2 Questions i think?
Gud Evening 6:28 PM at Philippines I have 2 questions 1st Why my Windows XP (SP3) or iTunes doesn't read my iPod Touch sometimes a while ago it works after quick charge then I remove it the plug and I plug it again and it sounds but no "Devices" shown in iTunes I wonder why, 2nd I wanted to restore my iPod Touch I clicked "Restore" in iTunes and it downloading after downloading the download completes and theres an Error I forgot what it says
1 - It is almost impossible to diagnose an intermitant problem.
2 - If the error was network timed out, try disabling the computer's security software during the download and update. Otherwise we need to know what the error message said. The following gives various error messages and there corrective actions:

I am deciding on my first IBM, a T400 or T500
I have a few questions concerning the Think Vantage Function:
a) Does the recovery DVD set back the hard drive partitions to factory settings?
b) Does the Think Vantage function set back the hard drive partitions to factory settings?
This means the original size of the partitions, when they have been changed manually.
c) Does Think Vantage work with a self buyed Windows Vista?
d) Does Think Vantage work unter Windows XP
e) Does Think Vantage need drivers/ anything else to work or is it entirly working on the hardware side, so no software/ windows is needed
f)Will Think Vantage work under Windows 7 in a T400/500
g) How was the past situation? Did a under Windows XP working Think Vantage also work on Vista / have there been drivers delivered, when needed, for the new OS
h) Is it possible to set up a new OS (like Vista Ultimate) and then backup it up on a external hard drive and later recover from this?
What do I want to achieve?
I want to recover the factory settings at all times, this means partition size, number of partitions etc. and Windows Vista Business. Then I want to install Vista Ultimate do my settings and backing it up to an external drive or whatever and then recover from that all 3 Months. In the end I should be able to set back factory settings with the earliest/ first backup from Windows Business; Furthermore I might want to install Windows 7 sometimes.

Okey .. so i'm new with java but i need to find out something ..
i'm using a java application for my mobile, a notepad to be exact.
For it to store notes it uses a .rms file ( from what i've seen is a db of somekind ).
I was wondering if there is a application or something to see all the entries of this .rms file from the pc and to edit them.

I've seen a lot of similarities in .rms files with different records:
The begging is the same:
midp-rms [? :??wI"?9*{?????? and i think after there some variabiles that are in some connection with the file size and the number of the records
and the separator from recordings is:
? ( where ^ is variabile )

Simple audio question (I think)
Thanks everyone for answering this question which I think is fairly simple. I have a new TV that I use as the monitor for my computer and connect my Itv to. Currently I have both the cable, my computer and ITV hooked up through HDMI. Whenever I switch between the different HDMI inputs I obviously do not continue getting the sound out from my ITV. The question is I would like to be able to leave my ITV running while it is playing music to my stereo and surf the internet with my computer output on the screen. I know I could obviously play Itunes on my computer however the ITV seems to have much better output quality. Anyone has a solution for this?

Not without some other device to feed audio through. Your tv will only play from one input at a time, when you switch to the input from your mac/pc, it will always cut off the audio from other inputs. -
If you would take a look at this page http://www.gcfa.org/add_data.asp you will see that between the header and the navigation bar a white line is there. I don't won't it there, how can I get rid of it?

A simple Spry Accordion Question (I think)
Hi all:
I've searched but can't find, but I think this is a simple one.
I've created a basic Spry accordion menu with DW/CS3 - Insert/Spry/Spry Accordion. How do I get the first "Content 1" to be hidden/not visible upon page load. Right now, the "Lable 2" must be clicked to hide the "Content 1" which of course shows the "Content 2"? Guessing it's in the JS, but I'm not sure. TIA for any help. HTML and JS Code below.

I currently have the below code which opens a file, reads all the contents and prints it. I would like to modify it such that it the searches the file for a particular word e.g. "from" and when it reaches it, it inserts something after it e.g. "me". I think I need to put a nested loop somewhere in my while loop. Can some advise me please?

My understanding is that the below code reads a file line by line. As long as the line isnt null(i.e. end of file), the contents of the file should be printed and any instances of "from" should be replaced with the variable username. This is then written back to the file. Correct?

I am a newbie about EJB. But I am teacher of a Java course and I have
introduced EJB to my students. I have said them that EJB is good for big
applications but, when the application is small, is overkill (I read this in
several books). But then a student has asked me (I don't know how to
exppress the sentence in English) "How big has to be the application in
order to take advantage of EJB?". I mean: EJB is overkill for an application
with two concurrent users. But, if concurrent users are thousand, it is
necessary. Where is the limit between two situations? Of course, there is no
exact limit but it must exist some QUANTITATIVE parameter.
I had no reply for my student. Good question but no answer. I said that I
will look for this information.
I am getting mad looking for this information in Internet. I have seen no
studies that study such a basic question. Even it has been impossible to
find "a ballpark estimate". I seen EJB FAQs, pages, books about EJBs, but I
found nothing. Any information of this kind would help me a lot.
So, please, can anybody help me?

A relatively simple question ( I think)
I'm pretty new to java. I've read a few books and been practicing the basics, and now I'm attempting to learn a bit more through the creation of a simple game. I've been able to get a lot of the groundwork down, however, I'm having trouble figuring out just how to do one of the simple things that I need.
This game is grid based, and each time a sprite moves it moves a uniform distance of one tile (around 20 pixels). I need to set it up, however, so that the characters don't just "pop" to each location, but that they actually use their walk animation to travel one square's worth of distance.
I'll post the simple code I tried, along with my thoughts on why it doesn't work, and then I'd like to know if I'm just going about it all wrong, and I should try another method, or there is an error in my code. My comments in the code explain what's going on (or supossed to be).

However, what I end up with is the same as if the for loop is nonexistant and I just used setPosition() to "warp" the character to the new spot. The animation never takes place, and the sprite doesn't "slide" along the screen like I want. Is this because the for loop just processes so quickly from x to (x-20) that its unnoticable? And if so, how do I slow it down so that I can see this animation?
Perhaps I'm going about it all the wrong way, and there is a better method for getting at what I want. Any help would be greatly appreciated. For what its worth, I do know the moving() method,looping, stopLooping(), setPosition(), and all of that works. When I set it so that holding down an arrow key moves the sprite, it works fine. The sprite moves around, with the walk animation as long as the key is being pressed. That's just not what I need to do here. I just want it to walk a fixed distance, with its animation, from a key press.well, it may have bloated my code a bit, but it works. I believe that once I get more of the game elements in place, I'll be able to simplifiy it, but I'm trying to take my time and get each part working solidly before adding more.

}I tried to get it all in one method, but was having trouble, with using getXPosn() in the same method that I needed to check getXPosn() later. It kept creating infinite loops, because (getXPosn() - 20) would change based on the sprite's movement. So my workaround was to send it to another method for the loop.
As I said, I think this is a little bloated for what the code will be when I'm finished. I need to turn my background into a grid and I'm going to define each tile at some point. Then, I can go back and alter this code so that it just checks if its going into the boundaries of a new tile, rather than needing to use so many methods. -
Hi... I've had my Blackbook for about three months and I'm somewhat satisfied. This is my first mac product after my PC laptop was stolen. Anyway...
question 1: my desktop is clutter with mpkg and dmg files... is it ok to just throws these in the trash? or, like a PC, will that ruin the application?
2. compared to my PC laptop, the macbook runs pretty slowwww... will increasing my RAM help a lot? if so, could i do it myself? maybe delete some unneed programs?
3. I've had trouble backing up the harddrive with the backup program I got with .mac. could i be using the wrong DVD disc? I bought a DVD RW... thought it should work ,but it always malfunctions. Apologies if you know this (but others haven't), you need to copy each application from the dmg or equivalent to your Applications folder. Then you can throw away the dmg etc files.

Some programs have not been made Intel-native; they are still made to run on the PowerPC chip that older Macs used. MS Office is a prominent example. These programs run in an emulation layer called Rosetta. They run pretty slowly, although most would say acceptably.
Adding RAM will not have a big effect if these programs are the reason for your perception of slowness. -
Adium Question (I think!) - Flag in top right of screen
Hi,
I was playing around trying to change my settings in Adium, and somehow managed to get a "flag" icon to appear in the top right bar of my screen (next to the volume/time/battery indicators). I think it came from Adium, but I'm not 100% sure!
If I click on the "flag" I have various options to do with showing a character palette.
Any ideas how to get rid of this?

System Preferences > International > Input Menu tab
at the bottom is a clickbox "Show input menu in menu bar" - uncheck it.
BTW i happen to like this menu up there - it makes it quick & easy to 'Show Keyboard Viewer' - which is the equivalent to 'Key Caps' from the old days (i.e. show what characters from a given font are mapped to what keyboard key combinations)...

I have written a class of static methods that converts a bunch of stuff (like weight, height, temperature, etc).
In another class I am supposed to initialize name, gender, age, height, weight, if the person drinks, smokes, and exercises...I've done that part. I'm now where i have to write a method that calculates a person's BMI (person's weight in kg divided by the square of his/her height in meters). The weights are supposed to be input from the user in pounds, and the height as inches. How would i use the conversion class in the BMIcalculator method?...
would this all be done in the main/driver class?...I think i know how to do it that way.getting illegal start of type error on the second if statement here...

Really beginner question - i think
I've had my iPhone and iTunes for ages. I have a iMac and a Macbook air. I only use my iMac for my iPhone.
My best friend just bought and iPhone, its up and running and he wants some apps. Believe it or not, he does not have a computer. So he is going to hook it up to my Mac air and get an iTunes account that way. Works for both of us because I'm eventually going to get the smaller Mac Air (mine is 1st gen) and he will get this older Mac Air.
However I'm sure I've opened the iTunes on the Mac Air before but I've never synced my phone to it. So my question is this: Will it automatically list his phone as one of mine? (we don't want that) Will it erase anything on his phone? Is there anything else I should know about doing this?

(b) while in his user account, set him up with a new iTunes store account
(c) let him use his iTunes store account in his user account to purchase content for his iPhone to keep both your purchases strictly separate
(d) before you give your MBA to him, you might want to delete your user account

When I created my ebook, it's difficult to swipe back to the previous chapter.
