2 out of 3 Mac computers cannot find Extreme base station

I have a new airport extreme. I'm using it In bridge mode as it's connected to existing wireless network. I want to use it to extend the very limited range of our wireless network.
We have 3 Apple computers, a new imac, a previouis generation imac and a macbookpro.
I set up the airport extreme configuration to bridge mode using the macbook pro.
However the other 2 computers cannot even find the extreme base station even if sat alongside it...
Do I need to change any settings on the other two computers to allow them to find the extreme?
Thanks

Stevanvf, Welcome to the discussion area!
Configure the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) to connect to your ISP via PPPoE.
Configure the AEBS to share a single IP address.
Configure all of your computers so that PPPoE is disabled and instead use DHCP to get an IP address from the AEBS.

  • Airport Utility cannot find AX base station

I can see that this is unfortunately a widespread problem, but I wonder if anyone has found a solution. I am running a wireless network with Airport Extreme and iMac (and several Windows laptops). Most of the time it's fine, but twice have I encountered that after shutting off modem and AX that the airport utility cannot find base station even though it is sitting right next to iMac. Also, all lights are solid green, both on modem and AX. I can find loads of other wireless networks, just not my own. No combination of resetting, restarting or reconnecting seems to do the trick and it get's very frustrating! If anyone has a solution, let me know.
    Thanks!

Have youi tried maybe running an Ethernet cable from the AX to the Base Station to establish the connection and then removing it (or reconfiguring the wireless network) ?

  • D I need the firewall on in my Mac when using Airport extreme base station?

    Hi all;
Just wondering if it's necessary to turn on the firewall in my Mac when using the AEBS.
AEBS is connected to the net and then my Mac connects to AEBS.
    There's already a firewall built-in as I understand it.
    Thanks.

The operation of NAT and DHCP on the AEBS will prevent someone from the Internet directly accessing your Mac.
Enabling the firewall on your Mac would add some protection against someone local wirelessly accessing your Mac.

  • Airport Utility cannot find my Extreme base station but everything works!

I must be going crazty, but I can't figure this one out. I've had my Extreme and Express configured since November of 2007. Airport Utility would always find them and let me look at the configuration. I don't believe that anything major has changed on my laptop. Today I went to run Airport Utility and it cannot find my 2 stations. Again, everything is working, I can surf the net, from various laptops throughout my house.
I had to do a factory reset to the extreme, and thankfully I remembered the 10.0.1.1/public and was able to reload a baseconfig I had. After this I still couldn't find the extreme nor the express with Airport Utility.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Why would Airport Utility stop finding my stations?
    Any help would be amazing.
    Thanks,
    Frank

My Airport utility cannot find my base station either, and I can't print. But I can access the Internet!
The base station just "vanished" one day after working perfectly for about two months. I first discovered this when I was unable to print - I began troubleshooting by entering the utility, only to discover the base station was not listed.
I finally deleted my networking settings in Vista, and then did a factory reset on the Aiport Extreme. I then set everything up from scratch again to successful resolution.
Then again one day a short time after that, it vanished again! In frustration, I disconnected Airport and put it away. I tried setting up a new Dlink I purchased to replace the Airport, but the Dlink didn't work either!!! Dlink tech support couldn't fix the problem and suggested I get my money back. I then, as a last ditch attempt, reconnected the Airport. It automatically found the base station without me doing anything besides just hooking it back up!
It worked for about two weeks and now it vanished again! The utility upgrade released the other day has not fixed this problem. I guess I'll delete networking connections again in Vista, and do a factory reset to Airport again.
I guess Airport and Vista just don't play well together.

  • Airport utility cannot find Extreme nor Express, but internet is working?

I have an airport extreme base station and and airport express (as a wireless extender and media speakers)
When my iMac wakes up from sleep, airport utility cannot find any devices.
    - internet works as usual
    - airplay doesn't work (via my ipod or my iphone)
    - apple TV 2 can't find the itunes library.
    - in system preferences -> network - my network seems to be all ok and when I turn off airport and on again, both devices suddenly appear in the airport utility. But when the iMac goes to sleep, same problem happens.
    - I have made ensured that my network is the preferred network but still the problem persists.
as the internet is working, there doesn't appear to be a problem. However, when airplay and apple TV are not working properly, this is a problem!
    Grateful for any help. Thanks.

  • Windows Vista trouble finding airport base station

I recently bought an AirPort Extreme 802.11n. It was easily able to connect it to my mac, but when I try to connect it to my Windows Vista desktop computer, the base station in the airport utility software cannot be found. It finds the internet from the base station, but when I try to connect to it, it says windows cannot connect to the internet. I set up a linksys wi-fi usb, but it still cannot find the base station. The pc is only two years old. Please help.

I had the same trouble with my Vista pc. I had set it up on the Airport Extreme network, but did a firmware update and lost the PC connection. I rolled it back to the previous version, but it was still intermittent or not seeing the Airport at all. I went in to the Airport Utility and changed the Channel setting from Automatic to Manual and selected another channel. This worked and my PC could see the network OK and connect.
I'm still having trouble connecting to my MAC from the Vista Pc, but I can connect to the Vista from my MAC. Both can see the network/internet OK.

  • Error -6753 when trying to find my base station

I'm working off a Dell computer with a wireless card in it, and it can't find my Airport Extreme Base Station. I've tried going to "File" and selecting Configure Other..., but when I put in the IP address and the password for the base station it gives me the Error -6753.
What is this error and how do I get my PC to recognize my wireless base station? It's been configured on my mac and to all appearances it's working perfectly, but I just can't get the PC to connect to it wirelessly. HELP!

    Some additional information:
The desktop currently "running" the airport express is a Mac Intel Mini and it's hard-wired into the base station so it's not having any issues connecting (wirelessly at least).
The Dell is approximately 4-5 years old, running Windows XP SP2 and the Airport Utility loaded straight from the disk that came with the Airport Extreme. The Dell is using a 2Wire wireless card that previously had no problems on two Linksys and 2Wire Homeportal wireless systems that were set up in my house and where I worked. The Mac Mini also worked on the 2Wire home system previously.
I can get the mac mini to find the base station and the wireless network created by it (using WPA/WPA2) and connects perfectly fine. Neither the Dell's network connections nor the airport utility on the Dell are finding the base station's network, and no amount of rescanning finds it. The base station is working fine to all appearances.
I'm going to try downloading the Utility from the Apple website today at school but that's not going to help me until I get home at 5pm. Help!

  • Unable to find the base station

for some reason the signal on my airport express was being inconsistent so i reset it and i want to reconfigure it, but the airport set up assistant is telling me that it cannot find the base station, even though it can find the express and i can connect to the internet. i've tried unplugging it, resetting it again, and i keep getting the same error message.

the airport set up assistant is
telling me that it cannot find the base station,
even though it can find the express
Do you have two Airports - an Express and an Extreme base station? How is your Internet coming into the network? Where is your router? More details please!

    4mccarthys,
If you are certain that iCal is no longer present on your computer...
    To reinstall iCal:
    1. Insert the Leopard Installation disk into the computer.
    2. The disk will appear on the desktop.
    3. Double click on the "Optional Installs" folder.
    4. Double click on the "Optional Installs.mpkg."
    5. Click on (Continue) in Introduction.
    6. Click on (Continue) in Software License Agreement.
    7. Click on (Agree) to agree to the terms of the software license agreement.
    8. Click on the disclosure arrow ▶ next to Applications.
    9. Select (✓) iCal.
    10. Click (Continue).
    11. After iCal has been reinstalled, download and install the Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update to bring iCal up to the most recent version.

  • I have a uk mac, i cannot find the 'at' key on the keyboard

sometimes my @ key works, sometimes it does not. I have parallel installed, when I access quickbooks within windows, then the @ key will not respond so I cannot enter email addresses within quickbooks on my mac pro

So, your problem is not, "i have a uk mac, i cannot find the 'at' key on the keyboard", but, "the @ key does not work in Quicken Win, which I run under Parallels". If that is your problem, then first check if it works with other Win applications (eg, NotePad). If it does, then the problem is with Quicken -- check the Quicken docs, support KB, or support forum. If it doesn't (but it does work with Mac apps), check Parallels docs, support KB, or support forum.

  • Mac book cannot find airport extreme base station

    Hi
Basicly, the airport utility cannot "discover" the base station. Ever so occasionally it finds it but when i click on continue it says "there was an error connecting to the network"
I have tried restarting the airport extreme several times.
    Please help!!
    Tom

Have you tried doing a hard reset of the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS)?
Have you tried temporarily connecting to the AEBS via Ethernet to configure the AEBS?

  • Airport Extreme Base Station cannot see with Macs

Out of the blue my Macs are experiencing a problem seeing the base station network. I can see it with my iPhone. I have a PowerMac G5 duel core 2 Ghz and cannot see the base station or it is sporadic. System says that the airpot card is recognized on my G5. Other Macs on network experiencing the same issue. Tried turning everything off and restarting. This only works part of the time.
I am on Cox cable service using the modem then the airport. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help in advance.

    Hi Max,
    Let's start from the beginning,
The ethernet from the modem should be wired to the Wan port of the Airport...
On page 28 of the users manual it says if the light flashes amber you should unplug the power of the modem, wait a few seconds and power up the modem.
I presume you installed the Airport utility from the disk that came with the Airport?
For more information about the reason the light flashes
Open AirPort Utility, select your base station, and then choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu. ClickBase Station Status to display information about the flashing light
Here is a link to the Manual  CLICK HERE
I was hoping to find out more about the Airport utility to see what's it's capable of doing...

  • How do I open the same ports on an Airport Extreme Base Station for multiple computers at the same time?

    As the title suggests...
I have a mix of five Mac and PC's at home using an Airport Extreme Base Station as the router.   I need many ports opened on the AEBS for all of the computers- not just one computer.  (for example: three people want to play TF2 on Steam at the same time; each machine needs the correct ports open on the router).   Port forwarding  only allows me to forward a given port to a single IP, yet I need that port open for five differnt IP's, all at the same time.
How do I do that on an AEBS?
In the same way, I have a small office of four iMacs using an old airport with the same exact issue.   I would like to be able to connect to all of them remotely with Apple Remote Desktop, but the port forwarding on the airport only allows a port to forward to a single IP.   I want to be able to tunnel into the office network and log onto any machine behind the Airport extreme... not just a single IP.    I currently have it set up where I can tunnel into the office from my house, I can find the one machine that the port forwarding has been assigned to, I can log on and everything is just fine... with one machine.    How do I open the firewall for the other machines?
TL,DR version:  How do you open ports on an Airport Extreme Base Station instead of forwarding ports?   Forwarding ports doesn't work for multiple IP's.

You can open a single or multiple ports to a single device or different ports to different devices, but you cannot open the same port to multiple devices via the AirPort Utility for the Apple routers.
