2 iphones, 1 itunes/laptop
I have an iphone & itunes account on our laptop, my wife just got an iphone. Can i "share" my itunes account or is there a way to set her up a seperate account, we only have one laptop with itunes installed? Thanks for any advice.

Hi, I am having trouble getting an album to download. I have tried it on both my iPhone and laptop through iTunes but neither works. I am wondering if it could be the size of the album stopping it downloading (212 Tracks) Any Ideas?
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
Mac OS X: ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.

My iphone and laptop were stolen!! How do I recover my itunes stuff?
Sorry to bother you guys. A few days ago, my apt was robbed and among the things that were stolen was my iPhone and my laptop!!!
I have renter's insurance thank god and they said they will replace or reimburse me the full cost of anything stolen, so I'm getting a new iPhone and laptop!
My question is, how will I get my apps back onto my new phone. I have 200+ apps (most are free but many were not) and I don't even remember all of them.
Is it a simply a matter of downloading itunes to my desktop, logging in with my user name and password, then connecting my new iPhone to it, with the sim card from att with my phone number on it, and it will work?
Is there any way at all to automatically redownload all the apps I had or do I have to remember them all from memory and redownload them manually one by one?
Are the apps and itunes localized to one specific hardware serial number or something, or will they automatically work on my desktop/new laptop and phone as long as I'm using the same username and password.
Thank you very much.Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications. It's your responsibility to make backup copies in case something goes wrong with your system, as I'm guessing happened in your case, and you lose all the information on your hard drive. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places. If your hard drive was erased and you don't have a backup of your purchased items, and don't have them on an iPod, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your tracks.
If you have your tracks on an iPod or have them backed up, post back and someone here can help you get them restored. Otherwise you can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it. -
Itunes/laptop wont recognise Iphone
My itunes/laptop wont recognise my Iphone 4s since Itunes update. It would let me charge and makes a funny noise when I try to connect. I've deleted Itunes and restarted again, rebooted my phone, reset it, and checked my firewall and still nothing..
That just happened to me too which caused my iphone to restore. Now its locked. My apple id isn't working to restore my phone.

You can import pics taken with the iphone to your computer withour itunes. Itunes has nothing to do with importing pics taken with the iphone.

Laptop fried and replaced before uploading album purchased by iPhone iTunes
I purchased some new music from the iPhone iTunes interface. Before I was able to synch this to my laptop the motherboard fried. HP was unable to obtain a replacement motherboard, so the whole laptop was replaced. I had a backup of the rest of my iTunes that I transferred on to the new system, but when I connected the iPhone it blasted all of the songs without first uploading the purchased content. Am I hosed? Why would this happen? Where was my "hey, you have purchased content to upload" message?

It sounds like you may have choose to erase the contents of the iPhone and sync with iTunes before transferring the purchases.
The iTunes Store support group may be able to re-grant the download.

I've just imported a CD to my laptop. On copying it to my iPhone, iTunes copied over some stuff I didn't want on my phone, messed up all my playlists. Any ideas anyone?
Hi there, thanks for your reply. iTunes has been working fine up until now! I've got the box - Manually Manage Music & Video ticked as I prefer to drag & drop what I want to put on my phone. Nothing has changed recently - same phone, same PC, same iTunes library, all software up to date! Can't understand why it would change the album artwork around!!

I want transfer photos from Iphone to laptop. The windows doensn't recognize de iphone im "computer" but the itunes does. How could I transfer the photos from IPhone?
It should appear as a camera/scanner device in My Computer, or you can associate a phot app on the computer with it. If it doesn't appear there is probably a corrupt image in the Camera Roll or the Camera Roll is empty. You cannot transfer photos from the Photo app (transfer is one way only, computer to iPhone), only from the Camera Roll.

Started out with iPod/iTunes on a home pc several years ago. Added iPhone, iPad, laptop and office pc. Have multiple iTunes/iMusic folders on all 3 computers -- using iCloud to access media on iPhone/iPad. What's the best way consolidate songs, movies, books, etc prior to phasing out home pc? Which machine (laptop or office pc) is best to use as the master host for iTunes/iMusic going forward? Don't want to lose anything or create numerous duplicates.
I finally resolved this... by changing everything over to a new laptop. I had been running iTunes on a Vista desktop, and moved Outlook and iTunes to a Win7 x64 laptop. Once I got everything installed, I copied the iTunes folder to the laptop, transferred the purchases, backed up the iPhone and iPad to the new iTunes, and then synched them. Set iTunes to sync Calendar, Contacts, Mail, and Notes on both, and resynched. Once this was done and I verified that everything was intact on both the iPhone and the iPad, I tried entering a calendar event on the phone and then did another sync. The event showed up in Outlook. I then deleted the event from Outlook and did another sync and the event was gone from the iPhone. Did the same with the iPad and got the same results. So this apparently was something related to the desktop or Vista; I never got it resolved on the desktop. Not sure what it could be, but now that it's resolved I'm going to leave it alone. Maybe after I upgrade to an iPhone 5, I might try messing with the iPhone 4s on the Vista desktop. If I do, and happen to get it resolved, I'll surely post something regarding that.

I have one apple id on my iPad and a second apple id on my iPhone and laptop. I want to use one apple id for everything. I tried wiping my iPad and synching it with my laptop. The old apple id still remains on my iPad. I can't get rid of it. Help.
On the iPad open Settings/iCloud and delete the account using the button at the bottom. Once deleted log in using the other account. For iTunes Stores use Settings/iTunes & Apps Stores, tapp on the Apple ID at the top then sign out. Once done sign in using the other account. Once you are happy with the changes plug your iPad into your computer to update the backup.

Best practice on managing two iPhones / iTunes accounts
I have always used two computers / iTunes accounts for my wife and I's two iPhones. Last week my iPhone and home computer hard drive both crashed (what are the chances. I am now pulling all data off my AppleTV and I am trying to decide how to set everything back up:
1. Put all content on wife's Toshiba laptop (Win7) and manage two instances
2. Buy a new Harddrive and reset up my desktop (which will only be used to manage digital media and occassional surf.
Any thoughts? How simple is it to manage two iphone/itunes accounts from one machine. Last posts I saw look like a bit of a pain, because I have to manage my music (the bigger amount of music) in playlists.

Yes, as long as your authorize the computer for each account that the music was purchased under, e.g- if the music was purchased under your account & you want the music in your wife's library, you would use her computer login, launch itunes, sign her out of itunes, sign in using your itunes account details, Store>Authorize this Computer, sign out, then sign her back in.

Yes, and I assume you want full administrative powers, so you should set up your account as an administrator.
Once you've set things up this way, transferring purchased content(Apps & music) is real easy. Simply launch itunes, sign out of whatever account you want to transfer the content to, sign in using the account that has the content on the phone, File>Transfer Purchases, sign out after doing so & then sign the other party back in.
You also want to make sure that you disable auto sync when an iphone is connected under preferences in the edit menu. Do this for each login. You DO NOT WANT TO SYNC to each others account, just File>Transfer Purchases. That way you can share apps & music, which is permitted under the EUSLA for family members in the same household. -
Are people still having trouble with iPhone/HP Laptops?
Since I've had my Envy I've had no end of trouble with getting it and the iPhone to play nice. Any my search continues. So far, I have updated every bios, reinstalled Windows 7/iTunes many times, have restored the iPhone far more times than I care to remember and I am STILL having troubles with this thing. Having got through the Syncing issues with the PM55 chipset and iPhone I can now sync with my laptop. However all is not well as it would seem that I cannot sync my photo's. It doesn't matter if I have 0gb, 15gb or 30gb free, iTunes is telling me that there is not enough memory available. This error seems like an old one and there is even some info in the Apple KB but after following all that I still can't get it to sync my photo's.
Some info on my setup:
HP Envy 15 (all the latest drivers installed, bios F.24) Core i7-820, 8gb ram etc.
iPhone 32gb, ver 3.1.3
iTunes (whatever the latest one is)
I should add that I can sync my iPhone with an identical install of intunes on my vintage Quad core desktop PC, but as I use my Laptop a lot more (and have all my media, email, and contacts etc on it) I would prefer to sync to it.
Is there anything that I can do? Its very frustrating to have blown $4k on this equipment and it doesn't work...Well I tried deleting the photocache but alas, no luck. I also tried syncing with just the photo's enabled, and it worked! So then I enabled my other media and that copied across too! I thought I was on a bit of a roll here, but now whenever I try and sync it will do one of 3 things:
iTunes will crash.
iTunes will indicate that there is not enough memory on the device (+9GB free)
iTunes will remove the iPhone from the sidebar (and my computer/disk management) even though it will continue to charge.
Interesting point to note is that it works fine (cable/iphone/itunes/media library) on my desktop and macbook. Still really disappointed that I cannot get these two to cooperate. Also still haven't got any contacts from outlook but that may not be related? -
Is the iPhone/iTunes not compatable with Windows Vista 64bit edition? Everytime I connect my Phone to my PC I get this message:
The software required for iPhone is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again.
I have tried to uninstall and re-install iTunes atleast 4 times.. Doesn't fix it.My Desktop PC, My Laptop and my Wife's Laptop all run Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit. So I don't have a 32bit computer.
Also on the box it doesn't say that 64 bit isn't supported. Also on the apple.com website I only found one place it says 64 bit wasn't supported and you have to dig for it..
Also when I bought my iPhones I bought them from a AT&T Store and at the store I bought at they got them from the back and immediately scanned it then put it in a bag and sealed the bag shut and told you you couldn't open it until your off their property.. So even if it was on the box which its not I couldn't have known until I got home from the store....
So I have 2 iPhones which I was able to get activated when I went to Washington State to visit my family I just hooked up to my Dad's computer and activated but at home in Virginia I can't sync contacts, emails, or upload my music, etc... -

additional info: my friend use my laptop/ ITUNES to update her ios, that since then whenever i connect my Iphone it shows me her name!I know it sounds weird, and that is the reason I posted my question. Because my case is not like all the ones I've found online and it's confusing. I added a screen capture of my itunes with my old iphone (the one that houses my playlists) connected to it.
My playlists "ARE" in my iphone 4s. They are still there even though they do not show up when I plug in to itunes in my computer.
When connecting my phone to itunes on my macbook, the playlists do not appear anywhere in itunes. I have found my connected iphone icon, I have clicked on the arrow next to it and it does pull up the standard lists that come with the iphone/itunes: Music, Movies, TV shows, books. That's it! below that is "Genius" and below "Geniuns" is "PLAYLISTS" but the only playlist of mine that shows there is one that I created several years back titled "90's music" and that one I created it on my computer, not my phone. Under "90's music" there are also other standard playlists that itunes automatically adds.
Does anyone else have this issue or know how to get around this. I am starting to think that I am going to have to recreate these lists on my computer -
