2 iPhones in my house, both on the same Apple ID. Just got iPad mini, want to use iMessage with my phone number, but iPad only picks up other more recently added number (not mine) when I go to message settings. Is there a way to default to other number?
Hi guys, so we have 2 iPhones in my house, both on the same Apple ID so that my mum and I can share everything. I have just got an iPad mini, and would like to use iMessage on it with my phone number, but the iPad only picks up other more recently added number (not mine, my mums) when I go to message settings. Is there a way to make the iPad default to other number?

We have a few iphones and one apple ID. We only want to use the one apple ID as they are children and I want to have control. How can we imessage between us and different phones without everyone getting the imessages on each device?
Settings>Messages>Send & Receive...you can adjust here. There is no other setting to adjust.
What you want to do is really not the best approach. Everyone can continue to use the same Apple ID for iTunes content, but for everything else...FaceTime, iMessage, & iCloud, everyone really needs their own Apple Id for things to function properly & as designed. -
I AM TRYING TO SYNC MY WIFES CALENDAR WITH MINE. WE BOTH HAVE SAME ICLOUD AND ARE ON SAME APPLE ID. I CAN SEE HER APPTS. BUT SHE CANNOT SEE MINE. PLEASE HELP.

My wife and I get our iPhone 4s tomorrow. Should we put them both on the same Apple ID, or should I create one for her. All our apple products are on mine at this time.
The answer to this kind of depends on what you both want to do. Apple IDs can be used for multiple Apple services. For example you could both have your own iCloud Apple IDs (which I would suggest), but have only one iTunes Store Apple ID.
So think about how you will each use the iPhones then make your decision. Keep in mind that if you both use the same iCloud Apple ID you will receive each other's texts and emails and all the email, contacts and calendars will be the same. -
My wife and I decided to both buy Iphones do I put them both under the same apple ID, or do I create two different apple ID's and two differnt icloud accounts? We want to be able to share my itunes library on both our phones and sync our calendars, but I don't want every update and reminder that my wife puts in her phone and I know she doesn't want every reminder I put in my phone.
What you need to do is both use the same Apple ID for iTunes content, but separate Apple ID's for everything else. So, you keep your existing Apple ID. If not a verifiable email address, you will need to create a new Apple ID for yourself. You also create an Apple ID for your wife, again a verifiable email address. You use the existing Apple ID for all iTunes content. The new Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc. Here's how to create an Apple ID:

Use multiple devices on one computer:

I cannot use the password to update apps on my second IPhone. It only works on one of the phones. They both have the same Apple ID and password.
If it really does not work, change your password here https://appleid.apple.com (Manage account) and try to add the account again. I hope it helps.

My wife and my iphones are both on the same apple id. If I create a new apple id for her, can we still share our music?
Yes. If you are using two different instances of iTunes on your computers, make sure the music is on both copies of iTunes.
The person with the new Apple ID will not "own" the music, as it is owned by the one with the former ID. But the way to deal with this is for the new ID person to do Store > Authorize This Computer from iTunes' menu, then have the person with the ID that purchased the music enter his/her Apple ID and password. -
I have a iPad and a iPhone. I am logged into the same Apple ID on both devices. Every time I download something on my phone it automatically downloads on the iPad how do I turn this off?
you need to turn automatic downloads off - its under settings>itunes & app store

how do I do to use the same appleid on all my devices, I want to use the last one I have on my Ipad mini, do I deleta the one I have on my Iphone and reeinstall it with the Id I use on my Ipad..?
Hi john,
Yes, you would sign out of iTunes & App Store: Settings>iTunes & App Store, click on the Apple ID, click on Sign Out. Then sign back on with the new Apple ID. Also, if you have an iCloud account with the other Apple ID, you would delete that iCloud account, and then sign on with your new ID: Settings>iCloud>Delete Account.
Cheers,

My husband and I both have iPhone 5. We currently share the same apple I'd. How do we get separate ones. Him keeping his and me getting a new one? What is the best way to go about doing this?

Yes, No problem at all.
Want to give one to wife.do I need to open a new iTunes account for her?
No - you can share the same iTunes account (my wife and I share the same account). But when you sync the iPads, just remember to select the correct content for her iPad and the correct content for your iPad. -
i bought my husband an ipod nano. we already have the classic. should i put both on the same apple id or get a new id for hubby?
You can use the same account on both - I use the same account on my devices. Generally it's best to have just the one account, as all purchases from the store are tied to the account that buys it - so any iTunes music that you have/will buy will be tied to that account.

I purchased songs from 2 different computers using itunes with the same apple id. I had 1 iPod I used for these but I just recently got an iPhone and I was wondering why it wasn't letting me put my purchased songs on my iPhone?
You can transfer iTunes content from an iTunes library on a single computer only.
Since these songs were purchased with the same iTunes account, you can download the song that is not in your iTunes library on the computer you will be syncing your iPhone with. Or you can download the song or songs direct on your iPhone.
