2 iPads...one for my wife and the other for me...pay for Apps twice?

I have an iPad which I sync to my iTunes on my MacBook. I ordered an iPad for my wife which will be arriving on April 30th. I've downloaded hundreds of dollars worth of apps from the App Store onto my iPad. When I set up my wife's iPad, I will be syncing it to her iMac and not to my MacBook. Will I be able to sync the apps that I purchased onto her iPad? Or is this prohibited?

Because Apple has chosen to allow this with the same iTunes account. DRM protection included with 3rd party apps is tied to the iTunes account used to purchase/download the app, not with the device used to access the app.
There are people who own an iPhone and/or an iPod Touch and now own an iPad or may eventually purchase one. There are also some people who purchased the original iPhone and then purchased an iPhone 3G or 3GS. I purchased an original iPhone on the release date and then purchased an iPhone 3G 14 months later. I plan on purchasing the next generation iPhone when released which will likely be after using my 3G for two years.
Apple earns very little profit from the iTunes store. The 3rd party app developers earn the bulk of the revenue and profit with paid apps, and there are a number of free 3rd party apps. The record labels or those who own the distribution rights for the music available via the iTunes store earn the bulk of the revenue and profit with the sale of music, not Apple. The overwhelming majority of Apple's profit is gained from the sale of hardware - computers, iPods, iPhones, and now with the iPad.

  • Two 3G Phones ... One is Getting WiFi and The Other Isn't ... What Gives?

I am trying to connect a 3G phone to WiFi. When I try with one iPhone 3G, I enter in the password, it connects and then provides service and the connection works properly. I then try doing the same thing with another 3G phone and it appears to connect to that network and then indicates "No Service." Any ideas

    Are there any charges?
    No.
What if I'm not on wifi? Is it still free?
    Yes.

    Hi there slogrown,
You may need to download these purchases directly to the device. Take a looke at article below for more information.

  • I have just purchased a macbook pro. I downloaded two sd cards, one via lightroom 4 and the other via iPhoto. I can't find the latter card when I try to import via LR4. In fact i can't find it at all unless i open iPhoto. where is it?

Good Evening, I have just purchased a Macbook Pro, and have downloaded two SD cards of a trip to USA and Canada last September.  One via Lightrooom 4 and the other via iPhoto. I tried to import the SD card via iPhoto into Lightroom 4 but could not find it. I tried to find this "folder"? via other means with no success. however when I open iPhoto, there it is, so it must be on the Hard Drive somwhere??? I am new to Apple having decided to jump ship from Windows. Would be grateful for any help.

iPhoto is a - like Lightroom - Photo Manager. It's a database. Like any db to get data out you have to export it.
    File -> Export
and in this case set the Kind to Original.
iPhoto is a $15 app, LR is somewhat more expensive. As they both want to manage the photos there's no good usage scenario where you use both. Pick one horse and ride, essentially.

has details of the options in the Export dialogue.

  • I have a MacBook Pro 15" and my warranty just ran out! I partitioned my harddrive into two partitions, one with Snow Leopard and the other with microsoft. This morning I turned on my Macbook Pro and it will not boot into Snow Leopard.

    Good Morning,
I have a MacBook Pro 15" and my warranty just ran out! I partitioned my harddrive into two partitions, one with Snow Leopard and the other with microsoft. This morning I turned on my Macbook Pro and it will not boot into Snow Leopard. I shut it off took out the battery, reinstalled the battery. Then I put in the Snow Leopard CD and booted up to disk utility and The Snow Leopard partion would not show up?? I do see the microsoft partion.
I also rebooted holding down the shift key and still no Snow Leopard
Could you please tell me what I can do, what keys do I press on restart any advice to get Snow leopard back.
    thank you.

Have you restarted holding down the Opt key?  That procedure should give you a gray screen with all of the partitions that exist.  Then select the SL partition for boot.  Also go to System Preferences and Startup Disk, unlock the lock and select the SL partition as the default boot partition, then relock.

From the names I'd guess they are temporary files. If excel is running, quit and try again. If they still won't move or delete reboot. If they still won't move or delete...kill a chicken at midnight under an oak tree?

  • We have the enterprise system on our office computer and I have one iphone and 2 ipads. One iphone and one ipad2 is mine and the other is my wife's.  We share a common password for the ipads. How do I update to ios5?

I think this is rather complicated and I really need some help. I am the pastor of the church and we have the enterprise system.  We use an exchange server if that means anything. I began with an iPhone 4 that connects with our system. And now I have to iPads. One of the iPads is registered in my name and the other in my wife's.
I'm confused as to how to update to IOS 5. Do I keep my password is the same for both my wife's and my iPad?
Also because we are on the enterprise system, my notes from Outlook do not wirelessly connect from my work computer to my iPhone and to my iPad. I have been told that they have not worked this out yet. Will this change with the new operating system?
It all is very confusing to me and I would appreciate some help. Thank you very much

  • I have two airport extremes, one acting as amodem and the other operating in bridge mode.  The extremes are connected using ethernet, but remain connected even when I disconnect the Cat5a cable. How do I know if they are operating wired or wirelessly

I have two airport extremes, one acting as a modem and the other operating in bridge mode.  The extremes are connected using ethernet, but remain connected even when I disconnect the Cat5a cable (I did this to check that the 100 feet of Cat 5a cable connecting them was working). How do I find out if they are operating wired or wirelessly?  I want to know as I assume I will get much better speeds if they are wired.

Hi Bob, many thanks for the prompt response.  I think I did what you suggested, but you're the expert so I have sent over a few screenshots.  The extreme in question is High Birches Home Office (the rest of the network has been in place and working well for some time).  My new home office is going to be in the garden, circa 100 feet from the main house.  I have installed armoured Cat5e cable down to the shed that is going to be adjacent to the home office once built and situated the High Birches Home Office Airport Extreme there temporarily.  Everything works well, so I was surprised when I unplugged the ethernet, that it still worked.  I also tested the ethernet cable by switching off my laptop's wifi and unplugging the cable from the airport extreme and directly into the laptop and that worked ok.
If the screenshots below (I did every Airport utility tab for the High Birches Home Office) don't tell you anything more, then the set-by-step instructions would greatly appreciated so I can ensure I completed the steps correctly.
    Many
    Thanks, Greg.

  • I see two iphoto applications. One is iphoto (copy) and the other iphoto (original). How did this happen?

In the applications folder I see two iphoto apps. One labeled iphoto (copy) 376 MB/ version 8.l.2 and the other iphoto (original) 346 MB/ version 8.1.1 . Have no idea what I did. Can I delete one of them?
I have iphoto library manager installed and used it for the first time just recently. I merged my photos into one library.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Lucy

Keep the latest verson.  But, as Larry cautioned, open it before deleting the other one to make sure it performs as expected.

  • How do I configure my PCI-GPIB cards so that one is a controller and the other is a device being controlled by the first card

I have 2 PC's, both fitted with PCI-GPIB cards. One will be the system controller and the other will be a device on the GPIB bus. How do I configure both cards using LabWindows/CVI v7.0 to achieve this ? What commands are used to send and receive the data ?

    Hi Pete,
For the controller board you don't really need to do anything. By default the GPIB interface is configured as controller.
The non-controller can be configured in MAX. Right-click on the interface, uncheck the ono-controller box and change the primary address. It is usually a good idea to set these parameters programatically. Use ibpad to set the primary address and ibrsc to release system control.
For the controller you can use a device descriptor (using ibdev) or a board descriptor (ibfind).
You can only open a reference to the non-controller board using ibfind (ibfind("gpib0"), for example). This will open a board reference. You cannot use a device reference because that implies that the board is capable of addressing the bus. On
    ly the system controller can.
Here are some links I found on the web on this subject:

Tutorial: Programmatic File Transfers over the GPIB
Example: Using a C Program as a GPIB Non-Controller with LabVIEW as the GPIB Controller
