2 iPads in close proximity?

I am visiting my dad. He has a 3G iPad and I have a wifi only iPad. My iPad is working fine - my dads seems to have stopped connecting to servers, no connection, and is behaving strangely. They are both 1 week old iPads and so are updated with latest software. I am baffled. My dads iPad worked fine before I got here.....
I have turned off the 3G with no change.

Pure coincdence.  On your Dad's iPad...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Try Reset Network Settings

  • My ITunes won't sync my ipad and closes down in the middle. I have Windows 7 Ultimate. How do I fix this problem?

My itunes won't sync my ipad and closes down in the middle of the attempted syn. I have windows 7 ultimate. Any ideas about what to do?

If the steps above do not resolve the issue, attempt to sync with iTunes while logged in as a new admin user. Follow these steps to create a new administrator user within Windows:
From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
    Open User Accounts.
Select Create a new account and follow the instructions to complete the account setup process.
Once the new account is created, choose Log Off from the Start menu.
Log in to the newly created user account.
If the error does occur in the new user account, the issue may be caused by content downloaded or created on the device, such as podcasts and voice memos. Removing content from the device may address the issue.
If the error does occur in the new user account, the issue may be caused by content downloaded or created on the device, such as podcasts and voice memos. Removing content from the device may address the issue.
If these steps do not work at all, I would suggest calling AppleCare at 1-800-275-2273 (assuming your iPad is stilll within support or has an AppleCare Protection Plan) and let them know you have already tried all troubleshooting steps per TS2830.

  • Why does my iPad continuously closes from where I'm working and takes me to home screen?

Why does my iPad continuously close from where I'm working and takes me to home screen?

It might be out of memory. Close all apps you're not using using the toolbar that comes up when you double click on the home button. Press and hold any icon and then tap on the red minus (-) symbol of the apps you're not using.

  • WiFi doesn't work in close proximity....

I have a Time Capsule and when I have my MacBook in the same room as the TC, wifi cuts in and out. When out of the room and in any other part of the house, all works well. Why is this the case and how do I get it to work in close proximity? Thanks in advance.

We had that experience and found it to be caused by our cordless phone system. After upgrading to a new DECT 6.0 Panasonic cordless phone system the problem was corrected. There are several other older wireless systems that could interfere with your wi-fi system as well.

  • My iPad 1 closes games unexpectedly what can i do help with this

My iPad 1 closes games unexpectedly what can I do to help with this I've tried powering down several times

You may need to update the firmware of your printer from the Brother site.

  • Why is it that every time I am doing something weather it's looking in the app store or using safari I iPad will close down and take me to my home screen? It gets very frustrating when you in the middle of something. I have checked for updates, none avai

None available. Any possible solution of what could be causing this issue. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Your iPad is as updated as it can be at 5.1.1. Your apps are crashing probably due to a lack of memory. Try keeping apps in the recents tray to a minimum. For starters close all apps completely, clear Safari and then reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
See if this helps at all. If if does, remember to keep apps in the recents tray to a minimum. You shouldn't have to do that, but unfortunately, iOS 5.1.1 stretched the capability of the original iPad processor to its limits .... IMO!

  • Is there a way to search through pdf looking for a few words "in close proximity" to each other?

I started this question in an Adobe Reader forum, but am reposting here.
Within one pdf, I'm trying to find the locations where two words appear close to each other. The document is a manual of Structured Framemaker from Adobe. The words are "context" and "element" (I'm trying to find out what "context" means in EDD in Framemaker).
Using Advanced Search on Acrobat XI Professional, but the response is the same in Acrobat XI Reader, i.e. zero results.
Putting a comma between words doesn't change results.
Selecting either of these doesn't change results:
    --Match Any of the words
    --Match Exact word or phrase
Clicking on the Show More Options adds a Proximity box but I've been unable to make the box selectable (it's greyed out).
Although I'm only interested in the results of the one pdf, I was advised to select a whole folder. When I select a directory, additional options appear, but the Proximity button is still unselectable.
What turns ON the Proximity button?
Is there a way to change Acrobat default so that the More Options is always turned on?
    Thanks in advance.

Proximity will become available if you're using a index (Tools > Document Processing > Full Text Index with Catalog), which you can create with Acrobat Pro for just this single document if you place it in a folder by itself. You will also have to select "match all words" or whatever the exact wording is in the advanced seach panel.

  • IPAD app closes, random

When using my iPAD 3 and working on an app, the screen will clear and go back to the main screen and the app will close.  This is happening often and it's  not normal. Has anyone seen this?

Your apps are crashing, so try this and see if it helps.
Quit all apps completely and reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • IPad Mail closes immediately after opening

After 3 weeks of using the iPad Mail, today Mail will open for about 3 seconds and then close. I've restarted the iPad, synced, checked for updates.
    Any suggestions?

So it does seem to be related to mail provider (Ntlworld seems to be a consistent offender) however I think it's a bit unfair to suggest it's the mail provider at fault. The email app should not crash irrespective of what is occurring with the mail provider. This problem has all the hallmarks of having been introduced as a direct consequence of 3.2.2 and needs to be sorted by apple. Apple then need to provide an advisor to mail providers if there are particular issues which cause conflicts with the iPad.
As a side note, my Ntlworld account has been migrated in the background to gmail (a commercial deal between virgin media and google earlier this year). If anyone else with virgin media has not been migrated to the gmail platform it would be interesting to know as would so of the other legacy virgin media email accounts such as virgin.net. It may simply be a consequennce of differing routes and a dresses being reported by the pop3 accounts, in which case apple will have a little more info to work up a fix.
MeanWhile I have disabled the email account in settings and accessing Gia the web portal which us actually very nice on the iPad)

  • Mail App on iPad 2 closes as soon as it opens

on my iPad2, when the mail app opens, it closes right away before any e-mails are shown. I have restored and re-booted but that did not work. Any suggestions as to what to try next? Is there a way to re-install just the Mail app? I upgrades to IOS 8.3 when it became available and all was well until last night

    See this thread:
    Mail won't open.
You can try my suggestions or if all else fails, restore your iPad to factory settings. I've definitely seen this problem pop up more & more over the past month.
DId you  try removing the email account from the iPad, rebooting, then adding it back?

  • First generation ipad windows close

  • HT4623 My iPad 1 closes out of apps frequently even when restarted and with a high wi-fi connection and some don't even load up at all. All they do is open to the loading screen then close out. What should I do?

My iPad hasent been working correctly. I got it free from my teacher and she told me that it had done the same thing to her. I'm wondering what to do about it.

Close all of the apps in the recents tray at the bottom of the screen. Reboot the iPad and see how that goes.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app icons. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Ipad apps close spontaneously

I have an original iPad WiFi + 3G purchased in December 2010.  I am running iOS 4.2.1.  Very often apps that I am using close spontaneously and without warning.  Most, but not all, of the time, the affected apps are ones that may be accessing the Internet.  But some are games that I have downloaded from the App Store and play only "locally", not online.  I have tried stopping all running apps in the multitasking list, but this does not seem to affect the problem.  When the apps terminate, I am returned to the screen from which I launched the app.  If I reselect it, or if I choose it from the multitasking list, the app will sometimes go back to the spot where I was when it closed; but at other times, the app will just reopen at its starting screen.
I don't know how to determine whether this problems is with the hardware, the operating system, or the apps themselves (which seems questionable since it happens with several different apps).  Can anyone tell me how to proceed to fix this problem?
    O.B.

    Hello,
I have exactly the same thing - most apps open then close spontaneously. This happens across a variety of different apps and under different wifi connections. It affects me more than 50% of the time now and I can't use a whole bunch of apps because of this. Is this a QC issue with the appstore allowing in badly made apps or is there something inherent in the Ipad that makes it MUCH flakier than advertised.
I really have better things to do than to reinstall every app, seriously.

  • My iPad will close all windows/apps suddenly without warning!  Any ideas?

My iPad will "shut off" without warning...very annoying!  Any idea why?  Thanks!

Try closing all apps completely and then do a reset and see if that helps. To close all apps : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
To reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Turning off iCloud and multitasking gestures on the iPad has also been suggested by some people.

  • My iPad 1 closes my apps when I use them.

So basically, when I use my apps on my iPad 1 64gig, they just randomly shut down. This happens to every app. Safari, Skype, Angry birds, Garageband... Every app.
Help Apple, please fix this! This started happening after iOS5 update.

These are user-to-user forums, they are not monitored by Apple (there are too many forums/threads/messages for that to happen).
Have you tried closing the app completely ? From the home screen (i.e. not with iTunes 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the iTunes app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
