2 issues with Brides ibook

The HD on her 14" G4 1.33 went out & I replaced it. I had backed the HD up a week or so prior to the HD going bad. I think I reconnected everything correctly using I fix it. I have run into a couple of problems and have been unable to get it up and running.
Not sure what happend to slot loading Combo CD/DVD drive. in the 4 years we have used this ibook I never noticed an apparent door on the drive. There may have been a Tech Tool disk in the drive to see if possible it might have been a software issue before dis assemblying the ibook to replace HD.
Now it appears that the slot drive door is closed/locked in such a way that I am unable to insert Mac 10.4 OS X disk to format HD install 10.4 then or go to external and install BU onto new HD. hitting eject /F12 key @ StartUp does not help not at all.
When I attach Firewire from G4 Tower to i book and start Tower in Target mode then start The target HD icon comes up I go to the HD to disk Utility an only thing that showes up under drives is the Target Drive 114.+ gig and under it the same Target drive named Big Mac Otto. The
newly Installed HD does not show up any where
I was thinking that new HD Would show up that I would Erase it and format it as an Apple HD.
Am I missing some info or have I missed a step
I was hoping to have it up and running so we could offer it to her pop. He's never had a computer but really loves the ipod we gave him with all the bird songs we could find on it & I was thinking we might get him on net and he could put more bird songs on his computer and his ipod without our help we only get to visit once or twice a year
when starting lap top w/out Target on, a little sad face / ? flickers back and forth on the screen and I think that is as it is supposed to be at this stage.any ideas are greatly appreciated

There may be some other computer options in quality rebuilt or repaired
portable Macs, or even an iMac, from a reputable company. Some are
older, few have OS X discs, some have a sample OS X running inside to
show they do in fact work; and various short term guarantees or other
terms apply to some of them that are offered by real companies who do
their own tech work. My few experiences with wegenermedia (in SC) in
person by phone, and email, leads me to think they've done a good job
in most of their dealings with people. They fixed one of my Macs & also
were helpful in a friend's parts inquiry from New South Wales, AU.
In any event, checking out the computer to see if there is a greater issue
than the hard disk drive, or cables, going on, is an important step; since
some models may have a loose connection or weak point on the logic
board, while others may have something less costly going on.
Were you able to see if the optical drive had anything inside it? The use
of a mouse, whose button gets held down on startup, may help to eject
a disc from those slot-load drives, if a touchpad or other problem exists.
Since hard disk drives are among the first things to go, after several
years of use, replacing or testing the unit to see if that was the issue,
is normal troubleshooting; but additional issues point to other problems.
Hopefully you can find a simple solution to this situation, that is worthy
of your efforts and also works to solve the intended purpose in fixing it.
{When it's in the cards (and budget) the nice way to go is to provide a
new or certified special deals Mac from Apple (online) and then within
the first year, get the extended AppleCare protection on it. Then the
item is correct or covered right out of the box; few surprises & right on.}

things are either a hammer or a screwdriver. Pointy or blunt tools.
Good luck & happy computing!

  • Issue with multiple iBook accounts and iTunes

My daughter and each have a user account on her iBook (mine is the Administrator). I am able to log onto iTunes and access the iTunes Store; however, if she is logged on, she cannot access the store. We went to an Apple Store today and could not get this figured out. Has anyone else had this issue, and if you did, how did you resolve it?

  • Issues with updating ibooks on new ipad

Hi all, I recently updated ios6 on my new ipad. When I tried updating ibooks app, the update never got done. Even now, it says "installing". I tried removing the ibooks app an reinstall the app. But I could not remove the app also as the x would not appear in the jiggly mode next to the ibooks icon. Can anyone help me resolve this issue? Thanks.

Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.

  • Issues with Apple's Application Loader

I have been having some issues delivering my ePub to iBooks through Apple's Application Loader device. I've contacted Adobe, who says my file is fine. Then Apple, who says there is an issue with my file. Then back to Adobe, who says their help ends with inDesign. Then back to Apple, who says I have to talk to Adobe.
Ever since kicking us publishers off Adobe DPS, I have been having unanswered issues with producing iBooks, which is the way that we have to produce inDesign files now. Namely, I get an issue saying an image, that isn't in my inDesign file, is too big to upload to Application Loader.
Has anyone had similar issues? Please help?

  • AC Power Adapter issue with new (refurbished) ibook...

I just got my refurbished ibook today and went to plug it in and test it, and then wanted to charge the battery on it. At first I thought it wasn't doing anything when I went to turn it on (it made the starting sound but the power button didn't turn on or anything), but then after trying a couple times, I noticed that the black screen had a faint image of an apple on it. I had the screen too far to the front for me to see it clearly (as it's an lcd screen) and later when setting my preferences, I had noticed the brightness was just too dim which I adjusted...
So the power button never did glow when it was turned on (at least I didn't notice it after I got it booted up). My adapter's plug fits loosely in the socket on the laptop but still glows green, but all the time... Isn't it supposed to glow orange when charging??? Well I was setting up everything and did my power management settings as well, and as I have it set up to show me my battery level on the desktop, I was noticing that it was depleting (at what I would guess is a normal pace for my current settings), it started off around 83% and had gone down to 58% or so after about 1 and a half hours with highest settings basically. But my power adapter was plugged in the whole time... Shouldn't it be using my AC power and not the battery's?
So I turned it off and now it is sitting there (hopefully charging), but that little green light on the adapter where it plugs into the laptop is just that, still green...
Does all this mean that there is a problem with the power adapter and its ability to actually charge my laptop? I got this refurbished (from TigrfDirect) with a 1 year warranty (from Apple) so this should be covered, but as I just received the thing today, I really don't want to have to deal with a messed up AC Adapter...
Also, I haven't even yet checked the battery itself to see what # it is and if it is one of the ones that is part of the recall or not... I would hate to have to do that and not have a working AC Adapter, though of course if the adapter is't working, I can't charge the thing anyways, so I guess I would have to wait another few weeks with dealing with Apple and the warranty issues anyways.
I looked in the help section and the only suggestion they had for if your battery doesn't charge is to take it out and put it back in and then attach the adapter again. I guess I could do that at the same time I check on the battery's recall status, I just hate opening my computer up as soon as I get it. Also the battery cover is not totally flush with the rest of the case, one corner sticks up a bit, and I think it was a replaced item as it doesn't have the little LED lights that the computer says should be there to tell me how much the battery is charged (unless this is UNDER the cover for some reason, but the cover is bright white compared to the rest of the ibook coloring, so it seems as it was just a basic replacement cover used)...
Ok, so thanks for any input you might have. I will let people know in a couple hours if the ibook has actually charged at all during that time or not...

So I did the reset button thing and it didn't do anything at all... If I plug in the power adapter without the battery the laptop will not turn on at all, so I am guessing that it definitely is the adapter and will have to contact Apple to somehow get a new one. Oh great, tomorrow's Friday and isn't this a holiday weekend? Which means it will probably take even longer to get them to send me a replacement adapter... You think that buying a refurbished mac would mean that they would have tested out all the parts/components first before reselling it...
And so while I was at it, I checked on my battery's model # and serial # and it is one of the ones on the recall list. I think I was right that it had been replaced (now that I know that the battery is part of the back cover) which would probably explain the recall battery as this is one of the older ibooks and should have been one of the lucky ones made before the ones on the list... I did get to see the lights (only 3 though) flash solid green for about 3 seconds when replacing the battery back into the laptop.
One good thing did come out of this... As I was taking the keyboard out to find the computers serial # (I already filled out my form for the new battery), I was surprised to see an Airport card. Not that it would have surprised me too much in the first place except that it wasn't listed in the details/parts list when I bought the laptop. It was also listed that my laptop had a 10GB hard drive (while the picture on the website showed a 30GB one). The box it came in said 30GB as well, but I just dismissed that. I had went to see how much space I had left on the HD to see that it had 13.99GB and this is after any formatting, and the install of OS 10.2.8 including OS 9.2.2... So a few added bonuses to help make up for the fact that it is NOT is as good shape as I was expecting (or should be to even be sold as a refurb IMO), and the fact that the AC adapter is completely faulty.
I just hope that I can get a new AC Adapter soon, so that I can at least be able use my laptop with some kind of power until the new replacement battery shows up. This must be some kind of terrible joke. I get the laptop to be able to use it for a few hours and then have it be without ANY kind of power for posibly up to 2 months? I seem to have the worst luck with Macs, which makes it strange as I have never had any problems with all the PC's I have ever used (and I started using computers when I was 4) but I have now had an imac die (possibly the HD), an Apple studio monitor start flashing on the screen possibly due to connector problems, and now this (and all within 2 months). I am almost ready to just give up, but I have spent too much time and money on all this mac stuff (and all for my obsession with OS X) to do it just yet.
So please tell me macs aren't always this horrible, or else I will have to make up my own commercials where PCs are better because at least they turn on and boot up for more than 1 week (I think I had the imac working for about 5 days total before it would boot with errors).
Or some kind soul could also mail me a working AC Adapter that would work with my ibook (if you happen to have a spare), so I could get to do more on it other than changing it's settings... I now only have 40% battery life left. I don't think I should even turn it on again as the boot up alone would drain away too much precious juice...

  • I cant find my pdf/ibooks on computer after backing up my iPad (they are on my iPad).   Also, I'm having issues with my Ipad turning off about every 2 minutes so I want to restore it.  Dont want to lose my files from my iPad.

Actually I have 2 problems:  I cant find my pdf/ibooks on computer after backing up my iPad (they are on my iPad).  I looked under Ipad, I Books, PDFs, and it doesn't show them on the computer. How do I manually transfer these files?
Also, I'm having issues with my Ipad turning off about every 2 minutes, and I want to restore it.  I want to make sure all of the files are backed up before I restore.  My trouble started when I was trying to update my IPad but it was taking too long (internet was scetchy) so I powered off...now Im having problems.  I haven't tried to update again since this problem. Any suggestions?  Should I restore? Should I update to 7.0.6?  (currently 7.0.3).

  • Start up issue with Tiger G3 Ibook

I'm running a 800mhz (I think... I know it's no more than that) G3 with the latest update to Tiger (as far as the hubby remembers...) and he had to force quit Firefox (latest update as well), and then restart the comp. During restart, the gray screen with the apple logo would appear, then the screen would go black (but still on) and nothing. He'd have a mouse...but that's it.
We do not have the start up disk for Tiger because we bought the comp off of ebay, and the seller didn't provide the tiger disk. We've had the comp for about 6 months or so with no problems at all; it's been awesome.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi, Stephie. to Apple Discussions.
Try adjusting the angle of the display. Does that make the display come back for you?
If not, try booting into Safe Mode. This will take quite awhile longer than a normal startup because it does a file check and repair of the hard disk.
If this works you will see your normal desktop. Once completely started up in Safe Mode, try to restart normally, and go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. Click on the top hard drive icon in the left sidebar and note the S.M.A.R.T. status at the bottom right of the pane. What does it say? If it says "Verified," you should be in good shape, as far as the hard drive is concerned, at least.
Select the named boot volume in the left sidebar, ("Macintosh HD" unless you've renamed it). What is the hard drive capacity and how much space remains available on it? Repair permissions on it.
See if you are able to do a little hard drive maintenance to help things out.
If this doesn't work, you are probably going to have to buy the retail version of Tiger in order to maintain the hard drive. Did the seller include the original system discs that came with the iBook when it was new?

  • Please help me...major issues with authorized repair center

I could really use the advice of those more "techie" than myself. About a month ago, my iBook G4 crashed on me. I brought it to an authorized repair center and they replaced the hard drive for $270. When I got it home, it seemed to be acting funny - freezing, slower, etc. I noticed that About this Mac under the Apple menu said it had 128 MB of memory, yet when I brought it into the repair center it had 256 MB. Yet when I installed an extra memory card I had laying around it said 600-something (I forget), which is impossible, because my Mac can only hold 512 MB total. Anyway, very long story short, I've brought it back once to complain that my computer wasn't preforming the way it used to. I was told two things. One, it's because I'm running Tiger on an old machine (bullsh*t, I ran Tiger since July with NO problems). Second, they said my computer is screwy because I'm running 10.4.4, which is known for having bugs. Is this true? The same day they told me there was "nothing wrong with your iBook, sorry" it crashed again, and I can't get it to start! I've made an appointment with the owner of the repair shop, and I'd like to be able to defend myself because I think they screwed up. I'd like them to fix it for free, or refund my money and get the HD back. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated. Sorry this is so long, I love my Mac
PS...I got it to start for about 3 minutes lastnight before it crashed again. I cannot open the Finder, and anything on the Dock that I try to click on shows a large grey question mark. What's that mean?

Did you inform the repair center that your RAM reported had dropped? Tiger I would not run on anything less than 512 MB of RAM anyway. I've read stories that repair centers frequently remove any third party RAM you might have installed, and this may be another one such case.
The gray question mark means the files have basically relocated themselves to someplace the system can't find them. If you didn't move anything, it is possible the directory got munged. To repair the directory, first make sure your data is backed up, and then follow these instructions:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
If that indicates something it can't fix, get Alsoft Disk Warrior 3.0.3.
It is possible the RAM you have in there is bad, and that may be why you are detecting less RAM too. RAM can go bad at anytime. So can the memory slot itself go bad. And frequently the issues which make it go bad are undetectable by any hardware test. Though if a hardware test detects an issue with RAM, that's believable.

  • ITunes and iPhone 4 sync issues with Windows 7 64 bit

I am getting several errors with sync'ing iTunes to my iPhone on windows7 64bit. I reinstalled iTunes, I did a repair on iTunes, even tried a RESTORE on iPhone, but it gives me so many errors one after another after another.
    1. Some of the items were NOT copied to iPhone "iPhone" because one ore more errors occured.
    2. Attempting to copy to the disk "iPhone" failed. An internal device error occured.
    3. The iPhone "iPhone" can NOT be synced. An unknown error occured (0xE8004006).
    4. The iPhone "iPhone" can not be synced. The required file can not be found.
    5. The iPhone "iPhone" can not be synced. A duplicate filename was specified.
    6. The iPhone "iPhone" can not be synced. An internal device error occured.
These errors keep appearing one after the other.
I have fully uninstalled iTunes and ALL Apple programs from my PC, rebooted, disabled antivirus/firewall software, etc.
I have tried changing time zones.
I have created a new user account on same laptop and still have same issues with iTunes.
Restore fails with error "Unable to read file or file is corrupt".
Yet iTunes works fine on a 32bit operating system of Windows 7.
The problem is that I upgraded my laptop and the new laptop is Win7 64bit. I have ALL the newest drivers, and I checked to ensure it was not a BIOS or CHIPSET driver causing issues. All windows updates are up to date and current.
I have been trying for over a week with every piece of trouble shooting I can find to make this work.
Any help or further information would be VERY GREATLY APPRECIATED.
    Thanks in Advance

I too am having the exact same issues on the same laptop! I spent an hour last night with "supervisor" in tech support who didn't solve my problem but did close the ticket (210757099 for any Apple people that might read this). Thanks a lot Ben!
I have seven ipod/iphone/ipad devices so I am very familiar with how to sync. In the last few weeks, version 10.2 of iTunes (I'm up to 10.2.1.1) has gotten less and less reliable in successfully sync'ing to the devices. It started out with my 3GS, but my iPhone 4 was fine. Then I got an iPad2 and now NOTHING will sync properly. Every time I plug one in (or press the sync button) it wants to do a restore from the backup made the last time it sync'd. It does that, reboots the device and sync's.
    I've gotten a ton of errors, here's a sample.
iBooks couldn't be installed on my iPhone unknown error 0xE800000C
Textie couldn't be installed on my iPhone, unknown error 0xE8000013
"failed required file not found" - This is one of my favorite error messages. It demonstrates how Apple is becoming like Microsoft. It is 100% accurate and totally useless. It would be helpful if it told me the NAME of the file that was not found...
    unknown error 0xE8004006
"duplicate file found" - Again, in true Microsoft form, it didn't tell me the NAME of the file that was duplicated.
I tried everything discussed in the following thread but it did not work.

Stopping the enhanced USB controller didn't work. Mine is the Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller (version 9.1.1.1020).
A few days ago I got hundreds of errors in a sync. When it completed, a dialogbox came up asking if I wanted to send this crash report to Apple, I said yes. So, crash reports are now automatically being sent. You can see evidence of this in the %appdata%\Apple Computer\Logs directory.
This section of the log looked interesting because it says it couldn't connect to USB mux port 32498

  • I am still having issues with the TOC. I finally got several chapters and sections to show different pictures in the TOC, but have spent hours trying to figure out how to repeat it. This should be so simple. Is there an update? Please help us Apple.

I am still having issues with the TOC pictures. I got several chapter/section photos to show up, but can't seem to repeat this success. It is some mystery that happened during a time that I had practically given up. This should be such a simple thing. Drag and place a picture into the placeholder and it shows up in the TOC....right? Help, help help! want to get this thing done and it's taken two days of work just get some of the photos to show up. I am going to have to publish this ibook with no photos in several sections.....why can't this be simple? I have even had someone else spend hours trying to figure this out. This software is such a GREAT idea....come on...help with this little part of it.

I had the same problem myself. I got to the point where I couldn't replace the photo, of a new chapter, in the TOC. What I did was to duplicate an existing chapter that was working and was able to replace it's TOC's photo. I also found that if you try different areas of the photo you can sometimes get it to replace correctly. For example, instead of dragging the new photo to the middle of an existing photo, try dragging it to the right top corner.

  • Issues with Images when used w/ Caption Widget & Book File Size Q

    Hi Everyone,
I was having issues with images not showing up and determined it was the caption widget causing the issue. I now have one of two issues happening consistently. Either the image does not show at all or just the caption box with bkgd gray and caption text shows, but without the image.
    Anyone else have this issue?
Ay ideas would be greatly appreciated. I wasw just about finished with this project when this started!
Also, the size of the book is considerably larger than I realized. It is 81 mb. . . How does this compare to any of your books?
    THANKS SO MUCH!
    Belinda

    Belinda,
I can't speak to your main issue, as I cannot recreate the problem over here.
As a guess, have you checked to make sure you're not running out of harddrive space? iBA can consume space quickly, and behaves oddly when it begins to run out of room.
But as far as filesize goes, I can only wish for an 81 MB book. Mine is currently a little over 2 GB and growing. Tonight I had to split it into 2 volumes just so iBooks Author can run at a reasonable pace. I was getting tired of waiting 1-2 minutes after dragging a video around on the page before I could get control of the program again.
You should note that Apple is expecting large filesizes for this new Multi-Touch format. The docs on iTunesConnect say the largest allowed upload size for a book is 16GB 2BG (see link below)

  • Disapointed with my MacBook ... happier with my iBook.

    Hi all,
So .... maybe the subject is a bit of a stretch. I love the form factor of the Macbook, as well as the speed. This thing screams .... 2.0ghz, 2gig ram, 7200rpm drive ... you wouldn't expect anything less.
    Current disapointments:
    1. The WHINE ... I know its not a big deal under normal circumstances, but try lying in bed working on something while your wife is trying to sleep ... the whine is anoying ... and for $2900 plus tax, you really don't expect that. I know you can run some stuff in the background to get rid of it (photobooth etc), but then you really don't have much battery life.
    2. Battery life. My 800mhz G4 ibook has better battery life. Nuf said !!
    3. Some weird issues with my airport card .... simply will not autoconnect to my prefered network ... regardless of what I try.
    4. L key is not reliable. Misses one out of every four tries.
    5. As a windows convert, I feel doubly handi capped. Not only are there less programs available, but now I'm sitting here waiting for universal apps to come out ..... I guess thats what I get for being a 1st gen adopter.
Anyway ... if anybody has any suggestions for items 1 or 3, that would be great. Items 2, 4, and 5 are other issues all together.
All in all, I feel like my money would have been better off in the bank for six months while apple fixed their issues.
    Blue

I received my MacBook Pro in early March and soon discovered the annoying inverter whine and a left fan that wouldn't shut off. I assume the unit also had the processor whine, but I was unable to tell because the inverter noise was sooo overpowering. I took it to the Portland Pioneer Place Apple Store and Joseph (the Genius) told me the computer was defective. Twenty some days later I'm still waiting for a new replacement unit to arrive (Apple wouldn't replace it straight-up at the store because I bought it through a reseller, so I dealt with the customer relations department, politely demanding that Apple send me a new unit, which they did).
Ever since early March I've been paying attention to the various discussion boards and have concluded that a software update will NOT prove to be an effective solution for the processor whine. I don't know where it all started, but it seems that everyone is banking on Apple to release a software update to fix a hardware related problem. If anything, Apple will release an update that keeps the processor cores running at all times- enough to eliminate the whine. Such a patch will only unnecessarily consume processor power, slowing the machine down, consuming extra battery power, and making the unit run hotter.
So, to all you MacBook Pro owners who can't operate your machine in a quiet room, you need to contact Apple and DEMAND that Apple remedy the situation. Further, you need to contact all your favorite mac/non mac sites and make this problem more known, encouraging site owners and bloggers to post stories about the whine. Without negative press, Apple will likely do nothing more than releasing a band-aid of a softare update for a hardware problem.
    That's my two cents.

  • Are there any displays compatible with 14" iBook G4???

I've been doing a lot of video editing etc. on my computer for a while now and school work is piling up. I'm planning on getting an iMac next summer but I would really like to be able to use my ibook as a desktop computer. From what I have read none of the displays that apple currently sells are compatible with ibooks because of the graphics card or something. I found out though that you can have a display connected and use both screens. But is there a way that you can have your computer running and closed with an external display to use the computer like on all the new macbooks? I don't need it to be a apple monitor or anything i just need to know if there is any solution..

as a guess, any LCD with VGA input supposed to work thru a little VGA adapter that comes with the iBook.
you could probably work with the display lowered if there is something (thin plastic etc) is placed between the base and the display, sleep is activated by the magnetic switch in the display and the magnet at the base
working with the display lowered could cause heat issues probably, maybe not a good idea

  • Issues with updating Apple apps with app store

I have begun to have issues with (all?) Apple apps and  App store. including not updating after download, and repeat downloading. Two examples:
I had Pages 5.0.1. 3 days ago I used the app store to download Pages 5.1. This downloaded OK (watched the volume of data on Net Monitor). Although my Pages works OK it remains on 5.0.1, although the App Store shows that 5.1 has been “installed in the last 30 days”, and does not offer any further update. Same scenario for Numbers 3.0.1 and 3.1.
    on the other hand
Keynote, iMovie and iPhoto won’t even open at all now, if I try to open them I am directed immediately to Apple sign-in in the App Store. Keynote and iMovie show updates available, but not iPhoto. I signed in when I tried just now opening iPhoto, and it immediately starting downloading the software again. I think my iPhoto was 9.5.1, downloaded in December and working fine since then.
I have access only to limited slow expensive broadband. This is taking my whole monthly allowance.
Is there some updating controlling software or file on the HD that could be corrupted?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Have been to Library, and looked in Receipts/InstallHistory.plist
This plist confirms that on 27 Jan App Store downloaded Pages version 5.0.1 again (actually for the third time it appears), although it was supposed to be downloading version 5.1. My App Store/Updates page says version 5.1 was installed (which it isn’t). Same issue for Numbers.
The plist also confirms that the App Store forced me to download the same version of iPhoto in December and Today.
Keynote and iMovie (not one of the iWork) won't open until I download again, but do not have the internet capacity to redownload these large files again and again.
So far iTunes, Aperture and iBook do not seem to be affected. By the way have done simple things like restart, repair permissions etc...
Are there some files/applications that control the downloading of new versions that might be malfunctioning?

  • Possible internal modem problem with older iBook (Mac OS X 10.3.8)

I have an older iBook - from year 2000 or 2001. So its airport card is so old it's stopped reliably working & I don't know where I could find a replacement. In the meantime I want to get internet connection on it so I've tried plugging a phone cord from the wall outlet (that I always use succesfully for my desktop PC) into the laptop and typing in the phone #, account name and password of my desktop's internet account under "internal modem." BUT I keep getting a busy signal over & over when I dial up. I called my ISP & they thought it's a problem with my laptop's modem. I called Apple & they thought it's an issue with the ISP. Help?

    Hi,
So its airport card is so old it's stopped reliably working & I don't know where I could find a replacement.
If you have been using an internal wireless network, the router (base station) should (normally) allow you to connect via an Ethernet cable from the corresponding port in the iBook as well.
BUT I keep getting a busy signal over & over when I dial up
Without knowing any details, this seems to indicate that the modem does work. Wrong number/own number? Have you checked that everything has been entered correctly according to the instructions from the ISP?
Could KB article # 106748 possibly be of any help here?
