2 of everything in my library

is there an easy way to delete duplicate? or do i have to click on every song and deleate the extra one.

I just had the same problem with my 11 gigs of songs being duplicated. I came on here for some advise, and the best I found was deleting everything and reinstalling- which was better than doing the duplicate/dead scripts.
I proceeded to back up all my music so I could delete the entire iTunes folders. I noticed some files that said iTunes library in my "My Music/iTunes" folder. I realized that deleting these files would probably clear my library.. so I did. I reopened iTunes and what do u know.. I was right!
After that all I had to do was add my music folders back into iTunes!
The files read exactly this: iTunes Library & iTunes Music Library. One is a Database File, the other is an XLM document. Just delete these with iTunes closed, then reopen and import your music.
Problem Solved! Simple and easy, and NO UNINSTALLATION or time consuming/difficult other methods!!
Pass this info on to everyone who has a duplicate songs issue that is due to moving the music folder. (if you actually have duplicates on your comp, then this is another issue)

  • After installing yosemite and the latest version of iPhoto all my photos want missing. I have tried everything but my library is empty. Why on earth apple changed iPhoto. It wasn't broken who fix it. I am seriously consider to get ríd of my iMac

Yosemite made all my photos dissapear

Which version of iPhoto did you upgrade from?  What happens when you try to launch iPhoto? Do you get any warnings, when iPhoto upgraded the library?
I have tried everything but my library is empty.
    What have you tried already?
Where did you store your iPhoto library? On an external drive or your system drive?
iPhoto will create a new, empty library, if it cannot open or find your previous iPhoto library.
If you upgraded from iPhoto '08 or earlier, the iPhoto library needs to be prepared with iPhoto Library Upgrader. See this link:    iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader
If you got error messages during the upgrade of the library, restore your iPhoto Library from your most current backup.

  • 1. How do I delete everything from the library?; 2. How do I delete everything without effecting the albums on facebook?

    1. How do I delete everything from the library?; 2. How do I delete everything without effecting the albums on facebook?

To delete everything from the iPhoto Library select all photos in the "Photos" view and press the "delete ⌫" key.
You cannot delete your photos without effecting the Facebook albums, if you are syncing your iPhoto library albums to Facebook.  See Terence Devlin's post here:
Re: deleting from iphoto but not from facebook
The only way to delete photos from your iPhoto library without removing them from your Facebook albums would be to sign out of Facebook first by deleting the Facebook account from your iPhoto Preferences:
    From the iPhoto Help:
Important:  If you delete photos and albums from iPhoto, they’re deleted from your Facebook page, along with any posted comments. You can’t undo this action. To delete photos and albums from iPhoto without deleting them from Facebook, first remove the Facebook account from iPhoto. Choose iPhoto > Preferences, and then click Accounts. Click to select the Facebook account (below the Accounts subhead on the left), and then click the Delete button in the lower-left corner of the Accounts pane.

  • Set up new iPhone 5 with iCloud restore, then iTunes created new library with only content already on phone. How do I find and sync everything in original library?

My daughter got a new iPhone 5 and we set it up using the option to restore her iPhone 4 backup from iCloud. This worked great and everything on the old phone showed up on the new phone. Because we were traveling, we weren't able to sync the iPhone 5 with iTunes at that time.
She purchased new apps and music on the iPhone 5. When we returned home she synced with iTunes, and it seems to have created a new library, with only the content currently on the phone. I don't know if it prompted her to do this on the first sync or not - she doesn't remember.
So in iTunes, the library now only shows the music on the phone. A sync isn't doing much now because when choosing the phone in iTunes and selecting each content type across the top (Apps, Music, Movies, TV Shows) the box is unchecked to sync that content. When I check the box to "Sync Music", iTunes gives a warning:
Are you sure you want to sync music? all existing songs and playlists on the iPhone Becca's iPhone will be replaced with songs and playlists from your iTunes library.
Same goes for apps, except that warning also mentions that the apps and their data will be erased and replaced.
At some point she was also getting a message that this iPhone was associated with another library, but I'm not sure how she had triggered that. She says she canceled out of that. I can see all of the music
How do we get iTunes to see the "old" library of songs, videos and apps without losing the ones she's purchased already on the iPhone? The music files themselves are still on the computer, and include music both purchased from iTunes as well as music ripped from CDs. Thanks for any advice!

  • Set up home sharing on PC and laptop but it is not showing the owner's library on laptop - on PC it has nothing in it? Has everything in the library above.

I have done everything it says to do however nothing is showing up on my laptop.  It says Miss Kidds library which is the name of my user on the PC so I know it has recognised it.  On my PC it doesnt have anything in the owners library under the shared box, not sure if this has anything to do with it? I have tried copying and pasting from my library to it and nothing has worked.

  • If I download itunes on a new computer will I lose everything in my library

If I install Itunes on a new computr=er will I lose everything I've purchased?

Your iTunes library is not part of the iTunes software download. It resides locally on your computer.
You need to transfer your iTunes library from the old computer to the new one.
Copy the whole iTunes folder in Music on the old computer to the same location (Music) on the new computer, replacing the iTunes folder that was created during the iTunes install.
    iTunes folder locations for Windows:
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows Vista: C:\Users\{username}\Music\
    Windows 7: C:\Users\{username}\My Music\
    Windows 8: C:\Users\{username}\My Music\

  • I can't sync my music on iPhone 4S - trying to do manually but don't get options to drag and drop .  If I uncheck everything in my library it won't remove from my iphone

I cannot sync my 4s.  If I uncheck all items on my library it doesn't remove all music from my phone.  If I try to update manually I do not get the drag and drop options that the user guide states I should?

Did you check "Manually manage music and videos" in iTunes before you tried to drag and drop?

  • I want to erase everything in my library on iTunes and replace the content with what is on my ipod

I have done something to mess up my iPods ability to sync with my computer.  In attempt to fix it myself I downloaded a whole lot of stuff onto my iPod iTunes that I don't want.  When itry to sync it tells me that i cannot. Now I just want everything off iTunes so that I can reload what is on my device into iTunes. It won't let me. Help! Thx

If the information is in iTunes on the computer you have synced with in the past another sync, being sure you select the items you want on the iphone, should copy those things back to the iPhone.

  • How do I sync my new iphone without deleting everything in my library?!

Last time I got a new iphone, all my music was deleted when I first synced it with my itunes library. How do I make sure that doesn't happen again?! What exactly do I have to click when the initial message pops up asking if I want to sync the new device. Some people have said yes, some people have said no. I need a postive answer please!

Was all the music purchased on iTunes? If yes then you own that music, just like if you buy an app you can always reinstall it under that Apple ID. If not and the music is on you itunes then just sync your music and choose what songs you want. If you have iTunes match ($25 a year) then you will always have all your music on all your Apple devices. It also makes sure the quality is as high as possible and all your album artwork is there.

  • My iTunes deleted everything in my library, again!

My iTunes has been messed up before, and I lost a lot of music, but I let it go and just restarted everything. But for the past few months it was working perfectly fine, and I got most of my music back. But the other day I clicked on iTunes to listen to music, and everything that was there before was absolutely gone. No music, videos, apps, e v e r y t h i n g. I dont have a Sony Vaio, so I cant use other answers that other people have gotten. I'm to the point where im absolutely clueless on what to do, and I really need help! Thanks!

I tried making backups but it never worked.
    and then?
Your computer loses stuff, you can't make backups so just do nothing?
If you do not have a backup...
You can download iTunes purchases again.
    See this -> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
    Everything else is gone.

  • If I have to reinstall will I lose everything in the library?

I uninstalled Quick Time without realizing iTunes won't work without it. When I click on iTunes, the message is "Please reinstall iTunes." OK, but will all my music be erased? What are my options?

No reinstalling iTunes will not delete your music although it is aways advisable to backup your music.
It is also a good idea to make a copy of the library dtabases - iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml - just in case.
You should be able to put back Quicktime by doing a repair install of iTunes:
Go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Change or Remove Programs
Select iTunes, then click on Change, then select Repair.
Or you could download the stand alone version Quicktime and install that:

  • Plugged in ipod and it deleted everything in my library.  Is there away to get my stuff back

plugged in ipod and lost all my stuff from my library.  Is there a way to get this back

    Itunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other items you will have to get them from where you got them the first time.

  • How do I export everything in My library, even purchased songs?

Cause If I had to get another Mp3 i'm not sure if I want to get another iPod, so I would want to be able to export everything of mine into another folder or place so it can imported into another program for another mp3. Can anyone help me?

Does the Store > Check For Available Downloads menu option on your computer's iTunes download them, or do they show in the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes Store homepage (Purchased tab in the iTunes Store app if using an iOS device) for downloading ? If not then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the report a problem page doesn't work then try contacting Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • How to only show what is on my ipad, not everything in my library/cloud.

since the ios 7 upgrade, my iPad is flooded with movies and tv shows that I have already watched and have removed from my iPad.
I want to be able to see just what is present on my iPad, but I don't want to hide those items in iTunes on my mac.  I use my iPad mostly offline and the cloud items are distracting and make it hard to use.  Is there a toggle or something to see just what is currently present on my iPad?

    For Music:
Settings > Music > turn off Show All Music
    For Videos:
Settings > Videos > turn off Show All Videos

  • Everything in the library has gone

I have iTunes 8.0.1.11 and I opened up iTunes as normal to discover that all my songs have gone, including those purchased from iTunes. It is as if I am starting from scratch. Please help.

"but the whole purpose of my post is actually to avoid Apple having my computer for WEEKS."
You don't know that! Sometimes the time factor comes in when the repair shop has to wait for parts to arrive if they do not have any spares. Usually from somewhere in Asia.
"Apple tech support basically told me to expect that."
Apple tech support are not the ones who will be doing the repair work.
"Personally, I can't see why they just cannot open the back and fix it on the spot at the Genius Bar"
Again, you won't know unless you call & ask!
Call around to different AASPs to find the best times you can get! Tell them you are in a "rush".
Young folks!!!! Always in a hurry.
