prerequisites such as .Net Framework or one of those redistributables
so that my application can then be installed on the PC and will run (athough the PC may need to be rebooted prior to running the application).
So maybe alot of those are on your computer because programs you have placed on your computer installed those, which they can also do from their installation disk if the redistributables ISO is on the applications install disk.
If you delete any of those it's entirely possible various programs will no longer be able to run on your system.
FYI read this link to get an idea about those.
The Visual C++ Redistributable Packages install runtime components that are required to run C++ applications built with Visual Studio 2012.

  • Cannot install program because newer version already exists?

    Hello,
I'm trying to install fontographer but it says it cannot install on this disk because a newer version of the program is already installed.
I find this quite strange because I've completely removed every single file of the other version, but still it says it's installed.
Anyone knows how I can solve thi problem?
Many thanks to anyone who is willing to help me.
    Greetz,
    Finn.

Use the developers method to completely uninstall the newer version of the program.
Sometimes a program will leave it's preference files because you might be uninstalling and reinstalling the same version to fix a software issue. The older version see's the newer version preference files and gives the errors.
Use the free Easy Find and find the programs file(s) and/or just remove them from your ~/Library/Preferences folder by Finder > Go to Folder > /Library/Preferences
There may be files in other locations as well. Perhaps it's best to ask the developer where all the files are for completel removal.

  • Install PE10 on Disk 1 only

I purchased PE10 on disk.  The box contains 3 disks.  At the main menu I indicated I only wanted to install PE10.
I inserted Disk 1 in my DVD drive.  After running for a time a screen appeared prompting installation of Disk 2.  At this point my PC froze.
I removed Disk 1.  I Uninstalled the program per Adobe instructions and rebooted my PC. I inserted Disk 1 again.
This time at the completion a screen appeared indicating PE10 had been successfully installed.  Is PE10 installed using only Disk 1?
If yes, what do Disks 2 and 3 contain?  If no, what do I need to do to get a proper installation of PE10 only?

Yes you only need disk 1.
Disk 2 is for the trial of Premier Elements and disk 3 is for the Mac OSX installation.

  • Running programs as disk images??

So, I'm a recent Mac convert; I've always had PCs before in the past, so I'm still learning about them. I love my new Macbook Pro! But anyway, I have installed Firefox and Adium (an IM program) on my computer, but every time I open them, a little "disk icon" that says either Firefox or Adium appears under the Macintosh HD on the desktop. Is there a way to open those installed programs without the disk icons appearing? Did I install the programs incorrectly or something?
    Any help would be appreciated!

    jwfrank85,
Firefox and Adium, like many Mac applications, are downloaded in disk images. A disk image is a single file that is an "image" of a mountable disk or volume (a hard disk, a CD/DVD, etc., or some portion thereof). Put another way, it is a "virtual disk."
Once downloaded or copied to your computer, the disk that is represented by the disk image file can be mounted by double-clicking the file. The disk will then show up on your Desktop like any other real disk.
The idea with applications that come this way is that you would then copy the application from the mounted disk image to your Applications folder. Once this has been done, you can eject the disk image, then move the disk image file to the trash.
What you have done is to drag these items not to your Applications folder, but to your Dock. Since the applications that are referenced by the Dock icons are still living within the disk image, OS X automatically mounts the disk image whenever you launch the application.
Mount the disk image(s) yourself, then drag the applications from the disk image to your Applications folder. Drag the original icons out of your Dock, then replace those icons with new ones from the applications that are now in your Applications folder. Finally, eject the mounted disk image(s), locate the disk image files, and drag them to the trash and empty it.
