2 iTunes problems Post Mac Book HD Failure

Recently I had a HD problem on my Mac Book that is now resolved
As far as iTunes goes I want to be able to get at my purchased music and decide what I want to download
However I'm finding 2 problems with this
1 - When I go into Purchased music I only see a recent list of album covers
Nowhere do I see an option to see all the album covers which would be far more user friendly
On the left hand side there is a 'list' of purchases but this is extremely unuser friendly as many albums have more than one artist and therefore it would take a lot of work to get one album in alot of cases
What I'm sure should exist is a complete list of album covers (just like there is a complete list of films in another section) so that you can quick and easy see what you have and what you want to get form the itunes cloud
Any help on how to get that?
2 - Secondly, I have through the sidebar searched for an album to inly find it (in some cases only some of the tracks) but NONE of them can be downloaded because that purchase no longer exists in the iTunes store
Surely that's wrong beyond belief!
Anyone ever experienced that and what they did to solve?

Hi,
Have a read at this Download past purchases. It may be that you iTunes library shows track information but is no longer creating a link to the original file which is no longer there because of the hard drive failure. You will need to delete the tracks then go through the process described.
Another thing to consider is that you go to preference > store and tick show iTunes purchases in the cloud
Again you may need to delete original link - don't select remove from cloud.
Another alternative is to create an alternative library iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
Do you have a back up of your music?

    For what it's worth ...
    Apple's policy is clear: iTS purchases can be downloaded only once. It is your responsibility to make back-ups . (For most people, this will involve either CD's/DVD's or an external drive .)
    That being said, at their discretion they have made one-time exceptions to this policy. You can ask for an exception by submitting the form on this page:

    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
    Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

    There is a OneClickdigital ereader available in the App Store. Download that to your iPod to read pdfs and books from the library. And you might need to download the OneClickdigital eaudio player to listen to audiobooks from the library. Once both are downloaded sync you iPod again to transfer them.

    You can't sync it to two computers.
    But you can plug it into a second computer and add things or take things out of apps (under the app tab, scroll down).
    Also you can take photos off on a second computer.
    There are a few things you can do on a second computer.
    But not a sync.

    You cannot read books off of iTunes. You can probably download a .pdf from the internet and read it off of preview. But you can't read books on iTunes.

    I wish to copy my itunes music, that is on my mac book pro(osx10.5.4), to an external hard drive and play it on my work pc (win xp- ituns 7).of course without loosing my original folder on the mac. can I do it? how? I tried the consolidate option on my mac and the music was copied to the HD but I cant get the win itunes to recognise it even after changing the music folder in it to the external drive.

    Windows machines can't access drives formatted in Mac style. This is probably your problem. If the external was formatted to FAT32 then the windows machine could access the drive.

    recently i have, for me serious, problems with my mac book pro (os x 10.5.8).
    discovered that it runs slower and somewhat unstable, i attempted housekeeping and burned large files on cd. furthermore i deleted some files i do not use to trash from 'application'
    now once i turn on straight i get a garbled screen with tool bar on top.
    if i start with installation disk 1, i get to the complete start-up and is operational.
    upon opening the 'dock' to open safari for example - comuter freezes for a few minutes with spinning rainbow wheel.
    what might be the problem?
    did run
    - safe start-up - no change
    - disk utility - all ok
    - hardware test - all ok
    - extended hadrware test - did not work
    - activity monitor - cpu - user 16%, sstem 4%, indle 87%
                              - system memory (2 gb) - free 850 mb, wired 172 mb, active 970 mb, inactive 51 mb
                              - disk usage (185 gb) - 135 gb used - 50 gb free
    what else can i do? anone encountered similar?

    You did not follow my post.
    Insert your OS installer disk and reboot while holding down the c key. Select Utilities>Disk Utilities. Then run Repair Disk on your ard drive.

    Note the article has one section that has not been updated to reflect a change in Mavericks. In step 3, the  Show" window is gone. To select "All Processes" as required, use Activity Monitor's view menu:
    Once set according to the instructions, tell us if Activity Monitor any processes are using more than about 10 percent of the CPU cycles.
    NOTE: This won't tell you much if you do it right after a restart. Use the computer normal for a half-day or so after a restart. That gives time for any bad actors to start working.

    I just bought a new mac book pro. it has just been 2 days when I started getting a message saying that I need to restart my computer. My computer will just hang (and a dim light on the screen will appear with the message). The message is in the middle of the screen (in diffirent languages). Since i can not do anything ( i can't cancel the message, etc.), I would restart my computer. It usually happens when I'm connected to the internet (wi-fi). But one time, it happend even if I wasn't connected to the internet. Why is this happening? Is there something wrong with my new mac book pro?

    don't bother reinstalling yet. It could be a hardware problem with the logic board. Try this:
    Open up your hard drive and navigate to the following location:
    Macintosh HD -> Library -> Logs
    Find the 'panic.log' file and double click on it. It will open up in the 'Console' application. Look carefully though all of the text and see if you can locate a line similar to the following:
    "panic(cpu 1 caller 0x00351082): mbuf address out of range 0x750208"
    If you see this line, phone Apple and tell them that you've been told by an Apple engineer that your machine could possibly require a logic board replacement. Let them go through their usual checks with you but insist that they allow you to send them your panic.log via email. By looking at the log they will instantly be able to tell you whether or not your board needs replacing (under warranty, of course).
