2 Questions again (didnt post right)

I just bought a MBP about 2 days and am a new apple convert (very happy with it). However, I was experiencing two problems.
1) I bought some software called LoJack and it sounds great, but when I try to install it, it doesn't load. I tried opening the contents and the "setup" file, but it says it needs flash so I went to find macromedia flash player and installed it through safari, but its not an app (at least it doesn't show up in applications... i know its an app). How can I open flash so I can use LoJack. (stupid question i know, but i cant find a solution)
2) I used bootcamp to install vista (i know... but for me its a must), but vista only shows 3GB in my system when I have 4GB. Some people mentioned on this forum that vista 32-bit edition only supports up to 3 and I would install 64-bit, but theres no drivers for anything ecept the graphics card? Can someone either direct me to the drivers or tell me if Leopard is going to include support for the 64-bit edition of windows.
Thank you in advance! No other company has forums like this (at least officially) and if they do its not even close to being that efficient. Thanks again you guys!

Templeton is incorrect, you can install 64bit vista (or xp) as you have a 64bit cpu and you (like many others) can install that OS. Apple does not provide any 64bit drivers and unlike 32bit drivers Vista will not load an unsigned driver, so you'll have to find signed 64bit drivers on the net. From what I heard that can be frustrating.
Also while xp is 32bit, there is a known issue that only allows it access 3gig. Some people point the finger at Apple and bootcamp and others point it to microsoft. I don't know but I only mention this to tell you its not that you doing anything wrong.
Finally one last word regarding 64bit vista (or 64bit xp) There's little reason to go with 64 bit, driver issues, software issue (mostly games from what I hear) and you only get access to more memory. That is do you want to go through the hassle of installing 64bit vista (searching the net for drivers) just to get 4 gig? For me, it was a no brainer, and 32bit vista works fine.

    I got a new laptop and I cant buy songs because its asking me security questions i didnt set, what do i do, I got a new laptop and I cant buy songs because its asking me security questions i didnt set, what do i do

    If you've never set them then are you able to log into your account via the 'manage your Apple ID' button/link on http://appleid.apple.com, click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of the page that you are taken to, and can you then set them on the right-hand side of that screen ?
    If not then is there a reset link beneath the two questions that show on that screen ? The link will only show if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account.
    If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset.
    Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
    When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down this page to add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312

  • I apologize if this is a repeat -- I can't find if my question has been posted, but all traffic received through SAFARI (but not FIREFOX) quoting prices has the latter in EUROS, not US Dollars. Figures in my outgoing Email appear to the recepient in Dolla

    I apologize if this is a repeat, but I can't tell if my question has been posted.
    For the past several weeks, all incoming traffic via Safari 5.0.5, but not Firefox,containing cost/price figures appear in Euros, not US Dollars. My responses, however, are received correctly in US Dollars. Wierd, and irritating.  Any ideas?

    To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
    Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

    can we send pre-test score (Pre-test question slide) and post test score (Question slide) both in lms from captivate?

    Pretest score normally is not sent to the LMS. However it is stored in a system variable, you could use JS to send it.

  • Where the heck can I find a link to this thread I am posting right now?

    I have clicked about every link on my profile page on this site, and can't find anything about the question I have posted. The only way I can find my way back at all is to save the link in the first place or wait for someone to reply and click the link in that email.
    Clearly something is very wrong here.

    1. You can use the '''My Contributions''' link at the top of a min forum page to access every posting you have made in this forum.
    2. You can highlight the information in the More System Details... window and that copy it to the Clipboard.
    You can view the Installed Plug-ins information in the Add-ons Manager Tab > Plugins and the User Agent info is in Troubleshooting Information.

    Can anyone help???

    Apply a Character style to the tab character—don't try and do it from the Paragraph style. You can stay with a period as the leader and manipulate the size and spread of the dots via the character style. So here I've applied the Leader character style to the tab or the right indent tab and changed the point size and tracking of the style to make a leader with smaller dots and more spacing:

  • Question about Depreciation Posting Run

    I Gurus:
    I have a question about Depreciation Posting Run;  I want to block two active assets for not entry in the Depreciation Posting Run and don´t affected it.
    I try to blocked the fixed asset in AS06 transaction but de active asset is affected in Depreciation Posting Run.
    Could you please help me??
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
    To my limited knowledge, one can deactivate the assets after transfering the value from the to be deactivated asset.
    As per the generally accepted accounting principles, assets with value should have an impact in our financial statment.  In SAP, deactivating assets means, wrongly created assets which will not have any value and will not have impact any of your financial books of accounts.
    I think, you are looking for a functionality, where you do not want to depreciate the assets (ex. Land).  If it is so, you can give the Zero percentage by creating a new dep. key if you are using depreciation key based calculation of depreciation.
    Hope it clears your doubt,
    Regards
    A.Saravanan.

  • Thinkpad T400 reboot after post (right before boot)

    After update bios to 2.03 i noticed, that sometimes my thinkpad reboots after post (right after system booting). First I ignored this issue, because i thought it's caused by vista cd in drive, so i was removing it and everything seemd to be fine. But now i know that this is compleatly cd-independed. It happens in almost every second boot, and is independed on boot priority or boot media (cd, usb, hdd). I tried to downgrade bios to 1.20 and 1.23, but it still happening.
    If anyone know what is going on, please let me know. I'm little stressed.
    I noticed one more think. After change to "diagnostic boot" in bios, after reboot I hear beep, which is clearly longer, than when reboot not occurs.
    Message Edited by lucks on 03-02-2009 02:10 AM

    This is still happening... but I think I've noticed some things.
    I think what the problem is, and I'm sure this'll sound retarded, is Arch is restarting "too quickly". I say this because there are some times when reboot works properly. When this happens, I notice all of the hardware shut completely down for about a second. I hear sort of a "click" indicating to me that discs have stopped and power is off, like the very last sound you hear when you completely shut down a computer. Instead of a blank screen, I can tell the monitor is completely shut off. After about a second of this, everything comes back on, the Thinkpad splash screen appears, and then goes away and I am taken to GRUB. Everything is peachy.
    When the reboot fails to work properly, however, I don't get that total shutdown "feeling".. no click sound, and my screen just goes blank, but not totally off. The Thinkpad splash screen reappears sooner, but this is where I hang and eventually get the error I reported in the original post.
    I hope this additional info helps, as this problem is really annoying.

  • Can I post my same question again?

    I have posted an apple related technical question in the forums and it's already been a week and I have not had any replies. Although it's encouraged for members to look in old threads too, but members very rarely seem to do that. So would it violate the rules of this forum if I posted it again so it would be listed on the first page again? If it does, is there any way I can delete my unanswered question and replace it with a new one? If so, would that also be allowed? If not, can I bundle hyperlinks to my question along with answers I make to other peoples questions? I just want to make sure I don't violate any forum rules. Thanks.

    As ali said, you've only had 3 posts in the past week (actually within the last two days); just in case you didn't know, there are only users just like you volunteering their time trying to help on these forums; you are not addressing your questions to anyone from Apple. So, either someone has not had time to read your question or does not have an answer for your problem. If you want immediate help and are still covered by warranty, you can call Apple, or, if you're no longer under warranty, make an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar for free advice/help.

  • Help cant update...Other didnt post question

    Okay, Lets see if this one works. Sorry for the last post. I am trying to upgrade to the new I tunes on my PC. It downloads and everything but at the end says" file name "program file" has unrecognizable character.
    I did move the I tunes file to my H drive since my cdrive is soooo small. I tunes works fine I just cant get it to update. When moved it and tried to update it said cannot find program file. so I created a program file and moved I tunes into it. now I get the message I said. I changed the name several times to see if I typed something wrong. It will not let me change the update location. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks gregg

    I also have been having this problem consistantly.  I run Mac OS 10.6.8, iTunes 10.5.1, and the only way I could find to get iTunes to upgrade my new iPhone4, was to do it from my laptop, which wiped out all my data. What a pain!!!  But now I can't get it to take once I re-synch with my main computer-  still will not upgrade.
    I had this trouble repeatedly with my earlier 3GS at times and it was so damned frustrating.
    Does anyone have any clue as to why this is happening?
    I also tried all the help sections from Apple.  like unplugging every GD USB device from my computer... and then trying to do the upgrade...  no luck!
    Hope someone comes up with a fix for this BUG!

  • Part II of question posted right before this one

    The movie I'm making is of still photos that I've scanned in. I'm not importing anything from my camcorder.

    Wow, totally disgusted by FF support. THERE IS NONE. At least I used to get some answer, now NONE. FF Fail.
    I sent you a COMPLETE crash report, and you don't even reply. So unprofessional.

  • Thanks bschauwe, but more questions on your post...

    You said in a helpful reply to my post:
    public class TestDataObject {
    public void setX(int val) {
    this.x = val;
    public int getX() {
    return this.x;
    }Your native methods take one of these objects as a parameter, or return one of these objects.
    public class Test {
    public native void setTestData(TestDataObject obj);
    public native TestDataObject getTestData();
    }The TestDataObject constructor, getter, and setter methods can all be invoked with JNI (C)
    code. In other words, to return the test data, you
    o use JNI to call the TestDataObject constructor.
    o Use JNI to call the setters to fill in the data.
    o Return the reference to the TestDataObject.
    I was curious bout the use JNI to call the TestDataObject constructor. Im not sure what u meant, I know there was a JNI call that could be done from C that was titled: Invoking a Java Method. IS that what you meant? like Native access to an objects own methods?
    If so I can check that chapter out in the book, if not then im still lost (as most this new JNI stuff is all greek to me)
    This is what i was starting to write before I realized I might be wrong in interpreting what you said:
    JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_AbfaRegion_setJSource
      (JNIEnv *env, jobject thisObj, jobject actualObj)
         jclass clazz = env->GetObjectClass(actualObj);
         jfieldID fid= env->GetFieldID(clazz, "height", "I");
         env->SetIntField(actualObj, fid, myValFromStruct);
    }Here i was explciting trying to set private members of the JSource class, thats not what u meant really is it?
    Thanks for any help again,
    Shane

    Let's assume you create a java class called TestDataObject. You define a constructor, a couple of getters, and a couple of setters.
    Using TestDataObject content in a JNI routine: You pass a TestDataObject to your native routine as a parameter. In the C code, you use JNI functions to invoke the (java) methods on the java object, getting back data types like jint, jlong, jstring, ....
    Using TestDataObject to pass back results from a JNI routine: In the C code, you use JNI functions to invoke the (java) methods of a TestDataObject. But wait! First you use JNI functions to create a new TestDataObject! In other words, JNI helps you invoke the constructor method.
    A C function can invoke java methods using JNI calls in roughly the following sequence:
    o Call a JNI function to get a reference to the class - a kind of "type" record. FindClass or GetObjectClass.
    o Call a JNI function to get the ID of the method you want to invoke: GetMethodID (class is a parameter)
    o Call a JNI function to invoke the method. CallxxxMethod (class and method ID are parameters to this function. If you are not calling a constructor or a static method, then instead of the class, pass an object pointer.)
    Finally: You can do what your code shows - shove data right into private data members of java classes. I choose instead to invoke getters and setters.

  • Can I group several questions into one post?  I guess I will find out...

    Hello!
    I am new to this area of apple.com, but it looks like I should have been here a long time ago. Maybe I posted one post before I made the big purchase but all the problems I have had, this should be number 1 on my list. so far this might have ben able to take the place of appleCare?
    I have had the MBP for about 4 months. I honestly am not too impressed yet, but it could be my own fault. Putting that aside I will ask my questions after telling you about my system and hopefully I can start feeling a bit better with this machine. it is a MacBook Pro that was made in 2007, the date on the notebook was 1 week before '08 iLife was released. I found out I did get the faster HD I payed for after calling AppleCare 3 times and finally just putting in the HD serial number and it took me to places that sell the HD and that is how I found out I did indeed get the faster HD. so it has the Intel Core2Duo, 2.4 GHz processor, V 10.4.10 (which I could swear last I looked it was 10.4.9 but AppleCare said I would have to know if the OS was updated.
    I did add 2 2gb sticks of RAM, so I have he initial sticks that came with the machine. This leads me to my first question:
    1. Is trying to sell the 2, 1 GB of RAM that came with the machine an OK thing to do? I did get the 2, 2GB sticks at an Apple store that is certified with Apple and an authorized store for Apple that can perform AppleCare-certified work. So I did not just bring it in to anybody because I was nervous doing the add-on in case the notebook needed to go into AppleCare.
    Is it an OK thing to try and sell the RAM? it seems like such a waste and was a drag I had to purchase 2 new sticks of RAM in the first place. I am also wondering where there "667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM" what does the 667 MHz mean? is this a speed or something I should have paid more attention to when I purchased the new RAM?
    2. My second question is if I am posting this question in the right area. is the OS I have called Tiger? When dos it end being Tiger? When the next OS comes out? Also, I think the next OS upgrade will not be free, right? is it worth getting?
    3. When I first searched, and asked and searched, and asked and read and spent 8 months trying to decide what notebook I wanted to purchase, I used the chat on applestore.com. In fact when I decide to make the purchase I did it through the chat and at that time I still had not made up my mind on a couple questions about products.
    I was "sold" the Extreme Base Station when I learn that I actually ned the Express one to play iTunes over my stereo. I was quite upset because I feel I was misled in many areas with this being one.
    the express Base Station is nice but looks like it is for a call center or some other area that has many computers. Is this something that I should be able to sell, along with my RAM, at the same place? I am not sending it back to Apple for several reasons but now because it is too late and they charge too much to restock it.
    4. Is there a brand of printers that work better with a MacBookPro? I have the 3rd all-in-one HP Photosmart (not all were Photosmart, but were all-in-one) and each one I am unable to get to work with the Extreme Base Station. made this clear with the online sales guy that I needed the router that played the iTunes over my stereo, about 2 ethernet ports, a printer port (USB or Ethernet), and potable. Well i was not given honest info because the Extreme is not the one I needed. I really ant to know if there is a site someone would recommend I post the RAM, Extreme Base Station, the Neoprene Incase sleeve (that scratches the MBP when I slide it in?
    5. I am not impressed with this machine at all. the quality is so-so, not as good as I kept hearing. I know I will have some hardcore apple fanatics come down on me but maybe I can get some advice after they all get to vent. is the top "lid" of the notebook suppose to be so unstable when it is closed? if I press on the left side, the right side opens up about 1" or a slight bit more. and then press the right side and the lt side pops up? When the notebook is closed there is not a nice "tight" close to the machine. This appears to be a quality thing but maybe it means nothing. I would like a tighter seal so that dirt, dust, etc in the keypad area when I travel but I am more concerned that it may be a defect. I know I can bring it in to an apple store but being disabled makes it tough to get close t the only apple store in salt lake City.
    6. Finally, i cannot get use to what programs or applications, are on the machine and able to be used without paying for them. is there a free program or something in Preferences that I can paste to the desktop that will tell me what the applications are basically for and which ones are already purchased or able to be used without paying for them. I find myself not use the notebook like I should because I think that what is in the dock is what is in the notebook. But apparently that is not the case. I have found something that lists some applications and it is called applications, imagine that, but it is not inclusive nor does it give a brief explanation what the program is for.
    7. I lied. One more. I purchased Fusion but have not done anything with it except send in the rebate. I would like to use the XP that was on my previous notebook that died. Does anybody have any info on this program, good or bad? I still keep hearing about Boot-Camp and Parallels, but not VM Fusion. I would have thought this program would have taken off like a wildfire when I initially read up on it and learned the company's specialty who put it together, what it can do, etc. I do not have very good luck, if that is OK to say, with installing programs, especially a program that will need me to instal an OS over that in-order to se if it works.
    I appreciate any informative information I get. thanks for being patient with me.
    KJT

    Hello-
    I was curious about what you said you are installing, 2 gb 1000mhz each? correct? So tha made me investigate further wheree i purchased my 2gb sticks 600 mzh (or whaever the abbreviation is.)
    Not only did I find out 8 days later that the price for what I paid $..shoot, I can't remember right now how much this certified apple store sold the 2 gb sticks to me but they were 1/2 the price the day I called to ask about the 600 vs the 1000 you mentioned. they are not an apple store but they are a certified reseller, or something like that.
    They would NOT give me any refund. But I asked them about the sped since you had mentioned what you were installing. They said for the MBP, the AM only comes in one speed and is different depending which Mac a person has. this guy said they only will tak max 2 gb sticks with a speed of 667. so I am confused about that and ****** about how they ripped me of and Apple will not help me. they get a free spot on the only Apple Store's box in the Yellow Pages too, for some reason
    If som bodu can explain this to me, I would really appreciate it. will even mark the question as answered if ou are somewhat nice abou it.
