2 iphone 4 on 1 apple id account

The support person from itunes informed me that I could use the same apple id for both iphones so me and my granddaughter can share our music I had already purchased for our ipods. When my granddaughter activated her phone and installed the Verizon backup assist app her contacts overwrote my contacts. I see my contacts are still in backup assist (in the trash) and her contacts are now on my phone and in my backup assist account. I want to restore my contacts without her losing her contacts. Is there anyway to do this.?
My granddaughter is not going to use the cloud for the calendar and so forth and now that she has her contacts on her new phone she would probably not use the cloud for her contacts. She just wants to receive the songs we already had on itunes.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This may not help more of a what I do or did. At our home we have my iphone and my own Apple iTunes account, my wife uses an Apple iPad also under my Apple id account. this way my 7,000 plus music collection are accessable to these and three computers. You can have five connections per account. Now in your case the iphone can be shared for itunes in fact you are doing that, however under http://www.icloud.com you can select contacts as well as calendar and imail and find my phone and certain files. Personally I would use the contacts option only for the iphone, at verizons back up assistant just use your own contacts for your phone. If you turn off the feature than you can use seperate verizon backup assistant per line for each of you. By linking itunes should not affect the apple contact sync.
Make sure the iclod sync for your daughters contacts are set to off. Then set up back up assistant at My Verizon for your two seperate phone numbers. this way no overlap.

  • TS3988 Help - How do I manage to remove an IOS device, in this case an IPhone 4S, from my Apple ID account? I want to use this account only for my IPAD

    Hi,
I have managed to initially set up our two IOS devices - my wifes IPhone 4S and my IPAD 2 - in a not so smart way.
I used the same Apple ID account for both devices.
As such it worked, however after a few days we decided to have two different Apple ID accounts, one for each device.
I made a new Apple ID account for my wifes Iphone, and kept the old account for my IPAD.
This is as well working now with both these accounts, however I have found out that my wifes IPhone is still registered under my account.
This I will like to have rectified and cleared, i.e. I want my wife's phone cleared from my Apple ID account, so that my Apple ID account only contain information related to my IPAD 2.
My wife's Apple ID account for her IPhone 4S works fine and we do not need to change anything for this account.
However, how can I clear/edit my own account, so that it only contain information about my IPAD?
For example, when I use the Apps "Find My Iphone" I can see that the system is trying to locate both my IPAD and my wife's IPhone 4S, when I have logged on with my Apple ID account no. This show that one way or the other both devices are registered under my Apple ID account.
I will appreciate some assistance to tell how to rectify this matter,
    Regards,
    Morten

  • How do I disassociate my iPhone 3 from my Apple ID account

I have just purchased an iPhone 5 and gave my son my iPhone 3. I need to disconnect them as they are overruning each others contacts and other items.
    Please advise :
How do I disassociate my iPhone 3 from my Apple ID accountand how do I update his new Apple ID.
If there is a way to have both devices under my account, but ensure they do not mix via iCloud.
    Thanks

I'm assuming each device uses its own icloud account and you want them both to use the same account, but not lose data from the device you will do the switch on.  If this is the case you need to copy the data from the "old" account to the other account ....
When connected to the account you want to GET data from, Go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.
When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.
After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to this new account.
Note that this only affects the "Apple data" like contacts, calendars, reminders, etc.  Many third party apps also use iCloud to store data files there.  These files may be lost in the process, unless the apps also keep the data locally on the device.
NOTE:  Photos in the photo stream (if you use it) will not transfer to the new account.  It is advised that you save the photos to a computer before performing the account switch.

  • How can I link my iPhone with a new MacBook if I have apps on the iPhone from 3 different Apple ID accounts?

Since I live in three diffirent countries and I have 3 Apple ID accounts on my iPhone 4S. Recently I bought a MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion installed.
I am not sure that when I connect my iPhone with a new MacBook all my data (apps, music, podcasts, etc.) will be transferred from the iPhone to MacBook iTunes.
So what should I do to transfer all my data to the new MacBook and to sync the data with iPhone as usual?

Follow the steps here, but when you come to the part about "authorizing" this computer, you will have to do so for each account/Apple Id:

  • Problems syncing back apps from my iPhone (coming from 2 Apple-ID accounts)

Hi. I was previously purchasing my iPhone apps with an OLD Apple-ID.
Some months ago I had to create a NEW Apple-ID (for reasons I'm not going into detail with).
    So far so good:
The apps I had purchased with my OLD and NEW Apple-IDs lived happily together on my iPhone and synced perfectly with my MacBook.
    …Until now:
I had to reformat my MacBook, and afterwards I tried to sync back the apps sitting on my iPhone. I've logged in and out of both accounts a few times and now, from what I can tell, I'm left with a few random apps from NEW and OLD accounts – and a very large chunk have just disappeared.
Logging out of the NEW account and logging in to the OLD account, then trying to sync my iPhone again, doesn't make any difference: I only have a FEW apps remaining – some of which are new and some are old, i.e. from both accounts (including both free and purchased apps).
I'm thus concerned to know if I've just lost a VERY large amount of purchased apps… and if I've shelved a smaller fortune's worth of cash in the toilet, so to speak.
(Note: prior to formating the MacBook, I stored a backup of the apps in the form of .ipa files on a secondary harddrive. Can I retrieve those files into my new account somehow?)

Not sure why your Mobile Applications folder didn't reside at the first level within the iTunes folder. This is where my Mobile Applications folder resides and I'm pretty sure that is the default location for the Mobile Applications folder. I'm not aware there is an option for changing the default location for the Mobile Applications folder.
One big issue remains: the settings & application's saved media didn't seem to stick from my backuped .ipa files when syncing back to the device again. (Or at least not with the one Brushes 1.ipa file in my test.) Are iOS program settings & saved media stored inside each .ipa file, or do you know where it's located otherwise?
3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app is not stored with the app on your computer. 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app is included with your iPhone's backup, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process. The iPhone's backup is stored completely separate from the iTunes Media location or folder.

  • Cannot disconnect iPhone from previous users Apple ID account.

I just got a used iPhone 4 through a friend. I reset the phone phone today and it is asking me to sign in with the Apple ID used to set up the iPhone. I do not know the Apple ID and am not in contact with the previous owner. Is there anyway to disconnect the iPhone from that account without being in contact with them?

No. The activation lock is an anti-theft measure.

  • What happens if I install IOS 8 on my iPhone and then my Apple developer account expires.

If I upgrade to IOS 8 beta and my developer account expires will I still get over the air updates or would my iPhone stop working?

You would have a number of problems although your Phone would still work, bugs and all, until the software was released in the fall and you couldn't switch over in the developers site.
Either renew your developer account or stay away from the beta.

Lots of info about one user using multiple computers. What about multiple users with separate Apple IDs using same computer? Having problems getting my wifes new iPhone talking to her apple account on the computer we share (2 users)

You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.

Sorry alvinguibz, but you have encountered an Activation Lock, and unless you can contact the previous owner and have them follow the steps below, you will not be able to use your device:

    Hi Jamesdwills,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
If you are using the same Apple ID on both devices, the Game Center profile should be the same.
Check out this information from the iPad User Guide.  Try signing out of the Game Center on both devices and then sign back in with the correct Apple ID:

  • I have two apple id accounts with separate music lists, how do I combine the music lists on my iphone?

I have two apple id accounts with 2 different email addresses and passcodes...how do I combine both lists of music on the two accounts into one list on my iphone, ipad and desktop?

Stop using one. Everything you've previously purchased from it has that Apple ID stored inside the file, which can't be changed.

I have a iPhone and iPad on one iTunes account, I have recently bought two further I touches fir the kids , should I set them up with their own apple ids and the can I transfer purchases through all devices,

    Hi jhyiesla,
Im not sure wether I got you right or not. But my advice/s would be as follows:
These steps help you get rid of old apps you downloaded years ago and you do not use anymore.(Also frees space on your mac after emptying the trash)
    1) go to iTunes and delete all applications in it. Make sure to move them to trash! Do not empty your trash yet. Its your backup if step 3 doesnt appear.
    2) connect both your devices(one after each other) and make a backup. !!!Dont press the Sync button, press the Back Up Now Button
    3) Then it asks you if you want to backup applications as well. Confirm. (This is how apps get transferred manually)
    4) Then Sync your devices... The first time it might be, that there are some additional apps loaded to your devices you dont want to.. delete them on your Device (not iTunes) and after that you should be good every time you sync again.
    5) now you can empty your trash on your mac.
    Further,
    - You should regularly connect your devices with iTunes to make sure they are backed up. (Even if you have activated iCloud backup, the iTunes backup is more proper i.e.. Apps)
    - If you hate scrolling through a list of apps in iTunes, you can re/install apps directly on iOS not via iTunes. I absolutely never go to the "Applications" section in iTunes. I install and delete apps directly on iOS.
