2 iphones, 1 computer

we have 2 iphones and 2 seperate itunes account respectively. when i imported a cd to itunes to add to one phone it wont let me add it? can 1 cd that was ripped to the computer be added to 2 phones? i know 1 app from the app store cannot be bought and shared which i completely understand but this is a cd that was purchased and then added to itunes?

i didnt know you could put apps on both phones though, i was told by an att rep that it would delete everything if i tried?
The AT&T rep is mistaken, or was talking about something else.
There is no device limit for the number of iPods and/or iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on the same computer, which includes all iTunes content purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store including 3rd party apps.
I have a no longer activated original iPhone which is used on occasion as an iPod Touch and an iPhone 3G. I have a single iTunes account and I have some of the same iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store available on both iPhones including 3rd party apps.

New computer and itunes won't let me access all of my iphone [computer has been authorized]

Hello, community! I hope that someone is able to assist me.
So, base of the issue: I recently got a new computer [I went from a Mac to a PC - loved my mac, but it was falling apart after a good eight years and a new one is way too expensive] and I downloaded itunes. I do still have my iphone, and I connected it to my new computer hoping to update some apps and transfer pictures and back it up and what not.
First thing I did was authorize the computer. On both accounts - I have on in Japan and one from the US (Iphone is from Japan, where I currently live). When I synced my phone, half of the apps are available to adjust (i.e remove or update). Really random ones, too. For example, there's no correlation between which account downloaded the app and I don't see any paid apps and some free apps. I've also switched between accounts to see if this affects the options - it doesn't change anything.
Also, I want to add/delete music, but I'm completely unable to change anything on my phone - adding or removing. I can view and play the music, but nothing else. Note: When I click the music tab with the phone summary (not the music option in the bar to the left) it asks if I want to sync my entire music library with the iphone.
Also note - itunes is updated.

Yes... that's the way it works.
You can only sync an iDevice with one computer.
Move or copy all the iTunes content from the old computer (or backup of the old computer) to the new computer.
Then sync the iDevice with the new computer. It will still wipe the device, but at this point it will not matter because all the content will be on the new computer to sync to the device.

Trying to update apps but keep getting message that my Apple ID can't be used to purchase from the iTunes store but it works on my iPhone & computer?

OS is 5.1.1 but it says no updates available. I've had the iPod for a few years but if I remember right it's 3rd Gen. Model #MC011C. I have no problems purchasing or updating apps on my iPhone, and I went to iTunes in my computer and purchased a song just to see if I could, and didn't have any problem. And I have tons of memory left on the iPod.

I went to the App Store app and selected "Updates" along the bottom menu. It said 11 updates were available. I then chose "Update All." Before any updates could begin, the message popped up that "This Apple ID cannot be used to make purchases from the iTunes Store." That popped up twice, then the same message with, "Please enter another Apple ID" added. I tried 3 separate times (getting all 3 pop-up messages each time). I then tried updating apps via the App store app on my iPhone 4 and it worked fine. Then I signed into the iTunes store on my computer and bought a song (thankfully one I like ) and that worked fine. I tried on my iPod one more time before finally coming here to post a question.
A few minutes after posting my question (and the reason I came back here, not knowing I'd received an answer) I thought I'd try one more time. This time, it worked with no problem and all the apps updated. So I don't know if somehow my purchasing something in iTunes on my computer helped, or creating this community ID did, or if it was just some temporary glitch. Whatever it was, it's working now. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Troubleshooting iphone + computer sync issues

my iphone 4s doesn't appear as a device in itunes when plugged into either of my pc's usb. my other apple devices do. i have followed all of the troubleshooting on the apple site. i have ensured that my usb ports are operating properly. the apple store confirmed that there are no hardware issues with my phone. i'm at the end of my rope. any advice?

Thanks, yes, I have done this but find that syncing is still lithargic and not all items are synced. In particular it is very important that my calander events are propagated and there is often a large lag time between the iphone and computer sync. I'm syncing using the Wi-Fi setup. Comments?

Updating to iOS 6 on iPhone - computer iTunes effected?

My wife and I hate updating iTunes because it loses the music pathways.
I just updated her iPhone to iOS 6 - when she plugs it into her computer, will it force her to upgrade the computer's iTunes?
Is there control over this?

Can't sync iPhone, computer no longer authorized

I have a new iMac (yeah me!). When I try to sync my phone to iTunes I get this message with regards to the Apps: This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPhone “iPhone”. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?
I have already authorized the computer through iTunes and I have only ever had one account; the only exception being that it went from .mac to .me (and yes, I have tried both to no avail). Every time I click to authorize it as instructed (under threat of deleting my apps), it tells me the computer is already authorized and yet, it won't sync and I get the error message again and again.

If you replaced your hard drive, the iPhone is going to think it's connected to a different computer. So in order to sync, it will need to erase the content from your iPhone and re-sync it. If you set up all of your iTunes info (and the other info you normally sync to the iPhone), all you will need to do is sync the information back to your iPhone from the computer.

Sync iPhone - Computer not authorized

I am attempting to get PocketMoney and GasCubby back over to my iPhone since having to restore. However, it keeps saying that I have to authorize the computer. It's been authorized. Multiple times. Though it never takes an available authorization slot form the 5 alloted. Good thing, too, because I've authorized it already.

IPhone - computer-to-computer network

I am trying to set up my office computer so that I can access the internet on my iPhone using the internet connection of my computer. I have gone through all the set-up procedures and I have made the connection, but I still cannot access the internet.
In the preference pane of my computer is states that the Wi-Fi is connected but has a self-selected IP address and it may not be able to connect to the internet. ... That is true.
I tried configuring the Wi-Fi connection on my computer with the same IP address etc as my computer, but that just knocked off my LAN connection.
What do I need to do on my iPhone or computer to get the internet connection?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Are you using a wifi router at home? Does your computer have the ability to transmit wifi?
If you are using a wifi router at home, and it is transmitting, you need to go the wifi on the iPhone and turn it on and see if it is "seeing" the network. If so, you can follow the prompt to join.
If you are using the home computer that is set up to transmit wifi for usage, then after you have finished configuring the computer, you should be able to broadcast the network, turn on wifi on the iPhone and join as mentioned earlier.
All of it depends on how you are getting wifi. If you are transmitting from a router, or another computer.

Home iPhone computer is broken. Now what?

I always sync everything through my laptop computer. Well, the hard drive died and the computer is inoperable.
I plugged my iPhone into my iMac to at least charge it, and I'm wondering if I can start using it to add more music and video. When I tried manually adding another playlist entitled "iPhone 2," it tells me that songs and playlists will be replaced. Does that mean that all the music that I was managing on my laptop (which I no longer have access to) will delete if I try to add stuff through my iMac?
This is so frustrating. Am I basically going to have to start over because my laptop is dead and that's the computer I chose for my iPhone to always sync with?

if you have music or video on the iphone that you have purchased from the itunes store, you can copy this back to the computer. To do this, open itunes and at the top click on store and choose authorize computer. Put in your account name and password in the alert that comes up and choose authorize. Once the computer is authorized, connect your iphone. Once itunes shows your iphone, click on file at the top of itunes and choose transfer purchases from...
This will copy any purchases that you have on the iphone back to the computer.
However, if the music was copied from cd or other locations, it will have to be reimported into itunes.

I bought a used iPhone for my daughter, and it will not sync to my computer. Message says computer is NOT authorized on the iTunes store, but it is. I think the issue has to do with the phone's serial number or something related to what it contained previously. May have been a bad purchasing decision. ANy suggestions?

All the topics are relevant but this one tends to be the most common culprit:
Authorize using the correct account name
The items you are trying to play might have been purchased using a different iTunes Store account. To determine which account was used to purchase an item, follow these steps:
Select a purchased song in your library and choose File > Get Info.
Click the Summary tab. Note the Account Name that appears in the list. This is the account name (Apple ID) you will need to use when authorizing your computer to play this purchase.
Note: The account name that appears is the one you used when purchasing the item and does not change if the account name (Apple ID) changes.
If you've authorized the Apple ID that is shown in the Summary tab, you can check the purchase history for that Apple ID from Store > View My Account. If your purchase history does not reflect the purchase of the items in your iTunes library, consider any other Apple ID you may have created, and authorize the computer for your additional Apple ID.
If you forgot the password to one of your accounts, you can recover it using Apple's password-recovery website.

If you buy apps... new iphone / computer....

So heres my deal, I recently returned my iPhone for a replacement because I had some troubles with my old phone. They gave me a new phone but in the process of waiting I reformatted my computer.
I bought a few apps on the Appstore before and I was wondering if the Appstore has a way of knowing whether or not I bought them. My iphone is blank without any apps, my itunes is blank without any apps. I have already bought some apps before that costed about $5. If I "re-buy" that app again, will I be charged an additional $5 or will I get it for free since I already purchased it before?

Well what you wanna do is in iTunes go to Store (from the top menu) and authorize your computer, sync your iPhone after you have authorized your computer. Then you should be able to re download the apps at no cost. Your Apple ID should remember that information. If you get charged you should be able to get your money back because your Apple ID will show that you have purchased it twice, which I am pretty sure it really hard to do this. Just make sure that you don't have more than 1 Apple ID, because you can run in to trouble there.

ICal - No sync between iPhone & Computer

Hi-
I'm on the road a lot and add new appointments, etc. to my iCal on my iPhone. But when I get home and sync it with my computer (MacBook Pro), the calendars on my computer don't sync with the more recent changes that are on my iPhone calendars. Any ideas on why this might be happening? Thanks.
Steps taken:
I've checked iTunes and have verified that I've selected the Sync iCal calendars has been checked/selected.

Try resetting the sync history on your Mac, which is done with iSync preferences with the iSync application located in your Applications folder.
After selecting Reset Sync History, restart your Mac and try syncing again.
