2 iPhones under "devices" itunes

So recently I got a new iPhone and now whenever I plug it up to iTunes it pops up under the "devices" tab but so does my old iPhone. how do i get rid of my old iPhone under the devices tab?

Yes, but it's not usually recommended to share an iCloud account within a family.  If you do, any data you sync with iCloud will be merged and you, for example, will end up with each other's contacts and calendars on your devices.  Also, any action taken on one device (such as adding or deleting a contact) will be replicated on the other devices.  You will also all be sharing the same 5GB of free storage for all your data and device backups.
Normally it's best to use separate iCloud accounts for each person's devices.  This will keep your data separated, and allow each person to have their own free 5GB of storage.  You can continue to share the same iTunes ID within the family; the ID you use for iCloud does not need to be the same as the one your use for iTunes purchasing.  (Each person should also use a separate ID on their devices for iMessage and FaceTime to avoid getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.)

  • My iPhone 5s won't show up under devices, iTunes, or iMovie. Why?

I just set up my Mac Mini last night. It is not the newest one. But was brand new in a box. It has all updates to the newest operating system, exc.
I plugged my iphone 5s into the Mac Mini to upload to iMovie to edit a video. But, my device wont show up. I checked Finder - Nothing. It just wont show up.
I tried unplugging and plugging it back in, and noticed that it shows up on imovie for a few minutes like it knows it there, but it just says "Iphone 4" - The number goes up each time it back in. But it sits there with the spinning load sign for about a minute then goes blank.
I have no idea what is going on, or why it wont read my phone.
If anyone knows why this is happening, and how i can fix it, I would really appreciate it.

    See:

  • My iphone4 is not seen on itunes. When I plug the iphone the device does not recognize it but the pc recognizes it as a camera or something. What can I do?

My Iphone is not seen on itunes when I plug it. I've tried everything that I found on the internet. but it still doesn't work, so I can't sync my iphone. What can I do? I have checked all the USB ports, I have desinstalled and installed again itunes, and I have run out of ideas.

When you plug it it, it should recognize it as an Apple IPHONE under devices. It will then bring the Camera/Connection wizard for the photos on the device. When you plug into different USB, it should bring the hardware wizard and tell you what its installing, what happens?
Under Device Manager, under Imaging Devices it will show up as Apple IPHONE. Is this being shown in your computer?

  • Remote App: iPhone not showing up under devices

I have the older iphone and have the newest versions of iTunes and the Remote app.
I have the "Look for iPhones" under devices checked
    I have sharing checked.
I changed my firewalls to the third radio and allowed incoming for iTunes.
I've tried starting the Remote app first, and then opening iTunes and vice versa.
Yes, they are on the same wifi connection.
I'm stumped. Why isn't my iPhone showing up?

Suffered for 50 minutes on this one today!
Finally got everything to work by digging a truck-sized hole through my firewall.
In my case I had to enable Bojour service- was for some reason disabled in my windows startup, can re-enable by Start>Run>services.msc and make sure Bonjour is set to automatic and start it.
Also had to open up my AVG antivirus firewall settings and make sure Bonjour was not blocked.
Also had to set my iphone's wifi ip address as a 'safe network' in AVG firewall settings.
ALSO had to go into my router settings and specify a new application rule for routing: In the case of my D-Link DGL4300 I chose Advanced>Gaming>Add Game Rule, then gave it 'itunes remote' as name, chose my computer ip for the IP Address, then 3689 for TCP and 5353 for UDP, and Allow All. Saved that.
Restarted iTunes and whattya know, it just worked (and I was never ever asked to enter that 4 digit passcode anywhere, soooo have no clue what the point of it is).

  • My Apple TV does not show up under devices, and more.

Okay, firstly, I am relatively new to Apple ptoducts.  I was recently purchased an Apple TV and a 27 inch iMac by my lady.  And yes, I realize how amazng she is.  She bought me these gifts to ensure that the last two and the next 4 months go by smoothly.  I was struck by a car while it was doing 65+ mph, than struck again by the same car, than ran over and jumped off of.  Yeah.... So needless to say I have severe brain damage, lost memory, a leg that is now 52% titanium and worse, I can not use my right arm.... for now, it may recover with the next two years.  so, I tell you this for a little "guilt" but mostly to excuse the formatting of this email.  It was typed entirely on my iMac and entirely using one hand, and not my primary hand at that.
I am not new to iTunes, I had a few purchases before this issue.  Between those purchases and my Apple TV "FUN" I have amassed quite a few: Seasons of TV and Movies.
1:   When I log in to my Apple TV, I can see all of the purchases that I made using both the Apple TV and those that I made previously using iTunes on my Windows based PC.  All is well.  They are organized by type and sorted perfectly.  That plus they stream quicky and completely.
2:   When I turn on my iMac and start iTunes, I do not see my TV seasons or Movies under the "Library" section on the left side of my iTunes screen.  I see the options, they are simply empty.  I see no content listed within them.
3:   I can however select the "Purchased" option under the "Store" section on the left hand side of the screen.  Once inside that options area, I can click on "Download Previous Purchases" in the lower right hand corner of the screen.  From there I can see all of my purchased TV and Movies, including those that I had previously purchased on my old windows PC and those purchased recently on my Apple TV set.  That and I can download them and make them available to my iMac version of iTunes.
5:   I am unable to see my Apple TV listed under the "Devices" section.  I also do not see the "Devices" section at all, however I assume that is because it is currently emty.
    QUESTIONS:
A:   Can you stream data such as TV seasons or Moies while using iTunes on an iMac.  Similar to the way that you stream them from your iTunes purchase histor while viewing them on an Apple TV?  Or do I need to download them inorder to view them?
B:   Is Apple TV shown under connected devices while it is connected to the Wi-Fi netwok?  I can see my Iphone under devices when I connect it with a cable to my iMac.  So I know that my devices section is working.  I simply fear that my Appl TV is not showing up brcause of existing issues.
    NOTES:
A:   All of my devices are updated with the latest available drivers.
B:   My Apple TV, iMac and iPad all work on the same Wi-Fi network.  That and they are all connected to the same iTunes account.
    C.   My lady is using a different login for the iMac.  Her iTunes is setup but is not usng my iTunes account, it is using her account and has access to her DATA.  When I log in to the iMac, my iTunes is working and is different from the iTunes that is operating under her username.
Ok Guys..and Gals please help me out.  The thing is, none of this is truly effecting me in a substantial manor.  I can see my purchase history, I can download parts of it to my iMac via iTunes, and my Apple TV is smoooooooth.  I mainly need clarification on the questions that I asked.  Can I stream using the iMac, should I see my Apple TV under devices, and why do I not see my DATA under the library section of iTunes?
THANK YOU for you time.  Remember, I am relatively new to Apple as a product.  And I fricking LOVE it.
When I was in my accident, my arm, my leg, my skull, my brain, my clothing, my key chain and my wallet, were all destroyed.  But my iPhone survived.  I have records both police and medical to prove this.  The one way I had to have any initial memory of my friends and family was in that phone.  I still have that phone, I always will.  So Apple if you need an awesome commercial for your iPhone, Vince has got your back!!!

Ok thank you so much, for your timely response.
    RESPONSES:
    1)   When I set up my iMac, I did not transfer any data directly from my windows PC.  I simply used the same iTunes login and account.  I have access to all of the files via the "Purchased" section of the iTunes store.  If I click "Download Previous Purchases"  text, I can download ALL of the purchases I have ever made.
    2)   I have the Apple TV 2, so good news, question answered.  I thought maybe it was the Apple TV 1, but it is the Black model, so bam.  Good response for you.  Well the whole damned reply is an awesome response, just pointing out that one piece of awesome.  I stated that it was an Apple TV 2, and yet you were still good enough to figure I could be mistaken, and provide me with knowleedge just incase.
    QUESTIONS:
    3)   So can my iMac not stream the data directly from itunes, without download?  Apple TV can, but perhaps that is something among many things that maker it unique, and awesome.
    SERIOUSLY.... THANK YOU...
I work in the computer support section for the Military.  The only problem is we use Windows , lol.  Well that and i've been gone for nearly 6 months on recover.  I go back next month though I hope.  But working in that field gives me the abilty to judge responses that run inside the same vein.  Your response was so awesome that I half thought I might have written it myself.

  • Removing albums from iPhone but not iTunes

I have the 16gb iPhone and would need to free up space on the device. I need to delete albums from the iPhone but not the iTunes library.
    Any suggestions?

You have been manually managing music and videos from the start, or your switched to this from syncing?
When switching from syncing to manually manage, all iTunes content on your iPhone should be erased first.
Since you are manually managing music and videos selected, you manually drag music and videos from your iTunes library to your iPhone in the iTunes source list to add music and videos to your iPhone. To remove music and videos from your iPhone, you need to delete the music and videos from your iPhone.
Open your iPhone under devices in the iTunes source list - select the right facing arrow pointing it down, which will reveal Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc. Select Music to reveal all music that is available on your iPhone. Select the music that you want to remove from your iPhone followed by delete.
In regards to syncing - when syncing selected playlists, you remove songs from the playlist or playlists in iTunes that is selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences to be transferred to your iPhone followed by a sync to remove the songs from your iPhone. If you want to keep the music in your iTunes playlists in iTunes but remove select songs from your iPhone only, select sync only checked songs and videos under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences. Uncheck the songs that you want removed from your iPhone in the playlists in iTunes followed by a sync. To remove an entire playlist from your iPhone, deselect the playlist under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync.

  • How do I transfer app purchases on my iPhone to my itunes library on a Windows machine?

I'm on Windows 8.1 and using iTunes 11.1.5.
I  was just going to update my phone from iTunes and I got a messege  saying (paraphrased), "There are apps on this phone that aren't in your iTunes  library. You should transfer all app purchases to your iTunes library  before continuing." I decided to just download without updating, but now  I'm wondering, how do I transfer app purchases to my computer?
Supposedly  (according to mac users who I've seen post this in this community) they  get a dialog when they plug their phone in asking them if they want to  transfer their app purchases or if they want to synch their phone. I  only get the option to synch my phone. So, how can I transfer my app  purchases into my iTunes library? (I know how to back the phone up, I  don't think that's the same thing).
    Thanks!

The iTunes source list is where you select things like your Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, AudioBooks in your iTunes library, and where your iTunes playlists for music is located.
Selecting your iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source list is how you make your various selections for syncing content with iTunes on your computer.

  • Syncing 2 iphones with 1 itunes.

I just bought my wife a 3gs and we were told at the store that we could sync my phone and her phone off of my itunes. does anyone know how to do that and if you do would you mind letting me know. Thanks for your time and help.

There is no device limit for the number of iPods/iPhones/iPads that can be synced with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on the same computer.
Each device has its own sync preferences with iTunes - selected under the various tabs for the devices sync preferences with iTunes, which can be the same with each iPhone, or completely different.
With the iPhone connected to iTunes and available under Devices in the iTunes source list, select the iPhone under Devices to make the various tabs for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes available - no different as you have been doing with your iPhone.

  • I synced my iphone 4 to itunes and now my music is gone

I synced my iphone with itunes and now the music on my iphone is there, but only under "songs". The playlist titles are still under "playlists" but the songs are gone. The artists are still listed under "artists", but their albums and songs are gone. All the music is listed under "songs". How do I fix it back to the way it should be? This issue is only on my iphone, itunes on my laptop is normal, playlists are there and full of the songs I put on them.

Left click on your iPhone under devices.
Click on the music Tab above the picture of the iPhone in the middle of the screen
Uncheck Sync music -click remove -click apply at bottom right
    wait for sync to finish
Recheck Sync music -Click apply at bottom right
Wait to finish - Check device
    Did that Work?

  • Can I sync my iphone to my itunes on a Samsung Galaxy

I have a new Samsung tablet and would like to be able to move my apple itunes to this and sync my iphone also. Is this possible and if so, how would I do this. I am definitely not technically minded so a skmple step by step guide would be very helpful. Thanks.

You cannot sync a non-iPod or non-iOS device with iTunes.
Connect your iPhone to your computer after launching iTunes. Your iPhone should appear under Devices in the iTunes source list at the left. Select your iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source list to make the various tabs or selections for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes appear in the main iTunes window. Make your selections under the various tabs or selections for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync.
If you have previously owned and synced and iPod with iTunes on your computer, the same applies to an iPhone and with any other iOS device.
