2 ipods with one computer

Can I use a nano and an itouch on the same computer and account?? My daughter has a nano and I want to buy the itouch.

Yes you can. Just plug the new ipod into your computer and follow the prompts. to be sure nothing changes quickly, check off "manage IPod manually", give the new ipod a different name than the one already synched and then add your music. it will show up as a different pod in the left hand column under "devices"

  • How do i synce two different ipods with one computer??

i recently purchased an ipod 5th generation for my other half which i have set up an account for and comes up when i plug in but the home page always comes up with my ipod stuff which is a 4th generation ipod. i have no problem with mine as it stores songs etc but when i plug the other one in it deletes whats on there and i have to manually tick all the songs again to sync back on to it. is this normal?? i am using a windows xp and have no issues with the computer and my ipod just the other one. i also have updated itunes to itunes 9 so the 5th generation ipod can download stuff. it seems to store songs and then when i go to download or update it takes them off and am back to square one!!!! please help!!

  • Can I sync 2 different iPods with one Computer

I want to buy a second iPod (Shuffle) and synch it with part of my content in iTunes. Is it possible?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Of course you can. I use 2 minis and 1 shuffle with my computer, and I am going to get a nano too.

  • Can I use more than one iPod with one computer?

    Howdy,
I have a (hopefully) quick question. Can I use two iPods with one user account on one computer? Can iTunes keep two different iPods separate with different syncing rules for the same user account and iTunes library? I'm interested in the answer for both Mac and Windows machines.
    Thanks!

  • Synching 2 iPods with one computer (lost library)

I have a classic iPod with about 55 Gb of music that I've been using with my computer for a couple years. Recently I purchased a Nano. After synching the Nano with the same computer I find that my iTunes library has been "trimmed" to contain only what is on the Nano. So I've lost about 45 Gb of material.
The iPod Classic, however, still has the entire 55 Gb original library. How can I restore what's on the iPod Classic to my iTunes library?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dylana

what's the point of synching? Everytime I synched it erased what was on my ipod and put what was in my library in my ipod. Seems kinda pointless. There's now way I'm gonna have 8000+ songs in my Itunes library.

  • Multiple ipods with one computer

i have an ipod nano. I just bought and connected my son's ipod shuffle on the same computer. My problem is that when I click on the itunes icon on my desktop, i get his library. I can't find my library in itunes, although the music files are in "my music". How do i get my library to show up in itunes and then toggle back and forth to keep our libraries separate?

I held the shift key as I opened itunes and created a second library. I can see both libraries (mine and my son's) in "my music" but can only see his music list once i open itunes.

My 2 kids have an ipod touch each. How do I create their own files so that they do not have to have eachothers choices and games on eachothers device? As well, we have 2 iphones that are connected as well.

    Yo should read the manual.
Open itunes, connect device, select what you want to sync, sync, disconnect device
Connect other  device, select what you want to sync, sync, disconnect device
Connect other  device, select what you want to sync, sync, disconnect device

  • How can I use two Ipods on one computer.

I was wondering if it is possible to use 2 Ipods on one computer without having to reload all of the music to the new library.

If you are adding a second iPod for your own use, just connect the new iPod to your computer and follow the on screen instructions. It will update from your existing library. Depending on the size of your library and the type of iPod you choose you can have it update all songs and playlists, selected playlists only or you can manage it manually
If the iPods belong to different users then there are actually a few methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
Just to summarise what's in the link above which is a little out of date:
Method one is to have individual Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you completely separate iTunes Music folders and libraries.
Method two is to set your preferences so that any or all of iPods get updated with only certain playlists within one library:
Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for each iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPod. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs

Another option when using a single library is to set any or all of the iPods to manual update: Managing content manually on iPod

I have my ipod dock connected now, would I need to add a dock for his or can he use mine? Do I have to change any settings to allow more then one ipod to use the same library?

  • Using 2 iPods with one iTunes account.

I share a computer with someone who also has a iPod and we have one version of iTunes downloaded. Although we have seperate user names iTunes seems to autosync what she's put in the library to my iPod and vise-versa. We would love to share some of the files that we pay for, but we certainly don't want to share everything. Is the best option for us to just sync our files manuelly instead of auto-syncing?
    Thanks

  • Can someone tell me how to use 2 ipods on one computer

well when anyone can ill be waiting for the answer i want to know cuz since im buying the ipod video i want to see if i can use the same computer that im uploading stuff to my ipod mini

There is no limit to how many iPods can run on a single PC. Or how many PCs a single iPod can connect to. Either by Apple design or by any legal issues.

  • Can I use 2 iPods in one computer?

I have an iPod Nano and my brother has an iPod Mini. We only have one computer in the house. Can we plug and use both iPods in one computer without affecting the contents of each of our iPods? Because it might delete my songs when he plugs in his iPod and vice versa.

There are a couple of methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries. Method two is to set your preferences so that either one or both iPods get updated with only certain playlists within one library. Have a look at this article and see what you think and go for whichever you feel suits your needs best: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
Method two, "automatically update selected playlists only" would allow you to create a playlist specifically for each iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPod. Make your playlist a Smart playlist and limit the size to just below the advertised capacity of your iPod Mini or Nano (around 3700MB for a 4GB or 1800MB for a 2GB). You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
A third option is to set one or both iPods to "manually manage songs and playlists" and drag whatever you like to them.
