I created 2 presentation service and given 2 port for to instanceconfig.xmls
but when i started the preseentation services but gettting following error message
An error occoured during execution of bind. an attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permission

11g Multiple Rpd on one BI server connecting to two different data marts

Did anyone tried and successfully implemented multiple rpds on one bi server. I have similar requirement in one of the clients place.
1. Install OBIEE 11g with vertical scaling( reason client doesnt want to spend extra money on additional server licenses) and would like to utilize the powerful existing servers.
2. Install 2 rpds on One BI Server and connect to two different datamarts.
3. Create two PS and provide two links to have two different reporting environments.
Appreciate with any pointers. I am very clear on Vertical Scaling and bumping up the Bi , PS and Java Hosts components. I saw a post with successful implementation of the same functionility in 10g and nothing in 11g. I already reviewed ritmanmeed blogs but did not give a complete picture of successfull implementation.

Yes, it is possible to have two different .rpds on one BI Server but then you need to set up two different Presentation Servers.

problem is, you must have a unique port for each of the servers to run

This also means you have multiple weblogic.properties files etc. for
each instance.
We do this with WL5.1 on a Linux 2.4 kernel in developement to allow
multiple developers run their own instance on one box.

If you would like to move your source models, target models and project contents from Work repository 1 to another work repository.
I.e. Dev. server to Prod Server.
1. Firstly, replicate the master repository connections i.e. with same naming conventions manually
2. Go to Dev. Server work repository -> File Tab -> Click on Export work repository (save it in a folder)
3. After exporting, you can view the xml files in the folders.
4. Now, Open the Prod. server and make sure you already replicated mas. rep. details.
5. Now, right click on model and import source model in synonym mode insert_update (select source model from the folder where your xml file located)
6. Similarily, import again target then Project.
Now, check. It should work.

I would like to have 2 seperate sites on one server

I am a graphic designer who sometimes uses iweb to create very simple sites, which have worked in the past.
I have a friend who is opening a restaurant and I want to help out by creating a web site for her in iweb.
She already has one "site" for her photography, which is a page that says under contruction on her FTP which is contained the index.html file that appears in the web file on the FTP. If I publish the restaurant site to her FTP it replaces this existing photography site's index.html file and her photography site is lost . Is it possible (and how??) to have 2 index.html files on the FTP so that 2 sites can exist together?

LisaAssuming just one server domain, the sites can co-exist because each is in its own folder, but you can only have one index.html file at root level. This file redirect to the site which is at the top of the list if you have two sites in the same iWeb, or to the site which updated last if you are using separate computers.
The point of an index.html file is that you don't have to state it - if you have one at fred.com/index.html then just fred.com will bring it up.
So: supposing you have two sites at fred.com, one called jim and the other called mary. Each lives in its own folder, so their respective URLs are fred.com/jim and fred.com/mary (iWeb sets things so that those URLs bounce you on to Welcome.html or Home.html or whatever your starting page is called).
Whichever way you work it, those URLs will be stable. However, if you are each uploading from separate computers, just fred.com will lead to whichever site was updated last. The only workarounds are manually to remove the index.html file at root level and stick with the longer URL in each case: or for the second site to keep a copy of the first site's index.html file and manually replace it at root level after each time they've uploaded.
In the event that your server supports subdomains, Ethmoid's suggestion is neater. -
How to copy procedures and packages from one server to another?

I have 439 packages and 178 procedures located in one server called MAXWELL.
I need to copy these objects to another server called TITAN.
The schema names is SPCBR in both servers.
So both servers have an instance running with this schema SPCBR.
SPCBR in TITAN server has their tables with table data which was generated by an export/import process from MAXWELL server.
However, procedures and packages were not copied by the export/import because I used the clause 'tables'.
Now, what can I do in order to equalize procedures and packages in both databases? I can't risk in damaging or duplicating data in my database located in TITAN server, ok?

Running APEX 3.1.2 and 4.0.2 on one server
We currently have a Solaris server running an Oracle 10g R2 DB with APEX 3.1.2 installed. Oracle Application Server 10g (Apache) is used as HTTP server. This server is used for development and UAT.
We want to upgrade to APEX 4.0.2. and first want to test this and then gradually upgrade our existing APEX applications. This means we need to run both APEX versions is parallel for a while. We created a copy of the development database, since you cannot have two different APEX versions in one database. But, out problem is the images directory that is used by APEX 3 and 4 in combination with the OAS MT. According to the installation/upgrade instructions you need to rename the existing APEX 3 images to be able to revert back to APEX 3, but that would mean our APEX 3 environments will stop working. We need to be able to run both APEX versions for a while on one server using one OAS MT.
How can this be achieved without having to install another OAS MT with it's own images directory?Hi,
you could create a second directory on the server and a matching alias in the dads.conf file and name it /i402/ (instead of the old /i/).
Then you install APEX 4.0.2 and specify /i402/ as image directory name when calling the installation script. If you already installed APEX 4 you can use a script named reset_image_prefix.sql to change the images directory used by the APEX Builder Applications.
For your created Applications simply set the image directory prefix in the Application Definition Page to /i402/ and you are good to go.

Multiple users logged into one server, each users printer has a different name, application needs ONE name to print to.
I'm NOT in any way a Terminal Services expert and I need help trying to get an application program working in a multi-user environment.
The issue is that the printer changes for every user that is logged in. The application needs to print NOT to the default printer, but to a "special" printer which is selected in the application... let's call it a label printer to simplify the explanation.
You have your default regular printer, easy for the application to find that one, and then you have a special printer that labels get printed onto. The application needs to know what printer is the label printer. So we allow the user to select that in the
application and the selection is stored in a config file in
C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
I don't have access to the application so I can't change how this works.
In the "regular" world, selecting the label printer driver to use should be per machine, NOT per user. When a new user logs into a machine, the physical printer doesn't go "poof" and a new printer suddenly appear. Same printer for all
users.
Yet in terminal services, the physical machine is "merged" with the virtual machine on the server. And there can be many users logged in at the same time. So each users real machine (and real printer) is injected into the "fake" terminal
services machine. The name of the printers is made unique for each user. So the printers DO go "poof" and change names depending on the user logged into terminal services.
So user "A" logs in and sets up the application to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" (or whatever the name of the printer happens to be), that setting is stored in the ProgramData subfolder, and all is well. Later, user "B" logs
in, and when they print, the application tries to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" which doesn't exist for user B or is only accessible by user A. If user B re-configures, that breaks it for user A.
SOLUTION 1: The way that /should/ work (in my mind) is that you define one "generic" printer in Terminal Services... call it "Virtual Label printer" and when the user wants to print to it, the print job gets re-directed back to whatever
physical printer is actually connected to their local workstation. There is a map of virtual printer to actual printer depending on the current user. The application is told once to print to "Virtual Label Printer" for all users.
SOLUTION 2: Or... there should be some way to make the ProgramData sub folders separate per user. E.g. when user "A" tries to access:
C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
they actually get
C:\UserData\UserA\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
and user "B" gets
C:\UserData\UserB\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
So the question I have is: Does either of those solutions exist hidden somewhere in the setup of terminal server? Or is there another way around this issue that I don't know?I don't really have a "for sure" answer to this, but because people here can't seem to deal with a question that hasn't been answered I'll provide the best answer I did receive from ServerFault.com user Nathan:
I can feel your pain with using old software on terminal servers ...the solution I've come up with definitely won't scale as it requires some manual configuration, but I've gotten this method to work with our label printers (which require to be
printed to an LPT port...yep, that old).
Share your USB-connected printers to the network on each machine. Then, have the user log in on aunique session for each of them
(a TS account cannot be shared among computers for this to work) and install a network printer pointing to the USB one they shared. Try to use a DNS name to account for possible DHCP movements.
After, it should work. Each user can do this since display names can be identical as long as the ports are different (which they are).
This was clarified by the following series of comments:
I think you are on to something here, and I originally advised the admin to do this. The problem he ran into is that it setup the printer names in the TS as "printer on usersworkstation"
and he could not rename it except to change the "printer" to whatever. E.g. the "on userworkstation" remained. I believe there is another way of installing the printer which avoids this, but I can't find it. Ages ago, one used to do NET
USE LPT2 \\computer\printer password /USER:domain\user /PERSISTENT:YES and then tell the driver to print to LPT2 – James

Multiple instances of ECM 11g on one server
I've read a few posts about installing multiple instances of ECM 11g on one server, but I have a few questions. My current set up is
A single Windows 2008 Server R2 server
8 gb RAM
Weblogic 10.3.5
1 install of ECM 11g in the base_domain
Database is Oracle 11.2
I want to add another instance of ECM to this server, but when I went to run the RCU, I was not allowed to use the same prefix for my tablespaces. Is this expected? I'm fine with using a different prefix, I just was surprised to see that I couldn't use the same prefix on this install since I was using a completely different database.
Assuming I use a different prefix... do I just add a new domain for this additional ECM instance? Is there anything else I need to know?

Is there anything else I need to know?Actually, I think you can even install more instances to the same domain (this is more a question to Weblogic Server admins - I think there's been some posts recently on this topic). What definitely must be unique, is the port number. If you are OK with using different port numbers for your instances, it should be relatively easy. If you need the same port (e.g. 80 because of proxy limits), there are some ways how to redirect - it that case, two domains might be required. -
Restored our SSRS 2008 R2 from one server to another; Dates are in UK format and not US
We have restored our SSRS 2008 R2 from one server to another. The original server was in US locale/culture. The new server was in UK locale/culture, when the restore happened. However it should have been in US locale/culture. We have made this change and
new reports work OK.
However existing reports (i.e. saved by a user) are still trying to use the US dates in a UK format and as a result throwing a date cant be below 1753 error.
Has anyone seen this issue before or have any idea what we need to do to fix it?

Please verify Reporting Server Databases and Server Collation is there any mismatch with your Source Server.
