2 of my 8 Xsan clients are not mounting. Get fsmpm is not running.

OK, I need some help. Being new to Xsan and Xserve I am now at a loss. Today 2 of my 8 workstations just stopped connecting and mounting to the volumes.
On each of the workstations I get fsmpm is not running. When I look at the logs this is wht the client machines report.

Somewhere I read that these problems are related to the upgrades from Jaguar. Any ideas--chattrod

Hi, I have a setup where managment interface is in different vlan, ap-manager is in different vlan, APs are in different vlan and the clients are on their own vlans respectively. Everything works except for when I try to associate a client to an ap on the floor. It doesn't get an IP address..Here is a debug of DHCP on the controller.

I got it to work, I had to create seperate AP groups and virtual interface for each client vlan and point it to the DHCP server.

    Hi,
    Thank you for replying
I have created /u02/crs on both nodes and this folder belongs to user oracle group dba
First i was creating cluster.conf using ocfs2console then propagate this files to node2. After that i load and online the cluster using o2cb command and format /dev/sdc1 using ocfs2console. Then i was trying to mount the /u02/crs for ocfs2, on node 1 the mounting was successfully without any errors but when i was trying to mount on node 2 the errors came out
    root@rac2>#mount -t ocfs2 -o datavolume,nointr -L "crsshared" /u02/ocrs

After doing a Google search for web sites, the reultant links will not open, a 'Firefox not responding' shows in the URL bar.

I had the same problem and my solution was to disable the PDF extension that came with Firefox 4 which belongs to another company. I found out that it wast interfering with ReaderX. I unabled it and restarted Firefox. I have had no problems since then. Go to Tools, Add-On and click on Extensions and disable the PDF extension. I hope this helps

  • External hard drive not mounting - what's happening?

All of a sudden one of my external firewire drives is not mounting, but that's not all....
it's not showing up in disk utility, not showing up in system profiler, not showing up on desktop, not showing up in finder, not showing up in Disk Warrior, and not showing up in TechTool.
When I turn on the power, it seems to spin up but doesn't mount. No usual noises either.
Could it be a faulty controller board on the enclosure?
    Any suggestions?
Really hope to figure this out, cause it has my entire itunes collection (500gb) on it.
    Thanks in advance.

First, try another FW drive or device in your computer to be sure that FW is working.
If you have more than one FW port, try the drive in it.
    Change FW cable.
Try the external HD on another Mac (do not use a PC!!!)
If none of above works, it's most likely the logic card in the enclosure, and not the external HD. I believe your data are OK.

  • WD External HD Will Not Mount

I installed Lion when it was first released and have had no issues. Suddenly now my WD 1TB external hard drive will not mount. I can see it in Disk Utility. I can run "verify disk, it reports that there are no problems. I run repair disk for grins, it reports no problems. The only issue is that it will not mount. I have not intalled any updates or software lately so I don't think there is any conflict there.
I have seen folks reporting issues with WD external drives after installing Lion, but this one has been working with Lion until a few days ago. Has anyone else see or figured out this issue?

  • My Passport Pro will not mount at all

    Hello,
I just bought this Western Digital My Passport Pro with the 2TB with Thunderbolt connection. I do not have a My Passort with a USB connection. It will not mount to my MacBook Pro running Mavericks 10.9.3. However it does work perfectly on my wife's computer running Lion. On my MacBook it dose not show up in finder OR Disk Utility. I called Western Digital and talked to support. They were going to try and fix something for me but said that it had to be available in Disk Utility and said that I had to call Apple for support.
Does anyone know how I can fix this problem so I can use the My Passport Pro with Mavericks?  Thank you!

Did you ever get a solution to this problem?
I bought the My Passport Pro last week to use as a portable backup when travelling with my MacBook Pro (2011).
The My Passport Pro works OK on my iMac.
But, when I plug it into the Thunderbolt port on the MacBook Pro, nothing happens.  Looks like it is not getting enough power.
Both iMac and MBP are running the latest version of Yosemite.
    Did you get yours fixed?
    Regards

  • MacBook Pro 17" - Internal HD not mounted!!!

    Hi all,
So yesterday, out fo the blue, my MBP just froze.
I let it sit (while plugged in) for about 15-20 minutes before forcing a restart.
After restarting all I received was a gray screen (no boing, no apple, no spinner).
Pressing the power button causes an immediate shut-off of the laptop.
I tried to start up a few more times with the same result, but eventually just let it sit to see what would happen.
After some time (maybe 10 minutes) I received a blinking folder with a ? mark inside.
    So I called Apple.
They had me reset the power module ( unplug, no battery, press power button for 15 seconds) and reset the PRAM ( Apple-key + alt/option + P + R keys - restrt twice while holding).
I now have a boing, but nothing else.
We tried to boot from the CD (press C while booting) but no luck.
At this time Apple agreed to send me a box to ship it to them for repair.
Although I have a backup it is 3 weeks old ... so I am not giving up yet.
I've tried firewire mode ( press T while booting ), but the only drive I can access is my SuperDrive (if something is in it).
After reading several other posts and MANY boot attempts I have been able to boot from the OS X CD and access the system utilities ...
Fortunatelly, the system still sees my HD and shows one greyed out volume, however it says the mount point for the volume is "Not mounted".
I can not verify or repair as these buttons are greyed out ... when I hit the mount button, nothing happens ... no error, no nothing.
I would really like to get a backup if possible before sending this hardare to Apple. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do with this volume to get it to mount, or other wise get an image off of it???
I have an 500 GB external USB 2.0 drive, a firwire cable, and a sunflower-style G4 iMac at my disposal ...
    Thanks in advance ...
    MacBook PRO 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    Hi Bradley,
Sorry to hear of your bad luck. It might be worth trying a few things.
    a) Have you tried a utility like DiskWarrior? It might save the disc and allow it to mount - you could download the software to the imac and then if you can see it from firewire try a repair. If not, Diskwarrior may allow you to create a cd/dvd -http://www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrior/
If not - and I'm assuming that if there is a hardware problem it might be intermittent, keep trying to start the machine in various configurations - firewire or from the dvd - it might start up - I've seen it happen.
When you start from the install dvd - you could see if it would be possible to do an archive/install - assuming you can get that far.
    Anyway, just some thoughts.
Finally, if your backup is bootable you could try restarting from that - again the internal hd might show up - I can't remember if you can boot from usb2 on an intel mac - I think you might be able to - I used to know when they first came out but forgot - just checked - you can, if you made a bootable backup.
    Anyway, best of luck.

  • SD Card not mounting with Yosemite, Disk Utility Yes, Finder No

    Hi Everyone!
    mid-2012 15" rMBP
    2.7 GHz i7
    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Yosemite 10.10
Installed Yosemite about 2 weeks ago.  So far things have been fine.
Just this morning tried reading a Nikon formatted Sony Class 10 (40MB/s) 16 GB SD card through the internal SD card reader - and nothing happened.  After some poking around I noticed that the SD card is recognized by both the Disk Utility and the System Software, but not by Finder.  The SD card will not mount.
It is not the SD card because it will mount on my buddies MBP running Mavericks (I had to upload the photos through Dropbox off his MBP).
I have already tried resetting both the PRAM and the SMC - it did not change anything.  The system would still not mount the SD Card.
Here is the interesting thing.  I have taken an old Class 4 8GB SD card which also wasn't being recognized and using Disk Utility, reformatted from MS DOS FAT to EXFat.  Now Finder will in fact mount the drive.  However, my Nikon or other devices will not accept an ExFAT formatted SD Card.
    Check this out:
    Anyone have any ideas?
    THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

  • [SOLVED] linux-grsec does not mount rootfs (was: typo)

    Hello,
I have an issue with linux-grsec from community, which does correctly detect my cryptsetup root container but after unlocking will not mount it, and thus not boot.
    Here is my setup:
    mkinitcpio.conf
    MODULES="i915 crc32c-intel"
    BINARIES=""
    FILES=""
HOOKS="base udev autodetect modconf block encrypt filesystems keyboard fsck"
    COMPRESSION="xz"
    syslinux.cfg (normal + grsec options)
    LABEL arch
    MENU LABEL Arch Linux
    LINUX ../vmlinuz-linux
    APPEND root=/dev/mapper/crypto-root cryptdevice=/dev/sda2:crypto-root rw acpi_osi="!Windows 2012"
    INITRD ../initramfs-linux.img

I have two images from the boot process, to clarify where I'm stuck at.

I can mount /dev/mapper/crypto-root and access my rootfs from that console manually.
What to do to fix this?

There does not seem anything meaningful for me in the topic you linked. I'm using syslinux not grub/gummiboot, and I don't use EFI/SecureBoot. I used the search function but it is pretty scarce when it comes to the grsecurity patched kernel.
Everything works fine with the standard kernel. It is just linux-grsec that does not mount my rootfs.

  • OWC Mercury ext. drive will not mount via FW 800

    Hi,
I just tried to hook up my OWC Mercury ext. drive to my new Mac Pro via FW 800 on the back panel and the drive will not mount. It does not show up using disk utility. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Try shutting everything down, and unplugging everything for 10-15 minutes.
Then, plug things back in in this order: the external drive firewire cable at both ends; the mac's keyboard and mouse, then the AC power for the mac and the external drive, and lastly, anything else you have hooked up.
Turn on the external drive first, then start up the mac and see if it shows up.

  • Oddball client not mounting XSan Volumes

Background: My client, a TV News broadcast station, had Apple and a third-party design and install a Apple based XSan storage and network. They ran all new fiber and gigabit ethernet to each station to use the XSan. It has been working great, with the exception noted below.
Setup: 2 MD Controllers, 1 XServe, 4 XRaids, each make up two 2 large TB volumes (raid 5, stripped together).
XServe, XRAID, MD controllers, and all clients are all connected together on a Fibre and Fiber Optic network using QLogic switches. SUBNET: 10.200.1.x.
Ethernet Network, also connected all the above together on HP Gigabit Switches. SUBNET: 10.100.1.x The public WAN is made available on this subnet by a connection to the HP switches. Still getting details on how this was done.
Everything is running OS X 10.4.8 or better, XSan File System 1.4.
    Setup
There are 8 workstations (edit bays) that act as infusion and editing stations. Each station has two XSans volumes mounted NEWS01 and NEWS02. They have the odd numbered bays use NEWS01 and the even numbered bays use NEW02.

All bays mount the XSan volumes, except one. FCP08 will not mount the XSan volumes. We have rebooted the workstation, and even went to the extreme of shutting down the entire setup all bays and MD controllers, File Servers, etc.. then bringing everything backup up. Same problem.
Based on some forum discussion, we have tried the following:
    * Ensured that there is no empty mount point in /Volumes
    * Uninstalled all XSan Software and resinstalled v1.4 from Apple's website.
    * Removed the client from the XSan Admin, and readded it, made sure to enter valid serial number, etc..
    * Verified that all fibers are working, all link lights look good, and you can ping across the MD network.
When you use the XSan admin from either FCP08 (edit bay 08) or from the server, and you add both MD XSans to it, you see the client, and you click on the client and click either Mount (read-only) or Mount (Read/write).
It will show "Mounting..." and then it will flip back to "not mounted". The only feedback we have received so far is "ACCESS DENIED". All affinity setting are set to rwxrwxrwx (wide open), and all the volumes and workstation logins all have the same access to the volumes. I can not find any restrictive permissions anywhere.
I plan on trying to move them away from a /etc/hosts type setup to a proper DNS Server running on their XServe using the DNS Server function of OS X Server. But currently all edit bay stations have the same /etc/hosts file installed, which accounts for MD and ethernet networks.
ANY IDEAS what is wrong with this workstation? With the setup?
I have had extreme ideas from some who have said that we need to blitz the entire client, and reinstall the operating system. I am not willing to go down that route, since each edit bay was built manually without an image (another aspect I will remedying soon). It will take sometime to rebuild this edit bay client if I that is the only solution.
The only this question I have if that is the popular opinion, is what is different from a client OS install and the existing one regarding the XSan? This are edit bays, not private workstations, and no one installs any extra software or surfs the net, etc.. They are used for ingest and editing only.
    HELP!
      Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    Hi,
You could check if it is Fibre Channel related:
    from a terminal do a cvlabel -l
this should give you a list of the lun's in your volume.
When this tool does not show luns, you might have a zoning issue.
    Regards
    Donald
