I bought two iPhones from someone today and I check the ESN and they were both clean and clear. Unfortunately one had a password on the iCloud so I went to restore it and successfully did that but when I go to set up the phone The could not activate iPhone appears. The same for the other phone. Except the phone had no iCloud password on it. So is it something with iTunes and Apple or is it my phones? They are both on Sprint.

If these phones were running iOS 7.0, your problem is Activation Lock. It's a new feature of iOS 7.0 that prevents activating an iPhone unless the original Apple ID/Password, that was used to originally activate the phone, is used. There is no way around Activation Lock. If you don't know this info, you won't be able to activate the phones, and Apple will not help you. The phones will be useless.

How do you "accidentaly" upgrade to iOS 5? Are you a registered developer? As I understand, Apple has told developers that they do NOT support downgrading from the Beta. You'll have to go over to the developers forums and see if someone there can help you.
If you're not a registered developer, then congratulations. You are now the proud owner of an iBrick until you either pay to enter the developers program or until the final release comes out in the fall.

I live in Toledo, OH. I just updated to 1.1.2 through iTunes. I have the "Blue E" icon up on my iPhone, but I keep getting the "Could Not Activate EDGE" dialogue every time I launch Safari.

Restore didn't change the firmware, it just reset all of the settings. It does delete all of your media(pictures, music video) but then restoring from backup puts back contacts, bookmarks, wifi settings, weather and stocks, but not the media. As long as you have your media backed up, it shouldn't be a problem.

Sometimes it happens when phone is not connected to Internet. If it is not - try connect to itunes on the computer and activate again. If it is - good luck and advice to reset password.

- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem

I've had the iOS 7 bet for as long as its been out, and it automatically updated to the full OS when that was released, and now, last night it just interrupted my usage, and brought me to a screen prompting me to "activate this iphone" and whenever I sign in and click "activate this iphone" nothing happens, than after a few minutes it says "could not activate this iphone"...

Try making a new Apple ID? I don't really understand what you mean.. Make a new apple ID, log in with that one and then when you are on your phone log out of it and THEN log in our old ID? If you still can't log in the old one then it's most probably a bug or something.. Anyway.. Good luck with your problem!!

Most likely your phone is carrier locked to a different carrier than the SIM card you're using. It will activate and operate only with the carrier to which it's locked.

Hold down the sleep wake button until the Apple logo appears. While still holding down the sleep wake button, also hold down the home button.
