2 plugin-containers appear after Recent History Cleared and with Flash disabled.

Running Firefox 4, Windows XP and Shockwave Flash 10.2.153.1
With Shockwave Flash disabled, 2 plugin-container.exe processes appear in Windows Task Manager when I clear Recent History from Firefox. Why? These processes do not go away.

Clicking "Clear Recent History" in Firefox 4.0 triggers several instances of "plugin-container.exe" which can be seen in Task Manager. The memory usage is about 100MB. It sometimes takes 20-30 seconds for the CRH box to disappear as the computer whirs away in obvious distress.
System info:
WinXP Home Edition, SP3, 32-bit
Firefox 4.0
Firefox add-ons: NoScript, AdBlock Plus, CookieCuller

Your Mini (running 10.6.4) should have come with grey-colored install disks. Now is the time to put them into service. Turn on your computer so that there is power to accept disk #1 into the optical drive. Once the disk is in the drive, shut off the computer by holding the start button down until it powers off. Then turn it on this time holding down the "C" key to make the computer boot from the disk. The question mark that you saw indicates that the computer cannot find a bootable volume. This can happen due to corrupted system files or an improper shutdown etc. Once you are in the "Installer" you can choose Disk Utility from the Utilities Menu in the menu bar. Use it to repair the disk and to see if that can solve your trouble.

        The API works correctly when I complete the wizard, but after I exit labview and re-start labview to run the API again. The error 1097 code "......this might corrupted LABVIEW's memory.............."appears.
        The only solution now is to re-generate or update the wizard to generate the API.

But it doesn't match my case. Does someone have idea about this? I Attach my .h file for reference

Which of the 2 functions do you call? How?
The documentation of InitSocketEx() seems to indicate reversed parameter order than what the function prototype looks like!
I indeed do not see much possibilities to pass in to small a buffer that the DLL function might be overwriting past the end. This really only leaves one more possibility:
Your DLL is doing something largely illegal somehow. Maybe something as silly as storing the reference to the ipAdress instead of the address itself. The memory passed as parameters into a C function is generally only valid for the duration of the call. This is especially true if you use LabVIEW since LabVIEW will re- and deallocate memory buffers frequently as soon as they are not used anymore and the parameter to a Call Library node is considered to not be required anymore after the function returns.

My card is mobility radeon hd 5700, I'm running on x86_64 system. I'm using aticonfig generated xorg.conf. I will provide any other information if needed.
I've tried:
- to downgrade to catalyst 12.8 and xorg 1.12 (screen just freezes after trying to get to X, only poweroff button works (system catches the signal and shuts down softly - no errors in Xorg.0.log))
- to use catalyst-total 13.1 / catalyst-generator 13.1 (Xorg.0.log says something about *not* compatible module - i can try it again and give you the whole log, it is probably another problem)
- to use open-source drivers (poor performance, overheating)
- to check nomodeset option (present at all kernel images in generated grub.cfg)
Unfortunately, I could not find any similar issue solved in past few days...

Downgrading kernel to 3.7.4 actually worked for catalyst 13.1. Anyone knows what could be wrong for linux 3.7.5?
Edit: catalyst-test 13.2 beta works with linux 3.7.4.

Plugin login appears after initial weblogic everytime applet makes http request

When I visit a page I get the initial login to the page via the realm followed
by a java plugin loging (shown in attached pictures) every time the applet makes
an http request. This stops the applet working, any idea how I can solve this?

When you added your contact details in the contact app did you fill in the fields correctly. For example in contacts where it says "first" did you enter a number instead of a name?

Apple TV after recent update has problems with Hulu Fall 2014 shows

In specific, ONCE Season 4 from ABC. The shows play about 15-17 minutes, up to the 2nd commercial - which fails almost immediately, the screen goes black and nothing. (I did find that the SUBTITLES come through - of all things.) If you try and re-start the episode with RESUME PLAYING, you'll just stare at a blank screen for ever.
I have notified HULU of this issue with their content - other shows (like Agents of Shield) play fine, just not ONCE Season 4.
Obviously, something is broken and needs to be fixed.
**** Update **** The problem seems to be caused by the subtitles. Turning the sub-Titles off seems to work-around the problem.

i dont have an ipad but ive had problems also, streaming music from my itunes off my macbook to my appleTV so i after seeing all these itunes 11 problems, im starting to think its the new itunes cuz my airplay was working fine until i updated also.

Never appears after restoring...and doesn't appear to allow reinstall

My ipod is a cute little thing but it is not happy. Once before I needed to reinstall it. My colleagues did it for me and then everything was good.
Now...I live far away from anyone with an ipod and I have a poor internet connection. I plugged the ipod in to upload different music (hard drive and I-Tunes on work computer with lan) and although it had been working perfectly Itunes suggested restoring. I accepted. It went through the process and then after the 15 seconds never popped up. The screen went to the apple window, to about 2 seconds of a screen asking about language, and then to "do not disconnect". About 15 seconds later, Itunes again said it had found an ipod in need of restoration. I must have gone through this cycle 25 times in the last week.
When unplugged (only when I shut down as I can't eject), the ipod seems as though it would work, but I can't get music onto it to check.
I did change the drive path to move it from a LAN space...no luck.
I looked up reinstalling but the directions require Itunes to recognise the Ipod, which it only does in time to suggest restoring it. I can't figure out how to do the reinstall, although it worked last time.
Please help - I live in eastern DRC and just bought a Bose speaker thing to allow music in my bedroom. I have tried to buy a new Ipod but they won't send to Kenya or DRC even if I pay insurance...you would be saving my sanity to get this to work again.

or something like that.

The wireless network appears to have been compromised and will be disabled

I have been getting this message from time to time since I purchased my Airport about a month ago, I think in total I have received it 3-4 times. The reason it is interesting is because the behavior is similar to some other posts about dropped connections.
They symptoms are I will be surfing along and suddenly I get no data at all, it just stops dead. If I have an active application that is trying to pull live data like PC Anywhere I will tend to get the above message. If I don't then no message but I have to turn off my Airport NIC in my laptop and turn it back to reconnect.
I have found that by going into my Airport Utility and under Wireless Options changing the WPA Group Key Timeout to a longer period the problem has been mitigated. It is still a problem overall but at least the chance is only every 8 hours instead of every 1-2 hours.
To improve security WPA changes encryption keys from time to time and my theory is that either the Airport base station or the Airport NIC card have problems with this procedure.
One thought is that the Airport NIC misses the change and thus is still trying to send data using the old key. I don't know how this could happen, maybe it is going to sleep for a short period?? This would go along with the disconnect and reconnect working though.
Another thought is that whatever method is being used to detect a security compromise during the exchange of new encryption keys in the WPA standard is way too sensitive and is thus deciding to lock all users out for the mandatory minute. This would explain why people seem to get it with D-link routers etc. Maybe after the minute things just don't negotiate properly, maybe this was by design for security?
Has anyone played with the different encryption schemes? I am currently using WPA/WPA2 Personal. I am guessing that WEP won't have this issue because it doesn't use rolling keys. I wouldn't use WEP though because it can be cracked in ~1 minute. I know users have reported that no security works fine but I can't use this as I don't live on a 100 acre farm. Is WPA2 any better?

I also switched to 5GHz N only mode at the same time. I see some other posts that indicate this helps.
Maybe other 2.4 GHz traffic is being mis-read as a hack attempt and the wireless is shutting down??
This is still better than the Netgear I had, when it stopped traffic both the wired and wireless were dead and there were no errors. I couldn't even access the config page.

N8 Dead After taking a picture and Camera Flash!!

yesterday i took a picture from my n8...everything was working fine upto then

Yes I'm having the same problems. Taking pictures, then only seeing faint squares on the camera roll, with not pictures. When trying to raise photo, camera goes back to setting. This is my 4th Iphone, first one I purchased, took 100 pictures and downloaded them on a Dell Laptop, then faint squares on Camera roll showed up, taking it back to an Apple store in Louisville, Ky, getting a new phone, doing the same thing to a second party, another 100 photos, downloaded them, and again no pics, just empty squares, then I sent it to Apple, got a loaner service phone, and loaner phone wouldn't take pictures either, got a brand new phone from Apple service, invoice saying "replaced with new unit", and it again would not take pictures. 4 phones, and two service phones, and the last one a brand new phone from Apple service direct to my ole Indiana home, and still it doens't take and then store pictures, does just what the other phones have done, nothing different, still doesn't work, still doesn't take pictures, still not I wanted, and I'm going to keep trying. Why does Firefox sometimes still tell me that I have cache to clear in the Advanced tab of the Options menu after I completely clear it using Clear Recent History?

I always have the time range in the Clear Recent History window set to "Everything", too.

While I didn't know about the about:cache page, it doesn't help me understand why Firefox is doing this, and how to fix it. Also, as I said in my question, I already knew about the cache information in the Advanced tab of the Options menu. I was trying to imply that I sometimes have to clear it using both the Clear Recent History feature and in the Advanced tab of the Options menu, because using Clear Recent History doesn't delete it all.

Extra plugin container appearing and using loads of CPU

Ok so i have the latest version of Firefox installed, but for some reason occasionally i am getting two plugin containers appearing. And one of them then starts using over 50% of the CPU causing the fans on my rig to start thrashing like crazy. Any ideas how to fix this?

Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk. You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Repair reports and if DU was able to repair them. This could just be a start in repairs and you may need a better utility to finish the job.
Then Repair Permissions.
No need to report any Permissions errors........we all get them.

Coldfusion 64 bit windows installer stops working after recent microsoft update

Coldfusion 64 bit windows installation stops working after recent microsoft updates and how I worked around it.
My question is at the end.
Trying to deploy coldfusion 9 enterprise 64 bit trial version onto a Windows 2003 64 bit datacenter OS with all OS updates from MS (as of 4-7-2011).
Steps taken (remember, this is all 64 bit):
1. Installed the base OS which was slipstreamed with SP2.
2. Checked w/ microsoft and installed 63 OS updates.
3. Launch the CF9 trial exe.
4. As soon as the first screen finishes (the one that looks like it is extracting files) then the second screen pops up (the one that simply says CF Adobe Coldfusion 9) and the progress bar quickly moves 95% to the right and the install application quits. No error, no nothing. No log file either.
5. After a moment of incredulous silence (and retrying/rebooting, etc), I started to google it. I found nothing. However, I did find a post (thanks dspent!) that was helpful in that it told how he was able to get at a log file of sorts, by pre-extracting the coldfusion_9_WWE_win64.exe file and launching the adobe_cf.exe by hand. (Dspent's install snafu was different than mine, but his post was very valuable and got me started in the right direction.)
6. Got a copy of rarunzipper and extracted the coldfusion_9_WWE_win64.exe file.
7. From the windows directory created by step 6, I launched adobe_cf.exe.
8. Same thing (the install application quits. No error, no nothing. No log file either.).
9. I examine the hs_err_pidxxxx.log file (where the xxxx is a number).
10. I see inside that file an ominous message: "A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime" then "Problematic frame ntdll.dll" and then "The crash happened outside the Java Virtual Machine in native code".
11. OK, so now I am thinking ntdll.dll !! Native code !! It is like Java is telling me that for some reason it can't dance with the OS.
12. On a hunch, I decided to test a CF install again on a server with just the base install of W3K3 64 SP2 (ie: skipping step 2 above this time).
13. Bingo! That install works.
14. Therefore, one of the 63 patches I had downloaded from MS had triggered a problem with the CF installer.
15. Back on the first server (the one with the MS security patches installed and the one that CF won't install on). In the CF file adobe_cf.lax (one of the files extracted in step 6) there is a line that mentions where the install gets it's java. Find that file, and check java version installer is using. It is using 1.6.0_14-b08.
16. Off to the Java website, and there is a newer version of java (1.6.0_24-b07). Downloaded and installed it.
17. Modify a line in adobe_cf.lax :
   before
     lax.nl.current.vm=resource\\jre\\bin\\java.exe
   after
     lax.nl.current.vm=C:\\program files\\java\\jre6\\bin\\java.exe
(that assumes that you let step 16 install to the default location)
Save the file.
18. Run the install ... ** IT WORKS ** !
Obviously, the built in java provided with the CF installer is no longer compatible with some change introduced by some recent MS update on the W2K3 64b SP2 platform.
And now the interesting part. Although I forced the installer to used the new java, it did not incorporate it into the cf build (ie: in jvm.config, you still see c:/coldfusion9/runtime/jre AND the version of java.exe that is in that directory is the original version, not the newer version I forced the installer to use).
On the surface, CF seems to run OK, but I have not done any application testing yet.
And finally my
** QUESTION **
Would it be appropriate to simply point the java.home var to the new java directory? I see that the directory structures and files are not exactly the same (close though) so I certainly don't want to break things by doing this, but instinct tells me that if the installer broke using the older version, then something else is gonna break down the road if I don't use the new version. On the other hand, the differences in the directories and files is enough that it makes me very nervous, with my limitied java skill set, to make this decision.

Wow great post no doubt much of the information will be useful for those on Win03 SP2 +. Have to say not come across similar problem on Win08 r2 SP1 +.
So to your question. Adobe security bulletin (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/894/cpsid_89440.html) recommends running CF8 and CF9 with JVM 1.6.0_24. The bulletin does not say how to do that. I take you installed JDK and not just JRE 1.6.0_24? Post install of JDK follow these steps:
Stop CF - SERVICES.msc stop "ColdFusion 9 Application Server".
Take a copy of CF\runtime\bin\jvm.config - so you got a backup.
Edit CF\runtime\bin\jvm.config find line "java.home=" and comment it out eg:
#java.home=C:/ColdFusion9/runtime/jre
Add new line like so and save jvm.config:
java.home=C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_24/jre
Note there the slashes and the location of the JRE (runtime) - you need to point to the one in JDK because the other JRE in C:\Program Files\Java\jre6 will be missing a DLL.
Start CF via SERVICES.msc.
