2 single pages, then spreads possible?

For a PDF ebook, I'd like to have the layout be like this:
Jacket front (single page), Page 1 (single page), Page 2–31 (spreads), page 32 (single), Jacket back (single).
I can get the pagination right by having the Jacket front be page i. But I can't get Acrobat to allow this sequence:
Single page; single page; several spreads (with 2 page numbers per spread); single page; single page.
Acrobat will only allow 1 single page, multiple spreads, 1 single page.
The only workaround so far is to add a blank page to the left of page 1 and one to the right of page 32, which is pretty clunky. Any better ideas? (Guess I could fill the blank pages with something...)
Thanks!

@Dave Merchant - The pages are true spreads, I've had a go at attempting to define the page type by the master but i can't seem to get it to split the document so that the first three pages remain single. I had a go at trying to create an entire new document with the pages in in order, but not sure how to insert single pages and spreads combined within the document.
@Test Screen Name - Do you know how i would be able to create such a document within indesign? i've had a look for some answers in the documentation but havent come accross anything yet (im on CS5). I had a go at combining the documents as the booklet and the single pages, but when i change the view options in acrobat to two page the first pages becomes a cover and the second and third are next to each other.

  • Creating a pdf document with both single pages and spreads

Hi, i'm not sure if this is possible, but basically i'd like to set up a document which allows me view the first three pages as single sheets and the remainder of the document as a booklet. The reason for this is I'm sending a cover letter, CV and then a booklet via email to apply for a job, and the booklet i have created has graphics which run accross the spread. I was hoping to lay the document as such:
    1. cover letter
    2. CV
    3. Booklet front cover
    4-5. booklet spread
    6-7. booklet spread
    8-9. booklet spread
I'm not too familiar with how to set this up (or if this is possible), could anyone point me in the right direction?

  • Single pages and spreads in alternate layouts

Hi, I am currently creating an alternate layout for a multipage InDesign document that already contains my print version inside the document. I have an understanding on how to create the alternate layout (for IPad: 1024px X 768px) yet when I create them the alternate Ipad layout appears as spreads. How can I make them into single pages while maintaining my spreads in my print layout.

You’re wasting your time, IMO. There’s simply no need to do this.
I would save it as a new file and work on that.
That said, I would encourage you to post in the InDesign EPUB forum.
BTW, what version of InDesign are you using?

  • How to Keep Pages as Spread in Exporting CS2 Book

While working with InDesign CS2 book feature, I'm trying to export my book as a pdf. The trouble that I am having is when my pdf doesn't keep all of the pages as spread. For example, let's say my first file has 5 pages ( pages 1-5 )  and then the next has 3 ( pages 6-8 ). In the original files, the document has spreads. However, in the pdf, pages 1-2 and 3-4 are spreads and then page 5 is single. And then, page 6 is single and then pages 7-8 are a spread.
My goal is to get InDesign to automatically create spreads when the files are exported no matter if the document has even or odd pages? I don't want to have to create all my files with all even pages. Does anyone know how this would be possible?
    Thanks,
    Jenny

First, this is one of those shortcomings with the current state of affairs. ID doesn't combine booked documents when exporting spreads.
So why do you want spreads? Is this for reader proofing (readers spreads which is what you'd get if you export a single doc as spreads)? If so, why not just fix the initial view in the PDF properties dialog? Export as single pages, then set the PDF to open as facing pages with cover page.
Or are you trying to impose into printer's spreads? That's not the same thing at all, and ID doesn't impose except through Print Booklet (but you can use that to print to PDF?

  • Set default result to single page, 999 rows per page

    hi!
im using 10g with windows server 2003.
everytime i start isqlplus, the default setting is to display the result of a select query to multiple pages with 24 rows per page. i like to have my result in a single page. i can change it in the preference but every time i logout and login again, it goes back to multiple pages. i searched the config file but couldnt find the setting to have the default as single page.
is it possible to set the default to single page?
    thx.

you need to creat a login.sql file in c:\orant\BIN
    then add the line
    set pages 999
set lines 2000 ( if you want to set the line size too)
set ..... (all set variables can be set here only)
then invoke the sql*plus via plus33w etc.
    your changes will be done
    if not then
    open sql*plus
    SQL>
    type host
    SQL>host
    C:\>windows>
if the command prompt comes with c:\windows then you have to copy the login.sql file in this folder.
    it depends upon this directory
this is the working directory for the shottcut you used to open the plus33w
You can write theses lines in glogin.sql in the sqlplus folder of your oracle_home directory
    ad c:\orant\plus33 or c:\orant\sqlplus
then it wil be done globally.
    Just try
if problem exists then come back
    Good Luck.

  • Four Page Booklet - Spread?

    Hey,
Is there is a way to have a four page booklet on Acrobat.com
where the middle spread appears the same size as pages 1 and 4 by
the "show pages side by side" layout is selected? Currently
    this
is what we have - but I'd love pages 2 and 3 to appear
side-by-side and in proportion just as they would in print and the
    regular offline acrobat reader.
Am using Acrobat 9 Pro to upload files, so don't know if this
can be controlled there or at acrobat.com?
    Cheers.

Not the most obvious of workflows, but it does the job!
Not sure waht you took away from that other thread...
On Windows using Print Booklet to make a PDF is pretty straight forward -- you just select the AdobePDF virtual printer installed with Acrobat Pro. Of you don't have the virtual printer, printing to file won't help much becasue you also won't have Distiller (the virtual printer is just a one-step shortcut to doing a print-to-file-then-distill workflow).
The manual methos of shuffling works great for 4 pages. For more than that youj might want to look at a script. My favorite is from Dave Saunders and is quite old, so you might need to run it in a "Version 4.0 Scripts" (without the quotes) subfolder of your scripts panel folder. You'll find that one at http://pdsassoc.com/downloads/Buildbooklet.zip
The downside to the above script is it cannot handle objects that cross the spine, nor does it do creep, so Dave wrote another script that places pages into a new doc in single-page imposed spreads (still no creep, though). This one is also old (written for CS3) and may need to be in a Version 5.0 Scripts subfolder: Dave's CS3 Booklet Script

  • How do i combine single pages into documents with Adobe?

How do i combine single pages into documents with Adobe?

    Hi zebideeplus,
Using Reader, you need to purchase subscription for Adobe PDF Pack  to combine PDF files into single document.
Refer: Acrobat.com Help | Adobe PDF Pack FAQ
But, if you need to combine single pages, then it can be done with Adobe Acrobat only.
Let me know if you have further queries.

  • Form printing in a single page

    Hi All,
We have developed a smartform , suppose in an internal table i am getting 3 records for these 3 records i am getting 3 pages in out . But i want to display these 3 pages in a single page.
My requriement is like this in a single page  i want to print 3 pages data . Please help me how to restrict the pages.
    Regards,
    Satyapalli.

Check your smartform, inside main window you will find command node, remove the command or un-check the tick box goto next page in your command.. it will solve your problem... now all data will be printed in single page, if it cannot fit single page then it goes to next page...
Close the thread once your question is answered.

  • Acrobat single page view - can't make it work.

    Hi, everyone.
I have created a book using Blurb's template for InDesign. After I finished the book I exported it as a PDF file and wanted to review it on my notebook and iPad but Acrobat only displays it in two page view (the 'spread' as InDesign refers to it).
I've tried a vew options in Acrobat including view in single page mode but so far haven't been able to make it work. In addition, although I have chosen the option in Acrobat to have a space displayed between pages when viewing the 2-page spread, the space still doesn't show.
Any ideas as to how this can be accomplished ?
I need to be able to see this PDF on page at a time instead of the 2-page spread as Acrobat displays it now.
Thank you in advance for your help.

The fix is on the InDesign side since what appears to be two pages is really a single page in the PDF. Export as single pages, not spreads. For example: http://indesignsecrets.com/interactive-pdf-from-indesign-cs5-always-has-spreads-on.php

  • Creating a Single Page Peel Interactive Online Brochure

I'm new to InDesign CS4. Could someone help me in explaining how I can create a single turning page peel interactive online book. I have the job done in InDesign using spread pages format.... and I'm looking to try and output to SWF format as single pages (not spreads). How do insert single pages as I keep getting spreads outputted to SWF format so that a single page displays online and peels to the next page.
    Any suggestions.
    Regards,
    Anthony

deselect the spreads checkbox in the swf export dialog

  • Publish updates on a single page question

    Hi,
I had a discussion with my client yesterday about after a 100+ Muse site is published, if you go back and need to make a change to one single page, then re-publish, he was concerned that you'd have to re-export the 100+ site just for this single page change.
Is there a way for me to go into Muse and edit a single page and then just re-publish this single page?  I believe you can do this with Catalyist but I'm not sure how (we currently do not have CC).
Any advise or tips on this is appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hello Michael,
When you hit publish or upload to your host, you have an option  that allows you to either publish/upload the whole site again or only the modified pages. This is the option: http://jingsite.businesscatalyst.com/jing/2013-10-01_0052.png
However, if you have made changes to a master page, which is applied to several other pages, then Muse will publish/upload all those pages again to update them accordingly.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers

  • Is it possible to join two single pages in a pdf into one double page spread?

Is it possible to take two single pages from separate pdf documents and combine them as one double page spread?
If it is possible could someone describe how it is done please?

The InDesign method Steve mentions is the best option. You can also place it in Illustrator as an import but you'll need to have the same fonts as the PDF file. This option will allow you to edit the files, pending what objects are editable. It will have a few quirks, and the text lines might be separate objects.
I'd go InDesign, but just in case you don't have ID, you can use Illustrator, but be prepared for a little work.

  • Is it possible to print a spread as single pages?

The file was created in InDesign CS5 and has to be saved as a .pdf. I want to view all of the spreads in the .pdf, but actually print them as single pages.

If the pages are exported to PDF as spreads, that's how they are going to print. You can export as single pages and set the initial view in Acrobat Pro so the file opens as spreads, with a single cover page if needed, but it won't look exactly the same as a true spread and it won't stop a user from changing the view.
Personally, I hate PDFs exported as spreads because they're really hard to navigate (same for two-column text meant to be read on screen).

  • Single Page/Spreads

    Hi all,
I've designed a publication in InDesign and exported it into Acrobat. My client wants to be able to view the document with the first two pages viewed singly (a cover and then a title page) and the rest of the document viewed in spreads- but he wants it all to be printed in single-page. Can this be done?
    Thanks!

    Hi Rogowskik,
Acrobat provides initial view customization which applies to all the pages when the pdf is opened. So, there is no such option available in Acrobat.

    Rahul
