Hi all,
Just wondering at all if my wife and I can put or synce her Nano 2nd Gen and my Classic on the same Itunes account or do we have to have another e-mail account. Or how does it work if their is any guru that can help us.

Yes you can use your iPods with the one iTunes library. When you are sharing an iTunes library, you don't have to set each iPod to update in the same manner, you can mix and match from the options below as each iPod has it's own update settings.
Sharing a Library and/or User Account
If you want to share the one library, you can set either or all of the iPods so that they only get updated with only certain playlists (you can update from more than one if you wish): Syncing Music to iPod
Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for the iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used some other time if you choose. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Or you can choose to update any or all of the iPods manually and just drag whatever content you want to them: Managing content manually on iPod

  • Multiple iPods on one Itunes account

I have had an iTunes account on my laptop for years, and have it currently hooked in withan iTouch.
My fiance just recently bought a new iPod, and I am wondering if I can hook her new iPod to my laptop w/ the iTunes account, and not ruin anything?
Also, she is about to buy a new laptop, so if she can put music on her new iPod from my iTunes account, when she puts her new iPod on the new laptop, will it wipe it off?
Thanks for your help in advance.
    JM

Make sure each iPod has a unque name and just connect the iPods to the computer one at a time. Check the apps and other items that you want synced to each iPod.  Also see:

  • Can I use 2 ipods on one itunes account?  I have also used 2 computers.

I'll try to make this clear.
I had one computer and one ipod set up on itunes. The computer ran on Windows XP.
I gave the computer to my niece and left the itunes account alone.
I bought a new computer that runs Windows Vista. I installed a new itunes account.
I bought a smaller ipod to record audio books. I wanted to keep the larger ipod for music.
Now I have the smaller ipod on the new computer. If I decide to download music, I can't use the larger ipod that I want to use for music. How can I own two ipods and use itunes? I am not file sharing. I just wanted two devices for two purposes because I like to keep the audio books separate. Now if I go back to the original ipod (the larger video one)it is not recognized on my new computer. A lot of the music on the original Windows XP computer was from CDs that I owned, not just music I purchased. I probably should have just stuck with one ipod, but I didn't. I am so confused.
Can I put the music on my old ipod, from the old computer, on the new itunes? I would then just use the new ipod. It probably has much more storage than I realized. Then what happens when it syncs? Would I lose everything? Is there a machine that can transfer music from one ipod to another, then I could just sync it all on the new ipod and new computer?

    Hi mverza
Yes you can use as many ipods as you like on differnet itunes libarys. As long as you manually manage your ipods and don't sync. You can put your purchased music on as many ipods as you like (as long as you manually manage your music and you connect to the computer you bought it from). You can transfer purchased music to your ipod for a maximum of 5 computers (so you can play music purchased music on only 5 computers) although apple have changed the rules so there is no file protection)
But see here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420 for more infomation.

  • Using 2 iPods with one iTunes account.

I share a computer with someone who also has a iPod and we have one version of iTunes downloaded. Although we have seperate user names iTunes seems to autosync what she's put in the library to my iPod and vise-versa. We would love to share some of the files that we pay for, but we certainly don't want to share everything. Is the best option for us to just sync our files manuelly instead of auto-syncing?
    Thanks

There are actually a few methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
Just to summarise what's in the link above which is a little out of date:
Method one is to have individual Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you completely separate iTunes Music folders and libraries.
Method two is to set your preferences so that any or all of iPods get updated with only certain playlists within one library:
Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for each iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPod. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Another option when using a single library is to set any or all of the iPods to manual update: Managing content manually on iPod

  • I'd like to remove an ipod from one itunes account and create a seperste account for it without losing songs purchased on it. how do I do that?

my daughter would like to seperate her ipod from the family account(little brothers using her itunes cash). How can I do that with her being able to keep the content that is already on her ipod?

You can directly load content from different accounts on one device. It must be linked to only one at a time.

  • How to connect 3 ipods to one itunes account?

We have 3 ipods ( 2* nano and 1 mini) in the family each belonging to people with differing musical tastes but only one computer. Can we set up 3 different profiles in itunes so when we each download music we only download our own respective choices. The nanos are being extended to their memory capacity.

There are a couple of methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Have a look at the article linked below. Method one is to have three Windows user accounts which by definition would give you three completely separate libraries. Method two is to set your preferences so each iPod is updated with only certain playlists within one library. Have a look anyway and see what you think and go for whichever you feel suits your needs best: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
If you go for method two, you can choose the update option "automatically update selected playlists only" which would mean you could create a playlist specifically for each iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPods. Make your playlist a Smart playlist and limit the size to just below the advertised capacity of your iPod Mini or Nano (around 3700MB for a 4G). You can read more about playlists at these links:

  • Syncing multiple ipods to one itunes account

I have two ipods nano's and two shuffles. I'm having difficulty getting the twonano's to sync to aone account. One is recognized, when the second is plugged in, the sync ipod options is greyed out and not available. I haven't got past this to try the shuffles yet. Any help? All of the directions that I find state that it should plug and play by merely plugging the second in in and selecting sync......

Check your update preferences. Click on the picture of the iPod in the left pane of iTunes. This will bring up the tabs in the main pane to the right. In the first tab "Summary" check to see if your iPod is set to "manually manage songs and playlists" if it is remove the checkmark and the one against "enable disk use" and click "Apply", your iPod should sync automatically after that.
If it's not set to manual and still won't sync then try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

How can we keep out personal settings and information seperate on the cloud?

Yes, there is a way to use the new apple id with iMessage.  First, go into your settings on your iOS device and click on Messages.  Then, click on recieve at in the messages settings.  You can then click on your apple id at the top and signout.  After, log into your new account.  Your other option is to click add another email and enter your new email for iCloud.

  • How do i sync one itunes account with two iphones, one ipod touch, and a nano?

I need help in how to sync the one itunes account we use as a family with the two iphones my wife and i have and an ipod touch that my son has and a nano that my daughter has. Please help.

That article applies, as far as I can tell, to all things called iPod X where X can be nano, touch, classic etc.
We don't have two iPhones in the family as yet but as I understand it each device can have separate settings for syncing calendars and contacts. For example my iPhone syncs these over the air with the Exchange server at work so if/when my wife gets an iPhone it would be easy to have hers sync to our computer
To make sure your apps don't inadvertently merge turn off Automatically sync new apps from the apps tab when you connect your device.
The Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer suggests a number of ways for managing the media content. I use method two (Sync with selected playlists) with a slight twist. Rather than regular playlists I set the grouping field to indicate which users should receive which tracks and create smart playlists based on the content of this field.
    e.g.
"Alice's Tracks" is "Grouping contains Alice" + "Kind contains audio"
"Bob's Videos" is "Grouping contains Bob" + "Kind does not contain audio"
Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
    etc.
I currently manage our family's five iDevices using this system, each getting a different selection to suit their tastes and the capacity of their device. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed and need rebuilding. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.

  • HT5622 How many family members, computers, iPods,iPad,IDs can you have on one iTunes account?

I'm just trying to sort out some iTunes I'd issues.  Does anyone know how many total iPad iPods can be used with one Apple ID?  Or how many apple  IDs your can have with one iTunes account? Or does each person need there own Apple ID or Apple account? Thanks

You can't have multiple IDs on one account, but you can use multiple IDs for different purposes on the same device.
Just use the one AppleID for iTunes and the AppStore so you can all share your music and app purchases. Then each person should have their own individual AppleID with associated iCloud account for mail, contacts, calendars, iMessage and FaceTime.
You don't have to use the same AppleID for all services.
