2 load balancing process in one router ?

Dear,
Please I have case and I want your help for this case
Our enterprise company has 7 modems (adsl+sdsl)
we want to reach internet access continuty so we will do load balancing betwen this modems by router support feature of load balance
when I searched about this router I found multi wan router CISC0 RV 016
that support up to 7 modems load balanced together
but in reality I want to load balance between the first 3 modems to act as one modem to some users
and load balance between the other 4 modems to act as one modems for other users
(I mean I want one router act as 2 routers independent of each other each one do load balancing process)
So I want router support minmum 2 loadbalancing process
If CISCO RV 016 support this feature please tell me how?
and if not, please give me examples to another CISCO routers support this feature
I appreciate your reply
Thanks in advance

Hi,
you can load-balance per IP prefix  with PBR( not available on RV016 I think) but I'm not sure you can use multiple interfaces for a particular prefix with this method. I'll try to lab it up this evening and let you know.

  • Load balancing using multiple default routes

    Hi Guys,
I just want to ask does creating multiple default routes on my router provides load-balancing on my WAN side? As far as i know, for example if I have two default routes on my router and let say I have two users connecting to the internet, the first one might go to the first WAN link while the second user might go to the second WAN link.
    Thank you so much
    Rex

there are the difference between, load balancing and load sharing..which we need to understand.
load sharing means you have 2 users, user A and User B, user A wants to use ISP1 and user B wants to use ISP2. this is called load sharing. and can be achieved via PBR (Policy based routing).
we should not try to use load balancing for Internet traffic with 2 different ISPs.

    Hello,
I have two MPLS line and i want load balancing with the help of CISCO router 881. is it necessary that i require two router on both location.? if one location have firewall and one location have cisco router 881 then can i do a load balancing or i require two router each on both location ? What are the basic requirement that i need.

An 881 should be able to load share across multiple ports.  Many routing protocol support ECMP, including BGP, but you need "special" hidden/secret commands to enable.  EIGRP also supports unequal cost load sharing.
If an 881 supports OER or PfR, those too will do unequal load sharing, dynamically.

  • LRT224 Load Balancing with only one ISP

I found that the LRT224 Load Balancing really increased performance on my network with a single Internet Service Provider.
Also if your ISP doesn't limit the number of Public IP Addresses your ISP Device can provide to one. You can get two Public IP Address for additional port forwarding and other uses.

In my case I noticed an immediate improvement in overall performance. When I do a "speedtest.net" test the speeds are always at the maximum throughput even with other heavy users on the internet. Which wasn't the case before. I suspect that the Dual WAN connections are doubling the amount of available full speed connections due to the load balancing.
It's interesting to watch the ethernet port lights on the ISP Modem blinking like mad as the LRT224 pumps data through the two ethernet ports.

  • Load balancing with only one Real Server on CSM

Other than create a VSERVER with only one real server in it - is there a way of load balancing when you have only one real server now and may be additional servers to be added later?

the only way is to use the vserver.

  • Call to the load-balanced SO not through router

    Hi all
This in fact not correct - if you make a call to the load-balanced SO,
from within that SO it will not go through the router. You can work around
    it quite easily
with a simple Forwarding Dispatcher (design pattern).
Whenever you make a call to your load-balanced SO,
    it
would go through the router. That is what I
understand. No matter you make the call from inside
    or outside the SO.

  • Cisco SA 520W set up for load balancing but traffic not routing properly?

Forgive me cause my networking skills are a bit rusty. So we have an SA520W that sits in-between both of our ISP connections. One connection is 4 bonded T-1s and the other is a shared 50/20. I have configured the SA520W with the optional port set to load balancing. I set the protocol bindings to be HTTP and HTTPS to go over the optional WAN which is the 50/20 yet when I do speedtests I am getting very mixed results. Sometimes it reflects that I am on the 50/20 and other times I just get 5 down and 5 up. and then other times it is a mix between the two, like 5 down 15 up.
It is just weird. I don't understand am I missing some other protocols I need to bind other than HTTP and HTTPS? It isn't just speed tests either I have noticed some weird web page loading issues as well. You can go to a page and it loads really fast and then later on...

    Hi accidentexchange,
Did you fail to log in when accessing the SA 520W thru both HTTP and HTTPS?

  • GSS load balancing ? Only one GSS seems to answer

    Hi,
We have configured two GSSs but only one of them seems to respond to DNS requests, I see this via the answer hit counts.
The box that answers is NOT the GSSM Primary. I was under the impression that both boxes could/would respond or is this not true.
Any facts would be appreciated. Cheers.
    Mike

The RoundRobin balancing will not be a perfect distribution if you use the AP-KAL mechanism for your keepalive. This is because when the load on the answers changes, the "order" is sorted, and the top of the sorted list is used for the next answer even though the sorted order is of no interest in a roundrobin balance. To get a perfect roundrobin balance, use a different keepalive.

  • Help for ACE load balancing process

    Hi All,
how servers behind ACE can access a VIP on the unit/context

Since you are having issues with ACE, Have you considered using Citrix Netscaler with Cisco RISE Integration. I wanted to mention this new feature Automated Policy based Routing(APBR) and RISE(Remote Integrated Service Engine)  that is available on Citrix NetScaler which might ease you pain points in configuring services and provides signification OPEX and CAPEX savings when used with a Nexus Series Switches like Nexus 7000.
Here are some details and links
RISE (Remote Integrated Services Engine) is an innovative, industry-first architecture conceived by the Nexus Services engineering team to seamlessly integrate Nexus switches with appliances offering L2/L3/L4-L7 services. RISE makes the service appliance look like a line card in the Nexus 7K series. This integration allows any appliance to take advantage of the benefits of an in-chassis module such as increased application performance, high application availability, and data center consolidation.

  • Load Balancing on 837 router

    HI Prof,
I've two cisco 837 router with cisco IOS 12.3 currently. I would like to configure load balancing on both the router, have tried to configure GLBP but it show me that the hardware not supported.
Is there any other protocol or technology to achieve my desire?
    Thank and Advice.

What are your requirements. Do you have multiple segments to support? Are you only looking for load-balancing or do you have a high availibility requirement?
In that case you can use multiple HSRP groups for instance.
Do both 837 routers have a separate xDSL connection?
Are you using NAT to translate between private and public address pools?
There is more than one solution to achieve load-balancing. Please answer the above questions and if possible draw a simple diagram of your desired topology.

  • Load Balancing b/w two cisco router

    Hello Friends,
Please advise me,We are using two Cisco Routers with F5 Load balancer,
Router A (Cisco 2811) has one ISP configured
Router B (Cisco 3825) has the other ISP configured
ISP on Router A has 5 Mbps Bandwidth
ISP on Router B has 10 Mbps Bandwidth
My Doubt is if the load balancer is down, how to utilize the ISP (or) How to divert the connection ?
Here i have attached my N/w diagram for ur reference..........
    Can someone solve my question.............please
    Thank you.

    Hi Mohamed,
With default routing in use you can just configure one default route on each router   But it would only do load sharing not load balancing.
PFR(performance routing) is a better solution but have never tried with two diffferent router series. Also need to validate if the router series you are using supports PFR.

  • Performance Routing (PfR) with single router, dual ISP and load balancing

It looks like PfR can do this but I have only found information about this feature which will start using ISP2 once ISP1 reaches 75% usage. But this is not load balancing.
Can we accomplish load balancing utilizing a single router with dual ISPs using this PfR feature?
Or do we have to use another feature?
    thank you in advance

I'm rusty using OER/PfR, but I recall it could load balance two links on same router.  The issue, I also recall, if doing BGP, OER/PfR has to detect a load imbalance, and there's a certain difference allowance, and OER/PfR takes some time to decide, so depending on actual traffic, it might not be obvious it's working.  If doing BGP, there's a hidden command (which I don't recall is) that will load balance the two links on the same router; then you use OER/PfR to dynamically refine the balance load.

  • Web Proxy Server Load Balancing

I deployed Sun Jave Web Proxy Server 4.0 as a Reverse Proxy. I would also like to use it as a load balancer. As per the instructions, I configured the obj.conf file as shown below
    Route fn="set-origin-server" server="https://xx.xx.xx.xx" server="https:yy.yy.yy.yy" sticky-cookie="JSESSIONID" sticky-param="jsessionid" route-hdr="Proxy-jroute" route-cookie="JROUTE" rewrite-host="true" rewrite-location="true" rewrite-content-location="true"
But, it is not doing load balancing. It always sends to the first server (xx.xx.xx.xx). I guess that is because I used mapping as follows:
    NameTrans fn="reverse-map" from="https:xx.xx.xx.xx" to="https://server.net" rewrite-location="true" rewrite-content-location="true"
    NameTrans fn="redirect" from="http://server" url="https://xx.xx.xx.xx"
    NameTrans fn="map" from="https://server" to="https://xx.xx.xx.xx" rewrite-host="true" name="pa-server-farm1" NameTrans fn="map" from="/" to="https://xx.xx.xx.xx" rewrite-host="true" name="pa-server-farm1"PathCheck fn="url-check"ObjectType fn="block-ip"
    ObjectType fn="cache-enable" cache-auth="1" cache-https="1" query-maxlen="0" min-size="0" Service fn="proxy-retrieve"
I don't understand how routing and mapping work togother. Any help in this regard is appreciated.

    Motor,
the following is from the Web Proxy Sever Administration guide. Please, check the last paragraph for the explanation. Any how, the problem is simple. I am using the Proxy Server as the Reverse proxy. And at the same time, I would like to use two origin servers (for load balancing) instead of one. How do I make both load balancing and reverse proxy functions work together?
    Thanks
To Create Regular or Reverse Mapping
Access the Server Manager, and click the URLs tab.
    Click the Create Mapping link.
The Create Mapping page is displayed.
In the page that appears, provide the source prefix and source destination for the regular mapping,
    for example,
    Source prefix: http://proxy.site.com
    Source destination: http://http.site.com/
    Click OK.
Return to the page and create the reverse mapping, for example,
    Reverse mapping:
    Source prefix: http://http.site.com/
    Source destination: http://proxy.site.com/
To make the change, click OK.
Once you click the OK button, the proxy server adds one or more additional mappings. To see the mappings, click the lView/Edit Mappings link. Additional mappings would be in the following format:
    from: /
    to: http://http.site.com/
These additional automatic mappings are for users who connect to the reverse proxy as a normal server. The first mapping is to catch users connecting to the reverse proxy as a regular proxy. The / mapping is added only if the user doesn't change the contents of the Map Source Prefix text box provided automatically by the Administration GUI. Depending on the setup, usually the second mapping is the only one required, but the extra mapping does not cause problems in the proxy.

  • Load balancing between two routers

I have two routers connected through the LAN connection. The first one is using as routing protocol EIGRP, the other one is part of the managed service and I do not have access to it. I would like to make a load balancing between the two of them by redistributing the static routes in EIGRP. When I tried this, I am loosing the EIGRP entry for this route in the routing table. I would like to have both of them , so we could have traffic sharing. I appreciate if you give me any hints.

    Raju,
you have two choices as far as I can see. If you want to use static routing over the WAN to your branch, you could duplicate your static routes to the branch and point them to the secondary router. You will have two identical sets of static routes in the primary router, one set pointing to the WAN interface and the other one pointing to the secondary router.
    ip route x.x.x.x "WAN-interface"
    ip route x.x.x.x "secondary router"
    ip route y.y.y.y "WAN-interface"
    ip route y.y.y.y "secondary router"
    etc.
As a result the primary router will have two routes to the branch and will load-balance. If one next-hop fails (either the WAN interface or the secondary router), only the other will be used. If the next-hop comes back up, load-balancing will resume.
The other choice would be to use EIGRP over the WAN, and make sure the two routers become EIGRP neighbors. Then you can use the "variance" command to achieve unequal cost load-balancing between the two routers. Let me know if you need more information about this, but i think static routes will be sufficient in your situation.
