2 networks detected

I am using WRT54GC, when I click "Connect to a Network", it shows there are 2 networks, one with the SSID name, the other unnamed, both with excellent signal strength. When I off the router the computer does not detect any network, so the unnamed channel can't be other nearby router. What is the unnamed network?

Well someone in the neighbourhood might be using the linksys router which  might be broadcasting the unsecured network which you are able to see on your network list & then you could just do one thing you could assign a unique SSID to your network with the security passwod & you will be connect to your secured network you don't worry about your network detected on your network list.

  • Satellite L300-17L - don't see any wireless networks detected

    Hello all,
I just bought a Satellite L300 - 17L. All drivers seem to work except for the wireless card.
First, I installed the driver pointed by this site but I discovered that the card is actually an Intel Pro 3945 card, not Realtek as specified in the driver section.
Now I installed the driver for the INTEL PRO 3945ABG, version 11.5.1.15 and also the PRO Set utility, and I don't see any wireless networks detected.
I have a colleague that sees many networks using the same adapter but on a other Laptop.
I also tested the switch on the Laptop and it is on.
Did you experience this kind of problems on your system ? Please help me because I am really sad because of this issue.
    Thanks & Best regards
    Valentin

    Hi
As far as I know this notebook was equipped with the Intel 11a/b/g WLan card.
You should firstly check if the WLan router and the WLan card use the same WLan standard.
In the WLan card properties (in device manger) you could check this settings choosing Advanced tab.
I would also recommend checking if the WLan was enabled properly
    Bye

  • [solved] netcfg2 automatic network detection

I had set up automatic network detection a while ago, following the directions in this page of the Arch wiki.  After a recent update, the feature stopped working entirely.  This is the output of the startup script:
    [root@tomato][/etc/network.d][ /etc/rc.d/net-profiles start ][08-11-03-16:00]
    > Profile "auto-wireless" does not exist
    > Profile "wlan0" does not exist
However, if I run "netcfg-auto-wireless wlan0" manually, it finds the network and connects without problems.
In addition, I'd like to have net-profiles autodetect my wired network, which uses WPA supplicant for authentication.  I already have a working WPA config and network profile.  Is there anything I need to add to my /etc/rc.conf?

See: http://www.archlinux.org/news/410/ for recent changes to netcfg. Basically wireless support was broken out of net-profiles into net-auto. The notice and wiki link within has the details.

  • Airport extreme, dlink router, no network detected

    Hi
I have installed my airport extreme card, intending to connect via my D-Link DSL-G604 ADLS router to the internet, wirelessly, but airport does not detect any networks. This seems unusual as the other computer, a PC, in our house picks it up immediately, and connects.
Is there some secret to connecting to a non-airport base station? Can someone perhaps talk me through the process?
    many thanks

    Hi,
The D-Link I have is a little bit different than yours; mine is a DI-524. But maybe that what I read on the D-Link website will also apply to you.
D-Link recommed to set the security to WEP 128bits HEX. Try this setting. I got issue in between Airport and D-Link when I set the security to anything else but in WEP-128bits HEX as recommended on the D-Link web site.
let me know if this work!

  • No Wifi Network Detection After 4.0.1 update-Loader Keeps Spinning on & off

All Mac addresses are there Bluetooth Wifi IESN etc, it shows WIFI is on but the circle loader keeps spinning trying to search for networks. No luck.
Ive tryed everything mentioned here, Restore, rollback to 3.1.3 OS reset etc.
The funny this is, the circle loader thing next to WIFI keeping spinning then disappearing. No networks are being detected.
Any advice would be greatly appriciated. Im leaning towards a hardware issue here,isO4 fried my wifi chip?
    Thanks,
    Joe-

    Joe,
    I have a 3G, 4.0.1.
I'm having the same problem with my wife's phone. It does not even detect the networks, just spins and spins and spins. I can set my phone (exactly the same set up as hers) right next to it and it sees all the networks with no problem. I have even restored hers with my settings, with no luck. I have searched everywhere and tried everything. I usually get stupid answers like reset your wifi, really, when it works on my two computers and my iphone? I've also seen the put it in you fridge for 10 minutes. I'm about to give up.
About the only real answer I found is that its a hardware problem. Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near an Apple store.

  • New Network Detected??

Ok, so I purchased my WRT54G wireless G router the other day. I set it up perfectly fine, and it began to work immediately with no problems. However, every about 24 hours or less my internet stops working, and when i check the linksys's advisor it says that a new network has been detected. After this i then have to go through the setup again and then the internet works ok. However, during the re setup, i have to unplug the router wait ten seconds then it usually works. But i really have no desire to keep doing this. I would really like for my internet and wireless internet to keep working on a regualy basis. So please, someone help!!
Also i have a cable connection internet run through Adams Cable. Thanks again!

I think you can try to update the firmware of the router to solvge this. To update the firmware of router try this:
Go to www.linksys.com/download and select correct model numbers and version number. Downloaf the firmware and save it on your computer.
Check the file it sould be firmware image file like .bin etc. If it is a compressed zip file extract it to get firmware image file.
Open setup page of router by typing http://192.168.1.1 in browser;s address bar, and typing password as "admin" and no user name.
    Go to administartion tab there
Go to fimware update sub-tab there
Browse for the firmware image file and click update
when update completes turn off modem & router.
After 2 minutes turn on modem and after 2 more minutes turn on router.
    Check if connection dropping stops.

  • Satelite M300-D4316 - wireless network detected but can't connect

Previously I could use wireless LAN on my laptop but last week since I registered a bluetooth connection, wireless connection doesn't function anymore.
It can still detect wireless network around me; I fail every time when I try to connect, & it asks me to diagnose the problem & says something like 'signal is too weak'.
I'm pretty sure that it's not the problem of the wireless service- all my friends can connect to it!
    What should I do?

Maybe the Wireless LAN was toggled off?
Try pressing Fn+F8 to toggle the Wireless Devices.
Also ensure the Wireless Switch is turned on at the front/side of the notebook.

  • If free network detected, then connect!

    Hi All,
i'd like to know if i can create an applescript capable of detecting if there is some unprotected wifi network, and if so to connect.
Ideally I'd like something like that to start as a login item.
If my mac finds a network - even if it doesn't know it yet - it automatically connect.
    Is it possible?
    Thanks!

Just wanted to point out to others that there are valid uses for this. I, too, am looking for a solution to this (and will let you know if I come across one) before I go on a trip in about 17 hours.
I'll be traveling to a private camp that offers free Wi-Fi, but since I no longer have a laptop, I'd like to take my Mac Mini down there, using my iPad as my monitor rather than lugging one down. I can get this setup working if they're on the same network, but since my Mac Mini is unfamiliar with the network down there, it's not set up to automatically connect. I can connect them using an ad-hoc network in an environment either unfamiliar or with no Wi-Fi, but then I get no Internet... and I can't "switch" over without disabling the ad-hoc first, meaning I can't actually connect to the Internet Wi-Fi afterwards.
TC, I don't know anything about AppleScripts, nor what that command you posted does, but maybe you can find a way to combine it with the AppleScript I experimented with to create an ad-hoc network. Here's the link: http://forums.presonus.com/posts/list/21262.page
If you manage to figure out a real solution, I'd love to hear about it.

  • AirportExpressON; no network detected

Airport Express is working with green light but network is gone. It's not even listed as a choice. I've been using it since March and this week I cannot figure out what's happening. I've connected ethernet directly to computer to get online. I'd like to go back to wireless and eventually add another computer. Any thoughts as to what may have happened and how to fix it?
Intel iMac, 24" 2.4 refurb with Tiger purchased in March 08
installed Leopard two months ago, have cordless phone in another room, no other devices near computer.
    All help is appreciated.

I had a similar problem with a Time Capsule. I just installed the 10.5.3 update and the new Airport utility. After that My iMac would not connect. My iPhone and Powerbook both connected. I loaded a clean install of Leopard on another disk and booted to it still no connection. I installed 10.5.4 and the TC firmware installer and now all is right with the world.

  • No wifi networks detected G5

Just installed the airport card for my powermac g5 2.3. It is recognized in the system profiler, however when configuring access to my wifi network it is not registering my network, on any of the wifi networks in my area. The Bluetooth part of the card works. What would I have to do to get it to recognize wifi networks? It is powered on and I have tried to reseed the card.

I have a late 2005 model with the internal antenna. Do you know if there is anything I need to hookup too the airport, or by internal it is inside the airport card (the antenna that is).

  • Outlook 2010 Slow Network detection

    Hi,
Does anyone know the criteria Outlook 2010 uses to decide if it's on a "slow network" in the context of using MAPI or HTTP the Exchange Proxy Setting?
I can find a couple of documents for Outlook 2003 using the reported network adapter speed, and if it's < 1Mbps considering it slow. But I cannot find any documentation for Outlook 2010.
    http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/outlookanywherefastslow.htm#registry
I have done some testing and Outlook 2010 doesn't seem to use the same criteria.... I'm seeing "Slow Network" settings used when the network adapter is reporting a > 1Mbps link speed.
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge it is a slow network when it's 1Mbps or slower. I haven't found the document for Outlook 2010, but even for the latest Outlook 2013, it is still 1Mbps (128 KB):
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179067.aspx#section4
We can find the information from the "Managing Outlook behavior for perceived slow connections" section in the article above.
Anyway, we can try to modify this limit by creating the slowbitrate registry key:
    Important
This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the
registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry,
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Back-up-the-registry
    Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\rpc
    Value name: slowbitrate
    Value type: REG_DWORD
The value to enter is the minimal bitrate required to consider a network being fast. Anything below this bitrate would be considered slow.
    Example: 128KB = 1Mbit = 1024 bit
I hope the information is helpful.

  • Lumia Icon network detection erros

    Hello,
The Lumia Icon seems to have some difficulty identifying the state of its network connection when set to LTE mode on several carrier networks (tested on T-Mobile and AT&T so far). Even when successfully connected in LTE mode with the carrier's preferred APN settings, the Icon will show that there is no signal (even though apps are working and speed tests show LTE speeds). It does seem to be able to identify status correctly when connected in 2G (EDGE) mode, only LTE seems to cause problems. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

    Hi Umpossible,
    Welcome to the forum!
The Lumia Icon is a Verizon-exclusive device. I suppose you have it unlocked to be able to use it with other networks. Have you verified from AT&T or T-Mobile which LTE bands to they use? The Lumia Icon supports LTE bands 4 and 13. Try also to check if 4G is selected under Settings > Cellular / Mobile Data > Highest connection speed.
Hope to hear feedback from you soon.

  • No network connection detected after upgrade to 7.7

    Hi,
We recently tried to upgrade itunes to 7.7 - since we did this we have been unable to connect to the store "no network detected". Was advised to upgrade XP to SP2 but link took me to SP3 which I then installed. Have tried uninstalling QT and itunes and reinstalling since upgrading to XPSP3 and clearing the DNS cache but still no joy. Everything else works fine - just the connection to the store which is failing. Can someone please help?

  • Multiple Apple TV's on the same network with airplay issues.

I work at a school with 37 Apple TV's.  They are all on the same network, some of them are wired while others are wireless.  The problem I am having is that airplay works and then doesn't work for some unknown reason.  The Apple TV's are connected to the network and internet when they are experiencing this and I believe that the issue is bonjour. Does anyone know any way of solving this issue.

Yeah, I think wiring them is the only solution to this problem.
We've only got three (well, had one and bought two more this summer - that's when the trouble started).
The first one I got had trouble connecting with the wireless network, so Apple support said to reboot the main router. That is, shut down the entire network while we reboot for one Apple TV. So...OK, I get it, Apple is a CONSUMER company and we're trying to use their products in a school...in spite of that, so far, it has been worth the effort.
But YESTERDAY I got that message about too many devices on the network and to "disconnect a device..." (you know the rest).
So, I called Aruba, knowing that it was a wireless issue and that I've had issues with them and, particularly
Bonjour. Aruba appears to be a Windows only network - would that I would have known that three years ago. But Aruba TAC has NO CLUE what the issue is. So I called Apple Tech Support and they have NO CLUE - weren't even aware of this posting, what, six months ago? (Shows you how much they read and value the forum - we're on our own, boys and girls!)
So...I wired the front of the school Apple TV to a nearby wireless access point and now it's a steady as a rock. But prior to that I actually stood in front of the ATV and watched as it connected, then disconnected, then connected, then disconnected (ad nauseum). Interferrence? Well, maybe, there are only about 150 rogue networks detected in the immediate vicinity - but Aruba ASSURED ME that their WAPs were sophisticated enough to recongnize that and filter them out. (Maybe not?)
So the ATV at the front of the building ocassionally just drops off the network. I can tell because we run a Flickr slideshow on it all day long with announcements and stuff. When I go by the TV and see the thumbnails and no slideshow, I know it has dropped off the network. Usually I can reconnect it. But that's not good enough.
Finally, yesterday, a teacher called me who has an ATV (long story on how she got that) and said she was not longer connected to the network. A shudder ran through my body as I expected (and realized) the worst.
So, my installer is coming tomorrow to wire her ATV into the WAP in her classroom. But TODAY, I have to call Aruba and enable the additional port since it's not enabled by default.
I'll tell you, every day, I get this horrific feeling in the pit of my stomach that this whole world of technology we have built is held together with bailing wire and duct tape and that it just has to blow at some point.
Then I watch Bob Ross do his paintings (and a NEW KID on the block - watch out for him - Kevin Hill - this kid takes Bob Ross to the next level and he's only 18 years old) and think - "What the heck am I doing here, anyway? Why am I not home painting?" But them I start feeling guilty that I'm leaving the school in the lurch. Who will stand up to these bozos who don't have a clue what's going on and, further, don't seem to care, yet, get this, think they are doing a GREAT JOB! I'm telling you, I'm living on Superman's Planet Bizarro!

  • IPod Touch 4G not detected in iTunes 10.0.1.22 when using Remote App 2.0

I'm guessing Apple's Remote App 2.0 works well for iPhone 4 and iPad, but when I try using it with iPod Touch 4G, it does not show up in devices to enter the passcode.
    same wifi network
iTunes 10.0.1.22, Home Sharing On, Library Sharing enabled, Looking for remotes enabled.
iPod Touch 4G (iOS 4.1) (no problems with wifi)
Apple's Remote App 2.0 Home Sharing login works well. Adding Library produces 4 digit passcode.
BUT, again, it does not show up in Devices to have the opportunity to enter the passcode.
iTunes is an approved app in firewall settings.
Win 7 (32bit) Network Detection/Printer&File Sharing is enabled.
    Interesting:
When I try to connect to Airport Express with my PC,
    I receive "unknown error (-15006)"
Another iMac running iTunes 9 is able to stream music to the airport express without problem.
Using my PC, I'm able to connect to the iMac, and stream music from the iMac to my PC.
When Airport Utility (on PC) is open I can't detect Airport Express (even though the light is solid green.
I'm still guessing iTunes 10.0.1.22 has AirPlay/AirTunes issues, and in general doesn't want to detect any wifi devices.
I haven't yet looked up the error code, but would love to hear some thoughts out there.
Anyone else have similar issues? Are there any fixes?
    Please share.
    Thanks.

another piece of info about Remote App 2.0 on my iPod Touch 4G
I'm able to turn on the Home Sharing button inside the app.
The text description below it says:
"Remote will automatically find the iTunes libraries and Apple TV's that have Home Sharing turned on using the account _____."
Both my iTunes and this app have Home Sharing turned on and logged-in using the same account info, but Remote App is NOT automatically detecting my iTunes library. Nothing happens!! When I then click the "Add an iTunes Library" button, Remote app generates a 4-digit passcode number, but still won't detect my iTunes account. The same is true for iTunes; it will not detect my iPod Touch as a nearby wireless device on the same wifi network.
I don't know how to move beyond this issue!
Am I correct to assume that signing into my Home Sharing account on Remote App should automatically find my iTunes Library and populate the Remote App screen on my iPod Touch with a button/link to start navigating my iTunes Library, while at the same time iTunes should detect my iPod Touch in Devices and give me a screen to enter the passcode? Do I actually need a passcode if I'm using Home Sharing?
I'm guessing that Home Sharing is for when I'm at my house, and a passcode is for when I'm at a friend's house. Could someone confirm if this is really the case?
