2 monitor bug

when running dreamweaver CC with a second monitor there is a bug with the color picker window in css properties.
it does not open!
any experiences? solutions?

since I work with two Monitors too, I want to persuade Adobe's crew to allow a real "2monitor" working. What do I mean? I want to be able to open two different files, everyone in another monitor AND I want to be able to work in everyone separately.
Adobe has responded favourably in different groups of decision makers but the realisation is a question of balance supply and demand. What do you think about to support me in this question (keyword "wishform")?

DUAL MONITOR BUG: One Picture – One Monitor – Different Colors!

There have been several threads discussing that Photoshop CS4 and OS 10.6. show wrong colors in dual monitor setups.
The first one to prove this with a screen capture was jb510-LJ0JJQ in August 2009: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2207312#2207312
Eight months and three OS updates later the problem is still there and makes professional work with more than one monitor a nuisance.
Here's another actual example: A picture and its 100% identical copy showing different colors on one screen!
Here's how to repeat it – try this at home ;-)
1) In the finder make a copy of a rgb picture.
2) Open one of the two identical pics in photoshop.
3) Drag it to the other monitor.
When releasing the mouse button you may see the bug already: the colors will "switch".
4) To verify this go to system presets - monitors - and change the primary monitor (by dragging the menu bar to the other)
5) Now open the identical copy you made in step 1) and see the difference!
Here's a synopsis of suggested workarounds:
1) disable open GL (which seem to makes no difference on my setup)
2) click "desaturate monitor colors" but set desaturation to 0 (which prevents visual switching in step 3) (only if openGL is ON) but also leads to a wrong display in step 4+5
3) make the hardware calibrated monitor your default monitor and strictly avoid changes or dragging pics to the other monitor (which seems to be the only reliable method)
4) some guys even force both monitors to use the profile of their hardware-calibrated monitor (using color sync) to make sure they see what they should see on at least that one monitor. What a stone-age workaround for the the world's leading imaging program!
Considering that reliable colors in professional (=multi monitor) settings should be the most basic function of photoshop this mayor malfunction should be solved with CS5! Otherwise we might have to live with it for some more years...
Have Adobe and Apple realized this bug and on their agenda? Will it be gone with OS 10.6.3? Can anyone explain the reasons for this bad bug? Is there a "officially" recommended workaround?

But man, this is no minor bug! Consistent colors are the by far most important basic function of photoshop. If you cannot rely on the colors in photoshop you can as well use "Preview" and "Word" for print production ;-)
Carson, how did Apple react to your complaint? What do you mean with "they don't get it". Do they not see it? Or can't they get it right?

MultiCam Monitor Bug - mouse clicking dont swap audio track

ok in laymens terms I create a multicam sequence using four video tracks and four audio tracks. Normally the start of the sequence would have all the video audio tracks in, however I have started by editing single clips in time line 1. After a min or so I then import all the multicam footage to time lines 2,3,4. So the the actual sequence starts with clips on a single timeline as oppossed to all 4 video and sound tracks filled.
I multicam edit them in a new sequence and on final go to export but it fails. and it fails giving an "unknown error" message because the start of the multicam only has clips on one timeline.
However if I go to the synced sequence (original sequence) copy all the single edits at the beginning, then go to the multicammed sequence and paste these clip straight over the same clips in the multicamed sequence it then exports ok with no errors. I have to do this with every multicam edit I do which is a pain.
now the text above say if I repeat the same process in CS5 not CS5.5 there is no unknown error message and no need to fiddle about copying and pasting so why so in CS5.5?
I know your gonna say simple just do your multicam in CS5 but my main bought plugins and effects are for CS5.5 including native Canon MXF support and AVCHD support so I need the CS5.5 really. its bugged and needs fixing.

Dual Monitor Bug

Normally, I have my MacBook Pro on my desk with an external 24-in monitor. But when I travel, I leave the 24-in monitor behind. I also use the external monitor as the main screen for the machine, so the menu bar is on it.
So, I go on the road with the machine and fire up iTunes and the main window is too tall to fit on the screen. It's not at the size I use on the 24-inch, but it just won't fit on the MacBook Pro's screen. And, I think the problem is that iTunes forgets about the menu bar when it calculates the maximum size to fit on the built-in 1440x900 of its own screen, so the resize widget was just out of reach below the bottom of the screen.
And there doesn't seem to be any way to resize that main window if you can't reach the widget. I was hoping for a "Tile Window" feature that would do it, but there was nothing I could find. The green button only toggles between the miniplayer and the full window.
So, have I found a bug? Or am I missing a trick?

External Monitor bug

Hi,
i am working on a Macbook Pro Retina and a Fujitsu Siemens external 21,5" Monitor,
when i take a window from my Macbook Monitor to the external, it look like this:
can somebody tell me how to fix this bug?
its not appearing very often, but sometimes. Or is this an Osx Bug?
My OS is Mountain Lion.

I am running the latest up-to-date version of Photoshop.
Curiously, for some windows it displays fine on the second screen, whereas on others it goes absolutely nuts like the OP's attached image!
I'm also getting alot of persistent graphics that shouldn't be there (on my primary retina monitor), things like artifacts from the free-transform overlay and existing documents (when tabbing between open psds). I could go into more detail, but I'm starting to think it's a separate issue and warrants it's own post, which I'll try to do shortly.

Adobe Second Monitor Bug

I have a 2013 Mac Pro with an Apple Thunderbolt Display as my main monitor and a Dell 4K monitor as my second monitor. I have created a workflow under the Window menu that puts the palettes where I want and the timeline is on the second, 4K monitor.
None of the Adobe apps (CC 2014) on my Mac are capable of remembering where the palettes on that 4K monitor are supposed to go. When I launch the apps, the palettes are all over the place and I have to manually reset them. Selecting my saved workflow doesn't move them to where they are supposed to be.
So this happens in Flash too.
I've tried the solution I read about making sure the monitors in the Display preferences were arranged so that the bottom of both monitors is exactly in the same spot. No difference. I also made sure that the Spaces option was unchecked about separate spaces for second monitors.
Just seems like a bug with the way all Adobe apps are behaving on 4K secondary monitors.
Oh yeah, ever app I have has a menu bar on BOTH monitors, except Adobe's apps. Is that the way they are supposed to behave or is this related to the bug I'm describing?

I have OS X 10.10.3.
In Flash, it brings up the timeline on the second monitor way down at the bottom of the screen. I have to drag it back up to where it's supposed to be every single time. Even thought it's saved as a Workspace, etc., it's not sticking.

Is 'At Monitor' bad news for networks? Or is 'Activity Monitor' bugged?

I notice that when At Monitor (http://www.atpurpose.com/atMonitor/) is running on my network, Activity Monitor's 'Network' graph is nearly off the scale, a green line sitting at the top the little graph window.
After a restart and no At Monitor running, Activity Monitor registered 4.2 MB rec'd and 3.2 MB sent over 30 minutes.
Turn on At Monitor and in 8 minutes, a further 20 MB in and 20 MB out were registered.
Quit At Monitor and in 11 minutes only 1 MB and .6 MB registered.
At Monitor back on but with NO network - LAN or WiFi - and the graph is peaking steadily again and, after 12 minutes, 36 MB rec'd and 36 sent…
At Monitor off and now there is still network activity, although more spiky.
While all this has been observed, Wireshark has been running. I am woefully ignorant of the finer point of Wireshark but it seemed to me that its screen did not scroll up as fast as I thought it might during the frantic bits and stopped dead when I pulled the cable out of the socket, as it should. Maybe it should be polling some of the more unusual protocols or something.
Or is this a 'Just Works'** Apple bug?

Are the Sun maintainers monitoring bug reports etc. in netscape.server.directory?

I still follow the netscape.server.directory newsgroup.
(By the way, I much prefer a newsgroup discussion list to this web forum format, and highly recommend that you reconsider only having this web forum for discussion.) Anyway, the now Netscape/AOL developers have mentioned finding a bug in the 'changelog' code in DS5.1/NS6.0. Since we will be very interested in looking at this 'legacy' feature because of a metadirectory product we have, is this a bug you are aware of and are fixing yourselves?

I also concur on the idea of having something else than this web forum for discussion, but it's not my choice and I do with it.
The bug you're refering to is known and will be fixed in 5.2.
However, you can always open a support call if you want a faster resolution.

Twin video monitors (bug?)

Ever since I changed from Tiger to SL about 90% of my logic projects open on the right side monitor only, They used to open across both monitors every time.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Bunkus. You should use the highest quality method of transfer available. Anything else is just a load of uninformed crap. If you're going with that thinking, I might as well get rid of my Mackie 824s and Sony PVM19 in favor of a crappy 15" RCA television that the "majority" of people watching my stuff are going to see. You want it to look as clean as possible in every step of the way, and if you're down-grading it while monitoring, you're just missing things.

Activity monitor bug

Along with others (refer this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7147587&tstart=0) I find that activity monitor stops updating. The quoted thread is showing that the problem is answered but it is not. Removing the activity monitor plist pref does not solve the issue. Anyone else getting this problem?

There is no reason I should have to delete my preferences every single time I want to use the program.
Sure enough, but your description of the behavior and the whole shebang crashing with ntdll indicates a file I/O or permissions problem nonetheless. So check your folder permissions, user privileges and possibly any security tools. Same for 32bit services and drivers that simply may not be compatible. A quick look in the device manager can tell you that...

Hi everyone.
It only takes 15 seconds. There is a simple and quick way to verify whether or not your Photoshop does gammut mapping (which is needed to see accurate colors on your display).
(Maybe you find it interesting for yourself, but at least you would certainly do me a big favour. If you use a Mac, skip to the bottom.)
Here's the test:
1) open any image with "normal" colors (e.g. red tomatoes, but any image is fine) in Photoshop.
2) download the attached file colorspin.icm and set it as your monitor profile.* That's it!
*(control panel >> display >> settings >> advanced >> color management >> add... >> set as default >> apply)
Results: Your picture can now look either "normal" (e.g. red tomatoes) or have completely absurd colors (e.g. blue tomatoes).
I'd like to do a little poll here (so for comments, etc. please start a new thread!).
I'd be thankful if you could briefly post your results here, that is to say:
normal colors or false colors
version of OS and Photoshop
are you using (1) a notebook's internal display (2) a desktop PC with standalone monitor (3) a notebook together with standalone monitor and internal monitor switched off or (4) a dual-monitor-setup ? If you are interested or have the time, you can try different situations, as they can have an impact on the outcome (that's the case for me unfortunately).
I'll update this thread with a summary and an explanation, once there are enough results posted here, so check back later on. I'm trying to find out if there is a bug (either in Windows or in Photoshop) which kills the gammut mapping. There is no need to test this on Macs, as they don't have issues with this. So if you are a Mac user, please don't post your results (unless you unexpectedly suffer from this bug, too).

Editing Styles in 9.0.2.2.14

Has anyone had difficulty editing styles in the latest release of Portal? When I create a style as any user the style does not seem to be effected by updating the "Preview".
For example, from the navigator/Page Groups tab, I select Page Groups -> Shared Objects:Contents -> Styles. Then choose to "Create New... Style", which asked to copy from an existing style. Then I change the Portlet Header Color. The "Preview" to the right fails to update reflecting the changes.
I have applied the modified style to a page and have had it appear to have been correctly modified from the copied style, however this is not the expectation.
I have applied the interoperability patches, followed the install guides, etc. This is a development install to see if we can be in or near production ready in a month with this release.

In 9.0.4 the problem is still present. You can monitor bug 3516614. There is no solution yet and the problem is reproducable on almost every platform.

JDev 10G OSX Issues

I am starting this thread as a discussion area for bugs and issues with JDev 10G on Apple OSX 10.3. JDev is not officially supported on OSX, however, I am hoping that by providing well defined issue lists we can move that process along. Please add to this list if you are running JDev on OSX and find other issues!

-The Apple LnF has some missing icons and general painting issues in the file browser.
-com.apple.macos.useScreenMenuBar has been depreciated message on startup (noted other places)
-(MAJOR) JDev cannot correctly resolve paths using symbolic links. I haven't tried this, but I would suspect this is a problem on Linux as well. If I open a project that uses a symbolic link within its path, JDev seems to think there are two copies each file - one on the linked path and one on the fully resolved path. Somehow out of this, Jdev ends up placing all files into a Miscellaneous package under Web Content and Application Sources.
-Import... The dialog seems to have a hardcoded background color. When running under OSX with the Apple LnF, the background color is the dark color of the Oracle LnF in portions of the dialog.
-The sort order for files in the file dialogs is case sensative is a unfriendly way: A-Z sorts as a group before a-z. Preferable would be Aa, Bb, etc, as OSX applications (and windows applications) do. Is this also a problem in Linux?
-Quiting JDev results in the following error (terminal text from JDev start to JDev Quit):

-Dual monitors Issue: (partially fixed) Works great under Apple LnF as long as com.apple.macos.useScreenMenuBar is 'false'. When set to 'true' and working in the non-main window (the window w/o the menubar), context menus pop-up at the edge of the main window instead of at the mouse location.
-Command-Q will quit JDev, but will not always kill the associated Embedded OC4J instance. I can't always reproduce this - perhaps it happens after I've switched projects, recompiled somethings, etc..
-Quiting JDev using any method other File|Quit results in the open file list not being saved. (Other methods are Command-Q or the JDev menu item Quit option)
___Problems in the preview release that were fixed in the 10G release___
-Fixed: The close/minimize buttons on tabs and panes now display properly in the Apple LnF.
-Fixed: Save As... removes the original file from the project list. So it looks as if the file has been renamed - in reality the original file is still on the disc, just no longer part of the project.
-Fixed: The state of open files is not restored when JDev is resarted. Somewhere along the line I ended up with the JDev Welcome page and a class file as being the open files each time I start JDev, regardless of what files were open when I closed JDev. Tried with OSX LnF and Oracle LnF.
-Fixed: When running under OSX LnF, editing code will result in the addition of a 'Code' menu to the menu bar, however, all of the other menu items are de-activated (greyed out). When the context changes to something other then code editing, the 'Code' menu item disappears, but all of the other menu items remain de-activated. -(Have not replicated in 10G release) After switching from MS Windows to OSX using JDev 10G for both, leading square bracket characters ([) seem to be stripted from JavaScript in JSP pages. Additionally, an extra space is sometimes inserted after a litteral in square braces. If you see something similar, please submit more details. I have a more detailed writeup in the Technologies|Apple section - search for 'square bracket characters'.

-When typing import statements, is there some way to have jdev continue showing context lists after a selection is made? For instance, when entering:

I type "org." which allows me to choose apache from the list. Then... nothing - I have to backspace to delete the '.' and retype it in order to get the next code completion popup. In JBuilder there was the option to select an item from the list by pressing the '.' (dot), which would immediately continue with another context selection box.

Unfortunately we only have a few macs and non of them have more than one monitor at the moment. But from your description this problem seem to lie with Apple rather than us. I will keep an eye on it for you though.

I belive this is a common problem accross all platform.
** Inner classs issue
Again this is a problem with all versions of JDeveloper. Logged as bug 3546309, not currently scheduled to be fixed until the next release. Note that this only seems to affect the highligthing in the editor and nothing else.
** Items not being saved, position not being restored.
If you press Apple-Q the Java virtual machine will kill jdeveloper and not allow it to close down properly. This can be resolve by addin hooks provided by apple. For the 903 preview release we had an addin for this. I will look at providing a drop in for 9.0.5.1
** Symbolic links, and other enhancements
In will invetigate symbolic links and get back to you. I will also look at tracing down ER or log bugs for the other enhancemnts you mention
