I incidendently deleted recovery disc from my laptop ........can you help me to find recovery disc for my laptop

    Mahmud,
    Welcome to the Forum.
The Recovery Partition on your notebook is not needed IF you did make the suggested Recovery Discs when your system was first installed, or at any later time.
If you did not make Recovery Discs,
then see this docment for help in obtaining Recovery Discs from HP:
Envy 17-2101 -- Looking for Recovery Discs
IF HP does not have the Discs you seek,
then see this link for obtaining the Recovery Discs:
    Computer Surgeons HP Recovery Center
IF you cannot purchase the discs (or do not wish to do so),
AND you do have your 25 character product key,
then you can download and burn a new Windows 7 disc.

  • Pravilion dv7 series hard drive replaced after recovery disc fail

I tried to use the recovery portion of my hard drive when my Pavilion dv7-4173 US laptop failed to operate.  After trying the recovery portion of the hard drive several times I got a error message saying the bootmgr was missing. I Tried using  the Recovery disks I had made at the store I purchased the computer before taking it home and they failed. They worked  up to 32% and then stopped.  I took the laptop and the Recovery discs (6 discs)  to another retail store's tech department. After several days I was told the Recovery Disc where no good/damaged. When I contacted the purchased store I was told  I needed to bring in the laptop and recovery discs. They replaced the hard drive, saying that was the problem, but did not partition it. They decided to up graded the OS system from Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit., but did not try the Recovery Discs. Can I use the Recovery Disc they made me, if the are good, to restore the laptop back to factory fresh?  I know it will place Windows 7 Home OS system back on the computer, but I'd like all the programs back that came with computer. Will I be able to upgrade the OS to Professional? I have the Windows 7 Professional disc.  If my recovery disc will not work, can I use  the Recovery Disc, only 2 discs as opposed to 6, that I can purchase from HP and then upgrade to Professional?

Hello skip61.  I want to make sure I understand.  A shop replaced the hard drive for you and installed Windows 7 Profession 64-bit in the process.  They also replaced your bad recovery media with a new set of Windows 7 Profession recovery discs.  is this correct?
If you want the notebook to revert back to the factory defaults you will need a set of discs from HP directly.  This will properly partition the hard drive and set the notebook back up with Windows 7 Home and the software that came with the notebook.
You can upgrade your version of Windows 7 at any time you'd like.  This is a feature built into Windows itself.  So check out this Microsoft article on how to update.
To order a set of recovery discs from HP just give them a call.  The number is 1-800-474-6836 for the US/Canada.  If you're outside of this area check this site to get your region's contact information.
I hope this is helpful; have a great weekend!

now i want to get back my laptop with original factory settings ..as i tryed to recovery my laptop with recovery disc but i can't do it ...??
my windows key below the laptop label has been gone ..how do i get back of my original key of windows 7?

    Dear Customer,
Welcome and Thank you for posting your query on HP Support Forum
This is to inform you that the product key information will be encrypted in the BIOS of your Notebook
Note: No more product key stickers
However on some notebook models product key information will  not be stored anywhere within HP or Microsoft and
on some notebook models product key is located on COA (Certificate of Authenticity). COA is a sticker which is sticked beneath your notebook. It looks like something that is shown in the following web link:
     http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00882033&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_...
    Tip Information:
    01. You don't need the product key information if you are using the HP Recovery Discs for your Notebook.
    02. The sticker is a bad design and print that why now they put inside the battery chamber
    03. For Windows 8 Operating System, the product key information will be put in the BIOS

  • Satellite L500 did not ask for Recovery Disc 2

    Hello,
I have just formatted my laptop using Recovery Disc 1. On forums, it says after Disc 1, the menu will ask for Disc 2. But it never asked for Disc 2. Should I have inserted it right after it asked me to eject Disc 1?
I am writing this now on my newly set up Win 7. Everything seems fine but I wonder whether the lack of Disc 2 will cause any problem. Is there any way to boot my laptop also using the second disc?
    Thanks!

The second disk will be created only if the space on the first disk would not be enough! So the amount of recovery disk depends on the size of the image file.
If your notebook works properly, I would not be afraid about the 2nd missing disk :)

When I bought this computer, i tried to burn the recovery DVD's, but they never burned and then I forgot about calling HP.
By this time I was too sick to call and this year (2014 / 2015) is the first time in three - four years that I feel more like my normal self.
What happened?  Right before Christmas 2014, I downloaded a CD for a present and now my hard drive is badly corrupted or has totally crashed (maybe loosing all my pictures and documents).
I have the pay monthly HP Smartfriend service.  HP has worked by remote on this computer several times, trying to help me get it back running properly. You may be able to access their records to get information needed to help me .
Now, the computer will NOT move pass the HP Splashscreen with clicking noise!

I want to at least TRY to get this computer restored and running for two more years!
I am willing to spend few dollars ($50.00 - $75.00) to replace this harddrive and with the recovery media than to spend several hundred dollars at this time!
I have NEW email address and cellphone number, but did not want to post it here, public.
I don't know how to change it in this forum, but I will try to figure it out so you can contact me and mail this to me right away!

  • I have an HP Pavilion g6 laptop, and am trying to set up my recovery discs. I get an error message

I have an HP Pavilion g6 laptop, and am trying to set up my recovery discs.  I get an error message that states "inserted media not supported".  I am using CD-R Music discs.  Is the problem "Music" ?  Will it not recognize a blank music disc?

    Hi,
Yes, it is the discs that are the problem - you will need to use good quality DVD+R or DVD-R discs.  See the section under the sub-heading 'Create a set of operating system Recovery Discs' on the link below.

  • Can I use a recovery disc of a differnt serial number in my laptop?

I had a issue with the recovery disc which I got from HP, the first disc stops at 24% and further it does nothing. So I have ordered another recovery disc, when I ordered by mistake I have entered my product number correctly but entered serial number (wrong#) 2CXXXXXXRE instead of (correct #) 2CXXXXXXRF and booked the recovery disc. I dont have an option to cancel the order in the site. So can I use this recovery DVD to recover my laptop?
    Laptop Model: HP Pavilion dv6

  • Finding a HP laptop recovery disc

My hard drive crashed and I don't have an operating system disc.
I bought a new hard drive but have not installed it---I was told
by a friend I need to find and get an operating system disc.
Can you help me find one?

If you never made your Recovery Disc set-you may be able to order from HP depending on how old your laptop is. HP still carries most Windows 7 discs and of course Windows 8.
US/Canada models can usually order from the Support page. Or you can phone HP Support. If you live in the US, contact HP Here. If you live in another part of the world, start here>>Contact HP
In future requests for help it usually speeds thing up if we have your Model & Product Number.

  • HELP!!!!!! Need to create recovery disc for hdx laptop in Vista

I have been told by HP that I can create a recovery disc right from my computer.  Really ...... please someone tell me where and how.  Right now there is nothing wrong with my PC but I have been stupid and forgot to create it previously.
As an added note, so I can vent, my service pak ran out last month, which HP did not remind me of with an email like they alwasy do, and the guy I spoke to was no help with that.  He said there was nothing I could purchase now.  Also, I was told by more than one person that I had lifetime chat support online ...... well that's a lie too I found out.  So, they will not help me at all now!!!!!!!!!  The guy also told me the reason I did not probably get an email was becasue the support for this laptop ended in August and it will become obsolete this coming August.  That is probably the reason he said.  Wow why did I buy a HP computer and not a Dell.  When I had my Dell I called like more than 10 years after buying the computer and received phone based technical help on it still and no I did not have an extended warranty at the time.  They gave lifetime technical assistant via phone.  Looks like I may have to switch back.  Sorry HP but my experience has been less than good.

This document should help with the how to part of making the recovery disks.
I have raised your post to the appropriate team for review. Someone should contact you via private message within two days.

  • Hi , I own a hp pavilion dv6 6050se laptop bought in UAE during 2011, I have lost the recovery discs

Hi , I own a hp pavilion dv6 6050se laptop bought in UAE during 2011, I have lost the recovery discs.
How do i get a copy of recovery discs??

    Hi,
I don't see any link on your Product Page to order a replacement set of Recovery Discs, but it's always worth calling HP directly and see if you can order them this way.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
If you are unable to order these discs from HP, here's an alternative option you could try.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.
    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-windows-7-by-phone.aspx
Any additional drivers and software you may need can be found Here.

  • Recovery disc(s) for Satellite A135-2266 - help? for laptop donation to kenya orphanage

    Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me here, or maybe tell me how to do this myself? I have a Satellite A135-2266 that needs to have the HD replaced. This computer, if I can get the recovery discs, will be donated to an orphanage in Kenya that our church supports.  I will replace the HD myself, but I need the recovery discs (this was my son's laptop - he's in the navy and it died on him after only 6 mos, but he was not able to get it to land in time for warranty - and now he cannot locate the recovery disc.  This is my plea for help. If anyone has recovery discs for this model, is there any chance they could copy them for me - I'd pay for the discs and shipping, so that I can fix it and get it to the orphanage?  HELP? if anyone has any other suggestions, I'm all ears.  I will be calling Toshiba to see if they can help me out, but I have faith in the users here to maybe be my salvation.
    Many thanks!

"DVD recovery media can be ordered from Toshiba Customer Service at 1-800-457-7777.  There is no charge for the software itself, and as of 11/30/09 the shipping and handling charges for delivery of recovery media in the US is $24.95." Quote from Jim.
