2 ipods one library i want to add song to both ipods

We have two ipods and one pc. I purchased a song and want it to be on both ipods. It was added to my ipod but it won't let me add it to my son's ipod.

It soungs hard if you do not know how, but actually it is very simple.
Connect and select iPhone in Mac's iTunes sidebar, in Music tab, select Sync Music and Selected playlist, artists, etc... Select the song you want then click the Sync button.

Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time.  If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, it will replace the contents of the iPod with whatever is in the new library. You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabling the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Before doing anything else,  authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account.  In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials. Either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.
Then right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.

Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc.  For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.  For all other nonpurchased iTunes content, see this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Once the backup has been made and all other synced content such as music, videos, and photos are back in your iTunes library, restore your iPod from that backup you made earlier.  Here is more on backing up and restoring your iPod.

If you do happen to lose any purchased content, you can always redownload it from the iTunes Store again at no cost via iCloud.  See this article for information.

  • Had 3G, moved to 3GS.  Backed up 3G and restored 3GS from backup with no problem.  When I want to add songs, I get itunes message that the new iphone is synced to another computer and now wants to erase everything.  How can I add music?

Had 3G, moved to 3GS.  Backed up 3G and restored 3GS from backup with no problem on a Dell computer.  But now when I want to add songs, I get itunes message of death that the new iphone is synced to another computer and now wants to erase everything.  How can I add music without erasing everything on my new iphone?

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me.  Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

  • HT204371 I have an Extreme and want to add an Express, both to offer AirPlay capability to my home stereo

I have an Extreme and want to add an Express, both to offer AirPlay capability to my home stereo and also provide a wired port to a music vault. Is there no way to do this simultaneously? To have the express be able to switch between client and WDS modes?
    <Edited by Host>

    Good afternoon finguerres,
It is not necessary to have your AirPort Express change from Wireless Distribution Ssystem (WDS) to wireless client mode in order to use AirPlay. WDS will work just fine. See this article -

In particular the section titled Connecting to an existing Wi-Fi network as part of a legacy WDS or Extended Network.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Where is the iTunes 'Books' library? Want to add pdf to iBook app

I have been looking for over an hour... there is nothing on my computer screen for iTunes that says 'Books' - I want to bring a pdf book into iBooks. How can I do this. Previously answered questions on this say to drag the pdf to the 'Books' library which would be fine if it existed. Off to the left of my screen I see only "Movies, Music, TV Shows and Apps" then Store and then Purchased and then my iPad which is plugged in.
Can someone help me solve this issue I have every time I want to add a book to iTunes to the iBook app on my iPad, I have already gone to File > Add to Library and it acts like something happened but there is no PDF book showing up in iBooks or my Adobe Acrobat app. What am I doing wrong?
    TIA,
    Ken

I found the app and put it on the dock and added the pdf but in iTunes it wants me to do a dangerous action, removing all music tones,,, and a long list of other things, like books that don't show up in this new iBook app on my Mac, I don't want to risk losing all of my PDF books and other books that are now on my iPad. Things get sticky and I've already lost tons of stuff by upgrading to Maverick in the first place. I think the warning message was enough motivation for me to forget about iBook and use another more friendly app like iAnnotate to bring in PDF files. Whew, well at least I know that there are apps out there that can be more friendly than the Apple apps., like I've abandoned 'Notes' and am now using Evernote which keeps backups in the cloud which updates to all of my divices. Thanks sberman, you did lead me to the correct answer on this. I'm just not going to chance losing everything.

  • I want to add song info to music, but how do I do it with iTunes 11?

I wanted to add info to songs of local artists who don't have song info in the CD and mixed CDs that friends make for me! I don't know how with iTunes 11!

Select the song you want to add info to > go the the menu bar at the top and under > File select the > Get Info option. A new window should open where you can add all the metadata (CD, artist, name, genra, art, lyrics, and more).

  • Music on ipod is not in library can I still add songs?

So all of the music that is currently on my ipod was not backed up from my old itunes library and I definitely don't want to lose the entire collection I have on my ipod.
If I were to buy songs from itunes is there a way to add those songs without losing all of the the content I have on my ipod?

You can't sync your music back from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod. This is just a selection, have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

  • TS1389 Hi, I am Natalie Prince and I opened my Itunes account in 2006 when I got my Ipod.  I purchased lots of music.  Over the years I haved changed computers and phones.  I now have an HTC One and I want all the songs from my old account on it.

I think I had an old itunes id.  When I go to Itunes on my program list all of my music comes up, there are probably a hundred or two songs.  But it never let me burn them to anything other than my Ipod.  I changed my password so now when I pull up my account there is no music.  Can anyone tell me how to find my old account and then copy that music to my HTC One.?

Either you did or did not.  Do you not remember?
    elkelawdog wrote:

Media is not burned to iDevices.  Burning an iDevice would destroy it.
Why will iTunes not allow you to sync media to the iDevice?  What happens when trying to sync media to an iDevice?

    Changed password to what?
    Pull up what account?
What does this have to do with iTunes?
One does not pull up an account to access their media, they simply launch iTunes.
Changing a password has nothing to do with accessing the media on the computer when one launches iTunes.
What is the actual issue that is occurring?

iTunes has nothing to do with putting media on a non-Apple device.

  • I have the photography plan and want to add the complete package so that I have 2 licenses for Photoshop and 1 for everything else.

I purchased the photography plan for one person, and want to add the complete package for myself.  I don't see where I can add another package online.  It just says I can upgrade the photography one I currently have.

    Hi Jeremy,
It sounds like just joining Creative Cloud with a different email address/Adobe Id for the full membership would be what you should do rather than upgrading.

  • I cannot add songs from my computer to my iTunes library

Ok so basically, I cannot add songs to my library. I cannot add songs to a playlist either. Evertyime I try to drag songs from a folder to my library, nothing happens. It was working fine yesterday, but now it isn't. I have tried logging back in and out of iTunes, shutting down my PC and trying again, etc. I searched google and here and it wasn't really a problem. I have tried installing and unistalling iTunes also. So, any help?

Go to iTunes menu EDIT > PREFERENCES > ADVANCED Tab
you may find iTunes Media file Location box is blank(sometimes this happens after an update).
If that is the case, click the change button and link it to your iTunes Media Folder as follows:
    Win 7    C:\Users\<username>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media
    WinXP  C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media

  • Recently got a new computer and need to add songs to my iPhone.

Hey, my old computer on which I used to sync my iPhone was destroyed. I purchased a new mac and wanted to add songs to my iPhone. However, it tells me that my iPhone is only allowed to be synced to one computer (guessing my old one). It prompts me with a msg telling me that if I go ahead with the syncing process, all the items on my iPhone will be deleted (iPhone 4s). I have over 500 songs on there and many contacts, which I do not want to be deleted. Is there a way that I can sync my iPhone to my new computer without it deleting all my things?

Iphone will sync with one computer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the content of the iphone and replace it with content from the new computer, so copy everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one first.

  • I downloaded a movie to the wrong library by accident. now i can't put the movie on my husband's ipod because it says it can only sync to one library at a time. how do i fix this? i don't want to get rid of the old videos, i just want to add new ones

i really don't know what i did wrong. i logged into itunes using my husband's id, then bought some movies. but for some reason, it downloaded them to my library, not his. now i can't put them on the ipod. is there any way to get them out of my library and into his library? i tried home sharing, but it still won't let me sync them to the ipod

Copy the movie from the current library to the correct library.
iDevices can only sync to one library at a time.
