How do I use more than one iPods on the same computer?

It's actually quite simple and easy.
I have two 2ndGen Shuffles and manage them on one Comp; the Mac recognizes them as distinct and different (I gave them diff. names), and sometimes I even have them both connected at the same time, no prob. I load one w/ music and the other w/ audiobooks/podcasts.
I don't really understand your question about how to use more than one - they appear separately in iTunes.
What probs do you have or anticipate? What are your plans for using them that you expect probs?

Reset ( No Data will be Lost )

Duplicate podcasts on ipod on comp, not on device, and not the same number on the device

I have a podcast problem. My itunes settings for podcasts are corrrect I believe. My ipod always shows less than on the itunes library when synced but I've got o over that and decided to listen to the missing ones on the computer.
NOW though when connected the ipod showing in itunes is showing duplicate items of the same ipod. and it's totally random which ones it picks. I've tried deleting podcasts and resubsribing. Tried restoring ipod several times, checked updates none of which work. for example right now I have 58 unheard podcasts in my itunes library on comp. on the actual ipod I have 33 only. on the ipod showing on itunes on the computer I have 147 which is made up of random duplicates, some read, some not read.
Can anyone help?

Do have iTunes 11.2,2 on the computer? That is the latest version and fixed some problem with Podcast syncing

Ipod & Ipod Mini on the same comp

I have a 4th gen ipod clickwheel & my girlfriend has just bought an Ipod mini.
How can we use them on the same computer, without messing up my ipod & it's current library.
Please help.

When you connect the mini you will name it so each time you connect a different pod you can select it by name on screen hope that helps

Two Questions, 2 ipods one comp, and video organization.

Two questings That I have. One, my wife might be getting another IPOD and just wondering how it all works with hooking up two ipods to one computer. My friend tried hookin his up to mine and it just said something about erasing all he has and putting my library on his. So is it possible to have two different libraries, for two different ipods, on one comp? SECOND question. Is there anyway I can organize the Video area a little better. maybe make another folder or section, you know one for podcast, one for movie trailers, one for featurettes instead of having them all in one spot?

I think you have to go into itunes settings and select update only checked songs or manual update only. Sharing the same computer while managing different music lists between two or more ipods is do-able but a pain. I recommend keeping a seperate computer for each ipod whenever possible. And never delete the music on your computer as that's your first line of backing up defense.

Multiple iPods, same computer....HELP

I know this question has probably been answered, but I have tried other things and nothing works.
I have Windows XP, and I have my own account on it and my own iPod(4th gen, click wheel) and my sister has her own account and her own mini iPod. Our music is shared in the shared music folder on the computer.
Problem is, how do we use multiple iPods on the same computer. I am having trouble because whenever I/we plug in our iPod to the computer, it does not load to iTunes and instead just shows up as something in the E drive. How can I make it recognize each iPod individually without hassle?
Also, is there a way to not have everyone log out to update my iPod? I get a prompt that says everyone must log out before accessing iTunes. Any help would be great...thanks!

There are basically two methods for managing multiple iPods on one computer. See here:
Method 1 - Create different Windows users accounts for each iPod on this computer.
Method 2 - Create a playlist in iTunes for each iPod.
To make Method 2 work, connect one of your iPods, and click on it in the left-source panel.
Under the "Music" tab, and set your option for a specific playlist(s) under the "Sync Music" option.
Do the same with your other iPod; not connected at the same time as the other one, though.

Replacement iPod, Same Problem.

I just got my replacement photo ipod and paid thirty dollars for S+H. Now, the new iPod has the exact same problem. What route should I take? Will I be able to get another replacement? What will Apple do to ensure it doesn't happen again?
I'm very upset and would like to hear what I should do.

IPod freezing comp

Well... I've been reading the forums for a couple of days, and have tried A LOT of things. My last resort was to actually stop being lazy and sign up for an account and see if you guys can help...
I have a click-wheel iPod (pretty sure it's 3rd gen) and I've had it for about a year and a half. I went to put some more music on my ipod a couple of days ago and my computer started acting really weird. Pretty much my iPod bogs down and freezes anything involving it. This includes My Comp, iTunes, iPod updater, Disk Manager, and pretty much anything else that is slightly involved with an iPod or hard drives. I wouldn't mind this so much if I actually still had music on my iPod, but it's wiped out. I also get the "!Folder" icon every now and again.
Heres what I've tried:
- 5 r's (Although can't restore because iPod updater doesn't recognize it)
- Installing it on a different computer as a 'new' ipod, using the itunes disk and such. (not connecting it before prompted)
- Connecting to my roomates computer (he also has an iPod)
- Un-installing the drives in system manager for the iPod and reinstalling.
- Soft restore (or whatever you guys call it... holding menu and select)
- Diagnostic mode (although i dont really know a lot about it, everything seemed fine)
- Disk mode
- Virus scan
- Also tried formatting with disk manager, after waiting about 45 mins for the window to come out of "not responding" finally got to be able to press the format button... 5 hours 3 percent
- Making sure the iPod was not on the "E" drive
As you can see i've been doing my homework on the forums. And, as of right now, it's at a friends house who has a mac, i'm waiting for a response as to if anything worked. Figured I'd post now and get a head start if the mac format doesn't work. I'm a college student and as you can probably guess i'm not too happy to pay 250-300$ for a repair/new iPod.

Got a new error. I left my ipod plugged in all weekend to see if iPod updtaer would come out of 'not respoding' and it did. so I hit restore and got "formatting failure... disk write error". so I put it into disk mode and tried again and it said it resotred it but didnt change any problems. ugh...

Can I use two different Touches (2G and 4G) with different OSs on same comp

I have a 2G 32 GB Touch running OS 3.13, which is just fine. I'm expecting a G4 64 GB Touch to arrive this coming week. I understand that OS 4.1 is already loaded on it.
Will I be able to use both Touches with differing OSs on the same computer? I really have no desire to update the OS on the older Touch as it has worked beautifully for 22 months!

You can have multiple ipods with different os's. For a few minutes I had my 2G at v4.0.1 and my 4G at v4.1.
I've never seen itunes automatically update the os on the ipod so you should be ok.

I have been struck with new requirement from client. During transfer case of employees from one PA to another PA (personal Area) the pernr doesnt changes within same company code or different company code.
My client needs if a employee has been transfered from one PA to another PA then automatically the Personal no. should change. It should happen for both within same company code or different company code, and his / her entiltled leaves should not be lossed, because its only tranfer case.
In current scenario, pernr doesnt change at all whether it may be same or different compant code.
guide me to resolve this with any configuration needed.

or you can also have this triggered in the action like In case of global mobility when an employee transfers from one country to another we transfer all his personal details to the new Pernr and have a link between both the pernr's you can ask the programmer to create a dynamic action that transfers all the current existing master data info types to the new Pernr

80g ipod freezes comp. and doesnt sync

i've had my 80g ipod for almost a year now. there have been a couple problems though this time, but i always knew what to do. now i have no clue whats happening. i first noticed that something was wrong when i was trying to listen to my music and it skipped over some of the songs that work fine before. i thought i just had to plug it in to the comp. and restore it. i restored my ipod so there were no songs on it, then went to sync it all back. it was syncing fine until half way through. it just froze my comp. i disconnected my ipod (whitch i know you shouldnt) and my comp. was fine again. my comp. told me there was an unknown error with the ipod. i have been restoring it and tring to get just my songs on it. but its just wont work. and i keeps turning off on its own and showing the apple icon.

MULTIPLE ALBUMS ON IPOD, SAME MUSIC.

I have been having this problem for a long time now and have finally decided to ask for some help.. The problem is that when i put an album on my iPod touch from itunes sometimes it may show 2 or even 3 albums of the same album. Though all of the albums have the exact same songs. here's an example -
this is quite annoying. also when creating a "smart playlist" for "recently added" on my iPod touch it works in itunes but completely messes up on my ipod.
just thought i would ask everything i need help with, hopefully someone can help!

iTunes and iPod have slightly different rules for ordering and grouping content. In particular the iPod does not observe Album Artist, each may have different settings for how to treat compilations, and inconsistencies in certain fields can have unexpected results, such as generating multiple covers for the same album.
