2 iPod Touches, 1 Account, 2 Computers.

As the title implies, my sister and I both own our own iPod Touch, each with our own computer and iTunes library, but we share one iTunes account. She has already purchased the January software upgrade, and hers appears to be working fine. However, when I try to purchase the update for my own iPod, it tells me that I've already purchased it... How can I fix this issue?

Do the update on the computer where the software was purchased, but don't sync your iPod to the iTunes library there. After the update is installed you will still be able to sync to the library on your own computer. Just don't try to do a an update or restore there. I do the same to update/restore my wife's iPod touch on my MacBook Pro, but sync it to the library on her PC.

  • 2 iPod Touches, 2 Accts, 2 Computers, 2 Generations..Update from 1 Acct?

I have read all the postings on updating multiple iPod Touches but I'm still not sure of what I need to do in my case. I own 2 iPod Touches. I use the newer one (Gen2) for personal use and use the older one (Gen1) for work. I manage the newer one using my personal iTunes acct. on this computer (a Mac Mini), and the other one using a 2nd acct on the PowerMac in my studio. I just updated the newer one on this computer.
Can I update the older Gen1 Touch from my personal iTunes account and not the 2nd account with which it is normally managed? If so, how do I do it and what computer should I use? Ideally I'd like to get the 2nd update at no additional charge, but I would be willing to pay if needed. But I'd like the payment to come out of the money that I already have in my personal iTunes account and not have to add more money to my 2nd account.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you saying you have two iTunes accounts but they are both yours? Has that been a pain being able to play your own purchased music?
I wrote that other post about the 4 iPods. I could be wrong but I think you will have to pay twice. You could always sign in to your account with the credit and do both, but you probably should make sure both iPods are also signed in to the same account first, then you may be able to switch back. Either all will be fine or you might have to restore or reload that second iPod. The only reason I even suggest this though is because they are both your iPods.

  • I have a new Mac PC but my IPod touch ITunes account was on my old desk top, how do I get all my music on my new MAC? It appears I might have 2 ITunes accounts which is why my IPod is not synching all the songs, please help.

I have a new MAC PC with an old IPod Touch that was synch to my old desktop, how do I get the new music on my new MAC if I might have had an old account?

The article in my previous reply said:
    - Transfer iTunes purchases from iPod to computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - For non-Tunes purchases you need to use a third-party program. Several are discussed in the link in my previous reply
    - Then to sync with the new computer after getting all synced media like apps and music on the new computer yo have to backup the iPod to iTunes and restore from that backup
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

  • IPod Touch email account password saved securely by iTunes on PC?

I have an old iPod Touch running the iPhone OS for iPod Touch version 3.1.3 (7E18).  I'm not sure what the 7E18 means.
When I use the builtin email app to access email over WiFi, my password is stored in the iPod Touch.  Is this piece of info squirrelled away on the PC by iTunes during synchronization?  If so, how securely is it kept?

Passwords are included in the backup of the iPod that iTunes makes as the first step in syncing your computer.
"Keychain (this includes email account passwords, Wi-Fi passwords, and passwords you enter into websites and some other applications. If you encrypt the backup with iOS 4 and later, the keychain information is transferred to the new device. With an unencrypted backup, the keychain can only be restored to the same iPhone or iPod touch. If you are restoring to a new device with an unencrypted backup, you will need to enter these passwords again.)"
There are backup extractors but the one I looked at did not mention to be able to extract the keychain.  I would expect the keychain items to be secure since mac use a keychain and it is secure.

I have an iphone, and have bought an ipod touch for my 10 year old daughter. I would prefer she does not have her own email address at this age, so can I set up her ipod touch without an email address, and just use my email address for the apple account for registration to itunes?

  • Very angry with my iPod touch 2nd gen and computers, please help.

Alright, I have access to two computers. One computer has Itunes, alls fine and dandy, expect the computer does not see that my ipod is plugged in at all. The ipod doesn't see that it is plugged in and will not charge. The other computer, after failing to update Itunes, will not allow me to download Itunes. I've uninstalled all of the applications connected with it and it still will not work. A bonus to the fact is that my ipod shows up as a camera. Now I've looked up solutions, tried them out, nothing. I'm about to throw my ipod at my computer.

For the first computer start here:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
For the second computer, try completely removing and reinstalling all the Apple software:
'Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
That link provides a link for XP.

  • Could an ipod touch work with two computers?

My PC dual boots between vista and XP.
the itunes libraries are slightly different, and i would like to save myself the trouble of moving my old library to vista. (re-linking every track, having things missing, all of that fun stuff) I would rather just sync it twice. Is that possible?

Well, you can't "sync it twice" as such, since the 2nd sync will overwrite the first. But your IPT will happily play nice with several computers so long as you set it to manually manage music and videos, and make sure sync applications is unchecked under the apps tab. I have mine set up this way and use it with my imac, macbook and the clunky old G4 Graphite I use in work.
Incidentally, if you fire up your PC in Vista, launch iTunes, open up the prefs and go to the advanced tab, you should be able to point your iTunes directly at the iTunes music folder on your XP partition by using the 'change' button, negating the need to move anything anywhere. Just remember to uncheck the 'keep itunes music organized' option.

  • Itunes doesn't recognize Ipod Touch 4g

I purchased my daughter a brand new Ipod Touch 4G last weekend.   When we connect the new Ipod Touch to my daughters computer, Itunes won't recognize her Ipod Touch.   However, I can attach her Ipod Touch to two other computers and it recognizes without problem.
When I plug in the Ipod touch to her computer, it makes a noise indicating it has recognized something is plugged in but nothing is recognized in Itunes.
And what is more strange is her computer will recognize four other Apple devices without problem (an I Phone 4G, an I Phone 3G, an I Pad 2 and a Ipod Touch 3G).
I have completely gone through the recommended Ipod Touch Trouble Shooting steps 4 times now and have no success with the Ipod Touch recognized on my daughters computer.   I have completely removed all the Apple software (Bonjour, Itunes, Apple, etc.) and reinstalled.     I have even removed the anti virus software and it didn't help.
I have also tried to completely erase the Ipod Touch holding down the Sleep Walk button and Home Button for 10 seconds.   After plugging in to her computer when indicated, I get an error message that the reset was not successful.
It is so strange that her computer recognizes 4 other apple devices without problem and her Ipod touch is recognized by 2 other computers without problem.   There has to be a specific reason that it won't work on my daughters computer.
Any suggestions beyond the Ipod Touch Trouble Shooting link?

    - First try placing the iPOd in recovery mode and resoring via iTunes on the computer: For recovery mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808- Then it is time for an appountment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.  Sounds like you have a defective iPod.

  • Itunes messed up my ipod touch

i recently downloaded itunes on my new laptop. the 64 bit version to be exact. i been using 64 a long time ago and plugged my ipod touch in lots of computers no problem. this new version of itunes disconfigured my ipod touch completely, everytime I connect it, it tells me to "set up my new ipod" restore from a backup made?!?!?!!? and worse of all, now my ipod loses charge all the time. i would be more than glad to restore my ipod but my music is my home computer and im very far from there.
Any solutions to make itunes stop modifying my ipod touch???
btw nice one apple, thx on making faulty software.

Could be the cable.  Have you tried:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    or
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

  • How to Set Universal time in iPod Touch?

the ipod touch's date and time has been changed by itself,
so i want to change the time in to universal time
Is there a way that i have to set by my self but doing other things?
like example, my window computer's clock is universal time
can i synchronize that in to my iPod?
    What Should I do????
    PLZ Help ME!!

You can set the time zone on your iPod Touch to UTC. Open Settings and proceed from there. See the screen shot...

AFAIK there is no way to natively sync your iPod Touch time with your computers clock. Note the iPod Touch built-in clock is pretty good, in my experience, and exhibits little drift.
