2 screen date formats..

Hi,
I have my screen date formats set to dd.mm.yyy. I also need to display some dates as dates as Thu, 04 Mar 2010 GMT
if a make a change to the format via the binding panel, the repeat region fails to work.  any idea please?

I'm totally clueless here but I feel like spurting out something . Is your sql statement that you have in the repeat region based on a variable that has your date? if so wouldnt changing the variable break your sql statement because its not looking for the right format for the date anymore?.

    hello
    ok here is another solution:
    Go to the binding panel and select the Dynamic Text that retrieved from the recordset to display the date in your page.
    - move your cruiser to the dead right end then you will found a bold down arrow beside the dynamic text click it you will found:
    - dropdown menu >> click Developer toolbox >>> Date Formate
    this will apply the settings you have made in the Control panel to this specified Dynamic data...
    i did it and works very fine now...

    i need help on displaying date in alv output
    date format needs to be in selection screen mm/dd/yyyy but in alv output ..it should be displayed as yyyymmdd

    hi,
    you are passing the value to ALv using an internal table.
    so store the format  YYYYMMDD date in the internal table and pass it to ALV.
    use the below FM
    DD/MM/YYYY -> YYYYMMDD

  • Change of date format to MM/DD/YYYY in ITS web HTML screen.

    Hi all
    I am facing problem in displaying date field on the HTML for the data coming from SAP back end.
    Earlier my screen was also showing the date in the format MM/DD/YYYY but suddenly it started showing date in the format DD.MM.YYYY. I have not changed any code on the front end HTML side.
    At sap back end the FM is returning the date in the format MM/DD/YYYY and same data i have to display on the HTML screen.
    But it is not showing the data as in the back end format.
    Please help me in resolving this issue. as it is bit Urgent.
    Thanks
    Ekta

    Hi Tobias,
    Thanks for the reply. I will see to your suggestion. Because the Custom login Id created for login to the service, needs to be checked whether the date format for that user may not be of the type DD/MM/YYYY.
    Thanks a lot. I will let you know about it after checking.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Date formats in BEx selection screen

    Can we set date formats to use the European format as a default (by person) in Bex?  I don't see varialbes taht are set-up this way.

    Hi laja,
    BEx date format is based on the global settings made on each indiviual PC user.
    to change the default USA date format in BEx to your required format,
    Go to > Control Panel > Regional and Language options > customize (or) select your country from the list.

  • Date Format in 'HH:MI' - help needed

    I have a table details that contains time_status column of Timestamp datatype.
    Data is stored in the column in the format '1/1/2008 10:31:00.000000 AM'.
    Now I want to select the data in HH:MI fopmat only.
    i.e., for '1/1/2008 10:31:00.000000 AM' I should get 10:31.
    I have written as select to_char(time_status,'HH:MI') from dual;
    I am getting an error when this query is included in the procedure.
    When I am executing outside, its is working.
    Also, How can I get the format a '1/1/2008 10:31'.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Raghunadh.

    I have a table details that contains time_status column of Timestamp datatype.Good. Always use the correct datatype. Either date or timestamp.
    Data is stored in the column in the format '1/1/2008 10:31:00.000000 AM'.
    Wrong! A timestamp or also a date column has no format! Same as a number column has no format.
    Now I want to select the data in HH:MI fopmat only. i.e., for '1/1/2008 10:31:00.000000 AM' I should get 10:31.When you work with date and timestamps you don't need any format. When you display the value, then you need to change your date into a string. Only during this transformation formatting takes place.
    Example:
    SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.2.0 - Production on Thu Aug 21 10:45:17 2008

    With the Partitioning, OLAP and Oracle Data Mining options
    JServer Release 9.2.0.8.0 - Production
    /* lets do a simple date select */
    SQL> select sysdate from dual;
    SYSDATE
    21-AUG-08
    "Attention!" Sql*Plus did an implizit date to string conversion to show this value on the screen.
    It used the NLS settings for the format.
    /* Now lets change the nls settings */
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_format = 'FMddth Month YYYY';
    Session altered.
    SQL> select sysdate from dual;
    SYSDATE
    21st August 2008
    SQL>
    "Different output for the same query! Value is the same, only the formatting was changed."
    I have written as select to_char(time_status,'HH:MI') from dual;You should ask yourself, why do I want this string?
    I am getting an error when this query is included in the procedure.
    When I am executing outside, its is working.
    Also, How can I get the format a '1/1/2008 10:31'.Check the documentation (sql manual) for the many options for the date format settings. Also check for timestamps, they are a bit more difficult to handle than dates.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Date Format in Portal Report

    Hi,
    I have created a SQL Report with following select statement. Looks like portal has default format mask for date type as 'DD-MM-YY'.
    If I put DD-MM-YYYY or DD-MM-RRRR in Format Mask field in Column Formatting screen, the reports generates 04-10-0002 . It should
    be 04-10-2002.
    select process_id, last_update_date
    from obm
    where process_id like (:process_id)
    I tried to use the to_char function as following. But it errors ORA-06502:PL/SQL:numeric or value error. Even though it works fine in
    my sqlplus session.
    select process_id, to_char(last_update_date, 'DD-MM-YYYY')
    from obm
    where process_id like (:process_id)
    Does anyone have any idea?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Which version of portal are you using? The error with to_char comes in 30984. This is a bug. The bug no is 2567445. A one-off has been issued. Please look in metalink for it. And for the date formatting in the column formatting section the formatting should work fine. Please check the data in your table.
    Thanks,

    What people are saying is that date columns (of DATE datatype) are stored internally using a fixed internal notation, which is essentially a series of bytes that describe the date.
    e.g.
    SQL> select empno, ename, hiredate, dump(hiredate) as dump_hiredate from emp;
         EMPNO ENAME      HIREDATE            DUMP_HIREDATE

It's an internal format that Oracle understands and uses, and it's important it's stored in this way so that date arithmetic and date range comparisons can be performed easily (and quickly) in queries.
    If we were to alter our sessions date format (the display format for our session only) and query the data again in the same way...
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_format='YYYY-MM-DD';
    Session altered.
    SQL> select empno, ename, hiredate, dump(hiredate) as dump_hiredate from emp;

    Likewise you can format dates manually as part of your query using to_char function...
    SQL> select empno, ename, to_char(hiredate,'DD Month YYYY') as hiredate, dump(hiredate) as dump_hiredate from emp;
         EMPNO ENAME      HIREDATE          DUMP_HIREDATE

    SQL>Again, the internal date format remains the same.
    It is important that, when you store date information you store it as DATE datatype and let oracle use it's internal format, so that it can accurately do the date arithmetic, date range searches and date ordering etc., that everyone likes to do in queries. If you try and store it as VARCHAR2 then not only can information be lost (i.e. is '01/02/2010' representing 1st February 2010 or is it 2nd January 2010?) but you prevent date arithmetic, range searches and ordering in your queries from working correctly (i.e. '03/01/2009' would work out to be a greater date than '01/02/2010'). To prove it...
    SQL> select 'Wrong' from dual where '03/01/2009' > '01/02/2010';
    'WRON
    Wrong
    SQL> ed
    Wrote file afiedt.buf

  • Date format in Bex Output should be changed while using with Text Variable

    I am using a Bex Query where have defined a Text Variable with replacement path. So whatever Date user enters in the selection screen variable (Input Variable) the same date appears in the report description.
    For Ex: If user enters 30.04.2012 in Char Variable/Input Variable before executing the report, so once he executes the report the same date appears on report description like "ABC Analysis as on 20120430". Is also changes the report description whenever user changes the date in selection screen variable.
    My requirement is......Date format should be come as 30.04.2012 (DD.MM.YYYY) instead of 20120430 (YYYYMMDD) in report description.
    Guys could you please help me out to achieve the desired output.
    Rgds,
    Ritu

    Please check if you have selected Replace with Key in that text variable.
    Instead of that select External characteristic value key.
    This should help you in giving the desired output.

  • Date format in BW report

    Hi All,
    When i execute a query in BW 3.5, the date format is displayed as dd.mm.yyyy instead of dd/mm/yyyy.
    for some values it is coming in dd/mm/yyyy and for some values it is displaying as dd.mm.yyyy in the same query.

    This is determined by your personal configuration setting for date format. On the SAP GUI Easy Access menus at the top of the screen, go to System --> User Profile --> Own Data, then choose the Defaults tab and change the setting for Date Format to "DD/MM/YYYY".
    There is probably a "global" setting for this in the IMG, as well.
    Hope this helps...

  • Date format in IDT

    Hi,
    I have an universe based on Teradata. I created a filter in IDT and it's like this :
    @Select(Sales\Calendar Day) =  @Prompt('Date:','D',,Mono,)
    When I use this filter and execute a test query in IDT, the date format is shown different in these 2:
    Enter a value : 10.Feb.2015
    Date : 10.Feb .2015 00:00:00
    I formatted the Calendar Day dimension and I can see it as 'mm/dd/yyyy' in the report result. That's fine.
    However, I want to do the same for the prompt screen in IDT too. How can I do this?
    The requirement is, I use the same filter for SAP Lumira and it does not provide a calendar component for date selection.
    So, the format of date to pass to universe is not clear.
    Thank you!

    Hi
    Try to change the format Cal day using below options, and then check the filter date format is showing as per your requirement
    predefined function TO_CHAR
    Use the custom display format option.

  • Selection Screen - Date and Time

    Hi,
    I have given a selection screen where the user needs to key in the input in the following format
    dd.mm.yyyy hh:mm:ss.
    Reason is that the database fetching these elements accepts only in this criteria.
    Now as they look into automating this program, they would want to automatically take the current system date and time - 24 hours .
    How do I achieve this in the above format? If this is not possible, let me know if i can make the selection screen with normal sap date format and convert it to the above format on passing to the select statement.
    Regards
    Sam

    Hi Sam,
    See this. Is this your requirement.
    With this we are able to get Current time-stamp to selection parameter.
    REPORT ZTEST.
    DATA: L_TS TYPE TZNTSTMPS,
           L_TS_C TYPE CHAR14.
    PARAMETERS:
    P_TMSTMP TYPE TMSTMP OBLIGATORY MEMORY ID TEST.
    INITIALIZATION.
       GET TIME STAMP FIELD L_TS.
       MOVE L_TS TO L_TS_C.
       SET PARAMETER ID  'TEST' FIELD L_TS_C.
    The output is

  • Hw can I generate XY graphs directly in a vector data format for printing ie pdf

    A further question re. Printing of Graphs
    There are many similar questions but none where the answers are acceptably adiquite or two or three were the link was broken,
    "Developer exchange forums have been moved" and a pointer to the new
    site, unfort it was hard to find or guess the rest of the link.
    So here is my angle on this problem;
    So far I have tried;
    Using property node: "App.  Printing.Default Printer" to select the printer to use, then
    Using Report Functions to print controls;
    New Report, to generate a new report reference
    Set Report Orientation
    Set Report Margins
    Set Report Font
    Set Report Header Text
    Set Report Font
    Set Report Footer Text
    loop for each page
    Set Report Footer Text,     With page number
    Append Control Image to Report,      several times
    New Report Page
    Until the end of the last page
    Print Report
    Dispose Report
    Initially using existing XY-Graph controls from the front panel.  These
    are on a page of a Tab control to hide these controls while not in use
    and allow them to be hidden while generating the printout.
    Unfortunately when this page is hidden any graph scales set to
    autoscale don't, (normally don't need to and would otherwise be a waste
    of processor time), resulting in graph plots going off scale or
    becoming a line along the axis.
    An issue is that what is printed appears to be read from the screen, so resolution is much
    lower than required for for printing, resulting in rather pixellated
    printed versions. These prints will usually be emailed, so tried the
    pdf995 "printer driver" but the resulting pdf file size is rather large.
     Currently trying Plot-XY on a much larger picture so as to get
    adequate resolution for printing, however suspect this will result in
    much larger pdf files and probably cause other problems.
    The preferred solution in this case will probably be to generate print
    output, instead of based on raster images (ie jpg or png), but on a
    vector format, maybe via postscript or directly in pdf format.
    Similar graphs currently printed from Excel via pdf995
    (or OpenOffice) result in files around 20 kb per page. these can be printed at any size
    (at least upto 64 times) without becoming pixellated, so assume these
    are vector based.
    Currently a page with 4 XY Graph controls uses around 40 to 45 kb per
    page but resolution is poor and overcoming that may push file size up
    to 150 to 200 kb per page, and the whole job can be 50 to 100 pages.
    Are there any functions to generate XY graphs directly in a vector data format preferably in pdf or via PostScript format.
    Cheers
    Darryl

    Hi Darryl,
    I was able to reproduce the issue you were seeing, in which a report generation was taking up a large amount of space per page in a PDF utility. I found; however, using my attached VI (notice that it is set to *.png) and the CutePDF utility (free download at http://www.cutepdf.com/) I was able to get a per page size of about 10 KB. Also using the png I found that the image quality seemed to be quite high.
    Please try incorporating this solution into your application and see if it reduces your file sizes.
    Thanks and have a good evening!

  • Date Format for the input Variable

    Hi all,
    I got an issue with Date format we enter in the input variable screen for the BEx Analyzer.
    We have given a format of MM/DD/YYYY. But when the users accessed the report, it is not taking the format of the variable i.e MM/DD/YYYY but it is taking the format of the users system.
    If the user's system format is DD/MM/YYYY, it is accepting the input inthe same format only.
    Why this strange behaviour?
    My questions are
    Is the input for BEx system specific? or variable specific?
    Rgrds
    Kumar

    Hi,
    I think it is user specific... you can maintain the date format for user ....
    Go to SU01 transaction or.. Go to SYSTEM -> User Profile -> Own data
    Here in defaults tab you can see the date formet for user...
    Hope this helps...
    Thanks,
