  • Two iphones, one apple account and icloud backup?

my wife and I both have iphones with only one apple account, I did the icloud back up on my phone and everything is fine, but when I did hers it shared all of our contacts, now I have two diiferent accounts set up for itunes, do I need to create another apple account for her phone and can we delete the contacts that were put on our phones without losing anything else? Thanks

If you are sharing an iCloud account do not start deleting contacts on either device.  Doing so will delete them from iCloud and the other device and they will be lost.  To prevent merged data like this you need to have different iCloud accounts on each device.  You can continue to use the same ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores; it does not need to be the same as your iCloud ID.  To fix this, first decide which phone will be getting the new iCloud account.  Then on that phone, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The other phone will not be effected by this.)  Next, set up a new iCloud account on this phone using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to this new account.  At this point you will have two different iCloud accounts, one for each phone, with identical data on them.
You will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the other person's data from your account (such as deleting your wife's contacts from your iCloud account, and vice versa).  These changes will be reflected on each phone.  When finished you will have individual iCloud accounts with just your own data on them.

  • Four iPhones one apple id

I'm sorry to ask a question that has already been covered but I have many different devices and so finding the solution seems really complicated.
We have 4 iphones,1 ipad ,2 ipad minis and 2 MacBooks.
We would like to share music purchases, apps and also be able to have all devices linked on find my iphone.
We do not want to receive each other's texts,iMessages,e-mails,calendars,reminders or photos.
At the moment we all share the same Apple ID and so we have chaos.
I have setup 1 Apple ID for each device, but because I am stupid,I am unable to work out exactly what I need to do to achieve the required result.
Can someone please give me an idiots guide to take me through exactly what I need to do ?
    Many thanks.
    Lee

One Apple ID per user not per device.
Keep separate IDs for iCloud, iMessage & FaceTime and you can share an ID for purchases.
As far as Find My iPhone, that will be linked to the iCloud Apple ID. Since every user has a different ID you will need to sign into Find My iPhone as a particular ID to see devices linked to it.
If you simply want to locate family members, I suggest the Find Friends app.

I have 2 machines. a mac mini that my wife uses and a macbook air that i use. We also have 2 phones that we each use. we share a apple id for itunes purchases. I have a moble me account she does not.
When icloud goes live, how with it know what to sync to who? will she need to create her own apple id? I don't want her to loose any of the apps/saved games that she has now. But i want our photostream or itunes, mail, etc to sync individualy but bill to the one apple id.
I want to get it sorted before icloud goes live friday, (She is getting s new 4s shipped home on that day as well.

For the most part what I want to know is can i have 2 computers with there own itunes, syncing to there own phones, icloud keeping each users stuff seporate but billing to one apple id. Or will she have to create her own apple id and lose the apps and game saves she has now.

  • Two iphones one apple id and master reset

Here is my issue. I just got an iphone 4s for my hubby and did a master reset on his phone. I lost all the data after that. I also use my own apple id on his cell. Will that affect syncing data, music etc. on either phone?I am trying to fugure out the best way to have the phone working properly. So, on that note, should I have one apple id or two?
    Thanks a bunch!

that's right, sync it with your library but also make sure that your sister does not do it again as it will keep changing.
You may wanna disable contacts sync with the iCloud on her device by taking her device and go on settings, iCloud & switch off contacts.

  • Our family has one apple account, but several devices linked to it.  How do I sync my device (Ipad) without getting all my 11 year old daughter's apps on it?

I need help syncing my Ipad.  Our family uses one apple account for multiple devices... how do I sync my ipad without getting all my daughters apps?  How do I know which of my apps need to be synced to the computer?

Simply select only the apps that you want to sync to your iPad and then sync. You can control what syncs to the iPad. You may be best served by turning off auto sync.
Launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says - Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically. Click OK.
Connect your iPad to the computer.
    Launch iTunes
Click on the iPad name on the left side under the Devices heading.
Click on the Apps Tab in the iTunes window on the right.
Click on only the apps that you want to sync in the list of apps under the Sync Apps heading.
Make sure that the Sync Apps heading is checked.
Click on Apply in the lower corner of iTunes.

Apps can only be updated by the Apple ID used to buy them. Apple does not transfer content from one ID to another.Apple does not merge IDs. Unless you want to buy the app with the new Apple ID, you need to recover the old ID.

  • Two iPhones, one Apple ID, contacts combined

We recently added my father-in-law to our group cell phone plan and got him a new iPhone 4s. A few weeks later his iPhone got locked up. He went to an AT&T store for help, they said he needed an Apple ID and password to unlock his phone. I gave father-in-law my Apple ID and password since that's what his phone was linked to... when we bought his phone we used my Apple ID for him. Father-in-law unlocked his phone successfully with my Apple ID.
    Here's my problem:
Our contacts and emails became combined after the "unlocking". I have all of his contacts and email accounts combined with mine and he has all of mine combined with his on his phone. I know I need to unlink his phone to my Apple ID and create a new ID of his own.
    Here's my question:
How do I separate these combined contacts? I don't want to unlink his phone and loose all of his contacts.
    This is an important factor:
My father-in-law is deaf, non-native English speaker and very old so I have no idea what exactly he did to unlock his phone. Not a clue.
BTW all iPhones mentioned are 4s with iOS7

that's right, sync it with your library but also make sure that your sister does not do it again as it will keep changing.
You may wanna disable contacts sync with the iCloud on her device by taking her device and go on settings, iCloud & switch off contacts.

  • I can not unlink an iphone from an Apple ID which was not linked to an icloud account. Help!

Okay so I bought a second hand iphone 4 for $20 so I could play music in my car (aftermarket USB hookup radio) so my 5s wasn't constantly sitting on the charger and frying the battery. So like any other normal person I reformatted the device to new so there was no information from the previous owner on it, but it was updated to 7.1.whatever-it-is-now and now it says it's linked to an Apple ID. I tried the www.icloud.com/find and it doesn't come up and I have no way to unlink the account from the phone. The previous owner gave me the Apple ID they used and it says "this Apple ID can not be used to unlock this iphone". Is there any way to unlink the iphone from the Apple ID without using icloud? Because I don't think the previous owner was using an icloud account before they got rid of the phone

Well I don't think it's a coincidence that both emails start with a K lol but one of them ends with "@aol" and the one the phone asks for is "@m•••" so maybe it's possible they used a different email or changed the email while they had it activated

  • 2 iPhones one apple id

I have had my iPhone since in came to Verizon. My question is my wife wants one now can I use my apple Id on hers so she can have all my music and apps. Is this possible.

Yes. There is no limit to the number of devices you can have tied to an Apple ID, but there is a limit to the machines that are authorized to play music tied to an Apple ID (computers). So yes, your wife can use your Apple ID. All of the iPods and the 2 iPhones in my home are using my Apple ID and share my content with no trouble.

  • Two iPhones- one apple ID

My daughters phone was contacted to my iPad . I now have a iPhone and both phones are contacted to the one account . She doesn't want my texts and vice versa ,but neither do we want to loose pictures and data . How do we get round it ?

Having separate AppleIDs won't affect your photos. What some families do if they want to share purchases from the iTunes/App Stores is to share an ID for the that and then each have their own Apple ID for iMessages/Facetime/iCloud.

  • Two iphone one apple id

Currently when my daughter receives an sms my son also receives it.
    Thanks,

Settings > Messages > Send and Received > Uncheck any number/email that does not belong to the device
Note: The little blue (>) will give you an option to remove the number/email from the device
Note: Check this setting on any device(s) using the same Apple ID

  • Two Computers, One Apple ID, Want Separate My Stations in Podcasts

My wife and I share an Apple ID.  We did this so when either of us buys an app it was obvious that we could put it on either of our devices.  We have separate computers and each maintain our our list of podcasts that we listen to.  I recently upgraded to iTunes 11.1 and now our two computers seem to share the same list of podcasts.  We can keep individual episodes separate on the two computers but we seem to need have the same list of podcasts with the same subscription status on the two computers.

Found the problem - need to uncheck "Sync podcast subscriptions and settings" in Store Preferences.  Now if only Apple would implement Hide Podcasts in Cloud in the list view.
