2 people editing 1 calendar?

Hello fellow iCal users!
Can anybody shed some light?
All I want to do is to have 2 people in different locations to be able to edit the same calendar without using the .Mac account. I don't want to sync all my calendars, just specific ones! Why have Apple made this sooooo difficult to do?
As you are not able to do it using the tools Apple have provided, I have had to use alternative measures. I use an application called XC Connect, (xcnetwork.com) and in theory, this is supposed to be the solution.
However, it isn't! It is able to give 2 (or how ever many to want) people editable access to a particular iCal calendar or Address Book, but it is not reliable. Rather than not being able to edit a calendar, I am now in a predicament where the I do not know if calendar I am editing is correct or not, because 'XC Connect' keeps syncing incorrect information!
Now, question. Does any body out there have an idea or know of an application that will allow me to do the above?
I have done a google search but came up with nothing. There are plenty of apps out there, that lets you share, but I need to be able to edit too!
Any help would be much appreciated, especially people who have used or are using XC Connect, as it seems to be the only app out there!!
Many thanks
Col

I have posted this elsewhere in this forum as I want to bring this to as many people as possible.
I just discovered (FINALLY) a relatively new app that allows local Syncing via Tiger's Sync Services that does what I think your looking for. This is NOT publish and subcribe, but actually syncing of live iCals across users on one machine OR across a network or the internet using Tiger's Sync Services.
MySync is the program and I installed it yesterday and it really works. (I am not associated with the software or its company, just a long time Mac user sharing my discovery of what could be a killer app! It also states it can sync the Mac addressbook among other things.
I now have 4 live editable calendars all syncing on 3 macs! and ALL are editable on all machines. Amazing.
Hope this leads you in the right direction.
I also publish to a webDav server using phpiCalendar for remote viewing, although now that is redundant except for viewing on a PC, because my Mac laptop can remote sync with editing capabilities (once I upgrade it to Tiger)
Hope this heps,
Jamy

Have the project, events and media on one drive which is common to both macs.
You can download FCP X to both macs using the same Apple ID that it was purchased with.

  • Since installing OS5 and iCloud, I can no longer edit calendar entries on iPhone 4.

Yesterday I installed OS5 and iCloud on my iPad, MacBook Pro and iPhone 4. I am able to edit calendar entries (old or new) on both the iPad and MacBook Pro. PROBLEM: there is no longer the option to edit calendar entires on my iPhone 4. I have checked under list, day and month viewing options.
Event details can be viewed but the button to edit is not appearing.
Most (if not all) of my calendar entires were created on my iPhone 4.
If I create a new calendar entry on the phone, I can edit it... but I think once there's a sync the edit option will again disappear. Waiting to confirm that.
I saw a posting about a year ago indicating this had happened before and was due to some mismatched account information, but I've checked each of my products and they all seem to have the same iCloud email and password information.
Is this a glitch or am I missing something? What do I need to change or adjust to be able to again edit calendar entries on my phone?
    Please help. It's my lifeline.

If it happens again then try some basic steps like these:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • After iOS5 upgrade, iPod touch 2nd gen won't let me edit calendar events

I have an iPod touch 2nd gen with the old processor, so I'm stuck using iOS 4.2.1 on the touch.
Meanwhile, I have a MacBook and new iPad running Lion/iOS 5.
Before I upgraded to iOS 5, I could edit calendar events from either my macbook or from my Touch.  Now, I can't edit calendar events on the Touch, and when I add new ones from the Touch, the options are restricted (e.g., I can't designate which calendar the item belongs to).
Please help!  This functionality is very important to me because I take the Touch to work, but not my other mac devices, so I need to be able to edit on the go.
    Thanks,
    Carl

  • Can not edit Calendar Items on iPhone 4 that were sent from Outlook 2013

    Hi Folks,
When receiving a calendar item from Outlook 2013, I can accept it, but not edit it. When I receive the same item from Outlook 2003, I can accept AND edit.
How can I edit calendar items sent from Outlook 2013?
We are not using an Exchange server, simply sending the calendar items via email. We noticed this when we upgraded our office from MS Office 2003 to 2013.
Thank you so much for your help!

Are you sure the Outlook 2013 calendar entries are set set to shared?

  • Cannot edit calendar events on iphone

Cannot edit calendar events on iphone with most of the calendars, one personal calendar has the Edit button available but only on a few events--not all. We hosting the calendars through an ical server, running OSX 10.5.8.
The software is up to date on the computer and on the iphone. Any ideas how to get the edit feature to appear?

The edit feature was working correctly with the calendars and stopped. Performed a sync through iTunes removing syncing preferences first. Did not resolve the issue. I am considering restoring the iphone.

  • Two or more people editing at the same time

    Dear All,
I am planning to purchase FCP Server, and I am just in a very beginning of consideration.
Immediately, I am wondering if FCP Server can let two or more people editing on the same project at the same time.
I know it has Check-in function, and it seems to me that it just takes the project to another computer to do editing. What if another person wants to do editing on the same project?
Also, if it allows us many people to do editing on the same project, can we save the project at the same time on the same computer installed FCP Server?
    Please advise.
    Many thanks in advance.
    King

In Final Cut Server (FCSvr) checking out a Final Cut Pro project (FCProj) creates a copy of the project file at a location you specify saving it to on your local computer. When you check out a FCProj, the project asset is locked and cannot be modified by other users. Additionally, every media asset that is used in the project is locked from being modified by other users.
However in a you're trying to have multiple users work on and edit the same project, I'd suggest start by duplicating the FCProj asset within FCSvr. Maybe start with a master capture / digitize project that contains all the media needed to work on by both editor. This will allow for multiple editors to have access to the same project media assets. In any scenario where multiple editors are collaborating, I'd suggest have them also work on separate project file and maybe split / divi up the work, based on scene, act etc.
Sequences can be easily merge between project later.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to edit "calendar" field of events with invitees

I am having a couple problems with the "calendar" drop-down field on calendar events.
This is on a 4S, iOS5, syncing calendars with iCloud.
If I create an event with an "invitee" (or add an invitee to an existing event), I can no longer change the "calendar" field of that event.  In fact, the "calendar" drop-down doesn't even appear on the iPhone calendar app's "Edit" dialog for events that have an invitee.  I can still change it via the web interface at www.icloud.com, and the change is even pushed to the iPhone.  But on the iPhone itself, I cannot find a way to change the "calendar" field on an event that contains one or more "invitees".
Second, if I receive an "invitation" from someone else, I cannot find a way specify which of my calendars I want the event on when accepting it.  I would expect it to go to the calendar I have defined as "default" in Settings, but it seems instead to go to the last calendar I created.  And after accepting it, I cannot change it because the "Edit" dialog doesn't display the "calendar" field, as mentioned above.  Again, I can change it via the web interface at www.icloud.com, but cannot find a way to change it directly on the iPhone.
Am I missing some way to edit/change the "calendar" field of an event with invitees?  Or to select which calendar I want events to be on when I "accept" invitations from others?

I have the same problem.  I recently updated to iOS5 and set up syncing through iCloud.
I was able to add one event into my iphone calendar app, but for the next event that I tried to add, there was no longer the option to choose a calendar and when I tried to add it by tapping "Done," an error message came up: "No calendar is set". and there was no way to select a calendar.
I was able to add the event on my Google Calendar on my laptop (PC), and it synced automatically, but I wasn't able to add any events from the iphone itself because "no calendar is set".
I tried turning off and on the phone and syncing back to my laptop, but the problem persisted.
I deleted the iCloud account on my iphone, and that seemed to fix the problem; I'm able to add events again from the iphone and it's syncing to my Google Calendar.
I then signed on to iCloud and setup syncing again, but turned off syncing everything except photostream, documents&data, and find my iphone since everything else would sync to outlook or internet explorer, neither of which I use.
That might have been the problem.  For PC, iCloud will only sync to Outlook and Internet Explorer, and I don't have Outlook setup (can't connect to my work's email server with my account and the IT guys don't know how to fix it or they're too lazy to troubleshoot) and I only use Firefox and Chrome.  Since iCloud isn't syncing to any calendars on Outlook, there aren't any calendars set...
I just did this a minute ago and everything seems to be back to normal, including the ability to choose a calendar when adding events.
I'll have to see if it the problem comes back

  • How can I edit calendar reminders that still pop up from old .mac account?

Can anyone help me?  I have 3 repeating, pop-up calendar items from my old.mac calendar that can not be edited in any way.  I can't get to them to delete them.  The calendar items do not show up in any other calendar, including icloud.

thanks for the feed back - that sounds a bit involved - have retrieved the files and placed them in a folder on my desktop - will have them if they are ever needed, excepted that I will have to look at them individually as all the names are EMLX.

  • How to edit Calendar events?

If i am invited to an event i get an email with the .ics attachment. I add it to my calender and then accept the invite.
If the times are then changed i get another email with the new times on the email and a new .ics attachment.
The new .ics attachment on the email update still has the old times on it (and if the times were new i still cannot do anything with the attachment - there are no options to put it in my calendar).
I cannot edit the original calendar event to the new times.
I cannot delete the old event without declining it first.
Even if i could delete the old event with the old times i then have to make my own calendar event  (which then doesn't link in with the organisers event and doesn't show my attendance).
Why does my calender event not update automatically once the revised times have been emailed to me?
I have "shared calendar alerts" enabled but all it does is send me an email about modifications, i cannot edit the actual event anywhere.
Am i doing something wrong? have i missed something?
    Thanks

You don't say what it is you want to change, but if you simply want to consolidate:
Select a calendar in the list, choose file>export.
Select file>import, choose the file, and select the destination calendar. (The destination calendar can be one which you sync with Google Calendar.)
When you're happy all is where you want it, delete the original calendars.
As always, take a backup before you start - just in case!

  • LDAP people edit - how to

Given the issue with Shared Contacts, I was looking for a way to edit the LDAP based Shared Contacts myself with a third party tool, so I could fix them to work with Apple's Address Book and Thunderbird Address Book.
I have found very few tools that could authenticate with a default Open Directory set up - mainly because the client needs to be able to authenticate with SASL, and handle CRAM-MD5 challenge responses.
The one LDAP editor I found that works is Apache Directory Studio - http://directory.apache.org/studio/
Once installed, the settings are basically (assuming your Leopard server is yamato.internal):
    *Network Parameter*
    Hostname: yamato.internal
    Port: 389
Encryption: <No encryption or SSL depending on your setup>
    Authentication
    Authentication Method: CRAM-MD5 (SASL)
Bind DN or User: <Your username>
    Bind Password: <Your password>
    *Browser Options*
    Base DN: cn=people,dc=yamato,dc=internal
    All other defaults.
Then you can connect, and browse to entries. You can edit the entries and save them.
This means you can, for example, find apple-emailcontacts for example, and replace with mail attributes.
You could even use it as a crude way to enter Shared Contacts, by creating a template entry, and using that for new entries. Not pretty, but at least will give you correct attributes for LDAP Address Book searches.
Hope that comes in useful to someone searching these forums for answers.

    Hey Murdoch,
First of all, are you even able to search your LDAP tree ( via ldapsearch ) ?
Does browsing the tree require authentication or have you left it open ?
Are you able to authenticate via LDAP ?
Does "getent passwd" return a listing of your LDAP users ?
Do you receive any error messages during your boot sequence regarding udev or netfs ?
Do you receive an error message when attempting to start udev manually ?
Have you checked your log files ?

  • 2 MobileMe accounts desire 1 EDITABLE calendar

My wife and I have a family MobileMe account with our own usernames and computers. How can we use ONE calendar that BOTH of us can EDIT? Publishing a calendar does not allow the other user to edit. And if my wife logs in to her computer with her MobileMe account, her calendar cannot directly edit a calendar in my account.
Is there a way for my wife to log in to (and then edit) an iCal MobileMe user account other than her own?

Create a calendar then "publish" it. The other person can "subscribe" to the published calendar, but won't be able to edit.
You should create a calendar on each account then publish them both. You will both need to subscribe to the others calendar.

  • Can't edit calendar event

I am unable to edit start and end times for new events I've created in Calendar. The new events come in starting at NOON and ending at 1PM. No amount of tapping will alter them.
    I've restarted to no avail.
    Anyone else have this issue?

OK. Problem solved. A case of "intuitive" interface meets non-intuitive user.

  • Can't Edit Calendar Entries

Hi, just wondering if I've done something stupid.
I've just purchased iPAD and upgraded to current OS after connecting to iTunes. All mail accounts and calendars have been sync'd to the IPAD but I can't seem to edit any calendar entries, such as changing a date or time of an appointment.
I either have to make the changes on my iPhone or desktop machine. I recently upgraded all my calendars so they are now at [email protected] but the iPhone has coped with this seamlessly. But I cannot make changes to calendar entries on the iPAD.
As always, I'd be grateful for any thoughts or help.
    Regards,

    Hi,
Try a different tab in the menu. I'm using "Day" and able to get to the Edit window. Try Week, Month, or List... see if that makes a difference.
I recently upgraded all my calendars so they are now at [email protected] but the iPhone has coped with this seamlessly.
So your MobileMe account is syncing.

  • Problem Editing Calendar Information?

I use the Calendar app extensively on the iPad, modifying the name and description of events, as part of my business. I've noticed that when I'm editing an entry, especially the name of the event, sometimes what I type disappears, and I have to start over. Usually I'm successful on the second attempt. This happens only in Calendar. I'm assuming it's a software glitch, but I see no other mention of this problem in the forum. Any thoughts?

Please go to www.apple.clm/feedback and let them know. I have had an issue in numbers of about the same thing, might not be related but you never know.
