Can leopard be installed twice on a single computer with a single user license? In particular I mean setting up two partitions on a single hard drive and installing leopard on each partition.
In this set up only one instance would ever be in use at one time... and I can't see why apple would have an issue with this. I just wanted to see if ppl think that's a legitimate scenario.
Maybe someone would want one instance with all the development tools and another instance that is a minimal install.
I can provide more details if needed.

I'm no lawyer but I believe that's quite all right to do this. there are many tools like CCCloner and Superduper which allow making bootable backups and that is surely allowed. what you want to do is very similar.

Adobe Reader 9 installation freezes computer

upon running the installation for adobe reader 9, setup gets to 99.90 percent, then a new window comes up, similar to the installation window. Estimated time remaining gets to 9 seconds, then the installation freezes, and so does everything else. A cold reboot is required...
I'm currently using foxit reader to read PDFs (Also, programs that print to PDF files cause a similar freeze.
Computer details:
Vista 32 bit Home premium.
3gb ram
300+gb hard disk space more than 50gb free
Dell inspiron 530 desktop
Spyware doctor - Avira antivir - and Threatfire installed
Interestingly enough, this is being typed in an open firefox window as the installer is frozen, along with the desktop and taskbar.
Additional details:
Reader (at that time version 8)
Along with PDFcreator both worked perfectly on my system
After reinstalling windows to clear my system *and changing antivirus to Avira - note no security issues are flagged by avira when installer runs*
Pdf creator went buggy. Pdfs printed by PDF creator would freeze when Reader tried opening them. (Although after restarting the system those same pdfs could be opened)
An attempt to repair the Adobe reader installation for version 8 failed, Then Opening Reader alone would freeze my computer. And I had to crudely uninstall Reader as a result. *May have left files - but I've scoured the Temp folders for them*
Anyway, installing adobe reader 9 then led to the error. (Interestingly, adobe reader 9 did appear installed after a cold reboot, and worked, however it dissapeared after the next normall restart.
&I've tried installing using a new acc, same error.
&FOxit reader works
&Adobe version 8 does not appear on my system.
&All normal computer functions seem to work..(Although a video on Gamespot recently displayed buggy stuff, not related i think)
&Installations of other programs work
&i've tried installing in a different directory
&Spyware doc, Threatfire, and Avira scans come up clean.
Just restarted *cold reboot*
The system took a long time to shut down *held the power button for longer*
And the hard disk didnt stop spinning for a very long time...
It also took a very long time to start the computer
Also, running an installer makes me undo the changes made by the adobe reader 9 installation, since it was suspeneded.

Use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup to remove vestiges of any version of
Reader in your Registry. Then turn off all antivirus and spyware
programs. Then try to re-install

Failed installation after computer stolen

I am trying to install CS5 on a new computer (Windows 7) that I purchased after my old one (on which CS5 was installed) was stolen. I find the "Order", download it, all appears to go ok, but it never finishes the installation. The "support advisor" software says nothing is wrong. I've tried probably a dozen times to reach Adobe (chat, phone, etc.) on this issue, but noone has been able to resolve, and now it appears their online phone support has been cancelled.
Can someone point me to what the issue might be, or let me know whether there is a number for phone support? Thanks much for any insights.

the issue could be an incomplete download of the isntallation file(s).
it could be that you have some security software interfering with installation.
it could be that you need to install as an administrator.
it could be that you need to use compatibility mode to install.
and there are probably other possibilities.

10.8.4 installation made computer unusable, please offer help.

Hello guys,
could you please help me on what to do as Im lost here ;(
I was installing 10.8.4 and went to use the toilet. When I got back to the installation I noticed that I had my computer off. So I wasnt sure if the installation was completed or not.
Now the computer keeps restarting.
Ive resetted SMC and PRAM but it didnt help and the computer still keeps restarting.
Is my only option to reinstall the system from recovery disk? I have my time machine back up in another country so that is not an option.
If i do reinstall the system, will it keep the settings?
I do have another disc here with time machine backup but its about 3 months old. Is there a way just to take the system out of it whilst keeping everything untouched and my stuff will remain there? (applications etc)
Or any other suggestions, please? Thank you

Boot into the Recovery disk and run disk utility to repair the disk and permissions. See if that will get you over the boot hump.

Installation restarts computer at 70%

have a fresh install of windows xp sp3. finished up with all updates and hardware drivers. went to install adobe products, java, virus, etc., and the only thing i have issues with is adobe reader installation. hangs or restarts the computer at 70% everytime. appreciate any advice.

that error had to do with extracting of the files. once i downloaded the msi versions, things were fine. luckily it gave me that error so i could figure out i just needed the msi one. adobe updated itself and i'm up to date on that computer, but still confused why that one comp had just that one issue with adobe and nothing else. thanks for your help

KB954430 keeps installing itself after sucessful installation and computer restarts.

The patch of Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB954430) 5.4MB keeps repeatedly installing itself. Every time the installation is indicated successful. However, it will come back and install itself again after
the computer restarts. If I check for updates, it will also come back even before the computer restarts. Anyway, it never stops and never finishes.

ok i have managed to get my iphone up and going...but the wifi will not work...and it won't be long until the phone resets itself again so does anyone know any ways that i can prevent this from happening?

Dreamweaver installation - new computer

I purchased Dreamweaver 1 year ago for my business computer. That system was old and slow, so we have upgraded it with a brand new, slick system. How do I go about getting DW back available on my new computer?

Yeah that is a problem for some but not for others. Could be you have 4 primary partitions on the drive already and the Recovery HD partition needs to be primary and there can't be more then 4 of them on any drive.

Itunes Installation on computer

Im trying to download itunes and i got an error message saying Service "apple mobile device" failed to start, Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services? And it wont let me install itunes at this point!
Any suggestions ??

What you will want to do, If you havn't already, Enable the iPod to Manually Manage Music,
With manually manage music enabled, inside of iTunes just look at the iPod in the source list of iTunes and Double click the song that you want to play.

Updated to 10.4.6 and computer has frozen during installation. Help

was prompted to install update of 10.4.6 but during the installation the computer has frozen. The little bar that shows progress of installation is almost at the end but computer is frozen. the mouse cursor moves but nothing else responds. no previous problems at all until this moment.

i have spoken to the apple shop where we bought the computer, they suggested restarting to see if it has hopefully installed properly. Any suggestion on whether this is ok to do or what else to try? any suggestions gratefully appreciated.

I can't install itunes to windows 7 64 bit because of computing space requirements

I tried to install iTunes 10.7 on my computer but it stops when the installation says :computing space requirements. Then it just says "rolling back action", "the installation was unsuccessful". I don't know what's going on because I have more than 40 GB of free space on my hard disk drive. I also tried with an older version of iTunes but it keeps doing the same thing.

Having the installer quit at that particular moment is consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

HP Printer Software Installation will not complete

I have an HP Officejet 8500 wireless bought in late 2011. Never an issue until a recent new printer added to the computer seems to have changed an unknown setting and now printer or computer will not recognize or initiate a wireless print request. Have tried all firmware updates, software updates, etc. Printer is perfectly connected to wireless network established by router. Any wireless print request from my MacBook is met with a "printer offline" description and sits in printer que. Printer works(ed) fine when connected via USB to MacBook.
Thought to uninstall/reinstall printer software hoping to reachieve initial set up defaults which have been working well prior to addition of new printer to computer.
Uninstalled HP software; result was normal. Inserted original software CD and tried to re-install software; result was as expected until step 5. Comments now read Installing HP Scan, Install was successful. Software has stalled on "5 items remaining" and will not move on to "4 items remaining" as next step.
HP Uninstaller is not yet in HP application file, Attempting to "quit" HP Installer generates a warning window indicating "files could be damaged" which is same window generated when trying to shut down computer using Apple shutdown command. Shutdown ends up being cancelled by HP Installer.
Computer is stuck and I'm stuck and I still don't know if reinstall would have solved original problem. Hours into troubleshooting... any help available would be appreciated. MacBook running OS X 10.6.8 all updates complete. Thanks

Thanks Bob - yes - setup from printer display to wireless network was done originally when printer was new and again today in attempt to reestablish whatever setting might have been accidentally changed. Printer is "perfectly" connected to wireless network with Excellent signal quality, etc... As is Macbook perfectly connected to wireless network.
Problem now is that when trying to reinstall original HP printer software to computer the installation process has frozen. I now cannot end the installation process or shut down the computer without potential fear of "damaging files". I also am concerned that if I power off manually (hard shutdown) that I will not be able to uninstall those HP files that have been installed thus far before the process stalled.

I am trying to understand if and how I can install Photoshop CC onto my second computer without going through the download process all over again. I have it installed on computer one, and the second computer is at a location with poor internet service, so installing there via download is painful. Is there a package file or soomething with the Photoshop CC installer on computer one?

Mac OS 10.8 Installation Problems

After installation the computer will not boot up and constantly cycles. Did a safe start and lost my Safari application. I have an NVIDIA quadro 4800 Graphics Card installed and I was able to download the latest update in 10.7.4, but 10.8 doesn't allow me to install the update that, bTW, says works with 10.8. Now my Mac Pro doesn't see the graphics card and I can't use FCP or Resolve. Here's the problem log:

That's not an officially supported graphics adapter, so your only recourse is to the vendor. It would probably need an updated driver to work.
