2 Ipods. 1 Computer. 2 Windows XP accounts. 1 Dilemma

Hi,
I have Windows XP, and a question. I have two differnt Ipod owners in my house, but only one computer. We have two different accounts on XP, but when we install and open Itunes on either one, the Library is the same. Both Ipod owners have diffent tastes in music and don't want the same Libraries. How do I get the two iTunes on the different accounts, with differnt libraries?

I use Libra with one Windows XP account to sync multiple ipods.
If you have 2 Windows XP accounts, you should not have any problem and do not need any additional software. If you what to share music library; move the library to a central directory where both accounts can access it.
One ipod uses one account and the other ipod uses the second account. ITunes on both accounts should point to the central directory.

  • 2 Ipods - 1 Computer - Setup to Itunes Account

I have an ipod that I had an Itunes account with and have had no problems.
My son just received an ipod. He had hooked his Ipod into the computer using my itunes account. All the songs I had -got into his ipod. He then proceeded to download more songs off of Itunes. But then I had problems when I plugged mine in. So I think he would need his own account.
I've been looking through the forums and realized he just has to sign in on his user screenname. Makes sense. So we did and got an account set up.
However, when I plugged his ipod in it showed up using my name? Also it says that his Ipod is synced with a different users library (which would be mine). It says it will have to erase everything in his Ipod.
I know if I erase everything then he starts using his account it would work. However, how do I get the songs that he downloaded on my user name to his user name?? Also if we go ahead and erase his Ipod and plug it in will his username be correct or will it still be under my name??
If someone has a idea or solution please let me know. I'm not really great with computers so If I could get step by step directions I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by your question about erasing his iPod and having it still be under your name, but as for putting the songs he has in your library over into his library, that's not too hard.
One way is to find out where they are located on your hard drive (which folder, and the pathway to get there). I could be more specific if I knew what OS you were using.
Anyway, open his account and iTunes. Go to "File: Add File to library." Navigate to where the files on (via the pathway you just looked up) and import the songs into his library. You can then delete them out of yours as it will copy the file for him.

  • Multiple ipods, one computer with multiple user accounts - Vista

My daughter just got a new ipod for Christmas, and she has her own login on our family computer using Vista. So she has her own folders for documents, pictures, etc. I installed iTunes under her login thinking that it would pull songs from her the folders in her account, and allow her to log into her iTunes account. It pulled every song on the computer into iTunes. When I plug in her ipod I have an option of syncing it and pulling every song on to it. Bad user experience.
My request is simple. How can my daughter have her own login for itunes that is tied to her iTunes account, pulls music from her files when she is logged in on the family computer?

Hello David Macintyre, Welcome to discussions.
If your daughter has a majority of iTunes Store purchased content on her iPod. She can transfer all these purchases back into iTunes via the following informational link below.
This will then allow her to sync back and forth from the iPod. You will also need to ensure she is authorized on this account. There is a link below that covers this as well.

  • 2 Ipods, 1 computer with one user account

To put my question very simple. I have 2 Ipods, one called Andy's Ipod, which is installed and shows up in the Source window when I plug it in, and another Ipod which I can't get to work.
Is it possible for the other one to also show up in the Source window when I plug it in without having to shut down Itunes or create different user accounts??
All I want is to plug either one in and have it show up in Source.
    possible???
I've tried reading everywhere but the info on this aint very good.

  • Using 2 ipods on one computer with Windows XP

Is it possible to have two iTunes accounts on one computer with Windows XP? My brother already had an iTunes account on this computer and then I got an iPod too. I just loaded his music onto my iPod at the time, but I want to delete all of the music he gave me and start over. I want my own iTunes account so I can load my own songs. He's afraid that if I erase all of the songs from my iPod and reload from his iTunes it will mess up his iPod as well. What should I do?

The following link should help you out & explain all of your options.

  • My computer crashed.  How do I sync the songs on my iPod nano back to my iTunes account?

My PC crashed and I need to sync my iPod nano back to my iTunes account.  How do I do that?

This is a problem I've had before too, but it's fairly easy to fix without even using iTunes:
Make sure in the folders options on your computer, you are able to view hidden files and folders.
Then, go into your iPod with my Computer>iPod control>music. There will be folders called F00, F01, F02 etc. In them will be the music on your iPod (in mp3 or aac format). The file names will be weird, like DGFB or HRRE or whatever, but iTunes or Windows Media Player (if you have Windows 7) will recognise the media info.
Basically, just copy the files out of the folders and back onto your computer and put them into iTunes like you normally do.
If you do this right it will work because I have done this before when my computer got a really bad virus and I had to reset it, as I couldn't even log on properly.

  • Have an old computer with windows xp that I replaced with a windows 7.  Can't recover my Itunes account and library.  Please help!

I have a full library in itunes.  I can still purchase form the Ipod but since buying a new computer, I can't recover the library or account on the new computer.  Old computer ran windows xp now running windows 7

Why can't you recover the account?  The account is not tied to the computer... simply log in.
The media must be moved from one computer to another, simply signing into iTunes does not cause it to magically appear.

Brand new computer with Windows 8.1 will not sync to iPod Classic 120G.  Windows does not recognize anything but iPod Touch?  Is there a simple solution.  Diagnostics have run and failed to point to a fix.

Might be worth tearing down the whole iTunes install and starting over...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.

  • 1 Apple TV 2nd Gen, Windows 7 Computer with multiple user accounts

The issue that I am having is I have 1 Apple TV 2nd Gen and Windows 7 Computer with multiple user accounts.
When I log onto my Windows user account, open up Itunes and turn on home sharing my Apple TV work perfect but if another family member switches to their Windows user account without logging me out, the home share shows up on Apple TV but it just says "Loading ... Library" and never loads.
If we switch back to my user account, restart iTunes, everything is fine. Is there a way to keep my home share active in ATV2 across multiple user accounts? All of my video is under my account.

You can home-share multiple libraries but only use one account at a time.
